Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of students to use length measuring instruments at the State High School 7 Banda Aceh. This type of research was descriptive with a qualitative approach. The population in this study were all students of class X in State High School 7 Banda Aceh. The sampling technique in this study uses random sampling. The samples taken in this study were students from class X which totaled 5 classes, each class was taken 5 students who were randomly selected as samples. Data collection techniques by providing multiple choice tests of 10 questions and skills tests. Data collection techniques used were knowledge tests in the form of objective tests in the form of multiple choice and skills tests. The technique in data processing uses percentages to get the results of this study. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the ability of students' knowledge to use length measuring instruments by 60% and to use the calipers by 55%. While knowledge on screw micrometers by 72% and skills using screw micrometers by 63%. So it can be concluded that the grade X students of State High School 7 Banda Aceh had pretty good knowledge and skills in using calipers, while the knowledge and skills of students on the micrometer screw was good. Keywords: basic length measuring, physics education, instruments

Abstract

Retention was one of internal factors that influenced learning success. The low level of student retention needed tobe a concern of teachers and educational institutions. This study aimed to determine the differences in student retention abilities from the retest results between experimental class who were taught using a multi-representation based module and the control class students who were taught using textbooks on Black principle material. The approach used in this research was a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. Data collection was done by tests using multiple choice questions. Purposive sampling used to select the samples, the sample in this study were 22 students of class XI MIA I as a control class and 22 students of class XI MIA II as an experimental class. Based on the results of data analysis, the retention score of the two classes in an interval of one week was excellent, but the experimental class students achieved higher score than the control class students with a difference of 4.42%. Hypothesis test results obtained tcount (1.71) ttable (1.68), mean reject Ho and accept Ha, which means that the retention score of experimental class students was better than the retention score of control class students.Keyword: Multi representation-based module, textbooks, student retention.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of the Physics Problem Solving Exercise by using the "Minnesota Strategy" Problem Solving Model to improve Student Learning Outcomes and Critical Thinking Abilities in SMA 3 Seunagan. The approach used is a quantitative approach in the form of experimental research. Then the data is analyzed using N-gain and t-test. Hypothesis testing used by one-party test that is the right hand side, with criteria accepted by H1 if tcount ttable and H1 is rejected if tcount ? ttable. Hypothesis test results obtained for student learning outcomes data tcount = 4.18 and ttable = 1.68 and for critical thinking data tcount = 5.09 and ttable = 1.68 then it can be concluded tcount ttable, in other words H1 accepted. The conclusion of this research is that there is an influence on the use of Physics Problem Solving Exercises by using the "Minnesota Strategy" Problem Solving Model to improve Student Learning Outcomes and Critical Thinking Ability.Keywords: Minnesota Strategy, Learning Outcomes, critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to produce products namely guided inquiry-based LKPD on straight-motion material, knowing that LKPD is feasible to be used as a tool to help students learn, and knowing teacher and student responses to guided inquiry-based LKPD. This research uses the Research and Development (R D) method with the ADDIE model. The research subjects were 2 expert lecturers to validate guided inquiry-based LKPD, 17 SMP Negeri 3 Lhoknga students, and 2 Physics teachers. Data collection techniques were obtained from teacher interviews, LKP validation sheets, through student questionnaires, and teacher questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative. The results of data analysis showed that guided inquiry-based LKPD validation on straight-motion material "was feasible" in the systematic preparation. LKPD can be used by students as student learning aids. Student responses to guided inquiry-based LKPD obtained a percentage of 85% of students giving agreed responses to LKPD. And the teacher's response to this LKPD was 88%. Based on the results of the research conducted, guided inquiry-based LKPD can already be used in the learning process in the classroom.

Abstract

The results of previous studies show that students of Physics Education (S1 and S2), FKIP Syiah Kuala University more than 50% do not understand the programs and roadmap of Pilar ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community as a part of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The inference of those results to the implementation of learning physics and science education system needs to be implemented through a link and match learning model that can improve the ability to think critically and creatively, and students need to be trained to be problem solvers, not the problem makers.Based on these problems, through this research has been applied physics learning by using Problem Solving strategies on 25 students of Master of Physical Education and Science. At the end of the implementation study measured the ability of students to apply problem-solving strategies in accordance with Answer Sections of Problem Solving adopted from previous research. The results showed that the majority of students (78%) are able to implement the stage I (Focus on Problem) with a complete, almost all respondents (91%) was only able to implement the stage II (Describe the Physics) of about 40%, almost all respondents (91% ) can apply for the stage III (Plan The Solution) approximately 80% of all respondents have been able to implement the stage IV (Excute the Plan) perfectly, and all respondents have been able to apply the stage V (Evaluate the Answer) completely. It is expected that all staff of teaching Science materials (Physics), they are recommended strongly to implement Problem Solving as an alternative strategy for preparing students to face global competition in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

