Abstract

A polyisoprenylated benzophenone, isosantosimol had been isolated from the stem bark of Garcinia griffithii T. Anders. The structure of these compound was determined on the basis of spectroscopic data including UV, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HMQC, HMBC and COSY, as well as by direct comparison with those of reported data. The antioxidant activity of this compound was observed using radical scavenging 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) model systems.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan uji aktivitas antioksidan dari tiga senyawa fenol 1,5-dihidroksi-3,6-dimetoksi-2,7-di-(3-metilbut-2-enil)santon (1), (-)-epikatekin (2), dan isosantosimol (3) dari kulit batang manggis hutan (G. bancana). Uji aktivitas dilakukan dengan metode santin oksidase (XO) berdasarkan jumlah asam urat yang terbentuk. Hasil pengukuran meunjukkan nilai IC50 untuk ketiga senyawa berturut-turut 9,7; > 200; dan 8,6 μg/mL. Berdasarkan nilai IC50 ini disimpulkan bahwa isosantosimol (3) dan (-)-epikatekin (2) bersifat aktif antioksidan sedangkan 1,5-dihidroksi-3,6- dimetoksi-2,7-di-(3-metilbut-2-enil)santon bersifat tidak aktif.
