Abstract

Abstract: Effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz to Improving the Critical Thinking. This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz to improving student’s critical thinking skill on Arrhenius acid-base topic. The research method used was quasi experimental with non-equivalen pretest-posttest control group design. The sample selection was done by cluster random sampling, and XI IPA 4 is obtained as experimental class and XI IPA 5 as control class. The effectiveness of Pre-Lecture Quiz was showed by the significant difference for average n-Gain of flexible thinking skill between the control and experiment class, for control class was 0.53 with middle categorize and for experiment class was 0.70 with high cateogorize. The conclusion of this research is effective Pre-Lecture Quiz and has a high effect size to improving the ability of critical thinking on Arrhenius acid-base topic. Keywords: critical thinking, Pre-Lecture Quiz, Arrhenius acid-base  Abstrak: Efektivitas Pre-Lecture Quiz untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas Pre-Lecture Quiz untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi asam basa Arrhenius. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan non-equivalen pretest-posttest control group design. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan secara cluster random sampling, dan diperoleh kelas XI IPA 4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA 5 sebagai kelas kontrol. Efektivitas Pre-Lecture Quiz ditunjukkan oleh perbedaan rata-rata n-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis yang signifikan antara kelas kelas kontrol dan eksperimen, yaitu kelas kelas kontrol sebesar 0,53 dengan kategori “sedang” dan eksperimen sebesar 0,70 dengan kategori “tinggi”. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu Pre-Lecture Quiz efektif dan mempunyai ukuran pengaruh yang besar untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi asam basa Arrhenius. Kata Kunci: keterampilan berpikir kritis, Pre-Lecture Quiz, asam basa Arrhenius DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v19i2.pp62-74

Abstract

This research aims to describe (1) lesson plan design; (2) learning process; (3) the appropriate evaluation systems (4) increasing of student’s scientific process skills; (5) increasing of acid base achievement through STAD type of cooperative in learning model. Conclusion of research are (1) lesson plan design was arranged on syntax: making group, delivering of purpose and motivating students, giving information, guiding study and group work, evaluating, giving quiz, and giving reward; (2) student activity achievement indicators at cycle III and teacher activity achieved at cycle II; (3) evaluation system was essay test by validity 0.630 (high), reliability of 0.71 (high), level difficulty (medium), and power discrimination (good); (4) student’s scientific process skills increase, 63,06% at cycle I , 72,91% at cycle II and 80,54 at cycle III; (5) student’s achievement increase 62,20% at cycle I, 73.7% at cycle II and 81,93 at cycle III.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) desain rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran; (2) proses pembelajaran; (3) sistem evaluasi yang tepat; (4) peningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa; (5) peningkatan prestasi belajar materi Asam Basa dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah (1) desain RPP disusun berdasarkan sintak: membentuk kelompok, menyampaikan tujuan dan memotivasi siswa, menyajikan informasi, membimbing kelompok bekerja dan belajar, evaluasi, memberi kuis, dan memberikan penghargaan; (2) aktivitas siswa mencapai indikator keberhasilan pada siklus III dan aktivitas guru mencapai indikator keberhasilan pada silus II (3) Sistem evaluasi dengan tes uraian dengan nilai validitas 0,637 (tinggi), reliabilitas 0,77 (tinggi), tingkat kesukaran (sedang), dan daya pembeda (baik); (4) keterampilan proses sains siswa meningkat, 63,06% pada siklus I, 72,91 pada siklus II dan 80,54% pada siklus III (5) prestasi belajar siswa meningkat, 62,20% pada siklus I, 73,7% pada siklus II dan 81,93% pada siklus III.Kata kunci: kooperatif STAD, keterampilan proses sains, prestasi belajar

