Abstract

Abstract

This study was conducted in patients with clinical stroke. The results showed that 61.3% patients had cerebral infarction, 33.0% hemorrhagic lesions and 5.7% was normal by CT scan examination. 12 of 29 hemorrhagic lesionswere associated with in [raven tri cular bleeding and these lesions have a poor prognosis. The cerebral infarctions were located mostly in capsula interna and nucleus le n tiforrnis, but the thalamus and capsula interna demonstrated as the main location for hemorrhagic lessons. The usefulness of CT scan in stroke lies especially in detecting the location, extension of lesion and in differentiating between ischemic and hemorrhagic lesions.Key Words: CT scan - in traventricular bleeding - hem iparesis - cerebral infarction - stroke

Abstract

Key Words : hepatocellular carcinoma transcatheter arterial chemoembolizati on infusion chemotherapy anticancer drugs angiography

Abstract

The application of X-rays in the medical field has positive and negative effects. The effects of X-ray radiation to the intrauterine embryo and foetus depend on the period of gestation. In the first trimester the embryo may be resorbed and aborted and may also be born with serious defects. In the late trimester radiation may cause less serious defects and it may disturb the function of organs. Many defects involve nerve names and are associated with symptoms of mental retardation. To prevent radiation exposure to embryo and foetus, it is necessary to observe the "ten -day rule", when X -ray examination is performed. The threshold doses for embryo and foetus are still unknown.Key Words: physical deformity - mental retardation - radiobiology - radiation injury - teratogenic effect

Abstract

Non-ionic (Iopamiro) and ionic (Urografin 76%) contrast media were used for intravenous urographic examination. Three patients (6%) showed symptoms of side effect in ionic group; two of them without allergy history, but only one patient had an experience of allergy to shrimp, penicillin and dust. The symptoms of reaction were chills, dizziness and febris. There was no reaction in non-ionic group patients. The density of contrast media was superior in using Iopamiro.Key Words : intravenous urography - Iopamiro - Urografin 76% - allergy - radiology

Abstract

Key VVords: anticancer drugs - embolization - hepatocellular carcinoma - hepatoma - lipiodol

Abstract

Intracranial ependymoma is an uncommon central nervous system neoplasms which happens in all age groups but has higher incidence occurring in the posterior fossa in infants and children. The location of the tumor is in the ventricle system, especially the fourth ventricle. Depending on its position to tentorium, the tumors can be divided into supratentorial and infratentorial. Hydrocephalus and calcifications usually occur in both types of tumors. Ependymomas have unspecific and varied appearance in density on computed tomography examination, but most of them are isodense. The supratentorial ependymoma tends to be hypodense, cystic-like lesion and enhanced (homogenous and nonhomogenous) after contrast, injection. The Infratentorial ependymoma are mostly hypodense and similar enhancement to supratentorial tumor. Treatments consist of surgical resection and radiotherapy, but the overall results are not very effective. Keywords : ependymoma - infratentorial tumor - supratentorial tumor - contrast enhancement
