Abstract

Abstract: The study investagates if the extensive reading activity is effective in improving students? reading comprehension achievement and if there is any interaction between the extensive reading and the students? reading motivation.This study employs a quasi-factorial design with a pretest and posttest non-equivalence group design. The subjects of the study were the second semester students of STAIN Curup, Bengkulu in academic year 2011-2012. Students? reading comprehension achievement was measured by an objective test in the form of multiple choices; students? reading motivation was profiled and classified by a reading motivation questionnaire. In analyzing the data collected, the re-search used Multivariate Analysis of Covariance. This research reveals the following findings. (1) The students taught by the extensive reading activity showed higher scores than those taught by conventional way. (2) There is no interaction between students? motivation and extensive reading. Key Words: extensive reading, reading comprehension, effectiveness Abstrak: Studi ini meneliti apakah kegiatan membaca ekstensif efektif meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam memahami bacaan dan apakah ada interaksi antara membaca ekstensif dan motivasi membaca siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan quasi-factorial design dengan pre test dan posttest non-equiva-lence group design. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester II STAIN Curup, Bengkulu tahun ajaran 2011-2012. Prestasi pemahaman siswa membaca diukur dengan tes objektif dalam bentuk pilihan ganda; motivasi membaca siswa digambarkan dan diklasifikasikan dengan kuesioner motivasi membaca. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan multivariat analisis kovarians. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan kegiatan membaca ekstensif menunjukkan skor yang lebih tinggi daripada yang dibelajarkan dengan cara konvensional. (2) Tidak ada interaksi antara motivasi belajar siswa dengan membaca ekstensif. Kata kunci: membaca ekstensif, pemahaman bacaan, efektivitas

Thesis, Surakarta: Teacher Training and Education Faculty of the University of Surakarta of March. March 2013. The purpose of this study were: 1) describe the learning use cooperative model type Jingling Buttons in Writing Poemin the fourth grade at Elementary Public School Rowo, 2) upgrading writing poem skill in the fourth grade at Elementary Public school Rowo. This study is a Class Action Research (CAR). the experimentwas conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, acting, observation, and reflection. Subject were 29 student second grade at Elementary Public school Rowo. The data source came from the fourth grade teacher, peers, and students fourth grade. The data are collected by technique of observation, interview, testing, and documentation. The result showed that: 1) the application of Cooperative Model type Jingling Buttons can improve learning and Affairs fourth grade students' ability to write poem, 2)The learning step was: 1) Presentation of topics of learning, 2) Group Formation, 3) Use of Mechanical Buttons jingling, 4) Discussion, 5) Assignment. Keywords: cooperative learning, types offastenersjingling, writesrhymes Abstrak: Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Pantun Melalui Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif  Tipe Kancing Gemerincing Siswa Kelas IV SD Negeri Rowo Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013. Skripsi, Surakarta: Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Maret 2013. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: 1) mendeskripsikan tentang pembelajaran menggunakan  model Kooperatif tipe Kancing Gemerincing pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Rowo dalam menulis pantun,2) meningkatkan kemampuan menulis pantun siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Rowo. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri atas perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Rowo yang berjumlah 29 siswa. Sumber data berasal dari guru kelas IV, teman sejawat, serta siswa kelas IV. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, wawancara,tes, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa : 1) Penerapan model Kooperatif tipe Kancing Gemerincing dapat meningkatkan  pembelajaran dan kemampuan siswa kelas IV SD dalam menulis pantun, 2) Langkah-langkah pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan  pembelajaran dan kemampuan siswa kelas IV yaitu: 1) Guru menyiapkan satu kotak kecil yang berisi kancing-kancing (dapat juga diganti dengan benda kecil lainnya), 2) sebelum kelompok memulai tugas, setiap siswa diberi kancing yang jumlahnya disesuaikan dengan tingkat kesukaran tugas, 3) setiap kali siswa berpendapat, siwa tersebut harus menyerahkan satu kancing dan meletakkanya di dalam kotak, 4) jika kancing yang dimiliki siswa sudah habis, siswa tersebut tidak boleh mengeluarkan pendapat lagi sampai semua rekannya menghabiskan kancingnya, 5) jika semua kancing telah habis, sedangkan tugas belum selesai, kelompok boleh mengambil kesepakatan untuk membagi kancing lagi dan mengulangi prosedurnya kembali.   Kata kunci: pembelajaran kooperatif, tipe Kancing Gemerincing, menulis pantun

Abstract

Makassar is a big city with the highest number of dentists in South Sulawesi. Currently there are many dentists in thecity of Makassar using amalgam as a filling material for cheaper and more durable, so it is preferred by patients.Generally, they have ignored the dangers of exposure to mercury in amalgam through breathing or skin contact. For itwas on this descriptive observational study noted the efforts of Makassar dentist to prevent hazards due to the use ofamalgam in practice. From the general population of dentists who were registered as members of the IndonesianDentists Association (IDA) branch Makassar as much as 258 people, based on the opinions of Gay and Diehl withanticipation drop out of 20%, was obtained a sample of 100 people, but only 67 respondents (male = 13, female = 54)uses amalgam. The results are efforts to prevent the danger of amalgam achieved 51-75% by 32 respondents (47.7%),76-100% by 25 respondents (37.3%), 26-50% by 10 respondents (15%), and no respondents who seek prevention ofcross infection hazard to the achievement of 0-25%. Efforts to prevent with the achievement of 51-75% (32respondents) and 76-100% (25 respondents), could be said to have met the standard, concluded that 85% of dentists inMakassar have good enough prevention efforts to amalgam while doing their practice.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were knowing the guidelines used by the teachers and describing how the teachers implemented the guidelines in designing English materials in curriculum 2013. The researcher chose descriptive study as the kind of research and presented the results in qualitative way. There were five teachers from some Senior High Schools who had participated as the subjects of the research. The researcher used document analysis and interview to collect the data. Document analysis was used to know what the guidelines used by the teachers in designing English materials were. Then, interview was used to collect the detailed qualitative data expressed in the respondents’ own words in order to describe the implementation of guidelines by the teachers in designing English materials. The results of this research, based on Howard and Major’s theory, showed that the teachers used thirteen guidelines and did not use three guidelines in designing English materials. Next, the teachers implemented the guidelines by using syllabus as a guidance, and the materials were designed based on students’ experiences, realities and ages. Based on the results of this research, the researcher suggested the teachers to pay more attention to the guidelines provided, because it is important to make the materials which you designed suitable with the standards in syllabus and students’ needs.