Abstract

The purpose was to describe the, effectiveness of problem solving to improve learning motivation and concept mastery on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution topic.  This research was conducted at MAN Pringsewu used kuasi esperimental method with Equivalent (pretest-posttest) control group design.  The sample was obtained by purposive sampling technique, it was obtained sample was the X MIA 2 as Experimental class and X MIA 4 as control class.  Effectiveness was evidenced by improvement of the improve learning motivation and concept mastery students’ used t-test and effect size test. The result of this research shown that student activity is very high, teacher ability is high, the improve learning motivation and concept mastery students is high and effect size had large criteria.  Based on them, problem solving was effective and had big effect size to improve of the improve learning motivation and concept mastery students on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution topic.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan pembelajaran problem solving dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan di salah satu MAN Pringsewu menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalent (Pretest-posttest) control group design.  Sampel diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling diperoleh sampel yaitu kelas X MIA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan X MIA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol.  Keefektivan dibuktikan dari peningkatan motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa yang menggunakan uji-t serta didukung oleh kemampuan guru dan uji ukuran pengaruh.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata aktivitas siswa sangat tinggi, kemampuan guru selama pembelajaran tinggi, motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa tinggi serta ukuran pengaruh yang besar.  Berdasarkan hal tersebut, model problem solving efektif dan memiliki ukuran pengaruh yang besar dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit.Kata Kunci: motivasi belajar, penguasaan konsep, problem solving.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out effectiveness of problem solving learning model on salt hydrolysis material in improve the skill of classifying and concept mastery. The population of the research was all students in XI science class in SMAN I Way Jepara number in 120 students. The samples were 30 students in XI science 3 class and 30 students in XI science 4 that have equal academic abilities. This research was a quasi experiment using non equivalent (pretest-postest) control group design. Effectiveness of learning problem solving was measured based on significant gain improvements, and analyze of data using difference of two averages test. The results showed that average value of n-Gain of the skill of clasifying in experiment and control class were 0.67 and 0.42; and average value of n-Gain for concept mastery in experiment and control class were 0.62 and 0.19. The result of difference of two averages test showed that the class used problem solving had higher skill in clasify and concept mastery than class with conventional learning model. This is indicated that problem solving learning model was more effective in improving student’s skill in clasify and concept mastery than conventional learning model.Keywords: problem solving, salt hydrolysis material, improve the skill of classifying and concept mastery

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know effectiveness of problem solving learning in improving skill induct and considerate induction result . Population was 360 students of Grade X State Senior High School 12 in Bandar Lampung. Samples were X1 and X3 classroom. Every class has 38 students that have equal academic abilities. This was a quasi experiment research using non equivalent control group design. Effectiveness of problem solving learning was measured based on significant n-Gain improvements of showing the general thing and making conclution and hypotesis skill. The both are subindicator of  induction and considerate induction result. The results showed that average value of n-Gain of showing the general thing skill in experiment and control classrooms were 0.4 and 0.28 respectively; and average value of n-Gain for making conclution and hypotesis in experiment and control classrooms were 0.36 and 0.20 respectively. The result showed that classroom that used problem solving had higher induct and considerate result induction skill than classroom with conventional learning. This indicated that problem solving learning was effective to improve student’s induction and considerate induction result skill mastery of the concept at basic laws of chemistry.Keywords: Problem Solving, induction and considerate induction result skill

Abstract

The research was almed to describe the effect of scaffolding strategy in SiMaYang learning to improve the chemical literacy skill and to improve the learning motivation on acid base topic. The research used Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design method in SMAN 6 Metro using Cluster Random Sampling. The result showed that there were 84% improvement of chemical literacy and 76% improvement of students learning motivation in experimental class, influenced by scaffolding and 74% improvement of literacys and 57% improvement of students chemistry learning motivation in control class, influenced by learning without scaffolding. From the results above, it can be concluded that, in the experimental class, scaffolding in SiMaYang learning has big influence in improving the chemical literacy and learning motivation, mean while in the control class, the learning without scaffolding has moderate influence in improving the chemical literacy and learning motivation.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh strategi scaffolding pada pembelajaran SiMaYang dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi kimia dan motivasi belajar pada materi asam basa. Metode penelitian ini adalah Pretest-posttest Control Group Design di SMAN 6 Metro dengan Cluster Random Sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya 84% peningkatan literasi kimia dan 76% peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen dipengaruhi oleh scaffolding dan 74% peningkatan literasi dan 57% peningkatan motivasi belajar kimia siswa pada kelas kontrol dipengaruhi oleh pembelajaran tanpa scaffolding. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh disimpulkan bahwa pada kelas eksperimen scaffolding dalam pembelajaran SiMaYang memiliki pengaruh besar dalam meningkatkan literasi kimia dan motivasi belajar, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol pembelajaran tanpa scaffolding memiliki pengaruh sedang dalam meningkatkan literasi kimia dan motivasi belajar.Kata kunci : effect size, literasi kimia, motivasi belajar, scaffolding, SiMaYang

