Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil proses berpikir mahasiswa dengan tipe kepribadian Sensing, yang terdiri atas Artisan dan Guardian, dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika.  Pengenalan terhadap profil berpikir mahasiswa penting diketahui oleh pengajar, karena melalui pengenalan tersebut, pengajar dapat mengembangkan model pembelajaran yang sesuai pada masing-masing tipe kepribadian sehingga proses pembelajaran dapat dicapai secara optimal. Mengenai tipe kepribadian, David Keirsey membagi menjadi tipe Sensing dan Intuisi. Pada penelitian ini, akan dibicarakan tipe Sensing, yang terbagi menjadi tipe Artisan dan Guardian. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa jurusan Sistem Informasi sebuah perguruan tinggi di Surabaya. Metode yang digunakan  adalah metode kualitatif eksploratif dimana subjek diminta untuk memecahkan masalah matematika menggunakan langkah heuristik dari Polya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profil proses berpikir mahasiswa dengan tipe Guardian lebih detail dan spesifik dalam memecahkan masalah matematika daripada tipe Artisan, yang lebih mengutamakan persoalan yang harus diselesaikan.Kata Kunci:  Pemecahan Masalah Matematika, Tipe Kepribadian, Sensing, Proses Berpikir. THINKING PROCESS PROFILE OF SENSING STUDENTS? PERSONALITY TYPE IN SOLVING MATHEMATICAL PROBLEMS ABSTRACT. The study was aimed  to understand the thinking process profile of Artisan and Guardian students in solving mathematical problem. The importance of thinking process profile,  an instructor can develop appropriate learning model for each personality type. So, the learning process can be optimized. The personality type is divided, by David Keirsey, into two types, Sensing and Intuition. In this research will be studied about Sensing type, which is divided into two, Artisan and Guardian. The subjects were students of Information Systems at a college in Surabaya. The used methods in this research is eksploratif qualitative method. This study is also using Polya for the step of mathematical problem solving, in order to get more knowledge about thinking process profile. The result shows that Guardian is more detail and more specific than Artisan ,  who is prioritize to finish the problem, in solve mathematical problems.Keywords:  Mathematic Problem Solving, Personality Type, Sensing, Thinking Process.

Abstract

Abstract: This study was aimed at producing experiment-based teaching materials of fractal geometry in order to improve students? competence. Development research model proposed by Thiagarajan, Semmel & Semmel was adopted. The subjects were mathematics students of Universitas Negeri Surabaya taking Fractal geometry course in 2015/2016 academic year. Teaching materials included lecture books and students? worksheets containing experiment activities. Experiments were conducted using open source software and measurement tools. Experiment topics comprised spirolateral construction, fractal construction with iterated function system, Fractal dimension calculation methods and their applications. The results of this study showed that the teaching materials were valid, practical and effective.PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR GEOMETRI FRAKTAL BERBASIS EKSPERIMEN UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI MAHASISWAAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar geometri fraktal yang berbasis eksperimen untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model Thiagarajan, Semmel, & Semmel. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa matematika Universitas Negeri Surabaya yang memprogram geometri fraktal. Bahan ajar yang dihasilkan adalah buku dan lembar kerja mahasiswa yang berbasis eksperimen. Kegiatan eksperimen yang dirancang berbasis data yang dijumpai di lapangan dan penggunaan teknologi multimedia yang berupa bermacam software dan penggunaan alat untuk pengukuran. Topik eksperimen yang diberikan adalah pembentukan spirolateral, pembentukan fraktal dengan menggunakan objek geometri klasik,pembentukan  fraktal dengan sistem Lindenmayer, pembentukan Fraktal dengan sistem fungsi teriterasi,penghitungan dimensi fraktal dan aplikasinya. Teknik pengumpulan data lewat angket dan pengamatan;data dianalisis secara kualitatif dan teknik statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dihasilkan memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis dan efektif.Kata Kunci: Geometri Fraktal, pembelajaran berbasis eksperimen, pengembangan bahan ajar

Abstract

This research aims to describe the process of student cognition in constructing mathematical conjecture. Many researchers have studied this process but without giving a detailed explanation of how students understand the information to construct a mathematical conjecture. The researchers focus their analysis on how to construct and prove the conjecture. This article discusses the process of student cognition in constructing mathematical conjecture from the very beginning of the process. The process is studied through qualitative research involving six students from the Mathematics Education Department in the Ganesha University of Education. The process of student cognition in constructing mathematical conjecture is grouped into five different stages. The stages consist of understanding the problem, exploring the problem, formulating conjecture, justifying conjecture, and proving conjecture. Abstract

