Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce a teaching material for three dimensional spaces using inquiry based approach. This research is a developmental research consists of three steps: preliminary, formative study (self evaluation, expert review, one to one and small group) and a field test. The subjects were eighth grade student of SMPN 45 Palembang. Experts review suggest that this study has produced a valid and practical teaching material for three dimensional apaces. The results of the field test alsoshow that the material has a potential effect to improve students critical thinking skills. Keywords: Inquiry based approach, three dimensional spaces, worksheet.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to develop teaching material for algebra operations for grade of junior high school using the approach of Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education and determine its potential effects on learning outcomes. This study uses the type of formative research methods development research. Step by step studies include preliminary stages (preparation and designing) and the formative stages of evaluation (self-evaluation, revision, one to one, experts review, revision, small group, revision, and field test, revision). Data was collected by walk through, documentation, and test competencies. The result validates the expert views that teaching material of algebra operations for seventh grade of junior high school is an valid and practical that can be used in fields trials. The trials of teaching materials were conducted in junior high school 6 of Sekayu, Musi Banyuasin at 7.1 by 30 students. Competency test result show that 77% of students achieved minimum qualifications in which 47% with excellent qualifications, 40% good qualified, 6,7% sufficient qualification, and 6,7% lesws qualifications. The results of students answer analysis show that students are able to understand the problem, determine the variables in a problem, and expressed in algebraic form. However, students are not careful when completing subtraction algebraic expression using parentheses. Keywords: algebra expression, PMRI, teaching materials.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemajuan belajar siswa pada materi geometri transformasi yang didukung dengan serangkaian aktivitas belajar berdasarkan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia. Penelitian didesain melalui tiga tahap, yaitu tahapan perancangan desain awal, pengujian desain melalui pembelajaran awal dan pembelajaran eksperimental, dan tahap analisis retrospektif. Dalam penelitian ini, Hypothetical Learning Trajectory, HLT (HLT) berperan penting sebagai desain pembelajaran sekaligus instrumen penelitian. HLT diujikan terhadap 26 siswa kelas VII. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik wawancara, pengamatan, dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain pembelajaran ini mampu menstimulasi siswa untuk memberikan karakteristik refleksi dan transformasi geometri lainnya secara informal, mengklasifikasikannya dalam transformasi isometri pada level kedua, dan menemukan garis bantuan refleksi pada level yang lebih formal. Selain itu, garis bantuan refleksi digunakan oleh siswa untuk menggambar bayangan refleksi dan pola pencerminan serta memahami bentuk rotasi dan translasi sebagai kombinasi refleksi adalah level tertinggi. LEARNING PROGRESS ON TRANSFORMATION GEOMETRY USING THE GEOMETRY REFLECTION ACTIVITIES Abstract: This study was aimed at describing the students? learning progress on transformation geometry supported by a set of learning activities based on Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education. The study was designed into three stages, that is, the preliminary design stage, the design testing through initial instruction and experiment, and the restrospective analysis stage. In this study, Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) played an important role as an instructional design and a research instrument. HLT was tested to 26 seventh grade students. The data were collected through interviews, observations, and field notes. The findings of the study showed that this instructional design could stimulate students to provide reflection characteristics and other transformation geometry informally, to classify them in the transformation isometry in the second level, and to find the reflection supporting line in the more formal level. In addition, the reflection supporting line was used by the students to draw the reflection image and the mirroring pattern and to understand the rotation and translation shapes as a combination of reflection at the highest level. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan soal matematika model PISA untuk siswa SMP menggunakan konteks Jambi yang valid, praktis, dan memiliki efek potensial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Design research tipe development study. Analisis data adalah analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian berupa seperangkat soal matematika model PISA menggunakan konteks Jambi yang valid, praktis dan memlilki efek potensial sebanyak 14 butir soal. Valid dari segi konten, konstruk, dan bahasa berdasarkan penilaian validator, praktis berdasarkan uji coba small group dan memiliki efek potensial berdasarkan analisis hasil jawaban siswa dan angket pada field test. Bedasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh bahwa soal yang dikembangkan memiliki beberapa efek potensial, yaitu memunculkan pelibatan kemampuan dasar matematis yang beragam pada proses penyelesaiannya. Selain itu, juga mampu menarik minat dan memotivasi siswa sehingga tertantang menyelesaikan soal. Soal-soal ini juga memberikan stimulus kepada siswa untuk berpikir kritis menggunakan penalaran sendiri dalam penyelesaiannya.Kata kunci: research and development, development study, PISA, Konteks Jambi DEVELOPING MATHEMATIC QUESTIONS OF PISA MODEL BY USING JAMVI CONTEXT AbstractThe aim of this research was to provide valid, practical mathematic questions of PISA model for SMP students by using Jambi contex, and have potential effect. The method of the research was developmental research design . Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. The result of the research was a set of valid, practical 14 mathematic questions of PISA model in Jambi contex, and having potential effect. The validity of content, construct, and language was based on expert judgment, the practicality was measured in small group, and the potential effect was based on analysis of student answers and questionnaires in field test. The result of analysis showed that the developed questions had several potential effects such as inviting students? various basic skills of mathematic in the process of answering the questions. Besides that, it could encourage students? ability and motivate students to answer and finish the questions. These questions also attract the students to use their critical thinking ability to answer the questions.Keywords: research and development, development study, PISA, Jambi context

