Abstract

Proses pemulihan Indeks DST sebanding dengan proses pemulihan TEC yakni 5 hari mulai dari tanggal 18–23 Maret 2015.The ionosphere is part of the layer of the Earth's atmosphere whose dynamics are very influential on the earth's communication and navigation systems that rely on the ionosphere as a propagation medium or reflection. Solar storms greatly influence changes in ionospheric parameters. This study aims to evaluate Manado's ionospheric response to solar storms in March 2015.This research is using the analysis of the amount of electron content (TEC, Total Electron Content) and geomagnetic interference index (DST, Distributing Storm Time). The results showed that there was a decrease in the DST index of -223nT on March 18, 2015, which was followed by a decrease in TEC of 20.85 TECU two hours later. The recovery process of the DST Index is comparable to the TEC recovery process, which is 5 days from March 18-23 2015

Abstract

This study investigated the effects of immersive multimedia language learning technique on performance in English in terms of oral production skills in reading and speaking that involved six measures, namely, pausing, phrasing, stress, intonation, rate, and integration without the mediation of the first language of the students amongst both males and females. A quasi-experimental design was employed for the study. Eighty first-year university students enrolled in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) course were selected for this study and the teaching treatment was followed for eight sessions with one session per week. Data were analysed using one-way ANOVA. The findings showed that following the immersive multimedia learning, male students in the immersive multimedia group with peer support performed significantly better in four of the six measures of reading skills, namely, phrasing, stress, intonation, and integration as compared to their counterparts in the non-peer supported groups and there were no significant differences for pausing and rate. On the other hand, female students in the immersive multimedia learning with peer support group performed significantly better in all six measures of oral production for reading and speaking than their counterparts in the groups without peer support.  These findings showed that the immersive multimedia technique with peer support reduced the use of code-switching strategies by the students and enabled them to develop oral production skills in English approaching the patterns of native speakers especially amongst the female students.

Abstract

Laweyan, a traditional village, has existed before 1500 AD. As the trade center yarn (clothing material) of Pajang Kingdom, its presence meant after Kyai Ageng Anis (descendant of Brawijaya V) and grandson Raden Ngabehi Lor Ing Pasar who later became the first king of Mataram settled in Laweyan in 1546. Laweyan entrepreneurship in the communities ushered in the heyday of batik economic in century. Successfulness in the field of economy turned an impact on development in various fields, helped shape the pattern of space and environment. Spatial pattern and traditional settlements are usually much characterized by the mass of buildings that have appeared in the form of walls covered choke and surrounded by alley or narrow street, as seen in Laweyan with the existence of high ‘beteng’ which raises many narrow alleys and a Laweyan hallmark not only as a security but also one of the merchants attempt to maintain the privacy and obtain local authority in the community.
