Abstract

Abstract: Using 5E learning cycle-based laboratory activity in improving students? problem solving skills on mixture separation topic. Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe the effectivity of laboratory activity on mixture separation topic based on 5E Learning Cycle to improve students? problem solving skills. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out in the SMPN 33 Bandar Lampung by using the matching only pretest-posttest control group design. The 7th-D and the 7th-E grade were used as experimental and control classes, respectively, which they were obtained by using purposive sampling technique. Findings: The effectivity of 5E Learning Cycle-based laboratory activity measured based on the n-gainand the effect size values. The n-gain value of experimental and control classes were in medium (0.52) and low (0.29) categorized, respectively.  The effect size value was in large categorized (0.67). Conclusion: These results indicated that5E  Learning Cycle-based laboratory activity could be effective toimprovestudents? problem solving skills to separate of mixture.Keywords: Problem solving skills, laboratory activity, 5E Learning Cycle. Abstrak: Menggunakan aktivitas laboratorium berbasis siklus belajar 5E dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa pada topik pemisahan campuran. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas aktivitas laboratorium berbasis Learning Cycle 5E pada materi Pemisahan Campuran dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen yang telah dilaksanakan di SMPN 33 Bandar Lampung dengan menggunakan desain the matching only pretest-posttest control group.Dengan teknik purposive sampling diperoleh kelas 7D dan 7E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Temuan: Efektivitas aktivitas laboratorium berbasis Learning Cycle 5E diukur berdasarkan nilai n-gain dan ukuran dampak.Nilai n-gain di kelas eksperimen berkategori sedang (0,52) dan di kelas kontrol berkategori rendah (0,29). Nilai ukuran dampak berada dalam kategori besar(0,67). Kesimpulan: Hasil tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa aktivitas laboratorium berbasis Learning Cycle 5E efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa dalam pemisahan campuran.Kata kunci: Keterampilan pemecahan masalah, aktivitas aboratorium, Learning Cycle 5E.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v9.i2.201922

Abstract

This study was aimed to describe the effectiveness of problem-based learning of detergent waste-pollution improving students? higher order thinking skills. The method used was quasi experimental by using the matching only pretest and postest control group design. The population of this research was all of students in grade XI MIA one of Senior High School in Bandarlampung and it was obtained class XI MIA1 as experiment class and XI MIA2 as control class. The data analysis technique used was parametric statistic test using t-test. The results showed that posttest score of student?s higher order thinking skills in experiment class was higher than control class and mean of n-gain?s category in experiment class was in medium category, which mean that problem-based learning of detergent waste-pollution was effective to improve students' higher order thinking skills.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran oleh limbah detergen dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain the matching only pretest and postest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI MIA salah satu SMA di Bandarlampung dan diperoleh kelas XI MIA1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI MIA2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji statistik parametrik menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai postes keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa di kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol dan rata-rata n-gain yang berkategori sedang di kelas eksperimen, yang berarti pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran limbah detergen efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pencemaran oleh limbah detergen, keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa

Abstract

The aim of this research was to describe the effectiveness of predict-observe-explain (POE) learning model in thermochemical of inferencetion skill and mastery concept.  Students who became the subject of this research was grade XI IPA1 SMA Gajah Mada in Bandar Lampung Academic Year 2012/2013.  This research used the preexperimental method and one group pretest-posttest design.  The effectiveness of POE learning model was determined based on the average of normalization gain (n-gain).  The results of this research showed that the average of n-gain of inferencetion skill and mastery concept was 0.59 and 0.67.  Thus, it can be concluded that the POE learning model in thermochemical effective to enhance skill inference and concept mastery in medium category.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) pada materi termokimia dalam meningkatan keterampilan inferensi dan penguasaan konsep.  Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Gajah Mada Bandar Lampung Tahun Pelajaran 2012-2013.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Pre-Eksperimen dan desain One-Group pretest posttest.  Efektivitas model pembelajaran POE diukur berdasarkan nilai normalisasi gain (n-gain).  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata n-gain keterampilan inferensi dan penguasaan konsep masing-masing 0,59 dan 0,67.  Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran POE pada materi termokimia efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan inferensi dengan kriteria sedang dan penguasaan konsep dengan kriteria sedang.Kata Kunci:  keterampilan inferensi, penguasaan konsep, pembelajaran poe.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the effectiveness of the learning model of guided inquiry to improve prediction and to formulate hypotheses skills in acid-base concept. This research uses a pre-experimental method with One Group Pretest Posttest Design.  Subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar which amounts to 29 students. The data of this study is the prediction and to formulate hypotheses skills. The results showed the average value of n-Gain of prediction skills and formulate hypotheses 0,49 and 0.56 (medium category).  Based on the results of the data analysis, showed that the guided inquiry learning model is effective in improving the prediction skills and to formulate hypotheses of class XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar LampungPenelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dalam meningkatkan keterampilan prediksi dan merumuskan hipotesis pada materi asam-basa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan One Group Pretest Postest Design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandarlampung yang berjumlah 29 siswa. Data penelitian ini adalah keterampilan prediksi dan merumuskan hipotesis.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata nilai n-Gain keterampilan prediksi dan keterampilan merumuskan hipotesis yaitu 0,49 dan 0,56 (kategori sedang).  Berdasarkan hasil analisis data tersebut, menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model inkuiri terbimbing efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan prediksi dan merumuskan hipotesis siswa kelas XI IPA1 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar LampungKata kunci:  keterampilan prediksi, merumuskan hipotesis, pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing.

