Abstract

As North Sumatera Province has focused on agriculture in its development, a lot of agriculture researchs need to be conducted.   A research of biogas sludge ( from cattle dung) application on spinach plants was done on February until April 2012.  The research?s objective were to determine chemical quality of biogas sludge as organic fertilizer, the growth response of spinach plants and the economic benefits of biogas sludge.  The research was used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with seven replications and five treatments. The results showed that chemical quality of biogas sludge were as follows : N, P, K, C and pH 1.25% , 0.065,  0.097%,  27.26%, 9.02.  C/N ration was 21.80.  These chemical quality indicated biogas sludge can be used as good organic fertilizer. Data on  average plant height, leaf number, canopy biomass and root biomass indicated that   250 ml per day biogas sludge could be an alternative of 2.5 g NPK  as early fertilizer.  The highest yield of five treatments was application of 250 ml biogas sludge with 2.5 g NPK at the beginning of spinach planting to the parameters plant height, canopy biomass and root biomass.  Biogas sludge application on spinach plants in this research gave economic benefits as much as Rp. 205.554; which was obtained every 30 HST and R/C ratio was 2,93 means that every Rp. 1,- costs in spinach planted wil get Rp. 2,93,- revenue

Abstract

This research was conducted in Samosir Island, North Sumatera Province, Indonesia  which has Inceptisol soil. As this type of soil is generally unfertile, since hundreds years ago, local people added ruminant faeces before planting. This research objective was to prove that application of biogas slurry on growing phase of Turi (Sesbania grandiflora) plant improved microbial population on soil thus plant quality.  This research was conducted from May until September 2018.  Research design was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with treatments slurry dosages which were P0: without slurry, P1: 10/ha/year and P2: 20/ha/year. Parameters were chemical composition of slurry, microbial type and population, plant height, total leaf, stem diameter, number of branch and leaf size. The results showed that P0 had no significant effect on every parameters while P1 and P2 improved microbial type and population, plant height, total leaf, stem diameter, number of branch and leaf size (P <0.05). There was an increasing of microbial population in line with the increasing of slurry dosage. P2 contained the highest population of bacteria or fungal (P <0.05) compared to P0 while there was no sicnificant increased compare to P1. Abstract

Cocoa pod is one of the cocoa processing wastes which can be used as animal feed.The study aims to find the use of cocoa pod which fermented by bioactivator (MOIYL) in feedon performance and IOFC of male local sheep. The research was conducted at Pak Didit's farmJl. Bunga Rinte, Simpang Selayang, Medan, in October - December 2018 using completelyrandomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The experiment used 20 ofmale local sheep weaning with initial body weight of 12.65 ± 1 kg. The treatment such as P0(80% field grass + 20% concentrate), P1 (60% field grass + 20% fermented cocoa pod + 20%concentrate), P2 (40% field grass + 40% fermented cocoa pod + 20% concentrate), P3 (20%field grass + 60% fermented cocoa pod + 20% concentrate), P4 (80% fermented cocoa pod +concentrate 20%). The observed of are feeds consumption, average daily gain, feed conversionratio (FCR), and income over feed cost (IOFC).The results of this research indicated that utilization of fermented cocoa pod in feed improvedthe performance of male local sheep with the average consumption of sheep feed (g/head/day):421.62; 422.60; 524.43; 452.83 and 368.56, average daily gain (g/head/day): 59.95; 60.75;84.19; 67.76 and 40.57, and ration conversion: 7.06; 7.17; 6.43; 6.68 and 9.11 and averageIncome Over Feed Cost (IOFC):141.123,8; 142.837,9; 201.301,0; 159.568,4 and 89.273,7. Theconclusion of this study is that the use of cacao pods fermented with 5% MOIYL in ration ofmale local weaning can be given to the level of 40%.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of  utilization of biogas slurry doses with MOL (Micro Local Organisms) Banana Stumps on Turi Productivity (Sesbania grandiflora). This research was conducted in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra starting from May to September  2018. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design with 4 treatment levels of 5 replications, the data analysis used was Duncan's Advanced Test. Treatment with various doses of biogas slurry fertilizer by input of goat faeces which is fermented with MOL (Micro Local Organism), 2 liter MOL banana stem. P0 = 0, P1 = 20, P2 = 40, P3 = 60 (t / h / yr). The variables observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of stems, number of leaves, and leaf width. The results of the study showed that the fermentation of goat's bio-gas slurry fertilizer with various doses of fertilizing gave a significant influence on the parameters of the study, namely plant height, number of stems, number of leaves, and stem diameter. The best response due to fertilization is with a dose of 60 t / h / yr.

