Abstract

Village Nelayan Indah is community conduct farming in mangrove areas that affect the welfare of farmers. The focus of research are to see mangrove population, economic value analysis of the level of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), milkfish (Chanos chanos), and tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) with welfare of farming. The method used purposive sampling (intentionally). Based on the research object are the society with the primary livelihood as farmers from one of these commodities in the mangrove areas of Village Nelayan Indah in April until May 2015. Mangrove populations were analyzed by the method of line transect 2 census pioneered. Economic value analysis are based on a detailed questionnaire to see income, benefit cost ratio (BCR) and the payback period (PP) and the level of welfare in quantitative and descriptive. The results of the study indicates that are mangrove population in lines 1, 2 are Rhizophora apiculata mangrove populations and the lowest result in the lines 1, 2 are Avicennia alba. Analysis of the economic value of the tilapia ponds income Rp.261.149.000 hectares per year with a value of BCR 7,61 and 0,11 years of PP grades. Milkfish revenue of Rp.192.215.617 hectares per year with a value of 11,04 and PP 0,17 BCR Year. Shrimp farm income of Rp.125.183.133 hectares per year as well as the BCR 7 with PP of 0,39 years. Abstract

Morphometry and water quality are primary data to assessing the potential of the lake.Morphometry data of lake is need in determining the lake?s layers and also determine theability to use by people. Pondok Lapan Lake is an artificial lake which located in Langkat.The purpose of this study was to determine the morphometric of aspects Pondok Lapan Lakeand determine the capacity that might be. The research was conducted from January untilMarch 2015. Data collection were performed in this research that were depth, stream flow,and around the lake are processed using ArcView. From the results, the lake morphometricaspects of wide Pondok Lapan Lake is around 63.472,78 m², the maximum length of 548,28m, 220,23 m maximum width, circumference 2.200,83 m, maximum depth of 4.15 m, with asloping bottom waters and shape of the lake bottom surface is irregular. And the capacity ofthe Pondok Lapan Lake which can be used by the public is 153.484,43 m³ of water volume,stream flow around 12.963,456 m³/day-14.111,712 m³/day, Recidance time of water about11-12 days, the brightness of the water approximately 0,965 m ? 1,056 m with a depth ofcompensation approximately 2,612 - 2,858 mKeywords : Pondok Lapan Lake, lake morphometry, lake capacity

Abstract

Makrozoobenthos can be used as bioindicators as it can determine the condition of a bodywater. This study focused on community structure of macrozoobenthos and measurement ofphysical and chemical factors. This study was conducted in January until March 2015.Macrozoobenthos retrived done using Eckman grabb, samples sorted using the Hand sorting.Samples were obtained identified in the Integrated Laboratory of USU. The highest density ofspecies found in Bithynia tentaculata were namely 48 ind / m2 was found in station I and thelowest in Campeloma decisum species were namely 6 ind / m2 was found at stations II andIV. The value of the highest diversity (H ') contained in the station III were namely 1.09 andthe lowest at station IV were namely 1.04. Habitat Similarity between stations based onphysical parameters that are most similar water chemistry contained in the station I and IIIwere namely 94%. Habitat Similarity between species are most similar to the station I and IIIwere namely 92%. Based on a Pondok Lapan lake?s LQI value categorized into pollutedwaters being were namely 3 and based on the FBI Pondok Lapan Lake?s category rather poorwaters that have were namely 6.Keywords : Pondok Lapan Lake?s, Community Structure, Macrozoobenthos

