Abstract

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Houtt) is a medicinal plant that produces essential oils and is often used as a flavoring of food and medicine. The process of extracting essential oils from the nutmeg fruit pulp using the steam-water distillation method. The yield of essential oil obtained at 0.07765%, with a pale yellow color, the distinctive smell of nutmeg oil with a refractive index of 1.485, and a specific gravity of 0.909 g / mL and soluble in ethanol. The results of GC-MS identification showed that the essential oil of nutmeg fruit flesh contains five components, the main compound is myristicin (18.44%), ?-pinene (14.2%), limonene (9.37%), ?-terpinene (7.98%) and terpinolene (7.66%). Based on the test results of anti-inflammatory activity, the value of the percentage of red blood cell stability optimum mounting to 80.21% at a concentration of 10 ug / mL, where the standard aspirin has an activity of 72.26%. These results indicate that the meat nutmeg essential oil is potential as anti-inflammatory agents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze: 1) the development of tourism in Jambi Province, especially foreign tourist visits; 2) factors that influence foreign tourist visits to Jambi Province, especially in Kerinci District and Muaro Jambi Regency. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Primary data comes from tourism stakeholder key informants and foreign tourist respondents. The main secondary data was sourced from the Jambi Province Culture and Tourism Agency, Kerinci Regency and Muaro Jambi Regency. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the study found: 1) Jambi Province with its natural beauty and cultural diversity and historical heritage has not shown a relatively high development in terms of tourist visits to Jambi Province, especially foreign tourists; 2) The lack of foreign tourist visits to Jambi Province is caused by the lack of tourism information available on the Jambi tourism website, so that the limited information obtained by foreign tourists for their trips. The poor tourism support infrastructure in Jambi Province and the lack of reliable and certified guides in Jambi Province.

Abstract

This study was aimed to this study was conducted to determine the number of sustainable fishing and the total allowable catches in the waters of Pasuruan, East Java: to know the status of fishery resources utilization, and to construct management strategis for fishery resources management in the waters of Pasuruan, East Java. Calculation of Maximum Sustainable Yiled (MSY) and the Total Allowable Catch (JTB) applied by Schaefer and fox methods. The result showed that MSY calculation models fox  was 9419.86 tonnes, which JTB was 7535.89. The level of fisheries utilization in the waters of Pasuruan, East Java, categorizeas overexploited. Most respondent in the FGD activity (81.74%) agree that strategies of fisheries resources utilization in the waters of Pasuruan, East Java was the strategy of fishing operation based on fishing ground fishing season.

Abstract

 Terumbu karang tepi di Pulau Mandangin tersusun substrat biotik dan abiotik dengan kedalaman tidak lebih dari 40 m. Pulau Mandangin adalah pulau kecil yang memiliki komposisi substrat dasar seperti terumbu karang dan perairannya yaitu zona leeward dan zona windward. Zona leeward adalah sisi yang membelakangi arah datangnya angin, sedangkan zona windward adalah sisi yang menghadap arah datangnya angin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi penyusun terumbu karang tepi (fringing reef) dan mengetahui perbedaan komposisi penyusun terumbu karang tepi (fringing reef) antara zona leeward dan zona windward di Pulau Mandangin. Metode yang digunakan adalah Line Intercept Transect (LIT) secara vertikal, LIT dimulai dari surut terendah sampai daerah reef slope dan dilakukan pencatatan semua jenis substrat yang dibawah garis transek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan zona fringing reef yang mengelilingi Pulau Mandangin tersusun atas substrat rubble, sand, alga, rock, dead coral, dead coral with algae, sponge, coral massive dan coral submassive. Zona leeward lebih bervariasi dari zona windward dalam susunan fringing reef. Hal ini karena angin yang terjadi di zona windward lebih besar dari zona leeward, sehingga substrat di zona windward hanya rubble dan sand.  Fringing reef in Mandangin Island comprises of biotic and abiotic substrates in depth not more than 40 m. Mandangin Island is a small island with base substrate composition mostly involving coral reef. The waters include leeward and windward zones. Leeward zone is paralleling with wind incoming direction, whereas windward zone is facing on wind incoming direction. The objective of research is to understand the composition that constitutes fringing reef and to recognize different constitutive composition of fringing reef at leeward zone and windward zone in Mandangin Island. Method of research is Line Intercept Transect (LIT) that is applied vertically. LIT starts from the lowest ebb toward the reef slope zone, and it involves registering all substrate types below transect line. Result of research indicates that fringing zone surrounding Mandangin Island consists of various substrates such as rubble, sand, alga, rock, dead coral, dead coral with algae, sponge, coral massive and coral sub-massive. Leeward zone is more diversified in fringing reef composition than windward zone. It is evident because wind occurrence at windward zone is higher than at leeward zone, and thus, substrates at windward zone include only rubble and sand.

