Curriculum 2013 mandates that learners should be able to understand mathematical concepts well, making it easier for learners to solve the problems of mathematics. However, there are still many students who are not able to understand mathematical concepts well, including the concept of integer arithmetic operations. This is because students think math as a complicated subject, so make the most of students do not like math. Therefore, teachers should be able to create learning that presents a fun and challenging atmosphere that make learners more excited. This study aims to determine the understanding of the concept of integer arithmetic operations of learners after participating in BrainBased Learning. This type of research is experimental research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. This research was conducted in one of the Year 7 classes in the SMPIT AlAzhar Banda Aceh. The results showed that the understanding of the concept of learners after participating in BrainBased Learning (BBL) categorized as good, as seen from the values obtained by the four students were selected as subjects in this study. Learners who initially operate regardless of the sign of the times and to come to understand that multiplication and division should be done first. Likewise, with learners who initially was mistaken in operating the positive and negative integers, once implemented, BBL has been able to do it right and achieve some indicators of understanding of the concept.

The ability of mathematical creative thinking and selfconfidence are ones of the targets in mathematics learning. Therefore, learners need a relevant model to have them be active in searching information themselves, group working, building selfconfidence, and improving creative thinking in perceiving and understanding the information to resolve a problem. One of the models is modeleliciting activities to improve students? mathematical creative thinking and selfconfidence to have students organize their own knowledge in learning. Applying this model, this research was to investigate (1) the differences of students? mathematical creative thinking improvement through dividing into low, medium, and high subgroups, (2) the description of students? selfconfidence in mathematics learning, and (3) the correlation of creative thinking ability and selfconfidence in mathematics learning. This experiment used onegroup pretestposttest design. The population was all first year students of SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh, and the sample was all students in Class XIA3. The instruments applied in the research were mathematical creative thinking ability test and selfconfidence questionnaire. The statistic testing applied in data analysis was the average difference test, whereas the questionnaire was counted based on the percentage. The result obtained showed that the improvement in students? mathematical creative thinking exists in those who applied modeleliciting activities. While, the result from the questionnaire proves that the majority of the students (74.6%) establish positive view toward mathematics learning using modeleliciting activities. In contrast, there was no any correlation between creative thinking ability and selfconfidence in mathematics learning.

The ability of representation is one of the important components to develop students thinking skills, because this capability is instrumental in helping students to transform abstract ideas into real idea and it can train students to improve problem solving skills with a variety of forms including pictures, diagrams, mathematical expressions, or words or written text. One model of learning that increases the ability of the mathematical representation is a learning model of problembased learning. This research aims to: 1) determine a mathematical representation increased ability of students taught with problem based learning models 2) the interaction between the learning model of problembased learning and grouping of students to increase the ability of the mathematical representation. This research is a quantitative research with an experimental method, that has pretestposttest group design. The population was all students of class X SMA UnggulPidie Jaya by samples of two classes, namely class X3 as an experimental class and class X2 as the control class. The data collection was done by using test. Then analyzed by t test and ANOVA at the 0.05 significance level after testing prerequisites are met. Based on the analysis we can conclude that: 1) to improve the mathematical representation of students who applied learning model of problem based learning is better than an increase in the ability of the mathematical representation of students who received conventional learning. 2) there is no interaction between the learning model and grouping of students to increase the ability of mathematical representation.

Students are often confronted with problems related to mathematics in their daily life. Problem solving is one of the competencies that are the focus of mathematics learning. Solving the problem needs creativity in order to develop the imagination of the students to avoid a single answer and uniforms to students. Creativity is a process to produce something new that can be accepted as useful and defensible. The research objective of this experiment was to determine: (1) the effect of Treffinger learning model to increase of mathematical creative thinking abilities of students at SMPN 16 Banda Aceh, (2) the effect of Treffinger learning model to increase of mathematical problem solving abilities of students at SMPN 16 Banda Aceh, and (3) the description of students' response to Treffinger learning model in mathematics. The population in this study was all students of class VII SMP 16 Banda Aceh and the subject of research was selected as the experimental class was VII2. The instrument of this research was to test the ability of creative thinking and problem solving skills have the form mathematical problems of three questions, have the reliability of 0.592. The results show that: (1) there was an effect of Treffinger learning model to increase of mathematical creative thinking abilities of students at SMPN 16 Banda Aceh, (2) there was an effect of Treffinger learning model to increase of mathematical problem solving abilities of students at SMPN 16 Banda Aceh, and (3) the students of class VII2 SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh have responded positively to the Treffinger learning model