Abstract

 Chemistry?s phenomena can explained by multiple representation, they are macroscopis, symbolis, and submicroscopis dimention. Based on the fact, submicroscopis dimention is often diserted, especially when teach acid-base material because it is difficult to learn.  According to this case, teachers need the media for delivering material of chemistry. The research aim is resulting animation media of Arrhenius acid-base material based on multiple representation.This research used research and development (R D) method by Gall, Gall and Borg in Putra (2012). But on this research, step only arrive to step of main product revision. Research and development on this research have three steps. They are needs analysis step, consist of literature study and field study, planning and developing product step, consist of planning product, developing product,validation, and revision product, and the last is field test step, whose test of the product then revision the product based on result of test.Result of this research was animation media of Arrhenius acid-base material based on multiple representation which have characteristics: 1) displaying science material of Arrhenius acid-base which be explained by multiple representation, 2) it has parts consist of opening, instructional, competence standard, basic competence, indicators of product cognitive, subject of acid-base solution, subject of indicators acid-base, subject of Arrhenius acid-base, subject of pH, and profile button, 3) the contents suitability aspect has high score that is 80% according to validator judgement and 80% according to teacher judgement, and also have the highest level in isteresting aspect that is 83.45% according students judgement.Key words :  animation media, multiple representation, Arrhenius acid-base