Abstract

The Siombak lake is an artificial lake that formed as a result of sanddredging activities. The Siombak lake is near with the coast and influencedby ups and downs. The purpose from this study is to known themorphometry aspects of Siombak lake and to known the condition of theSiombak lake waters. This study was conducted over three months themonth of May to July 2014 in the waters of the Siombak lake, Paya PasirWards, Medan Marelan sub district, Medan City. The methods of research indata collection of morphometry is decisive for retrieval. The dimensionalsurface measurement is done by surrounding the periphery of the lake byusing a GPS (Global Positioning System) device. The subsurfacedimensional measurement carried out by measuring the depth of the topeweight scale that helped with the small ship. In the water sampling donethree time at five stations. Based on the results obtained, the Siombak lakehas a surface area of maximum length (Lmax) 740,3 meters, maximumwidth (Wmax) 708,3 meters. The Siombak lake also have depth maximum(Zm) of about 4-5 meters at high tide and 3-4 meters at low tide. Abstract

The Cermin Beach has a higher natural value such as biodiversity, one of them is bivalve. The objective this research is to study the community structure of bivalve and waters condition in Pantai Cermin of Serdang Bedagai Regency. This research was conducted since June - August 2013 using transec method at 3 station and 4 time interval of sampling. The observed physical and chemical parameter are temperature, salinity, pH, DO, TSS, and type of basic substrate.Bivalve are found in Cermin Beach of Serdang Bedagai Regency consists 15 species, i.e. The species with most value on each station is Donax cuneatus with the abudance in station I that is 150 ind/m2, the abudance in station II that is 331 ind/m2 and abudance in station III is 247 ind/m2. The species diversity index of bivalve range from 0,85 ? 1,22, uniformity index of bivalve range from 0,18 ? 0,30, domination index of bivalve range from 0,35 ? 0,57 and pollution index range from 1,23 ? 1,61 is lightly polluted.Keywords: Bivalvia,Cermin Beach, Community Structure

Abstract

The African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is nocturnal, that is active at night or more like to dark place. The fry of catfish also requires high feeding frequency because the stomach is still small as a straight tube. This research was conducted to observe the effect of feeding frequency in dark condition to growth rate, survival rate and feeding efficiency of African catfish fry (C. gariepinus). The research was held on hatchery UPT Budidaya Dinas Pertanian dan Kelautan Kota Medan. Fry of catfish (C. gariepinus) were used average body size 8 - 9 cm and body weight 5 - 8 g, total fry cath fish 120 fish with stocking density 10 fish/washbasin. Twelve washbasin (50 liter volume) were used with aeration system and covered with black HD plastic layer to make dark condition for 24 hours. The parameter observed was 28 day were : growth rate, survival rate, feeding efficiency and water quality. Experimental design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatment and 3 replications and further test use Least Significant Difference (LSD). The treatment was feeding frequency at 3 (at 08.00, 16.00 and 24.00), 4 meals (at 08.00, 14.00, 20.00 and 02.00), 5 meals (at 08.00, 12.48, 17.36, 22.24 and 03.12) and 6 meals (at 08.00, 12.00, 16.00, 20.00, 24.00 and 04.00) times a day in dark condition. The results indicated that the feeding frequency significantly effect to the growth rate and feeding efficiency, but did not significantly effect to survival rate. Feeding frequency 6 times a day is the best daily growth rate and feeding efficiency at 4,90% and 94,90%. Feeding frequency 3 times a day the old daily growth rate and feeding efficiency at 2,44%. and 44,03%.Keywords : Clarias gariepinus, feeding frequency, dark condition, growth.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Naborsahan River, North Sumatera in April-June 2013. It was aimed to know water quality in Naborsahan River, fish community structure and the relationship between community structure and physical and chemical factors of water. A survey method was conducted using Purpose Random Sampling in 4 stations. The obtained data were principal component Analysis (PCA) and analyzed descriptively.This research obtained 8 families, 9 genus, 10 species and 10745 individual fish. Highest relative abundance was fish species Bilih of 98.83%, while the lowest was goldfish and Sword Platy fish is 0.016%. Diversity index, fish uniformity index obtained,dominance index and index of similarity ranged from 0.08?0.73, 0.04-0.53, 0.59 - 0.98 and 50% - 89%, respectively. Temperature, current velocity, depth, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, phosphate, nitrite, nitrate and turbidity varied between 22-25oC, 0.24-0.44 m/s, 0.62-0.79, 0.45-0.76, 6.75-7.9, 7.1-10.9 mg/l, 2.22-8.06 mg/l, 0.003-0.005 mg/l, 0.424-0.584 mg/l, 0.039-0.059 mg/l and 4.207-16.617 NTU, respectively. The results of PCA showed that temperature, depth, brightness, pH, DO and BOD5 are highly correlated with community structure. While flow, turbidity, nitrate, nitrite and phosphate are the lowest correlating factor of community structure.Keywords: Diversity, Fish, Water Quality, Naborsahan.

