Abstract

Peningkatan produksi susu dapat dilakukan melalui program cow replacement dengan pemeliharaan pedet yang optimal sebelum disapih. Hal ini dapat dicapai dengan pemberian pakan starter (calf starter dan sumber serat) bersama susu atau susu pengganti setelah lahir untuk mempercepat perkembangan rumen. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengkaji penggunaan susu bubuk kedaluwarsa sebagai binder dalam complete calf starter (CCS) dan pengaruhnya terhadap perkembangan retikulo-rumen pedet pra sapih. Materi yang digunakan jerami jagung, jagung kuning, bungkil kedelai, dedak halus, premix dan pedet PFH pra sapih umur 1-2 minggu, bobot badan ±32 kg. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap terdiri dari 3 perlakuan. Perlakuan: I. Pellet 100% CCS (tanpa binder) (P0); II : Pellet 90% CCS + 10% susu bubuk kedaluwarsa (P10) ; III: Pellet 80% CCS + 20% susu bubuk kedaluwarsa (P20). Variabel yang diamati adalah kualitas kimia, fisik organoleptik (hardnees dan durability)  dan kualitas biologis (konsumsi, pertambahan bobot badan harian (pbbh), kadar gula dan VFA darah).  Data diolah dengan analisis variansi dilanjutkan dengan uji ganda Duncan. Uji biologis pada pedet umur 3 minggu, menghasilkan konsumsi, pbbh, konsentrasi gula dan VFA darah masih dalam kisaran normal.  Disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan susu bubuk kadaluwarsa hingga 20% dalam CCS dapat diberikan pada pedet PFH umur 2 minggu dan menghasilkan  indicator perkembangan rumen pedet yang baik

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of garlic extract (GE) in rations on the bloodcholesterol profiles of aflatoxin B-induced hepatotoxic in the early stage of broiler chickens. As many as140 one-day old chicks were used in this study. They were randomly divided into 16 treatment groups andeach group consists of 9 chickens. The experimental design adopted in this study was completely randomizedfactorial design consisting 4 concentrations of aflatoxin (A0 : 0 ppb, A1:500 ppb, A2: 1000 ppb and A3:1500 ppb) and 4 concentrations of garlic extract (B0: 0% B1:2% B2: 4% and B3 6%). The treatment wascarried out for 21 days. The serum levels of total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL) and highdensity lipoprotein (HDL), and HDL/LDL ratio were the examined. The result showed that Aflatoxin Bcaused hepatotoxicosis in broiler chickens indicated by the increase of total cholesterol and LDL, and thedecrease of HDL and HDL-LDL ratio. Treatment of chickens with 2% GE decreased total cholesterol andLDL level in serum, and increased HDL level and HDL-LDL ratio. No interaction effect was observedbetween aflatoxin B and GE extract treatments. It is evident that treatment of Garlic extract reduces thehepatotoxicosis effect of aflatoxin B treatment in broiler chickens.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the type of plants for honeybees forages in Pakem Sleman and Nglipar Gunungkidul. This research was conducted from 16 March to 12 May 2016. The method used was direct observation in the plantations, fields, and forests. The type of plants observed were dominant plants, so can be developed beekeeping, honey. To determine the type of plants that produce nectar and pollen, one or two samples of flower in each plant were taken, then the availability of nectar and pollen was checked. The data of honeybees forage types were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the type of honeybees forages in Pakem Sleman consisted of coconut, coffee, banana, calliandra, avocado, rice, albizia, chili, tomato, long beans, mustard green, maize, cucumber, melinjo, mahogany, cassava, and cherry. Honeybees forages in Nglipar Gunungkidul consisted of coconut, albizia, acacia, banana, peanuts, tamarind, eucalyptus, rambutan, sorghum, cacao, soybeans, cassava, maize, rice, rose wood, mahogany, and cherry. Thus, Pakem Sleman and Nglipar Gunungkidul have great potential for development of beekeeping honey.

Abstract

Integrated Bio-Cycle Farming System was developed by KP4 University Farm UGM Yogyakarta should be implemented to the communities. The community service for implementation of science and technology starting with an MOU between KP4 and the government of Margoagung village, especially Farmer Group RUKUN, Margoagung, Seyegan, Sleman that requiring transferred technology. Community service programs and assistance through the transfer of integrated bio-cycle farming system were done through development of burgers feed technology for cows, solid fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, and waste treatment technology for biogas. This activity also involves 22 students from various faculties at UGM for 2 months in the field. The technology is transferred directly by experts from GMU and directly accompanied intensively by student. Enthusiastic, productivity, quantity, quality and continuity of integrated farming were very important for a better life and environment.

