Abstract

Almost every dry season, there are large forest/land fires in several regions in Indonesia, especially in Kalimantan and Sumatra in the dry season of August to September 2015 a forest fire in 6 provinces namely West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Riau, Jambi, and South Sumatra. Even some parties proposed that the Government of Indonesia declares them as a national disaster. The low-resolution remote sensing data have been widely used for monitoring the occurrence of forest/land fires (hotspots), and mapping of  burnt scars. The hotspot detection was done by utilizing the data of NOAA-AVHRR and MODIS data which have a lower spatial resolution (1 km). In order to increase the level of detail and accuracy of product information, this research is done by using Landsat 8 TIRS (Thermal Infrared Sensor) band which has a greater spatial resolution of 100 m. The purpose of this research is to find and to determine the threshold value of the brightness temperature of the TIRS data to identify the source of fire smoke. The data used is the Landsat 8 of several parts of Borneo during the period of 24 August to 18 September 2015 recorded by the LAPAN's receiving station. Landsat - 8 TIRS band was converted into brightness temperature in degrees Celsius, then dots in a region that is considered the source of the smoke if the temperature of each pixel in the region > 43oC, and given the attributes with the highest temperatures of the pixels in the region. The source of the smoke was obtained through visual interpretation of the objects in the multispectral Natural Color Composite (NCC) and True Color Composite (TCC) images. Analysis of errors (commission error) is obtained by comparing the temperature detected by TIRS band with a visual appearance of the source of the smoke. The result of the experiment showed that there were detected 9 scenes with high temperatures over 43oC from the 27 scenes Kalimantan Landsat 8 data, which include 153 sites. The accuracy (commission error) of identification results using temperature ≥ 51°C is 0%, temperature ≥ 47°C is 10%, and temperature ≥ 43°C is 30.5%.

Abstract

This research analyzed the radiometric correction method using SPOT-4 imageries to produce the same reflectance for the same land cover. Top of Atmosphere (TOA) method was applied in previous radiometric correction approach, this TOA approach was upgraded with the reflectance effect from difference satellite viewing angle. The 250 scene of Central Kalimantan SPOT-4 imageries from 2006 until 2012 with varies viewing angle was used. This research applied two-step approaches, the first step is TOA correction, and the second step is normalization using a linear function of reflectance and satellite viewing angle. Gain and offset coefficient of this linear function was calculated using an iterative approach to producing the same reflectance in the forest area. The target of iterative processed is to minimize the standard deviation of a digital number from a forest area in the selected region. The result shows that the standard deviation of a digital number from a forest area in the two steps approach are 8.6, 16.5, and 16.8 for band 1, band 3 and band 4. These values are smaller compared with the standard deviation of digital number result from TOA approach are 15.0, 28,3 and 34.7 for band 1, band 3 and band 4.  Decreasing the standard deviation shows the homogeneity of forest reflectance that could be seen in the seamless result. This algorithm can be applied for making seamless SPOT-4 mosaic whole of Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper shows a study on an alternative method for unsupervised classification of polarimetric-Syenthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. The first step was to extract several main physical polarimetric parameters (polarization power, coherence, and phase difference) from polarimetric covariance matrix (or coherency matrix) and physical scattering characteristics of land use/cover based on polarimetric decomposition (Cloude decomposition model). In this paper, we found that these features have complementary information which can be integrated in order to improve the discrimination of different land use or cover types. Classification stage was performed using Fuzzy Maximum Likelihood Estimation (FMLE) clustering algorithm. FMLE algorithm allows for ellipsoidal clusters of arbitrary extent and is consequently more flexible than standard Fuzzy K-Means clustering algorithm. Hoever, basic FMLE algorithm makes use exclusively the spectral (or intensity) properties of the individual pixel vectors and spatial-contextual information of the image was not taken into account. Hence, poor(noisy) classification result is ussualy obtained from SAR data due to speckle noise. In this paper, we propose a modified FMLE which integrate basic FMLE clustering with spatial-contextual information by statistical analysis of local neightbourhoods. The effectiveness of the proposed method was demonstrated using E-SAR polarimetric data acquired on the area of Penajam, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Result showed classified images improving land-cover discrimination performance. Exhibiting homogeneous region, and preserving edge and other fine structures. Abstract

