Abstract

TOEFL as a kind of English test is used to measure students? language proficiency. Binawan University applies TOEFL Prediction test to predict students? English competence. The TOEFL score then is aligned and mapped to CEFR to indicate the level of language ability and qualification.    This study was conducted to analyze TOEFL score of Binawan students at CEFR level. The sample was 169 students from several study programs at Binawan University. The research instrument used a package of PBT TOEFL test. Descriptive statistics was used as data analysis technique, mean and percentage. The calculation shows that the mean of the TOEFL prediction score reached by all participants is 413 and the median is 397. Based on CEFR, the students? competence in English is in level A2 (Basic User). Individually, the number of students who is in level A1 (Basic User) is 78 or 46.2 %, level A2 (Basic User) is 35 or 20.7 %, level B1 (Independent User) is 43 or 25.4 %, level B2 (independent User) is 12 or 7.1 %, and the last is level C1 which is occupied by 1 student only that is in level C1 (0.6 %). To conclude almost 50 % of the students were at low level or A2 (Basic User) at CEFR.

Abstract

ABSTRAKCahaya matahari merupakan salah satu faktor lingkungan terpenting baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung bagi organisme fotosintetik perairan dalam menyediakan energi untuk diubah menjadi energi kimia dengan bantuan klorofil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara ketersediaan cahaya matahari  dan konsentrasi pigmen fotosintetik di Perairan Selat Bali. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada pagi, siang dan sore hari pada lima stasiun penelitian di Perairan Selat Bali. Analisis korelasi kanonik digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara ketersediaan cahaya matahari dan pembentukan pigmen fotosintetik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intensitas cahaya matahari (Y2) lebih berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan pigmen klorofil-b (Y1) dengan korelasi kanonik sebesar 0,4512 bilamana dibandingkan dengan pembentukan pigmen klorofil-a (Y1) dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,3982. Semakin tinggi pembentukan pigmen klorofil-b (Y1) dapat meningkatkan pembentukan pigmen karotenoid (Y1) secara signifikan dengan nilai korelasi kanonik sebesar 0,7419. Kesimpulan dari hasil ini, bahwa pigmen klorofil-b dan pigmen karotenoid akan terbentuk secara optimum pada intensitas cahaya rendah. ABSTRACTSunlight is one of the most important environmental factors both directly and indirectly for  photosynthetic organisms in providing energy to be converted into chemical energy with the help of chlorophyll. This study aims to examine the relationship between the availability of sunlight and the concentration of photosynthetic pigments in Bali Strait waters. The study was conducted in the morning, midday and afternoon at five research stations in the Bali Strait waters. Canonical correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between sunlight availability and photosynthetic pigment formation. The results showed that the intensity of sunlight (Y2) had more influence on the formation of chlorophyll-b (Y1) pigments with canonical correlation of 0.4512 when compared with the formation of chlorophyll-a (Y1) pigment with a correlation value of 0.3982. The higher formation of chlorophyll-b (Y1) pigments can significantly increase the formation of carotenoid pigments (Y1) with canonical correlation values of 0.7419. From these results it can be concluded that chlorophyll-b pigments and carotenoid pigments will be formed optimally at low light intensities.

Abstract

Teachers? pedagogical ability contributes significantly to their process and learning performance. To improve it, a development process is needed as long as they are still having their process of education or they are still teacher students. This study aimed to develop a valid and practical PMRI learning environment through lesson study which had a potential effect on improving the pedagogical abilities of pre-service primary school teachers. A design research method of development study type was used in this study consisting of three phases, namely the preliminary, development or prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The research subjects were 32 students of Primary School Teacher Education of Sriwijaya University. The data were collected using walkthrough, observation, documentation, questionnaires, interviews, and tests. The study produced a learning environment with a valid and practical Campus-School (CS) model and had a potential effect on improving teacher students' pedagogical ability. The learning environment was in the form of training on campus and implementation in schools. Based on the data analysis, the learning environment was able to produce pre-service primary education teachers understanding the PMRI through lesson study and design PMRI learning tools through a lesson study.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to improve English reading ability through Look and Say Technique at SDIT AL MARJAN, BEKASI. This study used action research method which involved two cycles.  The population of this research was 27 of third grade students of SDIT AL MARJAN.  Based on the data from the pre test, it shows that the students’ competencies in reading English is still low.  After given treatment throughout the cycles (planning, acting, observing, and reflecting) in this study and the results of post tests, the student’s ability in reading English had been improved.  Qualitative data analysis shows that the students were interested during the process.  They enjoyed the learning and they were active in each part of the process. The students read better after the treatment.  The result of the analysis is strengthen by quantitative data analysis which shows in cycle I, tₒ= 5,2, it means 2, 06< 5,2 and in cycle II, tₒ= 7,0 or 2, 06< 7,0. (t table 5% = 2, 06).  Therefore, there is an improvement in English reading through look and say technique.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini betujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) pada kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa, serta mengetahui hubungan antara kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa SMA N 1 Lubuklinggau. Desain penelitian ini adalah randomized pretest-postest control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemahaman dan tes  kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Analisis dilakukan secara kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Model MMP tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan pemahaman matematika siswa; (2) Model MMP berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa; (3) Terdapat hubungan/keterkaitan antara kemampuan pemhaman dan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Kata Kunci    :   Model Missouri Mathematics Project, pemahaman, pemecahan masalah matematika  ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the effect models Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) the ability of understanding and solving mathematical problems of students, and to know the relationship between the ability of understanding and solving mathematical problems students SMA N 1 Lubuklinggau. Abstract