Abstract

Aquaculture of floating net cages system at Lake Toba in particularHaranggaol developed rapidly, As uncontrolled development unit ofculture can cause water quality decreased in Haranggaol, Toba Lake sothat it can pass through water quality standard. This research aim to knowthe level of water pollution in Lake Toba Haranggaol using the STORETand Index Pollution Method then compare it without floating net cages.This research was done in May- July 2013. Sampling method used methodof purposive random sampling. Station was used for research was Station 1at environment of floating net cages and Station 2 at without floating netcages area. Result shown water temperature: 26-28 0C, brightness: 2,8-5,35meter, turbidity: 0,16-7.13 NTU, TSS: 12.36-19.36 mg/l, pH: 7,1-8,3, DO:4,3?6,3 mg/l, BOD: 0,4-1,7 mg/l, COD: 4,42-6,63 mg/l, NH3: 0,115-0,293mg/l, NO3: 0,306-0,814 mg/l, NO2: 0,001-0,015 mg/l, PO4: 0,038-0,188mg/land Colifecal: 8,6?22,2 MPN/100 ml. Based on the results of research therewere some parameters that have passed water quality standard atenvironment of floating net cages was 0,217 mg/l of NH3, 0,578 mg/l of NO3and 0,134 mg/l of PO4, while at without floating net cages area was 0,144mg/l of NH3, 0,401 mg/l of NO3 and 0,056 mg/l of PO4. Based on Storetmethod, both research station categorized into the class C that was middlepolluted. Abstract

Baung fish (Mystus nemurus CV) is a fish of high economic value. Thepurpose of research to reproductive aspects (sex ratio, gonad maturity level (TKG),gonad maturity index (IKG), first time size mature gonad, fecundity and eggdiameter). The study was conducted from March to May 2013 at three locations . Themethod used descriptive analytic .Sex ratio of Baung fish with unbalanced sex ratio with a value of 4.5>3.8.Gonad maturity level (TKG) found I- IV, while the male fish only I- III. gonadmaturity index (IKG) female fish 0.01-7.33% and 0.01-0.26% for male fish . The firstgonad size mature female fish is 268 mm . Fecundity of Baung fish is 18229-44 392eggs . Abstract

Watershed is the area bounded ridge where the rain water that falls on the area will be accommodated by the ridge and will be streamed through small streams to the main river. The presence of sand dredging activities in upstream watersheds Belawan can be lower water quality and abundance of micro-organisms, including plankton. This research had been conducted from April to July 2013 in Belawan Watershed Headwaters. This research used Purpossive Random Sampling methods. There were 2 stations, Station 1: Pertampilen village, District Pancur Batu as an active area of sand dredging activities, Station 2: Salam Tani village, District Pancur Batu as areas which were far away from the sand dredging activities. Sampling activities were conducted 4 times once/month. The research aimed to knew water quality and determined the abundance of plankton in Belawan Watershed Headwaters.The results showed that at the station I, there were found 19 genera of phytoplankton and 1 genera of zooplankton and at the station II, there were only found 17 genera of phytoplankton. Plankton abundance at the station I was 85, 404 ind/l and at station II was 128,684 ind/l. Water quality at the station I had passed the thresholds as water quality raw materials, such as ammonia and nitrite. Turbidity also have very high at station I. This research showed that the sand dredging activity affected the abudance of plankton in the river.Keywords: Water Quality, Sand Dredging, Plankton, River
