Abstract

William Conway (1998) once wrote: "In the preservation of biological diversity (biodiversity), the use of technology is a last resort. When the preservation of ecosystemsfaltery, their fragments may have to be cared for piece by piece". However, further he said that intensive care and biotechnology can preseve some diversity thet would otherwisw be lost. But thegreates dimension of such preservation is depressingly slight compared with that which can be or could have been sustained in adequately designed and protected nature reserves and by understanding accomodation outside preserved areas.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi pada program penanaman 4 kali setahun (IP400) adalahterkurasnya unsur hara tanah dan besarnya air yang dibutuhkan oleh tanaman padi. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini perlu dihasilkan varietas genjah yang hemat pupuk dan air dengan cara menguji galur-galur mutan genjah tersebut pada berbagai cara pengairan dan takaran pupuk NPK. Penelitian terhadap beberapa galur mutan harapan dan tanaman kontrol dilakukan di lapangan. Analisis unsur haradilaksanakan di laboratorium Pemupukan dan Nutrisi Tanaman PATIR-BATAN. Untuk mengukur kelembapan tanah dalam perlakuan pengairan digunakan Neutron Probe. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah tiga cara pengairan (digenangi terus menerus, diairi kemudian dibiarkan selama 10 hari, dan dibiarkan selama 15 hari)serta empat taraf pemupukan NPK (0, 25, 50, dan 100%). Hasil yang diperoleh adalah rata-rata produksi per hektar untuk galur/varietas yang diujicobakan berturutturut galur OBS 1705 (9,3597 t), varietas Cimelati (8,9631 t), galur OBS 1700 (8,9192t), varietas Diah Suci (8,7706), galur OBS 1713 (8,2797 t), galur OBS 1703 (8,2733 t), galur 1718 (8,2489 t), dan galur 1704 (8,0019 t). Secara statistik produksi rata-ratayang diperoleh pada berbagai tingkat pemupukan NPK dan cara pengairan paling tinggi adalah galur OBS 1705 dan ini tidak berbeda nyata dengan varietas Cimelati, tetapi berbeda nyata dengan OBS 1700, varietas Diah Suci, OBS 1713, OBS 1703, OBS 1718 dan OBS 1718. Galur OBS 1704 sangat tanggap terhadap pemupukan NPK ditunjukkan oleh adanya produksi gabah kering yang meningkat secara tajam pada pemberian pupuk NPK yang sangat rendah (25%). Selain itu galur OBS 1704 memberikan respon yang baik pada pengairan berselang 15 hari. Semua galur mutan yang diujikan secara statistik mempunyai serapan N-total dalam gabah yang lebihtinggi secara nyata daripada varietas induknya.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effect of strategies-based instruction on students’ speaking skill at Lakidende University and the students’ interest in learning English through strategies-based instruction. This research employed Quasi Experimental Method, with non-equivalent control group design. This research assigned experimental group and control group (30 students for each).Speaking test was used to see the effect of strategies-based instruction on students’ speaking skill and questionnaire was used to see students’ interest in learning English through strategies-based instruction. The data obtained through the speaking test were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Meanwhile, the data from questionnaire were analyzed in percentage and descriptive statistics. The students’ speaking skill covered three components: accuracy, fluency, and comprehensibility. The findings showed that there was an improvement on the students’ speaking ability after the treatment. There was a significant difference between the results of post-test of experimental and control group, where the mean score of post-test of experimental group was 70.37, which was higher than the mean score of post-test of control group was 59.63.The value of P-value or sig. (2-tailed) shows that P-value or sig. (2-tailed) is smaller than α (0.00 < 0.05).Furthermore, the data that were collected from questionnaire showed that the students were very high interest toward strategies-based instruction. It is showed by the mean score in scale of 89.6, which was categorized as very high interest. Keywords: effect, strategy-based instruction, speaking skill