Abstract

Fermented complete feed (CF) based forage-fodder and agricultural by product as feed for ruminants can be implemented in the household and industrial purpose. Complete feed technology is one of alternative to solve the problems of stock and quality of feed. The nutritional value can be set by determine the number and type of mixture, livestock will not has an opportunity to choose so that it can minimize residual feed, practical, and can be stored for long periods. Fermented complete feed very much match to be implemented in the dry season or in the emergency situation. During Merapi Volcano eruption in 2010 was one of moment which is need CF technology. Rice straw can used for CF that can be socked during dry season, also the quality might improve (from 3—4% of crude protein content became 7—8%) with addition of rice brand or other ingredients. Fermented complete feed based on rice straw, forage-fodder or agricultural by product has a multifungtion in the emergency situation, reduce disaster risk, and feed security conservation.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the occurrence of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in various milk products marketed in Yogyakarta Province (Indonesia) and to estimate the exposure of aflatoxin through contaminated milk consumption. Fresh milk (n=20), pasteurized milk (n=16), and recombined milk products (n=6) were sampled for AFM1 concentration testing by a competitive ELISA test using ELISA kit for AFM1 assay. A survey was conducted to interview consumers (n=88) on milk consumption habit (milk type and amount of consumption). ELISA assays showed 92.5% of samples werecontaminated with AFM1 in a range of 24-570 ng/L (average: 216 ng/L). The highest average AFM1 concentration was detected in pasteurized milk sample (244 ng/L), followed by fresh milk (219 ng/L), and the lowest was in recombined milk sample (131 ng/L). However, 100% of recombined milk samples had AFM1 concentration >50-500 ng/L. Thus, recombined milk product was most likely the main source of AFM1 intake due to its high daily consumption in all age groups. Based on AFM1 levels found in milk and consumption of corresponding milk sample, it was estimated that the overall AFM1 exposure ranges from 1.23 ng/kg body weight/day (in 6-15 year-old children) up to 5.26 ng/kg body weight/day (in 3-5 year-old children). In conclusion, this study revealed high occurrences of AFM1 dairy milk marketed in Yogyakarta. Although levels of AFM1 contamination were in Indonesian regulatory limit, high exposure of aflatoxin found in all age groups of consumer. Thus, this preliminary study provides evidence that AFM1 contaminated milk is a serious public health hazard in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract.  The aim of this research was to study the effects of rumen by pass protein-fat supplementation (RBPF) on feed intake, nutrients digestibility and profile of duodenal digesta of fatty acids. Two rumen fistulated and duodenum canulated dairy cows were fed ration that consisted of king grass and concentrate (60:40). The concentrate was supplemented with 20% RBPF. The feeding trial was conducted for four weeks in which the first week was the control period, the second week was the adaptation period, the third week was the early collection period and finally the fourth week was the late collection period. The samples of duodenal digesta were collected 1 hour before morning feeding and 1, 3 and 5 hours after morning feeding. The cows were fed twice a day and concentrate was offered before forage. The results showed that in comparison to the control, supplementation of RBPF increased nutrients intake of dry matter (DM) (6.95 vs. 6.27%), organic matter (OM) (6.20 vs. 5.70%), crude fat (CF) (0.49 vs. 0.41%), crude fiber (CFb) (1.84 vs. 1.49%) and nitrogen free extract (NFE) (3.23 vs. 3.03%), while the crude protein (CP) intake decreased (0.64 vs. 0.77%). Supplementation of RBPF improved the nutrients digestibility of dry matter (67.24 vs. 62.15%), organic matter (68.71 vs. 65.29%), crude fiber (66.20 vs. 57.46%) and nitrogen free extract (72.37 vs. 66.47%). RBPF supplementation also increased linoleic acid content in duodenal digesta sample at 1and 3 hours after feeding. In conclusion, RBPF supplementation did not negatively affect feed intake and nutrient digestibility. RBPF also increased the proportion of linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexsaenoic acid (DHA) in duodenal digesta until 3 hours after feeding. Key words: RBPF, supplementation, feed intake, nutrient digestibility, fatty acid Abstrak.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh  suplementasi protein-lemak by pass rumen terhadap konsumsi, kecernaan nutrien serta profil asam lemak pada digesta duodenum sapi perah. Dua ekor sapi perah berfistula rumen dan berkanula duodenum diberi pakan hijauan dan konsentrat dengan rasio 60:40, diberi suplemen protein-lemak by pass rumen 20% dari konsentrat.  Percobaan dilakukan selama 4 minggu, minggu pertama adalah periode kontrol, minggu ke-2 periode adaptasi, minggu ke-3 periode koleksi awal dan minggu ke-4 periode koleksi akhir. Sampel digesta duodenum diambil 1 jam sebelum pemberian pakan dan 1; 3 serta 5 jam setelah pemberian pakan. Ransum diberikan dua kali sehari dengan konsentrat lebih dulu sebelum hijauan. Dibanding periode kontrol, suplementasi protein lemak by pass rumen sebanyak 20% menaikkan konsumsi bahan kering (BK) (6,95 vs 6,27%), bahan organik (BO) (6,20 vs 5,70%), lemak kasar (LK) (0,49 vs 0,41%), serat kasar (SK) (1,84 vs 1,49%) dan bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen (BETN) (3,23 vs 3,03%) tetapi menurunkan konsumsi protein kasar (PK) (0,64 vs 0,77%). Suplementasi protein lemak by pass rumen juga memberikan kecernaan BK, BO, SK dan BETN ( 67,24 vs 62,15%; 68,71 vs 65,29%; 66,20 vs 57,46%; 72,37 vs 66,47%) yang lebih tinggi dibanding kontrol. Suplementasi lemak  by pass rumen juga menaikkan proporsi asam lemak linolenat pada jam ke-1 dan ke-3 setelah makan. Pemberian protein-lemak by pass rumen dalam ransum tidak berpengaruh negatif terhadap konsumsi dan kecernaan nutrien pakan serta meningkatkan proporsi asam lemak linoleat, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) dan DHA (docosahexsaenoic acid) digesta duodenum. Kata kunci: protein lemak by pass rumen, suplementasi, konsumsi, kecernaan nutrien, asam lemak