The aim of the research was to evaluate the effect of feeding fermented yellow corn with polyunsaturated fatty acid and L-Karnitin supplementation on the hatchability of quail (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) egg. A number of 160 female and 40 male quails of 70 days old were used as experimental animal. The present research was designed in oneway Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replication, each replication contains of eight female and two males quails. The dietary treatments were P0= basal diet, P1= P0 with 100% substitution at yellow corn by fermented yellow corn, P2= P1 + 10 ppm L-karnitin, P3= P2 + 4% tuna fish oil, P4= P2 + 4% lemuru fish oil. Suplementation of fish oil as polyunsaturated fatty acid source and L-karnitin in fermented yellow corn diet didn?t affect eggs fertility, hatchability, and hatching quality, however, it significantly (P<0.01) affected hatching weight. The best result achieved in treatment P1 because it content yellow corn fermentation which increased the weight of hatching. It can be concluded that feeding fermented yellow corn with supplementation of polyunsaturated fatty acid source and L-karnitin quail eggs, increase DOQ hatching weight of quail eggs.(Key words: Fermented yellow corn, Hatchability, L-karnitin, Polyunsaturated fatty acid, Quail)

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the advantage of tumeric flour (Curcuma domestica Val) and ginger flour (Zingiber officinale) addition on quality of culled duck meatball in different storage times. The materials were thigh duck, tumeric flour and ginger flour. The design used in experiment was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with factorial pattern 4x3 as the first factor was concentration of turmeric flour (0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5%) and ginger flour (0; 1; 2; 3%) and the second one was storage time (0; 8; 16 hours). The result of the research showed that storage time affected (P<0.05) pH, tenderness and waterholding capacity. Concentration of tumeric flour and ginger flour affected tenderness.There was no interaction between those two factors on pH, water-holding capacity, tenderness,and total proteolitic bacteria. Concentration of turmeric flour 0,5% and ginger flour 1% with storage time during 0 hours gave the best result, with a pH value 6.49, tenderness 0.31, water-holding capacity 22.27, and a total proteolytic bacteria , 3.57x104. In conclusion, the finest result founded at 0.5% of turmeric flour and 1% of ginger flouraddition in meatball before storage.(Keywords: Culled duck, Ginger flour, Meatball, Storage time, Tumeric flour)

Abstract

The objective of this research was to see the influence of betaine supplementation on some of blood lipid and protein parameters in laying quails. The research used four treatments based on completely randomized design. Each treatment was replicated five times with seventeen quails each.The treatments used 340 quails aged 4 weeks with average weigh 98.31±8.67 grams. The supplementation levels of betaine were 0 (control); 0.07; 0.14 and 0.21%. Twenty quails aged 14 weeks were taken from each replicate to determine blood lipid and protein. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and if there was an effect of treatment, then it was analyzed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The result showed that betaine supplementation at level 0.14% resulted higher level of low density lipoprotein compared with the other treatments. It could be concluded that betaine supplementation at 0.14% resulted higher concentration of low density lipoprotein than control.Key words: quail, betaine, blood lipid, blood protein

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan tepung Azolla microphylla dalam ransum terhadap performan itik manila dan mengetahui tingkat pemberian tepung azolla yang paling optimal. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kandang unggas ex-farm Jatikuwung Jurusan Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian UNS mulai 22 Juni 2007 sampai 25 Agustus 2007. Penelitian menggunakan 100 ekor itik manila betina yang ditempatkan dalam kandang litter secara acak. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola searah dengan empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan.            Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah: Ransum + 0% tepung azolla (P0); Ransum + 5% tepung azolla (P1); Ransum + 10% tepung azolla (P2); Ransum + 15% tepung azolla (P3). Peubah yang diamati adalah konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, konversi pakan dan efisiensi pakan.            Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemberian tepung azolla ke dalam pakan memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata terhadap pertambahan bobot badan, serta tidak berpengaruh terhadap konsumsi, konversi dan efisiensi pakan. Ransum dengan 10% tepung azolla (P2) menghasilkan pertambahan bobot badan terbaik (23,75 gram/ekor/hari) yang berbeda sangat nyata dari P0 (21,07 gram/ekor/hari). Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ransum + 10% tepung azolla (P2)  memberikan hasil yang terbaik. Kata kunci: tepung Azolla microphylla, performan, itik manila