This research aimed is to describe students' logicalmathematical intelligence through projectbased learning. This study was descriptive qualitative research. Participants in this research are students of class XI school in Meulaboh for one class that is class XI1. The data is students answer that was obtained from the logicalmathematical intelligence test. The data collected by using multiple intelligence tests and student answers results obtained from the task of logicalmathematical intelligence during the projectbased learning process. The results show that in general logicalmathematical intelligence during projectbased learning each group meets a minimum of four out of five aspects of logicalmathematical intelligence. Thus, the logicalmathematical intelligence of students developing after the implementation of the projectbased learning.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa setelah diberikan pembelajaran Brain Based Learning pada siswa MTs, serta mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan komunikasi matematis setelah diberikan pembelajaran Brain Based Learning dan pembelajaran konvensional pada siswa MTs. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan desain control group pretestposttest design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTsN 2 Banda Aceh. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan simple random sampling, yang terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas VIII4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengumpulan data digunakan dengan menggunakan lembar tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu uji NGain, ujit independen. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi yang diberikan pembelajaran Brain Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa serta kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang diberikan pembelajaran Brain Based Learning lebih baik daripada kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Abstract:This study aimed at determining the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills after the Brain Based Learning model applied in MTs students, and the differences of the mathematical communication skills applied by the Brain Based Learning model and those applied in conventional learning of MTs students. The research method was quasiexperimental research with a pretestposttest design group control design. The population in this study were all VIII students of MTsN 2 Banda Aceh. Sampling was done by using simple random sampling, which consisted of two classes namely class VIII4 as the experimental class and class VIII2 as the control class. The data collected used a mathematical communication ability test sheet. The data analysis techniques used in this research were NGain test, independent ttest. From the research results obtained (1) NGain Test with an average value obtained 0.54 with the category "Medium”. So it can be concluded that by applying the Brain Based Learning model can improve students' mathematical communication skills. (2) Based on independent ttest, obtained tcount = 4.32 and ttable = 1.67, then tcount > ttable, this means reject H0 accept H1, it can be concluded that students' mathematical communication skills applied to the Brain Based Learning learning model are more better than students' mathematical communication skills applied to conventional learning.

The learning process of mathematics, especially the one related to the characteristic of cylinder, at elementary school or at the other higher level of school only required the students to memorize the concept of it without comprehending its meaning. Based on that reason, it is a need to have an appropriate learning approach to help the students in understanding the characteristics of cylinder. This research aims to describe the learning activity of cylinder characteristic by using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). There were five students of grade V from SDN 3 Sigli who were involved in this study.Byusing the approach, the students were motivated to learn about cylinder characteristics more meaningfully. The use of the appropriate context that matches with the students? culture also became a strong foundation for them in possessing a meaningful experience toward the material. It also can lead them to have more formal learning experiences (identifying the characteristics of cylinder). There were three kinds of activities that are conducted in the study and were related to introduction the characteristicsof cylinder. They were glueing by using different colour, drawing a tissue place, and unloading the model of the tissue place. The use of concrete objects that relates to the culture of the students to develop their ability in understanding the material of the cylinder was the first step in learning the cylinder volume concept

The purpose of this study to determine enhancement the ability of understanding and communication mathematically by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) in the learning activity. The population in this study were students of SMAN 3 Banda Aceh with a sample of two classes. Type of research is experimental with pretestposttest control group design. The experimental group was treated with a model of learning in the form of PBL and the control group with conventional learning. Data were collected using achievement test and observation sheets during the learning takes place. The results of data analysis showed that 1)there are significant differences in increased ability mathematical understanding of students who received PBL learning compared to conventional learning are reviewed as a whole and based on the level of students, 2) there is an interaction between the factors of student learning at low levels and moderate to increased understanding of mathematical abilities, but no interaction at a high level because the student already has a good ability of mathematical understanding, 3) there are significant differences in enhancement communication skills students acquire mathematical learning by PBL compared to students who received conventional learning is reviewed based on the whole student, but there is no difference if the review is based on the level of the student, 4) there is interaction between the factors of student learning at low levels and moderate to increased mathematical communication but no interaction at a high level because students already have a good mathematical communication skills.

The purpose of this study was to determine the differences between improvement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students who obtain a model of learning through discovery learning and students who received conventional teaching. This research was a quantitative study with experimental method, that has pretestposttest group design. The population was all students at MTsN Lambalek by taking samples of two classes, namely classVIIIA as the experimental class and VIIIB as the control class. Then, the data were collected by using testing techniques. The collected data were analyzed by ANOVA. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the students' mathematical reasoning abilities in experimental class was better than the control class which was reviewed based on the whole student and grouping students.

Mathematics is structured that any material science related. To understand the interrelated mathematical material this needs the capability mathematics. Connection ability mathematical connection is very important and is one of the capabilities that must be owned by a person and the unavoidable presence when someone studying mathematics. This study aims to determine: Is the increase in mathematical connection ability of students who obtain advance learning through learning model organizer better than students who received conventional learning, interaction learning model initial advance organizer with the ability of students to increase the ability of students' mathematical connections, and describes the ability to make map concept of junior high school students who acquire learning through advanced learning model organizer. This research uses an experimental quantitative methods approach. The population in this study were all seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Lhokseumawe consisting of ten classes. As a sample of randomly selected classes will be the subject of study chosen as an experimental class VII1 class and class VII5 control. Instrumen elected as class research in this study is testing the ability to connect mathematical description shaped totaled about 5 grains soal. Koefisien the reliability test of 0.672 koefisien reliabilitas tests showed high levels. The results showed that: (1) Increased ability of students being taught mathematical connection with the advance organizer learning model is better than the students who obtain conventional overall learning and based on the level of the student. (2) There is no interaction learning model initial advance organizer with the ability of students to increase the ability of students' mathematical connections. (3) The ability of the students create concept maps in learning mathematics through advanced learning model organizer adalah well.