Abstract

The identification of misconception in the Physics or Science learning all this time mostly used the two-tier or three-tier diagnostic test. There were several reasons why both test forms used, such as to make sure whether the students guessed the answers or understood the concepts. Besides, through the use of both tests the students confidence in choosing the answers could be identified. However, there was no explanation or study on the most effective test to identify those misconceptions. The purpose of this study was to know the effect of the one-tier, two-tier and three-tier diagnostics test toward the students answer pattern, confidence level, and understanding on the concept of anatomic nuclear. The respondents which were used in this survey research were 88 the students attending Atomic Nuclear course in Physics Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University. Some tests were consecutively given to the 88 respondents, the test participants could continue to the next test if they finished all questions in the previous test. The data collection used the instrument of basic Physics preconception test (Tes Pemahaman Konsep Fisika Inti/TPKFI) in the form of one-tier, two-tier and three-tier multiple choice with eight multiple choice items. The test was developed by researchers with difficulty index = 0.35, discrimination index = 0.31, validity= 0.35, and reliability= 0.90. The data analysis result showed that even though the students answer patterns were the same for all types of diagnostic tests, there was a convincing change in the students concept understanding and confidence between the two-tier and three-tier. From this research, it could be inferred that the identification of the students misconception in the Science learning would be better (had high confidence), if the diagnostic test used was higher, that was three-tier, four-tier, and thus on.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the module that have been developed to improve the student's interest in learning, the advantages and disadvantages of the module, and the implementation of module for learning. The method of this research is Research and Development. The research population is science students class X in Senior High School 1 Peusangan, and sample group which determined by random technique is science student class X-1. The collected data are data of module assessment by teaching materials expert; media expert; and the teacher, data of student interest before and after learning with module, student?s response about the module, and teacher interview. The research instruments are the module assessment sheet for teaching materials expert; media expert; and the teacher, the student?s interest in learning questionnaire, questionnaire for student response, and the interview guidelines for teacher. The module effectiveness is determined with statistical test t correlated to average gain student interest before and after learning with module. The results showed significance difference between students' interest before and after is 41.30 % and students? positive response about module is 73.43%. Analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the module is obtained that module can create active learning for students with a scientific approach, but the participation of the teacher and completely facilities determine the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of inquiry-based virtual lab laboratiorium to increase student motivation and creativity of students in simple harmonic motion of matter. The method used is the method of the control experiment with the design of the control group pre-test post-test. The study population was all students of class XI-IA, amounting to 180 people, and that the sample is class XI-4 as an experimental class IA and class XI-IA 1 as grade control at the school SMAN 5 Banda Aceh 2013/2014 school year. Data was collected using a form of written test of 20 multiple choice questions about done with the pre-test and post-test, student worksheets and questionnaires motivation and creativity of the student questionnaire. The results showed that the learning is done by using inquiry-based virtual lab laboaratorium. With the practical implementation of inquiry-based virtual laboratory has demonstrated that increasing students creativity in the material simple harmonic motion with mastery of concepts that are at 76.7% category and 23.3% higher category, the practical implementation of inquiry-based virtual laboratory can an increase student motivation in simple harmonic motion of matter. With the mastery of concepts that berkategorikan being, as well as 66% of student motivation is high enough and the remaining 34% is very high motivation.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa, aktivitas guru dan siswa, kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran dan respon siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran generatif.Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dan pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan statistik deskriptif.Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi kelas IX.4 SMPN 8 Banda Aceh tahun ajaran 2016/2017 yang berjumlah 21 orang.Instrumen pengumpul data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes dan non tes.Instrumen tes dalam bentuk soal pretest dan posttest, sedangkan instrument non tes dalam bentuk lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa, lembar kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran dan angket respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran.Keempat instrument non tes tersebut dianalisis menggunakan teknik persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa secara individual dari 57% menjadi 89% dan ketuntasan klasikal juga meningkat dari 60% sampai mencapai 87,5%. Peningkatan juga terjadi pada aktivitas guru dan siswa.Kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran meningkat dari kategori baik menjadi sangat baik.Selain itu, respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran juga sangat baik sekali dimana 90% siswa menyatakan senang terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran generatif dengan menggunakan laboratorium virtual. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran generatif dengan menggunakan laboratorium virtual dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, meningkatkan aktivitas guru dan siswa, meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran pada materi listrik dinamis.Kata kunci: model pembelajaran generatif, virtual laboratorium, hasil belajar AbstractThis study aims to find out the result of  student learning, teacher and student activity, the ability of teachers in managing learning and students response to the application of the generative learning model. This research is a type of class action (PTK) and the approach used in this research is descriptive statistical approach. The subjects of study  were students of class IX.4 SMPN 8 Banda Aceh the school year 2016/2017 totaling 21 people. Data collection instruments used in this study is a test and non test. Test instruments in the form of matter pretest and posttest, whereas the non-test instrument in the form of sheets of teacher and student activity observation, sheets teachers ability in managing  learning and sheet of student responses of learning. The fourth non-test instrument are analyzed using percentages. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes on an individual basis from 57% to 89% and classical completeness also increased from 60% to reach 87.5%. The increase also occurred in the activities of teachers and students. The ability of teachers in managing learning increases from good to be excellent category. In addition, the students response to learning is also very well where 90% of students said he was happy of generative learning model application using the virtual laboratory. Based on this research can be concluded that the application of the generative learning model by using virtual labs can improve student learning results, increasing the activity of teachers and students, increasing the teachers ability in managing learning in a dynamic electrical lesson.Keywords: generative learning model, virtual labs, learning results