This paper focuses on an implementation a sequence of instructional activities about addition of fractions  that has been developed and implemented in grade four of primary school in Surabaya, Indonesia. The theory of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) has been applied in  the  sequence, which aims to assist low attaining learners in supporting students’ thinking in the addition of fractions. Based on the premise that eliciting and addressing learners’ alternative conceptions in mathematics is beneficial in  assisting them to improve their understanding, the paper seeks to explore the role that RME plays pertaining to this particular supposition. The paper presents and discusses examples of learners’ responses to contextual problems given to them during the course of the instructional activities. Abstract

Missing data adalah informasi yang tidak tersedia dalam sebuah subyek atau kasus. Fenomena missing data banyak dijumpai dalam survei. Banyak hal yang menyebabkan terjadinya missing data. Sehingga terkadang beberapa pihak tertentu mengabaikan, menghapus sebagian variabel yang mengandung missing. Mengingat data sangat mahal dan berharga, maka penelitian  ini, menduga parameter yang membuat fungsi likelihood maksimum untuk data yang seluruhnya teramati dan juga diamati sebanyak n anggota sebagai sampel (dengan n<N), dengan menggunakan data teramati maka nilai harapan bersyarat data tidak teramati  juga akan maksimum. Algoritma EM adalah salah satu metode yang menangani kasus missing. Ketika algoritma EM menghasilkan nilai penduga parameter maka penduga parameter tersebut merupakan nilai tunggal yang tetap.   Kata kunci : Missing data, Maksimum likelihood, Algoritma ekspektasi maksimum (EM).

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze probabilistic thinking of elementary school students based on math ability and gender differences. Descriptive explorative approach was used to describe in depth probabilistic thinking of boys with high, middle, low math ability and girls with high, middle, low math ability. The result showed that probabilistic thinking of boy with high math ability indicated multistructural because his thinking quantitative and proportional. While probabilistic thinking of boys with middle, low math ability and girls with high, middle, low math ability indicated unistructural because their thinking quantitative and non proportional. Beside that, boys’ thinking in solving probability tasks was more analytical and flexible than girls’ thinking. So, students with math ability difference, gave difference response in solving probability tasks. This result found new strategy in solving probability comparison task. This result could contribute to curriculum developer to introduce probability in elementary school level and teachers could use discussion method in teaching probability material.

Abstract

Buleleng regency in North Bali has many areas that could potentially be developed into tourist destination areas, one of them being Lake Buyan Forest Area which is very potential to be a trekking tour as an alternative form of tourist attraction offering new experiences to tourists. The study was aimed at determining the potential of the forest area as a place for trekking activities, community participation and tourists in the development of the area, and to identify the effective strategies in its development. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, structured interviews with tourists who were conducting trekking activities and in-depth interview with the related people andthe tourists visiting Lake Buyan. The research method used wasdescriptive-qualitative and SWOT analyses. The study results showed that the physical and non-physical potential owned by forest area of Buyan Lake could be developed into a tourist trekking area, which was also supported by the SWOT analysis. In the process its development, the participation of the related people was an important factor.

Abstract

Pemahaman terhadap data adalah penting bagi semua lapisan masyarakat, termasuk siswa. Siswa harus memiliki kemampuan dalam memahami data agar mereka mampu bereaksi secara cerdas terhadap informasi kuantitatif di sekitar mereka.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bagaimana siswa SMA dalam membaca, menafsirkan dan membuat simpulan dari suatu data. Untuk memperoleh gambaran tersebut, peneliti menetapkan satu siswa perempuan yang mempunyai tingkat kemampuan matematika tinggi sebagai subjek penelitian. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui wawancara berbasis tugas yang divalidasi melalui triangulasi waktu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek perempuan yang berkemampuan matematika tinggi dalam membaca data memulai dengan memperhatikan judul grafik/diagram dan keterangan pada setiap sumbu yang diberikan, subjek menggali informasi langsung dari apa yang tertulis secara eksplisit berdasarkan grafik yang ada, memaknai dan menjelaskan titik-titik dalam grafik sebagai hubungan sumbu x terhadap sumbu y. Dalam menafsirkan dan menyimpulkan data, subjek memperhatikan pola umum dari fluktuasi data dan menggunakan tren data umum untuk memprediksi kemungkinan data yang akan datang dan menentukan nilai kenaikan atau penurunan data berdasarkan nilai rata-ratanya

Abstract

This study has aims to describe the profile of junior high school students’ Thinking in Solving math problems. The subjects of this research are three students of high, medium and low in mathematical ability. Thinking profile of students described as follows: Understanding the problem, students received information by reading problems, then they recalled, processed, and stored information. Devising a plan, students processed, stored, and recalled information. Carrying out the plan, students recalled, processed, and stored information. Looking back, students stored information by performing a repletion of steps looking back.