Masalah penelitian ini adalah apakah ada pengaruh model pembelajaran kontekstual terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Lubuklinggau Tahun Pelajaran 2015/2016. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kontekstual terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Lubuklinggau. Jenis penelitian ini adalah True Eksperimental Design, yaitu eksperimen yang dianggap sudah baik, karena sudah memenuhi persyaratan eksperimen, yaitu dengan adanya kelompok lain yang tidak mengalami eksperimen yang diamati, sehingga perubahan yang terjadi antara sebelum penelitian dan setelah penelitian benar-benar terlihat. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Lubuklinggau Tahun Pelajaran 2015/2016, yang terdiri dari 267 siswa. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan secara acak dengan cara pengundian. Setelah dilakukan pengundian, terpilih dua kelas sebagai sampel yaitu kelas X.3 sebagai kelas eksperimen yaitu kelas yang diberikan pengajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kontekstual dan kelas X.4 sebagai kelas kontrol yaitu kelas yang diberikan pengajaran konvensional. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik tes yang berbentuk uraian, kemudian menggunakan nilai Gain ternormalisasi (N-gain). Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan uji-t semu. Berdasarkan hasil analisis uji-t semu pada taraf  signifikan ? = 0,05, diperoleh thitung  (4,38)  (1,71), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran kontekstual terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Lubuklinggau Tahun Pelajaran 2015/2016.Kata Kunci : kontekstual, Koneksi Matematika

Abstract

This study focuses on the process of English words which are loaned or borrowed into Indonesian language and are used on Indonesian health articles in online news pages such as detik.com, kompas.com and viva.com. The data are analyzed based on the four word forms namely noun, verb, adjective and adverb. Besides, they are also analyzed based on either the morphological process or phonological process. The study applies the descriptive qualitative method applying the content analysis technique. The findings of the research show that there are 606 loan words. Based on word form category there are 425 words (70.13 %) as noun, adjective with 96 words (15.84%), verb with 82 words (13.50%) adverb with only 3 words (0.49%). For morphological process, it can be categorized in some various processes, they are affixation with several prefixes and suffixes. In addition, there are some words with reduplication as many as 7 words (6.14%) and abbrevation process, they are 13 words (11.40%). Phonological process occurs into several parts, they are adoption, translation and adaptation. For adoption, there are 395 words (65.18%), adaptation with 166 words (27.39%) and translation with 45 words (7.42%).

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa melalui metode kerja kelompok. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan menggunakan metode kerja kelompok. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama dua siklus penelitian dengan masing-masing siklus menempuh  prosedur  perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Tindakan dua siklus menghasilkan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa yang cukup signifikan mulai dari posttest sebelum tindakan, posttest siklus I maupun posttest siklus II. Hasil akhir penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa tindakan dua siklus berhasil menunjukkan peningkatan yaitu persentase ketuntasan posttest rata-rata sebelum tindakan adalah 52,78, pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 63,89, dan nilai rata-rata pada siklus II 78,33. Persentase peningkatan hasil belajar siswa setelah diberi tindakan adalah 34,73 %.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi pembelajaran aktif tipe Index Card Match terhadap hasil belajar Matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Lubuklinggau. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen murni, dengan desain yang digunakan yaitu random, pre-test, post-test desain.  Sebagai populasinya adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Lubuklinggau yang berjumlah 332  dan sebagai sampel yaitu kelas VIII.2 (kelas eksperimen) dan kelas VIII.5 (kelas kontrol). Kelas eksperimen menggunakan strategi pembelajaran aktif tipe Index Card Match dan kelas kontrol diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Berdasarkan hasil analisis uji-t untuk tes akhir untuk taraf signifikan α = 0,05 dan dk = 72 diperoleh thitung > ttabel yaitu 1,87 > 1,67. Rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada tes akhir dikelas eksperimen sebesar 75,32 dengan persentase jumlah siswa yang hasil belajarnya mencapai KKM sebesar 62,16%. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh strategi pembelajaran aktif tipe Index Card Match terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Lubuklinggau.
