Abstract

Sea urchin is one type of aquatic biota that comes from echinoderms phylum. Biota is very abundant along the beach Trikora Bintan Island. This study aims to characterize and analyze the antioxidant activity and bioactive components contained in the crude extract of hexan and methanol sea urchins. Based on the results of this study, this biota has yield shell, thorn, viscera and gonad that is 42.62%, 18.07%, 27.31% and 12%. The result of extract of crude extract of intact fur with methanol (UMeOH), whole with hexan (UHx), gonad with methanol (GMeOH) and gonad with hexan (GHx) obtained yield of 2.37%, 3.19%, 9.87% and 6.06%. result of bioactive component analysis got 5 kinds of bioactive among them alkaloid, steroid, flavonoid, saponin and phenol hidroquinon. Analysis of antioxidant activity of crude extract of pig bristle with DPPH method obtained results for UMeOH, UHx, GMeOH and GHx is 3003 ppm, 3508 ppm, 1485 ppm dan 1420 ppm.

Abstract

Meretrix meretrix was one of gastropods seawater has been used by people as a food. These shells are still categorized of bycatch and have not explored the benefits. This study aimed to characterize and analyze the content of bioactive Meretrix meretrix. This research was conducted morphological characterization shellfish sensory, measurement of yield, the content of the proximate analysis, heavy metals, and analysis of bioactive compounds from the extracts of water and methanol. Observation found that the Meretrix meretrix has a yellowish white color with black bars at the end of the shell and the white meat and chewy with a yield of meat and shells of 11.09% and 69.85%. Analysis of water content, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrates respectively by 79.99%, 1.50%, 0.22%, 9.42% and 8.81%. Heavy metal obtained  8x10-4 ppm Hg content, 13x10-4 ppm Pb, Cd, and Cu 45x10-4 and 88x10-4 ppm. Bioactive compounds in water and methanol extract of shellfish Lamis including alkaloids, steroids, and saponins.

Abstract

Morphological identification as an alternative sex identification of dog conch without damaging the shell and viscera. The study aimed to identify the gender of the dog conch Strombus sp. by morphology. Samples were obtained from fishermen collecting dog conch on the coast of Madung, Tanjungpinang, Indonesia. Samples were collected by hand at low tide. To distinguish between male and female dog conch is done by looking at the shell structure morphologically without seeing the internal organs of the body shell. To see the gonads or reproductive organs is done by removing the whole dog conch by breaking the shell. The shell length was measured using by caliper a precision 0.01 mm. The length of the shell is the distance from the anterior edge to the posterior end of the shell. To know the sex ratio of dog conch type analyzed chi-square. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that of the total sample of 1124 individuals, obtained two types of dog conch are Strombus canarium and Strombus sp. The determination of the gender of morphological dog conch can be seen from the structure of the shell (width and slim). The wide shell shape signifies a female, a slim form of shell signifying a male. The sex ratio of dog conch type S. canarium and Strombus sp. males and females in different ratios.

Abstract

Meretrix meretrix is one of the shells of sea water are widely utilized by people as food. This clamalso has many properties and benefits, so in this study tested the effect of the water extract of Meretrixmeretrix against blood chemistry profile Sprague Dawley rats with the method (OECD 413: 2009). Based onobservations obtained growth, feed intake, weight of liver and kidney in normal conditions. Levels of urea,creatinine, cholesterol between the control mice treated with A/0.1 and A/1 were not significantly different(p> 0.05) while the levels of bilirubin and albumin between control mice treated with A/0.1 and A/1 resultssignificantly different (p<0.05), but all blood chemistry parameters tested is still in the normal category.

Abstract

Ipong-ipong snail (Fasciolaria salmo) is one of sea water gastropods that have not been utilized optimally. People believe that the snail has the ef? cacies for increasing stamina and vitality. However, scienti? c data supporting the ef? cacy of this snail has not been elucidated yet. The purposes of this research was determined the yield, chemical content (water, protein, fat, ash, acid insoluble ash and carbohydrates), bioactive components and antioxidant activity. The yield of shells, meat, and viscera were 69.69%, 22.08% and 8.22%, respectively. Watercontent, protein, fat, ash, acid insoluble ash and carbohydrates were 73.075%, 18.28%, 0.575%, 2.77%, 0.15% and 5.2%, respecitevely. Six bioactive components were detected i.e alkaloids, steroids, reducing sugars, carbohydrates, peptides and amino acids. Antioxidant activity using DPPH method obtained the result IC50 of the meat extract with chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol solvent were 9210 ppm, 6825 ppm, 1513.8 ppm, respectively. Meanwhile for viscera extract were. 2825 ppm, 4600 ppm and 994,47 ppm, respectively.Keywords: antioxidants, bioactives, Fasciolaria salmo, proximate, yield.