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan pemahaman konsep siswa tentang operasi penjumlahan pecahan dengan model fraction circle melalui pembelajaran PMRI dan (2) mendeskripsikan lintasan belajar siswa dalam mempelajari konsep operasi penjumlahan pecahan menggunakan model fraction circle. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 4 SD N 146 Palembang. Metode penelitian ini adalah design research melalui tahap-tahap: preparing for the experiment, teaching experiment, dan retrospective analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) model fraction circle membantu siswa memahami konsep operasi penjumlahan pecahan melalui pembelajaran PMRI. (2) Lintasan belajar yang digunakan siswa adalah menggunakan tahap informal ke tahap formal. Pada tahap informal, siswa menggunakan konteks kue manipulatif yang dipartisi menjadi beberapa bagian sama besar sehingga membentuk model fraction circle. Selanjutnya, siswa menyelesaikan masalah dengan menggunakan fraction circle sebagai model of menuju model for, yaitu membuat gambar fraction circle. Di tahap formal, siswa menyelesaikan operasi penjumlahan pecahan tanpa menggunakan model fraction circle.Kata kunci: pecahan, fraction circle, design research, PMRI

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan Lembar Aktivitas Mahasiswa topik Turunan berdasarkan teori APOS yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan memiliki efek potensial terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode design research tipe development study. Tahap development (pengembangan), yaitu preliminary dan formative evaluation (self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group, dan field test). Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Kelas 1C Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Universitas PGRI Palembang semester ganjil tahun akademik 2014/2015 sebanyak 38 orang. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui walkthrough (expert reviews), dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diketahui bahwa Lembar Aktivitas Mahasiswa yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan memiliki efek potensial terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika.Kata kunci: turunan, teori APOS, development study

Abstract

By modeling learning students enjoy learning and doing mathematics in new ways. This study aimed firsly to produce senior high school mathematics modeling tasks, lesson plan, and student worksheet for valid mathematical learning; secondly, to produce senior high school mathematics modeling, lesson plan, and student worksheet for practical mathematics learning; lastly, to produce senior high school mathematics modeling tasks, lesson plan, and student worksheet for potentially effective mathematics learning. This study used method of development research that consisting of 3 steps, i.e., analysis, design, and evaluation. In the analysis stage, researcher did student analysis, curriculum, and mathematical modeling. Second stage are to design and product. Finally, researchers applied a design of formative evaluation consists of self-evaluation, one-to-one, experts review, small group, and field test. Based on experts review, one-to-one, small groups, and field test were obtained valid, practical, and potentially effective, i.e. mathematical modeling tasks, lesson plan, student worksheet to teach mathematical modeling in senior high school and Mathematical modeling tasks and student worksheets to learn mathematical modeling in senior high school.

Abstract

The intention of the present study is to know how the pupils can learn to make a group of ten to understand the idea of unitizing. The pupils were given a contextual problem “Counting the Beads” in order to promote their understanding about the idea of unitizing. The process of designing the problem was based on the 5 tenets of Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME). The methods of this study was a design research. The researcher designed the Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) before conducting the lesson in the classroom. The result of this study showed that the pupils learned to make a group of any number then moved to make a group of twenty before using the group of ten as a strategy in finding the amount of the beads. The pupils set a  structure  of objects with a help of grouping to ten strategy to understand the idea of unitizing.   Keywords: Grouping to ten, IRME, unitizing

Abstract

Indonesias involvement  in the Programme  for  International  Student Assessment  (PISA)  is one attempt  to  see how far the development of educational programs in our country compared to other countries in the world. PISA results show that Indonesia is still at the lower level. Thismeans  that the ability of  Indonesian  students  in solving problems  that require  the ability  to review,  giving  reasons  and communicating effectively,  and  solve and  interpret  problems in various  situations  is still lacking. This may be due to government policy  in the presence of the National Examination  (UN)  in which  the spread  of  the  UN’s questions are still at the lower levels of cognitive aspects that are not in line with government regulations on  curriculum  which suggests  that the fulfillment of cognitive aspects as one of the  important aspects of education.  To that end,  researcher  conducted a study  that aims  to produce  valid and practical  the sixth level of PISA-like mathematics problems  for middle school students.  This study  is the  development research  formative  evaluation  type.  The research subjects  are ninth grade  students SMP Negeri 1 Palembang. Data collection techniques used are walk  through, documentation,  interviews, and  tests. From the analysis  it can be concluded  that this research  has resulted  a  product the sixth level of PISA-like mathematics problems.  At the stage of expert  review,  an  expert  and  two  colleagues  evaluated  the problems from different aspects. Trying out at one-to-one and  small group wasperformed on  students with  different mathematical  abilities.  Then at the field test stage, 26 students in one class answered the questions that were developed.Keywords: development research, PISA questions, development the  sixth level of PISA-like mathematics problems

Abstract

Several researches showed that students had difficulty in understanding the concept of Least Common Multiple (LCM) in Elementary School. This  underlies  the researcher to  design a  learning of LCM  using storytelling,  Legend Putri Dayang Merindu  (LPDM), which contains situational problem related to LCM. The purposes of this study are  to know  the role  of  LPDM  in  supporting  students  ability to understand LCM concept and  to generate a student  learning  trajectory in  learning of LCM  using LPDM.  This research  uses methodology of design research consists  of three steps (i.e.  preliminary design, teaching experiment  and  retrospective analysis),  and the learning approach of realistic mathematic education, labeled by  PMRI  in Indonesia.  From the research result conducted in MIN 1 Palembang can be concluded that the learning of LCM using LPDM has role in supporting students’ ability to understand LCM concept. Therefore, student learning trajectory to understanding LCM concept is started from solving of situational problems based on LPDM until formal solution of LCM. In this case, there are three stages that students through (i.e. understanding concept of multiple, common multiple and LCM) using various strategies in the level situational, model of, model for and formal.  Keyword: Least Common Multiple (LCM), Design Research, PMRI, Storytelling, Legenda Putri Dayang Merindu.
