Abstract

Penelitian tentang “Analisis Kesesuaian Cakupan Materi dalam Bahan Ajar dengan Kompetensi Dasar pada Buku Teks Biologi SMP” ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya buku teks yang relevan dengan kurikulum yang salah satunya harus relevan dengan tuntutan kompetensi dasar sehingga buku tersebut dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan. Penelitian deskriptif ini, bertujuan menganalisis kesesuaian cakupan materi dalam bahan ajar dengan kompetensi dasar pada buku teks Biologi Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran di sekolah. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah semua materi pada buku teks Biologi SMP yang dianalisis dan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah sebagian materi dalam buku teks yang diambil melalui purposive sampling berdasarkan konsep besar Biologi. Buku teks yang dianalisis adalah buku yang telah lulus BSNP dan penilaian Pusat Perbukuan (Pusbuk) serta buku yang banyak digunakan oleh siswa SMP di Kota Bandung. Data dijaring dengan menggunakan format pengamatan kesesuaian materi dengan kompetensi dasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa secara keseluruhan buku yang dianalisis belum sesuai dengan kompetensi dasar pada kurikulum yang berlaku yaitu KTSP.  Kata kunci: Materi, bahan ajar, kompetensi dasar

Abstract

Penelitian berjudul “Analisis Buku Teks Biologi  SMP Di Kota Bandung Berdasarkan Hakikat Sains” bertujuan untuk menganalisis ruang lingkup hakikat sains pada buku teks pelajaran Biologi SMP di Kota Bandung. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua halaman materi pada buku teks pelajaran Biologi SMP yang dianalisis. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah beberapa halaman pada buku yang dianalisis yang diambil secara acak dengan teknik multistage sampling. Data dijaring menggunakan lembar indikator hakikat sains yang diadaptasi dari jurnal Lederman et al. (2002). Hasil rata-rata proporsi komponen hakikat sains pada buku yang dianalisis adalah sains bersifat empiris (9,7%), teori dan hukum dalam sains (67%), kreativitas dan imajinasi dalam sains (6%), teori Laden (4%), sosial budaya yang melekat dalam sains (7,8%), mitos metode ilmiah (3%), dan sifat tentatif ilmu pengetahuan (2,5%). Data menunjukan bahwa buku teks Biologi SMP di Bandung sudah mengandung ketujuh komponen hakikat sains, namun proporsinya tidak seimbang. Data kuesioner menunjukan bahwa pandangan hakikat sains siswa berada pada kategori rendah (56%) dan pengetahuan siswa tentang hakikat sains lebih banyak didapat dari buku teks. Kata kunci : buku teks, hakikat sains.

Abstract

Scientific inquiry is the main objective of science education. However, its practice was not as we want it to be. This research objective was to explore prospective biology teachers’ and science teachers’ views on scientific inquiry. Thirty four-seventh semester biology students and 25 science teachers participated in this research. Scientific inquiry was explored using Views About Scientific Inquiry (VASI) Questionnaire. Results showed that understanding level of pre-service biology teachers was better than science teachers understanding in some aspects of scientific inquiry. However, both respondents lack understanding of some aspects in scientific inquiry, i.e. scientific investigation characteristics, an investigation begin with a question, question guides a procedure, scientific evidence, procedure selection, and the  relation  data collecting  and previous investigation.ABSTRAKInkuiri ilmiah merupakan salah satu tujuan penting dalam pembelajaran sains yang disarankan kurikulum namun pelaksanaannya tidak seperti yang diinginkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi pemahaman inkuri ilmiah mahasiswa calon guru biologi/IPA dan guru IPA. Sebanyak 34 orang mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Biologi semester 7 dan 25 orang guru IPA terlibat dalam penelitian ini. Gambaran pemahaman inkuiri ilmiah dieksplor dengan menggunakan kuesioner VASI (Views About Scientific Inquiry. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman mahasiswa calon guru Biologi/IPA lebih baik daripada guru IPA pada beberapa aspek inkuiri ilmiah. Namun demikian, kedua kelompok responden masih memiliki pemahaman yang kurang pada aspek karakteristik penyelidikan ilmiah, fungsi pertanyaan dalam sebuah penelitian, hubungan antara pertanyaan, prosedur dan kesimpulan. Kedua kelompok juga belum memahami tentang bukti ilmiah, alasan memilih prosedur, dan hubungan antara data yang ditemukan dengan penelitian sebelumnya.