Abstract

The aimed of research was to describe the increase of students? skill in identify variables and describe the correlational between  variables on Learning Cycle 3E (LC 3E) model. Quasi-Experimental method was used in this research, with Non Equivalent (Pretest-Postest) Control Group Design. The population of this research was students of XI IPA SMA N 1 Way Jepara, Lampung Timur, with XI scince 2 and XI scince 3 class as sample. The increase of students? skill in identify variables and describe the correlational between  variables measured with the difference of a significant normalized gain (n-Gain). The results show that mean value of n-Gain identify variables skill in control and experimental classes were 0.19 and 0.34, and the mean value of n-Gain describe the correlational between variables skill in control and experimental classes were 0.07 and 0,32. Based on data analysis which used t-test and n-Gain, it was concluded that the LC 3E learning model can increasing students? skill in identify variables and describe the correlational between  variables. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan mengidentifikasi variabel dan mendes­kripsikan hubungan antar variabel melalui learning cycle 3 phase (LC 3E). Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalent (Pretest-Postest) Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Way Jepara, Lampung Timur, dengan kelas XI IPA 2 dan XI IPA 3 sebagai sampel. Peningkatan keterampilan mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan hubungan antar variabel diukur dengan perbedaan gain yang ternormalisai (n-Gain) yang signifikan. Hasil penelitian menunjuk­kan rerata n-Gain  keterampilan mengidentifikasi variabel kelas kontrol dan eksperi­men masing-masing 0,19 dan 0,34; dan rerata n-Gain keterampilan mendes­kripsi­kan hubungan antar variabel untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,07 dan 0,32.  Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t dan n-Gain, disimpulkan bahwa model learning cycle 3E dapat mening­katkan keteram­pilan mengidentifikasi variabel dan mendeskripsikan hubungan antar variabel siswa.Kata kunci: keterampilan mendeskripsikan hubungan antar variabel, keterampilan mengidentifikasi variabel, Learning Cycle 3E.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the learning model of SSCS that effective to improve the students? ability in answering question, consider the definition and define the problem.  This research used quasi experiment method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design .  The Samples of this research were the second year students of MAN 1 Bandar Lampung in the even of academic year 2011-2012.  The research used two classes, XI IPA2 and X IPA3 which had the same characteristic.   The effectiveness of SSCS the learning model was measured by differences of significant n-gain.  The results of this research showed that the mean value of n-gain for students? ability in answering question in control and experiment class were 0,19 and 0,54; the mean value of n-gain for students?  ability in consider the definition in control and experiment class were 0,30 and 0,32; and the mean value of  n-gain for students? ability in define the problem in control and experiment class were -0,17 and 0,15.  Based on hypotesis test, it can be seen that the SSCS learning model is effective to improve the student? ability in answering question and define the problem and ineffective to improve consider the definition.  Ineffective SSCS learning model in improving consider the definition skills because the teacher isn?t giving practice maximally these skills in the learning process. Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe effectiveness of problem solving learning model in solubility and solubility product concept to enhance expressing causal claim and negation skills. Students who became the subject of this research was  XI grade of Science 1 Batanghari Senior High School in Batanghari academic year 2011/2012. This research used the pre-experimental method and one group pretest-posttest design.  The effectiveness of problem solving learning model was determined based on the average value of n-Gain.  The results of this research showed that the average value of n-Gain of expressing causal claim and negation skills were 0,398 and 0,704. Thus, it can be concluded that the problem solvinglearning model in solubility and solubility product concept effective to enhance  expressing causal claim in medium category and effective to enhance  expressing negation skill in high category.Keywords: problem solving, expressing causal claim skill and expressing    negation skill.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the Problem Solving learning model that are effective in improving the classification skills and comunication skills on electrolyte and non-electrolyte and reduction oxidation react material. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. This research use a quasi-experimental methods with Non Equivalent (Pretest and Posttest) Control Group Design. The sample in this research is students of  State Madrasah Aliyah 1 Bandar Lampung and obtained X.6 and X.7 class at school year 2012-2013 which has almost the same characteristics. The effectiveness of Problem solving learning model measured on the difference and the improvement of a significant gain. The results showed the average value of n-Gain classification skills for control class and experiment class are 0.51 and 0.44, and the average value of n-Gain comunication skills for control class and experiment class are 0.66 and 0.60. Based on the test of the hypothesis, it is known that a class with Problem solving learning model has classification skills and comunicatin skills higher than conventional class learning. This showed that the Problem solving learning was effective in improving the classification skills and comunication skills.Proses pembelajaran sangat dipengaruhi oleh ketepatan guru dalam memilih dan menerapkan model pembelajaran.  Model yang dapat diterapkan untuk meningkat­kan keterampilan mengelompokkan dan mengkomunikasikan adalah model pembe­lajaran problem solving.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran model problem solving dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menge­lompokkan dan mengkomunikasikan pada materi pokok larutan elektrolit dan non-elektrolit serta redoks.Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa MAN 1 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 kelas X6 dan kelas X7.  Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalent Control Group Design.  Efektivitas model pembelajaran problem solving diukur berdasarkan peningkatan gain yang signifikan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rerata n-Gain keterampilan mengelompokkan kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,441 dan 0,60 dan rerata n-Gain keterampilan meng-komunikasikan kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,51 dan 0,66. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis, diketahui bahwa kelas dengan pembelajaran problem solving memiliki keterampilan mengelompokkan dan mengkomunikasikan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas pembelajaran konvensional.  Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran problem solving lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan keteram­pilan mengelompokkan dan mengkomunikasikan siswa.Kata kunci : Pembelajaran problem solving, keterampilan mengelompokkan, keterampilan mengkomunikasikan.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of problem based learningon pollution by bleach wasteto improve higher order thingking skills.  The method used quasi experiment with the matching only pretest and postestt control group design.  Population in this research was all students of class XI IPA one of Senior High School in Bandarlampung.  The sample of the research are XI IPA2 as experiment class and XI IPA 5 as control class that obtained by purposive sampling tehnique.  Data analysis technique used was parametric statistic test, that using t-test.  The results of this study it can be seen from Posttest value in experiment class is greater than the posttest value in control class, as well as the n-gain on the medium categorized in the experiment class and on low categorized in control class.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis masalah pencemaran limbah cairan pemutih dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada siswa.  Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain The Matching Only Pretest and Postestt Control Group Design.  Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA salah satu SMA di Bandarlampung.  Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas XI IPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA 5 sebagai kelas kontrol yang diperoleh dari teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling.  Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji statistik parametrik, menggunakan uji-t..  Hasil penelitian dapat dilihat dari nilai postes keterampilan berrpikir tingkat tinggi kelas eksprimen lebih tinggi daripada nilai postes kelas kontrol.  Rata-rata n-gain kelas keksprimen berkategori sedang dan rata-rata n-gain kelas kontrol berkategori rendah.Kata kunci: pencemaran limbah pemutih, keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi, pembelajaran berbasis masalah
