Abstract

This study aims to improve the activity and the learning achievement of students in the geography subjects by using geospatial media. This action research conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Metro in the second semester of academic year 2011-2012, Grade 12 IPS 1 with of 17 learners. The data was collected through observation by collaborators, with observation instruments. The instrument that used are observation and assessment for observing the activity of the learner. Meanwhile the instruments aim to observing the teacher’s ability in making plan and implementing in the teaching and learning processs. Activities and achievements of learners from cycle 1 to cycle 3 showed good progress. Learners activities were indicated from observations on the learning process, that leads to positive change in cycle 3, where there is no more passive learners. All learners did activities that support the learning process, and could utilize geospatial media by using netbooks and mobile phones. For the achievement of learners showed by good improvement. The researchers stop the action research, and can be concluded that the use of geospatial media can enhance the activity and the learning achievement of students geographic subjects in SMA Negeri 1 Metro.Keywords: geospatial media, activities, achievements

Abstract

This study aims to analyze: (1) lesson plan design that are implemented to the learning material of environment map reading by using the method of demonstration, (2) learning material  activity of  environment map reading using the demonstration, (3) the evaluation of learning outcomes map reading material the demonstration method, and (4) the increase the ability to read a map by using the method of demonstration. The research method used was classroom action research through three cycles. The subjects was the fourth grade class. The results can be concluded (1) design lesson plans with demonstration methods include classroom presentations and group learning through the exploration phase, elaboration, and confirmation, (2)  implementation of learning by demonstration method can increase the activity of students (3) the learning evaluation system was done by using test (4) achievement of KKM in the first cycle as much as 48%, the second cycle 68 %, and third cycle of 84%.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: (1) desain RPP yang dapat diimplementasikan ke dalam pembelajaran materi membaca peta lingkungan dengan menggunakan metode demonstrasi, (2) aktivitas pembelajaran materi membaca peta lingkungan dengan menggunakan metode demonstrasi, (3) pelaksanaan evaluasi hasil belajar materi membaca peta dengan metode demonstrasi, dan (4) peningkatan kemampuan  membaca peta dengan menggunakan metode demonstrasi. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan tiga siklus. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan (1) desain RPP menggunakan  metode demonstrasi  yang  meliputi presentasi kelas dan belajar dalam kelompok melalui tahap eksplorasi, elaborasi, dan konfirmasi, (2) pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan metode demonstrasi dapat meningkatkan aktivitas siswa (3) sistem evaluasi pembelajaran dilakukan dengan (4)  pencapaian KKM pada siklus pertama sebanyak 48%, siklus kedua 68%, dan siklus ketiga 84%.      Kata Kunci: aktivitas, metode demonstrasi,membaca peta.