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan ampas kecap yang direndam dalam larutan asam asetat dalam pakan terhadap pertambahan bobot badan harian (PBBH), konversi pakan, rasio efisiensi protein (REP), bobot potong, dan bobot karkas itik lokal jantan umur delapan minggu. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni?Agustus 2013. Pakan yang digunakan mengandung energi termetabolis 2800 kcal/kg dan protein kasar 18%. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola searah dengan 4 perlakuan pakan, 5 ulangan, dan 5 ekor itik per perlakuan. Pakan perlakuan meliputi: pakan basal tanpa suplementasi ampas kecap (pakan kontrol), pakan basal dengan suplementasi ampas kecap 5%, pakan basal dengan suplementasi ampas kecap 10%, dan pakan basal dengan suplementasi ampas kecap 15%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ampas kecap dalam pakan hingga 15% tidak berpengaruh terhadap PBBH, konversi pakan, rasio efisiensi protein, bobot potong, dan bobot karkas itik jantan umur 8 minggu. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan ampas kecap dalam pakan sampai level 15% belum mampu meningkatkan performa dan produksi karkas itik lokal jantan.(Kata kunci: Ampas kecap, Itik lokal, Performa pertumbuhan)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of restricted feeding rate on the broiler chickens performance. The research was carried out in Tompe, Jirapan Village, Masaran Sub District, Sragen Distric for six weeks beginning from September 14th until October 26th, 2011. This study used 100 male broiler chickens New Lohmann strain. The research design used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) one way trafic with four treatments. The fourth treatments are: P0 (full  feeding without fasting), P1 (6 days full feeding and 1 day fasting), P2 (5 days full feeding and 1 day fasting) and P3 (4 days full feeding and 1 day fasting). Each treatment consisted of five replicates. Feed consisted of BR1 and BR2. The Parameters observedare Body Weights Gain, Feed Consumption, Feed Conversion,and Income Over Feed Cost. The results showed that the average of four treatment are P0, P1, P2 and P3 respectively for body weight gain are 81.37; 74.47; 72.65, and 72.50 grams / head / day, feed intake are 137.94; 126.46; 124.06; and 119.11 g / head / day, feed conversion are 1.70; 1.70; 1.71, and 1.64, feed efficiency are 0.59; 0, 59; 0.59, and 0,61. The average of Income Over Feed Cost are Rp. 8.757,26; Rp. 8.014,98;Rp. 7.818,14; and Rp. 7.808,57. The analysis of variance results for body weight gain and whole consumption has significant effect (P&lt;0.01), conversionwas not affected. From these results it can be concluded that the rate of feeding restricteds is significantly affect on body weight gain and feed consumption of Broiler Males.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain statins producer bacteria as a HMG-CoA reductase (HMGR) enzyme inhibitor to reduced cholesterol biosynthesis. Stages of this research were the isolation of compactin and lovastatin resistant bacteria, statin production, analysis of culture extracts to inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase and identification of bacteria. The results showed that the 20 isolates of compactin and lovastatin resistant bacteria, there are 5 bacterial isolates produced statins. They were L3.3.4; C3.4.2; C3.3.5; C3.4.4 and L3.3.3; with the statins content were 9.491; 1.536; 0.065; 0.060; and 0.040 ppm. Selection of the 5 bacterial isolates resulted 2 bacteria which had inhibition ability to HMGR enzyme activity. They were Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus delbruckii sp. delbruckii with inhibitory ability were 66.67% and 58.33%, respectively.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh bakteri penghasil statin sebagai inhibitor enzim HMG-KoA reduktase (HMGR), penghambat sintesis kolesterol. Tahapan penelitian yang dilakukan adalah isolasi bakteri yang resisten terhadap compactin dan lovastatin, produksi statin, uji penghambatan ekstrak dari kultur bakteri terhadap HMG-KoA reduktase dan identifikasi bakteri. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari 20 isolat bakteri yang resisten terhadap compactin maupun lovastatin, terdapat 5 isolat bakteri yang potensial menghasilkan statin, yaitu isolat L3.3.4; C3.4.2; C3.3.5; C3.4.4 dan L3.3.3; dengan kandungan statin berturut-turut adalah 9.491; 1,536; 0,065, 0,060, dan 0,040 ppm. Seleksi terhadap 5 isolat menghasilkan 2 bakteri yang mempunyai kemampuan penghambatan terhadap aktivitas enzim ¸Â•ÝWtu Lactobacillus acidophilus dan Lactobacillus delbruckii sp. delbruckii dengan kemampuan penghambatan  berturut-turut adalah 66,67% dan 58,33%.
