Abstract

Teaching Arabic as a foreign language (TAFL) in Indonesia has been interest of many scholars, but studies on TAFL in the context of industrial revolution (IR) 4.0 have been rarely conducted. This qualitative study was aimed at investigating the challenges and opportunities in accelerating the quality of Arabic language instruction in the IR 4.0 era. Qualitative data analysis consisting of four steps, namely, data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification was applied to analyze the gathered data. According to the research results, the challenges are the following: Arabic language teachers? limited adaptation to technology, students? low motivation to learn, and uncertainty of policies on TAFL practices. The opportunities to effectively establish Arabic teaching and learning are government support, demands on Arabic language skills in modern workplaces, and availability of interactive multimedia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berusaha mengidentifikasi beberapa tingkatan dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar bahasa Arab menurut Rusydi Ahmad Thu‘aimah. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dan menggunakan pendekatan analisis teks sehingga tidak perlu memapaparkan data angka dalam interpretasi hasilnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Rusydi Ahmad Thu‘aimah dalam karyanya, Ta‘lîm al-‘Arabiyyah li ghair al-Nâthiqîn bihâ, menjelaskan berbagai tingkatan dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar bahasa Arab baik dari segi unsur kebahasaan maupun keterampilan berbahasa. Beliau juga menjelaskan berbagai tujuan dari belajar mengajar bahasa Arab. DOI: 10.15408/a.v1i1.1135

Abstract

This research was aimed to identify the relation between classroom classification based on the cognitive level and students’ achievement in learning Arabic language. The method used in this research was quantitative using the samples all the 8th grade of MTsN 2 Jagakarsa, 50 students academic year 2012/2013. The research found that there was no relationship between classifying students based on their cognitive level and their achievement in Arabic language with the value (-0,130). This value is between (0,00 – 0,20) meaning that there is no correlation between those two variables. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected and the null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted or there was no relationship between the variables.DOI: 10.24865/ajas.v1i2.14

Abstract

This research aims to obtain an overview of the profiles of lecturers based on webometrics, a general description of webometrics-based facilities at UIN Jakarta, and the profiles of the lecturers on Google Scholar. The method used in this study is a survey method, especially in taking the respondents as a data source. In presenting the data, this study uses descriptive analysis method which illustrates the results obtained from the survey of the profiles of FITK (Faculty of Education and Teachers Training) lecturers on Google Scholar. The study was conducted within a period of 6 months (April 1st to September 31st, 2015). List of Ranks shows the number of permanent lecturers (civil servants) of FITK UIN Jakarta is 163 lecturers. Nevertheless, after conducting a tracking study, there are 35 lecturers only who already have a profile account on Google Scholar. Out of 35 lecturers, only 19 lecturers have values in citations, h-index, and h10-index. Prof. Dr. Abuddin Nata, M.A. is the most prolific and most widely cited lecturer on Google Scholar in the Faculty of Education and Teachers Training (FITK) of UIN Jakarta. His scientific works have been cited 1600 times in other works. He has also the highest h-index value, 17 (seventeen), and the highest i10-index, 21 (twenty one).

Abstract

In the age of technological advancement, gadget has an important role in the various activities of a person, no exception in learning. With a variety of applications offered by platform providers, both android and iOS. Now one can learn something independently. Busuu is an application developed to help a person in learning foreign languages independently, such as learning Arabic independently. Learning paths used in this application have been using international standards, ranging from beginner level (A1), basic level (A2), intermediate level (B1), and advanced (B2). This application provides learning materials in the form of audio visual that can improve the four skills of Arabic language. Optimizing the usage of Busuu applications is very likely to prepare someone to be able to communicate in Arabic.

Abstract

AbstractLiterature (al-Adab) is the delivery of something by the processing of deep feelings that are full of value and art about the image that will be given and expressed in a certain form with certain rules as well. Periodization of literature begins since the period of ignorance, the period of Islam which includes Daulah Umayyah, continued Abbasiyah period, Turki Usmani, and the last modern period. While the purpose of learning literature among them to increase knowledge and understanding of students to literature to life more directed and become good; also help students understand the social limps in their lives and at the same time how to play a role to overcome them.AbstrakSastra (al-Adab) adalah penyampaian sesuatu dengan pengolahan perasaan yang mendalam yang sarat nilai dan seni tentang gambaran yang akan diberikan dan diekspresikan dalam bentuk tertentu dengan kaidah-kaidah yang tertentu pula. Periodisasi sastra dimulai sejak periode jahiliyah, periode Islam yang didalamnya termasuk Daulah Umayyah, dilanjutkan periode Abbasiyah, Turki Usmani, dan terakhir periode modern. Sementara tujuan dari pembelajaran sastra di antaranya untuk menambah pengetahuan dan pemahaman siswa terhadap sastra hingga hidupnya lebih terarah dan menjadi baik; juga membantu siswa memahami kepincangan sosial dalam kehidupannya dan sekaligus cara memainkan peran untuk mengatasinya.

Abstract

Today, it is not surprising to say that there is a swiftly rising use of internet in education. Internet with the enormous features has provided up prospects for rich and ground-breaking approaches to deal with educational issues and present solutions to the escalating needs for learning resources. Despite this fact, it is still found few studies and practices of utilizing the internet as the media in the field of teaching Arabic as foreign language. This paper specifically focuses on elaborating the use of YouTube in Arabic language classroom. It is attempting to give the answer for some following questions: why using YouTube as Arabic language learning media? How to search for learning resources on YouTube? What Arabic skills and competencies can be trained? How to effectively integrate these resources in the Arabic language classroom? How to do the internet source evaluation? How to find out which the students prefer? What are the strengths and weaknesses of YouTube as learning media? This paper ends its conclusion by recommending the Arabic language teachers to use sources available on YouTube but they must selectively give to the students.

Abstract

The article aims to reveal the role of electronic social media such as youtube, instagram, and facebook as alternative media for Arabic teaching. The article employed a qualitative method through literature approach revealing phenomenon that are developing in the Arabic teaching. It is true that the three social media are alternative media that can be used by teachers in teaching Arabic. Students of elementary to secondary school, further students of college commonly use the three social media. The use of social media in the learning process is very likely may improve students? motivation and interest. In addition, Arabic teaching will of course not bordered by space since it can be conducted anywhere