Abstract

Latar belakang.Diare yang disebabkan oleh infeksi rotavirus merupakan penyebab diare terbanyak yang terjadi pada anak dengan usia di bawah 2 tahun. Manifestasi klinis antara lain diare cair (watery diarrhea),demam, muntah, dan intoleransi terhadap laktosa. Di negara sedang berkembang, angka kesakitan dan angka kematian masih tinggi.Tujuan. Mengetahui karakteristik, gejala klinis, dan lama rawat pasien diare rotavirus.Metode. Studi deskriptif dilakukan retrospektif dari data rekam medis pasien usia di bawah 2 tahun, yang didiagnosis dengan diare rotavirus pada pemeriksaan imunokromatografi. Dirawat di bangsal anak RS Dr. Pirngadi Medan, 18 Juni – 24 September 2007. Hasil. Di antara 96 kasus gastroenteritis akut atau diare, rotavirus dijumpai pada 58 kasus (60,4%). Satu kasus (1,7%) bayi usia di bawah 3 bulan, dan 57 kasus (98,3%) usia di atas 3 bulan, laki-laki 37 (63,8%), dan perempuan 21 (36,2%). Diare dengan dehidrasi ringan-sedang dijumpai pada 55 kasus (94.8%) diare dengan dehidrasi berat 2 kasus (3,4%), dan diare tanpa dehidrasi 1 kasus (1,7%). Limapuluh persen kasus rata-rata dirawat selama 3-5 hari dan 3 (5,2%) kasus dirawat lebih dari 7 hari.Kesimpulan. Diare rotavirus merupakan penyebab diare terbanyak pada anak di bawah usia 2 tahun, 57 kasus (98,3%) ditemukan pada usia di atas 3 bulan. Di samping diare cair, dijumpai muntah, demam, batuk, dan pilek. Lama rawat 3-5 hari dijumpai pada 50% kasus, dan tidak ada kematian.

Abstract

Kondang Merak was lied on south of Java sea that has monitored coral reef inside. Environment condition such as load of terrestrial’s nutrient into the sea, increase of surface water temperature and tourism activities were affected on coral reef health. The massive Porites that common coral found in this location need be monitored gradually to see coral condition over time. The research was conducted on May 2015 in reef flat area of Kondang Merak. The aims of the research were to know distribution of massive Porites and oceanography condition in Kondang Merak. The highest sea surface temperature was 26,46o C in transect number 2 at station 1 (eastern part). Salinity of sea water was in normal range between 34, 42o/oo to 35,75o/oo, dissolved oxygen was on range 6 mg/l sampai 9,1 mg/l and pH was 7,23 sampai 8,68 respectively. Two species on massive Porites they were Porites lobata dan P. lutea. In station 1 the average diameter of P. lobata was 228.57 cm and P. lutea 63.89 cm, in while P. lobata in station 2 was 260.57 cm and P. lutea 153.56 cm.

Abstract

Lack of knowledge and information about fisheries activities, particularly the importance of sustainable management for marine fisheries (catching) is the underlying reason why fish resource potential has yet been managed and utilized well. The study is conducted to determine the number of sustainable fishing and the total allowable catches in Pasuruan, East Java. It also aims at describing status of fishery resources utilization and developing strategies for fishery resources management in Pasuruan, East Java. Walter-hilbron method is used to analyze model prediction of the stock and the status of fisheries utilization. Schaefer and Fox methods are used to calculate Maximum Sustainable Yiled (MSY) and Total Allowable Catch (TAC). The analysis was applied using fisheries data from 2004 to 2014. The strategies being developed and analysis towards importance of the strategy are analyzed using Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Based on Fox model, the MSY is 9,419.86 tons and TAC is 7,535.89. Based on the data, fisheries utilization in Pasuruan, East Java is categorized as overexploited. Most respondents in the Focus Group Discussion (81.74%) agree that strategies of fisheries resources utilization in Pasuruan, East Java is the suitable strategy for fishing ground-based fishing operation as well as  fishing season management.Keywords: management strategies, overfishing, sustainability, the status of utilization

Abstract

The main problem in Anguilla bicolor nursery is the low productivity and survival rate (SR) caused by poor water quality and low digestibility of feed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the application of probiotic and fermented feed on A. bicolor nursery from stadia elver to fingerling. In this study, one treatment of probiotic and fermented feed and one control without supplementation of probiotic and fermented feed were applied. Probiotic of 5 mL/m3 for every three days and fermented feed with protein of 42% were administered for 4 months. The results showed that survival rate of 93% and specific growth rate of 2.82%/day were obtained in the treatment of probiotic and fermented feed while survival rate of 81% and specific growth rate of 2.76% were produced in control tank. Feed conversion ratio and total production in treatment tank were 1.8 and 18.01 kg, respectively. On the other hand, feed conversion ratio and total production in control tank were 2.3 and 14.68 kg, respectively. It can be concluded that probiotic and fermented feed application were able to improve the productivity of A. bicolor.

AbstractThe performance assessment is to determine the degree of the quality of students in physical education based onthe curriculum ; material, defined indicator of the performance of students . therefore, in order to collect evidence oflearning and learning outcomes of students in physical education at school then the task is carried out by physicaleducation teachers with due regard to the principles of critical appraisal is accurate , economical , and encouragequality teaching physical education. Accurate means the results of the assessment contains an error as small aspossible , and economically meaningful assessment system is easy to do and inexpensive .