Abstract

This research purposes were to describe  characteristic of HOTS knowledge instrument assessment, describe teacher’s response, and describe studens’ response to HOTS knowledge instrument assessment. The research used method of research and development (R D) by Brog Gall, and the research subject was knowledge instrument assessment. The validation result was obtained percentage on aspects in suitability of content, readability, and construction were 92,30%; 88,33%; and 82,00%, respectively. The teacher’s response result was obtained on aspects in suitability of content, readability, and construction were 89,23%; 90%; and 90%, respectively. The results of students’ response to readability were 87.08 %, respectively. The results of this research indicate that knowledge assessment instrument is good and can be used it is seen from the reliability value and validity that have high category.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik, tanggapan guru dan respon siswa tehadap isnstrumen asesmen pengetahuan berbasis HOTS.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan atau Research and Development (R D) menurut Borg Gall, dengan subyek penelitian adalah instrumen asesmen pengetahuan. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli diperoleh persentase penilaian validator pada aspek keterbacaan, konstruk, dan kesesuaian isi sebesar 92,30%; 88,33%; dan 82,00%. Hasil respon guru pada aspek keterbacaan, konstruk, dan kesesuaian isi sebesar 89,23%; 90%; dan 90%.  Hasil respon siswa pada aspek keterbacaan sebesar 87,08%.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa instrumen asesmen pengetahuan sudah baik dan dapat digunakan hal ini dilihat dari nilai reliabilitas dan daya beda soal yang memiliki kategori tinggi.Kata kunci: istrumen, asesmen, keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the skills of classifying and inferring on colloidal material with application of guided inquiry learning model for high, medium, and low cognitive groups students. The subjects were XI Science 2 of Swadhipa Natar South Lampung 2012/2013. This research was pre-experimental research design with one-shot case study. It used descriptive analysis. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the student’s skill in classifying, in high group, 62,5% was excellent; and 37,5% good. In medium group, 20,0% was excellent; 60,0% good; and 20,0% enough. In the low group, 22,2% was good; and 77,7% was enough. For the student’s skill of inferring, in high group, 75,0% was excellent; and 25,0% good. In medium group, 26,6% excellent; 40% good; and 33,3% enough. In the low group, 33,3% good; and 66,6% enough.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan mengelompokkan dan inferensi pada materi koloid dengan model pembelajaran inkuri terbimbing untuk siswa kelompok kognitif tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Subyek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas XI IPA2 SMA Swadhipa Natar Lampung Selatan tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Penelitian ini merupakan pre-eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one-shot case study. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan keterampilan siswa mengelompokkan, kelompok tinggi 62,5% siswa berkriteria sangat baik; dan 37,5% baik. Kelompok sedang ada 20,0% berkriteria sangat baik; 60,0% baik; dan 20,0% cukup. Kelompok rendah 22,2% berkriteria baik; dan 77,7% cukup. Keterampilan siswa inferensi, kelompok tinggi 75% siswa berkriteria sangat baik; dan 25,0% baik. Kelompok sedang 26,6% berkriteria sangat baik; 40,0% baik; dan 33,3% cukup. Abstract

This research aimed to describe the effectiveness of NHT learning model to increase the students concept in the chemical bonds topic. This research used quasi experiment method with non-equivalent (pretest-posttest) control group design. Population of this research was students of the 10th grade in SMA Tri Sukses Natar on 2012/2013 academic year. This research used two classes as sample where they were taken by using purposive sampling. The results showed that the average of n-Gain of students concept in experimental and control class were 0.58 and 0.49, respectively. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, NHT learning model was effective to increase students concept in the chemical bonds topic.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model pembelajaran NHT dalam meningkatkan penguasaan konsep siswa materi ikatan kimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuasi eksperimen non equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Tri Sukses Natar tahun ajaran 2012 /2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan 2 kelas sebagai sampel dimana sampel tersebut ditentukan menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata n-Gain penguasaan konsep siswa untuk kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol masing-masing 0,58 dan 0,49. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis, disimpulkan bahwa model NHT efektif dalam meningkatkan penguasaan konsep siswa ikatan kimia.Kata kunci: ikatan kimia, model pembelajaran NHT, penguasaan konsep siswa

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the ability of drawing conclusions and applying concepts on the acid-base matery through the application of LC3E for students groups of high, intermediate and low level group. The subjects in this research were students of Grade XI Science 4 Senior High School 12 Bandar Lampung Academic Year 2012/2013.  This research was a descriptive research, used the pre-experimental method  with a one-shot case study design.  Data analysis used descriptive analysis. Based on the result of data analysis summarized that ability of drawing conclusions in high level group: almost half were excellent and the others were good. In  intermediate level group, almost all were good and the others were excellent. In low level group, small part were good enough and the others were good. The ability of applying the concept in high level group: almost all were excellent and the others were good. In  intermediate level group, just small part were excellent, just small part were good enough and the others were good. In low level group, almost half were excellent, almost half were good and the other were good enough.Kata Kunci: learning cycle 3E, kemampuan menarik kesimpulan, menerapkan konsep, kelompok kognitif.