Abstract

Odd-even-transposition adalah suatu algoritma paralel yang merupakan pengembangan dari algoritma sekuensial â??bubble sortâ?. Algoritma odd-even-transposition ini didesain khusus untuk model jaringan array linier (homogen). Untuk n elemen data, kompleksitas waktu dari algoritma bubble sort adalah O(n2), sedangkan pada odd-even-transposition yang bekerja di atas n prosesor adalah ï?(n). Ada peningkatan kecepatan waktu pada kinerja algoritma paralel ini sebesar n kali dibanding algoritma sekuensialnya. Hypercube dimensi k adalah model jaringan non-linier (non-homogen) terdiri dari n = 2k prosesor, di mana setiap prosesor berderajat k. Model jaringan Fibonacci cube dan extended Lucas cube masing-masing merupakan model subjaringan hypercube dengan jumlah prosesor < 2k prosesor dan maksimum derajat prosesornya adalah k. Pada paper ini, diperlihatkan bagaimana algoritma odd-even-transposition dapat dijalankan juga pada model jaringan komputer cluster non-linier hypercube, Fibonacci cube, dan extended Lucas cube dengan kompleksitas waktu O(n). Odd-even-transposition is a parallel algorithm which is the development of sequential algorithm â??bubble sortâ?. Odd-even transposition algorithm is specially designed for linear array network model (homogeneous). For n data elements, the time complexity of bubble sort algorithm is O(n2), while the odd-even-transposition that works with n processor is ï?(n). There in an increase in the speed of time on the performance of this parallel algorithms for n times than its sequential algorithm. K-dimensional hypercube is a non-linear network model (non-homogeneous) consists of n = 2k processors, where each processor has k degree . Abstract

Pulau Padang forest vegetation is a typical peatswamp forest on ombrogenous peat, that is the most common peat in eastern coaat of Sumktcan. The peat is characterized by very acid d r a m watu and poorness in nutrients (oligotrophic).The surface of the peatswamp is abnest bsy~sdth e raech of flood-wata and tides, except for a thin layer of mangrove forest arround the coast. There are no nutrients entering the system from the mineral soil below the peat, and the only nutrients input comes from the nutrient-poor rain. Because of this conditions, there is a decrease toward the centre of the peat areas in the ammounts of mineral nutrients in the soil. This trend of infertility seems to be reflected by the: (1) decreasing canopy height; (2) decreasing total biomass per unit area; (3) increasing leaf thickness as an adaptation to poor soil; (4) decreasing species diversity and (5) abundance of poor nutrients indicator species, especially Nepenthes spp. This paper describe the vegetation structure and the composition of peatswamp forest in pulau Padang, Riau, including mixed peatswamp forest, Bintangor (Calophyllum spp.) forest and shrub vegetation. Intersting is the dominance of Calophyllum spp. and some other members of the Family Clusiaceae (Guttiferae) which is rarely reported as dominant species in peatswamp forest formation, however, Anderson (1976) has ever reported the dominance of Calophyllum retusum in the peatswamp forest in Sebangau, Kalimantan Tengah.

Abstract

Development of mobile communication (handphone) since 1995 has been very&nbsp;fast. One of facilities that contributes the development is application of WAP (Wireless&nbsp;Application Protocol), namely, a protocol that is used to link with Internet via&nbsp;handphone. WAP provides support for application developers so that they are able to&nbsp;use it for connection with network. The advancement of technology makes possible to&nbsp;build WAP application by using WML (Wireless Markup Language) script that has a&nbsp;broader scope The technology progress provides solution and contribution in area of real time&nbsp;communication system. Therefore, the research is attempting to develop a new system&nbsp;that uses computer technology and communication technology, especially WAP-based&nbsp;technology as well as Djikstra algorithm. The new system will provide navigation&nbsp;system for travelers who are visiting Surakarta Town. The trip navigation systemcontains information related to trip routes of a traveler such as road condition and to&nbsp;know the shortest route of road to road or of location to location and also, the system&nbsp;&nbsp;displays alternative paths if there is an obstacle along the main road to destination. The easy accessibility of a trip to destination will make a system user to reach&nbsp;her or his destination quickly and correctly without he or she asks for helps to people&nbsp;along a road about direction of his or her destination.