Abstract

This study assessed biology students’ and science teachers’ views on the nature of science (NOS). Aspects of NOS included science definition, empiric, experiment, experiment in scientific knowledge development, tentative, scientific theories and laws, subjective (theory-laden), social and culture embededness, creative and imaginative. Participants were 34 undergraduate preservice biology teachers at seventh semester and 23 science teachers enrolled in the training. An open-ended questionaire of NOS (VNOS-C) adapt from Lederman, et al., (2002) coupled with some individuals interviews was used to assess participants’ NOS views before and after training. All answers were categorized based on Abd-El-Khalick & Akerson (2009): informed, partially informed, and naive Before training, the majority of participants held naive views of the target NOS except subjective. During the training explisit reflective approaches were used with inquiry teaching. Post-training assessment indicated that there were improvement of participants’ views on NOS. Nearly all aspects were improve with varied percentage of improvement, the range were 10%-55%, except social and culture embededness decreased. The result of the present study suggested the teaching method in preservice and inservice teacher education should more intensively use inquiry teaching and emphasize on nature of science.

Abstract

This paper purpose to investigate the relationship between student’ reasoning abilities withargumentation skills in digestive system concept through PBL (Problem Based Learning). Thisresearch use correlational research method with reasoning multiple choice test as an instrument tomeasure the student’ reasoning abilities and argumentation sheet which have been adapted fromToulmin’s Argumentation Pattern (TAP) to measure student’ argumentation skills. Subject of thisresearch are second grade students of senior high school in West Bandung Regency. Data analysisshow that student’ reasoning abilities and argumentation skill have a strong positive relationship. Thisrelationship can be shown by the result of the correlation coefficient calculation about 0,76 withdetermination coefficient about 57,76%.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the influence of field trip on scientific literacy and attitude towards science of senior high school students before and after the field trip implemetation in ecosystem learning. The research was conducted in SMAN I Pangalengan. The method which was used in this research is Quasi Experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design as the design. The result shows that there are significant difference in scientific literacy between the control class where discussion was applied and the experimental class where field trip was applied, with t = 0.003 and α = 0.05. The result also shows that there is a significant attitude between the control and experimental class, with t = 0.003 and α = 0.05. Those results show that field trip gives significant effect on high school student's scientific literacy and attitude towards science in ecosystem concept.

Abstract

Teachers improve learning activity and creativity of students in ecosystem that is using a field trip. Students activities in a field trip are guided through a worksheet to facilitate their observation. Field trip activities implemented in place of Wahana Edukasi Global (WAGLO) Cisalak of Subang District, West Java Province. This study aims to identify and analyze creative thinking ability of students in carrying out field trip. The method used was weak experimental design with one group pretest-posttest. Population subjects in this study were students of grade 10th MA Al-Husna Cisalak Subang District West Java Province. The sample is determined by purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done through a test of creative thinking ability that given at the beginning and end of learning. Data was analyzed by calculating N-gain test result. The results showed that field trip provide enhanced creative thinking ability of students with index N-gain of 0.48 is included in the medium category.

Abstract

Exploring Critical Thinking And Students Curiosity Through Simple Inquiry Laboratory Activity. This study is a preliminary research to explore critical thinking skills and students curiosity of primary school in understanding science through simple inquiry laboratory activities. Participants are 20 students of 4th grade from one of the primary schools in Bandung. The researcher uses descriptive method to describe student activity during learning, student idea, and student's response in learning, obtained through personal communication, student worksheet and questionnaire. In the first lab activity, researchers used plasticine to explore students' ideas for design 3 objects for exploring science concept namely "floating, drifting and sinking. In the second activity students are directed to apply the concept that has been obtained in the first activity, which is they should selecting and classify red bean and corn with good quality and bad quality that used to be seeds. The results show that critical thinking ability and students curiosity begin look when they design objects that are expected for floating and drifting. Students are enthusiastic about experimenting and trying to recreate if their plasticine design fails. Trial and error activities are also stimulate them to continue their idea to find the right design objects. That concepts can be applied by student in daily life to select and classify seeds with good and less quality, and they are enthusiastic to plant it and compare it growth.