Abstract

Partisipasi masyarakat dalam pemilihan umum kepala daerah merupakan suatu tindakan memilih pemimpin yang dapat memimpin dengan baik daerahnya. Kecenderungan untuk memilih salah satu kandidat dalam pemilihan umum kepala daerah terbentuk oleh suatu perilaku pemilih yang telah dibentuk dari lingkungan keluarga dan masyarakat sekitarnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku masyarakat Kecamatan Songgom dalam agenda pemilihan umum diKabupaten Brebes. Berdasarkan tujuan penelitian tersebut, maka metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif.Kata kunci: pemilihan umum kepala daerah, partisipasi masyarakat, perilaku pemilih

Abstract

This thesis was aimed to find out teachers? techniques in teaching English and teachers? problems at Chariyatham Suksa Foundation School. This research was mixed- method which presented in descriptive way to describe it. Teachers from Indonesia who thought in secondary school are conducted informants or subject of this study and the last year students of secondary school of Chariyatham Suksa Foundation School are participants in this research. The researcher used observation, interview and questionnaire to get data that needed. In analysis data, first researcher identifies and checks data that be collected. After that, researcher describes all data that got. Next, researcher classifies data into categories based on research instrument and the last is interpret the data which gotten. The findings revealed that in teaching English. The teacher A used and implemented games, organizational, dialogue/narrative presentation and reading aloud techniques. Then teacher B used and implemented warm up, content explanation, brainstorming, checking, question-answer display technique. Meanwhile, teacher A got problem in lack of interest, lack of concentration in the class, lack of repetition and frequent practice of students, insufficient time, recourse and material and students is defiant, rowdy, or distracting of other. then teacher B got problem on lack of concentration in the class, lack of repetition and frequent practice of the students and Insufficient Time, Resource and Materials.

Abstract

Ergonomi adalah upaya menciptakan sistem kerja yang lebih sehat, aman dan nyaman. Dokter gigi harus memahami tujuan mempelajari ergonomi di tempat praktik untuk menghindari risiko bahaya kerja. Postur tubuh yang ergonomi merupakan hal yang paling sering dihubungkan dengan faktor risiko bahaya kerja. Ada suatu zona pergerakan netral untuk pergerakan yang tidak memerlukan kekuatan otot yang berlebih atau menyebabkan ketidaknyamanan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional deskriptif. Dari populasi dokter gigi umum yang terdaftar sebagai anggota Persatuan Dokter Gigi Indonesia (PDGI) cabang Kota Makassar sebanyak 258 orang, didapatkan sampel sebanyak 100 orang, sesuai Gay dan Diehl dengan antisipasi drop out 20%. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan postur tubuh ergonomi yang paling sering diabaikan oleh respoden adalah memposisikan kaki dan punggung, sebanyak 27 respoden (27%). Penempatan pedal drive yang berdekatan dengan kaki merupakan postur tubuh ergonomi yang paling jarang diabaikan, sebanyak 9 responden (9%). Terlihat bahwa reponden dengan klasifikasi baik merupakan yang paling tinggi sebanyak 73 respoden (73%), serta klasifikasi sangat baik sebanyak 24 respoden (24%) dan klasifikasi cukup sebanyak 3 respoden (3%). Disimpulkan bahwa dokter gigi di Kota Makassar harus memperhatikan postur tubuhnya agar lebihergonomi saat melakukan perawatan agar terhindar dari bahaya kerja.

Abstract

In the realm of English teaching and learning especially for those of non-native English users, English pronunciation instruction always calls for various techniques which can meet students? conditions that are naturally affiliated with their psychological and cultural complexities. Thus, the present study aimed at examining the impact of one of English pronunciation instruction techniques, the so-called shadowing technique, on tertiary students? English pronunciation at IAIN Curup, Bengkulu, Indonesia. An experimental study was conducted by engaging 40 tertiary English students selected randomly. They were split into two groups, wherein 20 students were taught English pronunciation using shadowing technique, and the rest 20 students were taught English pronunciation using a conventional technique. This study revealed that shadowing technique had a positive and significant impact on students? English pronunciation. Their English pronunciation improvement encompassed various components such as monophthongs, diphthongs, triphthongs, semi-vowels, consonants, consonant cluster sounds, strong and weak forms, linking phonemes, syllable stresses, word stresses, sentence stresses, rhythm, pitch and intonation. Further studies are expected to scrutinize the effect of shadowing technique on English pronunciation by involving more samples, making use of gender difference as a moderator variable, and testing the retention of English pronunciation improvement.
