Abstract

Curiosity is a basic important aspect encourages students in finding various information which, in turn, aid them to encompass the concept learnt. This descriptive research aimed at elaborating the curiosity profile of junior high school students in science learning, particularly in excretion system topic who were taught using the authentic inquiry learning. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 14 Yogyakarta with 32 of eight graders as the subjects. The instrument used was curiosity response questionnaire. The data obtained was analyzed using percentage. The results showed that the average of curiosity achievement obtained was categorized as strong (75%). However, the comparison of implementations between the authentic inquiry learning and the other learning models are needed to get more comprehensive information.

Abstract

Two oligoresveratrol, namely balanocarpol (2) and ampelopsin H (3) had been isolated from the steam bark of Hopea odorata (Dipterocarpaceae). The structures of these compounds were elucidated based on physical and spectroscopic data (MS, 1H and 13C NMR 1D and 2D). The activity of these compounds was evaluated against the 2-deoxyribose degradation induced by the hydroxyl radical generated via a Fenton-type reaction. The result showed that activity each compounds as radical hydroxyl scavenger of balanocarpol, and ampelopsin H with an IC50 1802.3 and 4840.0 ?g/mL, respectively. Each compound showed low activity. Vitamin C (IC50 83.9 ?g/mL) and butylated hydroxyl toluene (1328.0 ?g/mL) were used as positif controls. These results suggest that oligoresveratrols from stem bark of H. odorata may be useful as potential sources of natural antioxidants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Science Technology Society (STS) learning in high school students of class XI IPA. This research is a quasi-experimental research using posttest only design. The sample used is 64 students from Senior High School in Bantul district, Yogyakarta. Samples were obtained using purposive random sampling. Data were collected using posttest value to determine the effect of Science Technology Society (STS) learning and using Student Worksheet to know student ability. The data were analyzed by using ANOVA. The results showed that Science Technology Society (STS) study had significant effect, with a significance value 0,043 (p<0,05). Based on these studies, it can be concluded that the learning Science Technology Society (STS) influential in students? science process skills.

Abstract

This study aims for developing students’ worksheet of entrepreneurship-oriented small-scale chemical industry, and investigating the quality of entrepreneurship-oriented small-scale chemical industry that is appropriate to be implemented in learning. This study is classified to research and development which refers to Borg & Gall development model. This research consists of four steps: which are introduction, planning, developing, and product evaluation. The product evaluation was conducted by peers, material and media experts, and chemistry teachers. The data collection instruments used validation sheet of the products. The results show that the developed products are in the form of students’ worksheet of entrepreneurship-oriented small-scale chemical industry, and the result of the assessment by chemistry teachers shows the average assessment is a good category so that this  worksheet is feasible to be used in learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengetahui pengaruh penggunaan LKPD untuk meningkatkanlifeskills.Prosedur dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu tahap pendahuluan.perencanaan, ujicoba. Subjek uji coba adalah peserta didik kelas XI SMK N 1 Panjatan, yang terdiri dari kelas kontroldan kelas eksperimen. Desain uji coba menggunakan nonequivalent control group design. Instrumenpengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi life skills.Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa penggunaan LKPD industri kecil kimia berorientasi kewirausahaan dapat meningkatkan lifeskills peserta didik.Kata Kunci: LKPD, kewirausahaan, life skills

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa. Perangkat pembelajaran berupa Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP)  dan Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS) pembelajaran. Metode penelitian ini adalah Research and Development yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu pendefinisian, perancangan dan pengembangan. Pada tahap pendefinisian dilakukan persiapan studi awal. Pada tahap perancangan dilakukan untuk menentukan indikator, tujuan pembelajaran dan analisis materi laju reaksi. Pada tahan pengembangan dilakukan pengembangan langkah-langkah kegiatan pembelajaran pada RPP dengan menggunakan pendekatan TPACK dan model discovery learning serta LKS pembelajaran yang akan diuji kelayakannya oleh dua orang dosen validator dan dua orang guru kimia Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). RPP dan LKS pembelajaran dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains yang mencakup ketiga aspek yaitu aspek konteks sains, konten sains dan proses sains. Hasil uji kelayakan menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran dikatakan memiliki kelayakan yang baik dengan rata-rata skor untuk RPP yaitu 49,75 dan untuk LKS pembelajaran yaitu 43,5. Selain itu, uji kelayakan dengan menggunakan Aiken’s V perangkat pembelajaran dikatakan memiliki validitas yang tinggi dengan rata-rata nilai Aiken’s V yaitu 0,675. Dengan demikian, perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan TPACK dengan model discovery learning dapat digunakan khususnya pada materi laju reaksi kimia.

Abstract

The objective of these research was measured activity as antioxidant some compounds in methanol extracts of peel of banana (Musa paradisiaca Linn.), isolated some compounds which had activities as antioxidant, and determined this structure. Method of this study was extracted powdered peel of banana with methanol at room temperature. Extract was concentrated in vaccuo and then successively was partitioned with n-hexane, chloroform, etyl acetate, and buthanol. Antioxidant test from each fractions was measured by hydroxyl radical scavenger test with Fenton reaction method. The result of this study showed activity each fractions as  hydroxyl radical scavenger activity of chloroform, etyl acetate, and buthanol fraction were IC50 693.15; 2347.40; and 1071.14 mg/mL respectively. The isolation of secondary metabolite compounds from chloroform fraction obtained two isolate compounds. Identification by spectroscopy IR,  MS, 1H and 13C NMR one and two dimension showed that the compounds are 5,6,7,4-tetrahidroxy-3,4-flavan-diol and a new compound cyclohexenon derivative (2-cyclohexene-1-on-2,4,4-trimethyl-3-O-2-hydroxypropyl ether).   Keywords: antioxidant, peel of banana, Musa paradisiaca, hydroxyl radical scavenger

Abstract

Isolation and structure elucidation of some compounds from stem bark of Anisoptera marginata had been done. The isolation of those compounds was carried out by chromatographyc method and structure elucidation was performed by interpretation of spectroscopic data, including UV, IR,  1H and 13C NMR 1D and 2D, and FABMS. From acetone extract stem bark A. marginata we isolated five known compounds namely bergenin (1), (-)-ε-vinipherin (2), (-)-ampelopsin A (3), vaticanol B (4), (-)-hopeaphenol (5), and a glycoside compound namely hopeaphenol-O- glycoside (6).   Keywords: Dipterocarpaceae; Anisoptera marginata; hopeaphenol-O-glucoside

Abstract

Bioactivity as antihephatotoxic directed fractionation of aceton extract from the stem bark of Hopea nigra (Dipterocarpaceae) afforded a stilbenoid trimer, namely vaticanol G (1).
