Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of transformation of fishermen to succeed in fisheries modernization, Knowing Factors that play a role in the success of modernization of fishermen. This research was conducted in January 2018 until March 2018 at Fishery Port of Samudera Kendari. Determination of key informants in this study amounted to 4 people, where there is One owner of the ship, two skippers of the ship who is the second owner and leader of the boat, and a captain who is the leader of the ship. Determination of key informants is intended because they are the key to know the process of modernization of fishery business from the beginning of its development until now. This research uses descriptive qualitative analysis method. The results of this study indicate that the elite of Indigenous entrepreneurs is a pioneer elite born in the first modernization period from 1970 to 1980. His business started from traditional fishermen engaged in fish auction business became the head of the fishermen group so that they can access the fishery assistance to develop the business in PPS Kendari. While the Chinese entrepreneurs elite is a followers elite born after the third period of modernization that is after 1990 the business started from employees at the company Cilacap. Because of the potential in him and is the ethnic Chinese he then get help from the company Cilacap owned by the company Cilacap. Factors that play a role in the success of modernization of fishermen can be seen from the elite success of Indigenous businessmen and elite of Chinese businessmen. Where the elite of Native entrepreneurs in fishery modernization there are factors that play a role is the business experience that is as a traditional fisherman and work in fish auctions and then transformed into fisherman owners who have their own company with a fleet of ships that many. While Chinese businessmen are more to ethnic background factors so as to get capital assistance from large Chinese ethnic companies. Furthermore, the elite of indigenous entrepreneurs is supported by the government through the help of the fishing fleet, while the Chinese business elite is supported by the Chinese pioneering elite of Cilacap.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the functions of Pokadulu institutions in agricultural activities in Waumere Sub-District, Tiworo Islands. This research was conducted from April to June 2018at Waumere, Tiworo Islands, and West Muna Regency. This research is to find out the current forms of reciprocity transformation in Pokadulu in Waumere, Tiworo Islands, West Muna Regency. To strengthen the data obtained, the researcher uses qualitative research methods to determine facts in the field and use informants. Key informants were determined by using purposive techniques as many as 2 respondents who are young farmers and old farmers who are still carrying out Pokadulu activities and who had left Pokadulu's activities. Based on the results of the study, the Pokadulu institutional function in farming activities managed by the older generation of farmers is to reduce farming costs in almost the whole process of farming activities starting from planting preparation, land clearing, planting, crop maintenance, harvesting and post-harvest through goods exchange or barter. The exchange system is limited to the kinship boundary and one-sided. While the farming activities managed by the generation of young farmers are only at the stage of land acquisition with the same purpose, namely to reduce farming costs, for example reducing rental costs at the land clearing stage in Waumere, Tiworo Islands, West Muna Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in social capital in the three types of families in Mantigola village and family type that will be vulnerable to social capital. Data processing that has been obtained using qualitative analysis using the daily diary of research results then reduced and analyzed through livelihood capital (social capital). The results of this study indicate the differences in social capital owned by each type of family. The extended family (extended family) is a very strong family on all aspects of social capital. The nuclear family will be vulnerable to social capital based on the social status on the part of ascribing status and social networking based on the relationship of social capital, and the widow family (single family) of the most vulnerable families as the single family is only strong in social capital. Social networking on the part (social capital bond)