Abstract

This article departs from the Freidrich W. Nietzsche's issue on misunderstanding of God. He ‎thought that God was the product of poets (human engineering results). Thus, disassembling the order of truth existing in modern era with his adagium “God Is Dead.” This provides a new discourse of thought, which ‎arises from an anti-God view i.e. “anti-Christ” and hatred of absolutism which result the ‎truth relativism. Nietzsche's ideas greatly influenced the mainstream of liberalist; among them are the students of State Islamic university of Indonesia who declare an ignorance expression of Islam is not only the true religion. More over their claim about the God-freezone institution when welcoming new students. It is surely inappropriate exclamation cames from Muslim students in the country with majority Muslim in the world. Their attitude is the result of a thought that has been affected with the thoughts of Friedrich Wilhm Nietzsche "God is death." This work attempts to elaborate Nietzsche’s influence toward those Muslim collegers as well as the basic thought of their acts. In order to achieve the purpose, the author does not forget to describe the concept of God in Nietzsche's view and its influence on liberal thinking.

Abstract

The generating system of the Absorption Refrigeration Trainer with Solar Cell Panel Unit (RBA-ART-S) is one type of cooling systems. Working principle that exist in absorption system one of them using heater, while in vapor compression system, heat is discharged by condenser to environment. If the refrigerant in the absorption system gets additional heat from the condenser in the vapor compression system it will accelerate the heating of the refrigerant present in the absorption system. From the above statement, the authors do research on absorption machine with variation of heat source by using the heat from LPG gas and also with the addition of heat calorific source from the condenser of the vapor compression system, so that the heat from the condenser can be utilized. The parameters taken in this performance test are temperature. Based on the test results obtained niali COP in the absorption system by using LPG gas of 5.781 while the value of COP for the utilization of heat of condenser with LPG gas is 5.941. Thus the process of utilizing condenser heat and LPG gas (combinations) has a higher COP value, in other words there is an increase in performance with the utilization of exhaust heat from the condenser. Keywords: COP, Refrigeration, and Absorption

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Effect of Compensation and Job Satisfaction on Employee Performance of PT. Duta Logistik Asia. The entire population in this were employees at the company, amounting to 112 people, and at the same time served as sample of respondents.Variables in this study consisted of compensation, Job satisfaction as independent variables employee performance as the dependent variable. Multiple linear regression was used in this study. The results of the research that have been carried out give a conclusion: that compensation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, this is evidenced by the probability value 0.017 &lt; 0.05. While job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance at the level of significant 0.000 &lt; 0.05. So first and second hypotheses in the study declared, accepted. Another result is that compensation and job satisfaction, simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a significance 0.000 &lt; 0.05, thus the third hypothesis is accepted.Value of R2 in this is 68.2%, this means that the change in employee performance variables is influenced by compensation and satisfaction variables by 68.2% the rest is influenced by other variables that?s not included in this study.

Abstract

The enterprise network is a small, medium, or large-scale network in which there is a system built to meet the needs of internal users in accessing intranet, extranet, and remote systems applications. Network availability can be improved by applying redundant networks and hierarchical networks. Redundant links function as fault tolerant when there are links or networking devices that do not work. The purpose of this research is to replace the topology tree network with enterprise network. Implementation of enterprise network in SMK N 2 Yogyakarta is designed in accordance with the needs of school networks. Enterprise networks implement VLAN and RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol). The network is implemented by adding core layer and distribution layer while the access layer is fixed. At core layer and distribution layer apply redundant link by using Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol. From the results of implementation and testing proved that network availability increased by applying redundant links.