Abstract

The main problem with cocoa pod is the high crude fiber content and lowcrude protein. A treatment needed to change the nutritional content, one of which isfermentation. In this study, fermentation used Indigenous microorganisms which wereYL (MOIYL). This research lasted for 3 months which was carried out from July toSeptember 2018 at the Laboratory of Animal Production and the Laboratory of AnimalNutrition Sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. Theresearch design used was Factorial 4 x 4 Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 3replications where factor 1 was the various levels of inoculum of Indigenous YL(MOIYL) and factor 2 was the length of fermentation (incubation) with measuredparameters of crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat, and ash content using proximateanalysis.The results showed that cocoa pod fermentation using Indigenous YL (MOIYL)microorganisms could improve the quality of nutrient content including the highestwater content with a dose of 3% with a 7 day fermentation of 11.75% and the lowestwithout Moiyl with 21 days fermentation time of 10.02%. highest crude protein with 5%dose with 7 days fermentation of 11.89% and the lowest without Moiyl with 28 daysfermentation of 7.18%, highest crude fat at 5% with 7 days fermentation at 1.33% andthe lowest without Moiyl with 28 days fermentation time is 1.22%, while the highestcrude fiber is 5% with 7 days fermentation of 21.3% and the lowest is 5% with 28 daysfermentation of 23.93%, the highest dry matter is 3% with 7 days fermentation timeequal to 88.24% and the lowest without Moiyl with 7 days long 89.95%, highest ashcontent with d osis 1% with a 7 day fermentation time of 9.52% and the lowest ashcontent without Moiyl with a 7 day fermentation time of 11.17%. The results of thisstudy concluded that cocoa pod fermentation using 5% Indigenous YL (MOIYL)microorganisms and 7 days fermentation time could increase water content, crudeprotein, and crude fat, while crude fiber, dry matter, and ash content decreased.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate the influence of rabbitproduction factors on rabbit farmers income in the District of Berastagi Regency ofKaro which include Litter Size, Sum of Wean, Sum of Deaths, Feed Cost and Sum ofLabor; and knowing rabbit business in District of Berastagi Regency of Karo isdeserves to be forwarded. The research method used census method done twice for twomonths to take as many as 48 respondent farmers. Factor analysis was obtained byregression analysis while business feasibility obtained by Revenue Cost Ratio (RatioR/C), Benefit Cost Ratio (Rasio B/C) and Break Event Point (BEP) analysis. Theresults showed that the factor affect rabbit farmers income were Sum of Deaths andSum of Labor. Financial analysis of rabbit farmers were R/C=5,61, B/C=4,24, PriceBEP=Rp 9.875 dan Production BEP=22 pieces. It conclude that the factor affect rabbitfarmers income were Sum of Death and Sum of Labor. Rabbit business is profitableand feasible to conduct.

Abstract

High animal production especially meat is still need to fulfilled as demand is high.This research was conducted to analyze the availability of resources in Serdang BedagaiRegency in the context of cattle developing. The study was conducted from September 2017to January 2018. This study used a survey method, the first stage of stratification (stratifiedsampling) to the sub-districts in Serdang Bedagai Regency, the second stage took purposivesampling in three sub-districts namely Dolok Masihul District, Dolok Merawan and SeiRampah, the third stage was purposively sampling of 10 farmers from each of the subdistricts. The results of this study that livestock resources in Serdang Regency Bedagai stillhave great potential in developing beef cattle business seen from natural resources, humanresources, capital and technology.

Abstract

The research objective was to examine the utilization of bio gas slurry and bio gasslurry enriched with goat?s urine fermented on Indigofera zollingeriana. The experiment wasconducted at the Goat Farm Research Station Sei Putih, Galang, North Sumatera, from Marchuntil August 2015 using 24 plants of Indigofera zollingeriana. Design experiment was usedsplit plot design where main plots were different dosages of fertilizer, i.e. R1 (75), R2 (150)and R3 (225) ml/plot with four replications. The sub plots were types of fertilizer, i.e. slurry(P1) and slurry and goat?s urine fermented (P2). The research parameters were plant height,leaf production and chemical compositions (rough fat, NDF and ADF).The results showed that dosage fertilizer application of gas slurry and bio gas slurry enrichedwith goat urine fermented was not significantly different to plant height, leaf production andcrude lipid. There was no significantly different on plant height between types of fertilizer, i.e.bio gas slurry and bio gas slurry enriched with goat?s urine fermented. There weresignificantly different (P<0,05) between types of fertilizer, i.e. bio gas slurry and bio gas slurryenriched with goat?s urine fermented on leaf production and chemical compositions. It isconclude that utilization of bio gas slurry enriched with goat?s urine fermented increaseproductivity of Indigofera zolingeriana.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of buffalo and goat manure on the growthof Indigofera zollingeriana plants. This research was carried out in Parlondut Village,Pangururan Subdistrict, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra from March to May 2018.The design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design with 4 replications.P0 = Buffalo Cage Fertilizer 25% + 75% Top Soil Soil, P1 = Buffalo Cage Fertilizer50% + 50% Top Soil Soil, P2 = Buffalo Cage Fertilizer 75% + 25% Top Soil Soil, P3 =25% Goat Cage Fertilizer + 75% Top Soil Soil, P4 = Goat Cage Fertilizer 50% + 50%Top Soil Soil and P5 = Goat Cage Fertilizer 75% + 25% Top Soil Soil. The variablesobserved were plant height, number of leaves, number of stems, stem diameter and leafwidth. The results showed that the application of manure from goats had a significanteffect on the parameters of the study, namely plant height, number of leaves, number ofbranches and stem diameter. In conclusion, the increasing dosage of fertilization withgoat manure on Indigofera zollingeriana plants, the results are getting better.

Abstract

DORA VILLA MANIK, 2018. "Effectiveness of Gambir Solution(UncariagambirRoxb) on the Performances of Broiler Chickens Infected byEscherichia coli".Supervised by MA'RUF TAFSIN and ARMYN HAKIMDAULAY.Gambir has the potential as an antibacterial which is traditionally used as a drugfor diarrhea. This study examines the effectiveness of gambir solution onperformance which includes feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversionand income over feed cost (IOFC) in broiler chickens infected with E. coli. It washeld in November - December 2017 at the Laboratory of Biology, AnimalHusbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera Utara,using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications.The treatment consisted of P0A = without infection and without treatment, P0B =infection with E. coli and P1, P2, P3, respectively E. coli infection + Gambirsolution 2%, 4%, 6% and P4 = E. coli + infection Tetracycline antibiotics. Theresults showed that the administration of gambir solution at a dose of 2% - 6% wassignificantly (P<0.05) effective in improving the performances of broiler chickensinfected with E.coli and able to compensate for the use of commercial antibioticsin the form of tetracycline. The highest IOFC is in the 4% gambir solution.Keywords: Gambir, Escherichia coli, and broiler performance.
