Abstract

Breeding Value is an evaluation of the quality of animal genetics for a certain character which isgiven relatively based on its position in population. This study aimed to determine the value ofheritability and repeatability of weaning weight of Kacang goats, to determine the weaning weightand the breeding value of each individual mather do, and to determine the individual mather dowhich had the highest breeding value of weaning weight. This study used survey method to obtainthe subject matters, which comprised 30 female parentstock which had recording of litter age,pedigree of males, and kids of female samples which had recording of birth weight, type of birth,type of maintenance, and weaning weight of the first and the second birth.The result of this study showed that the average of corrected weaning weight was 9,574±0,97 kg;the heritability value of weaning weight was 0,011±0,000; the repeatability of weaning weight was0,061; the average of breeding value of weaning weight was 9,613±0,02. Based on the result ofthis study, it was known that 19 (51%) of 30 female parentstock of Kacang goats had breedingvalue over the average, and 5 female parentstock with the highest breeding value of weaningweight were prioritized, they were female parentstock with codes D1 with breeding value was9,673; N1 was 9,633; H1 was 9,629; I1 was 9,629; S1 was 9,628 in the study location.

Abstract

This research was conducted to know yearling weight and yearling body measurements of Boerawa grade 1 (G1) from some bucks, to estimate heritability, and to estimate breeding value (BV) of yearling weight and yearling body measurements of Boer bucks. Fifty tails Boerawa G1 from 5 tails Boer bucks was used as research sample decided by purposive sampling. Survey method was done in this research located at Sumberejo subdistrict began August up to September, 2015. Variables observed were yearling weight and yearling body measurements. The body measurements consist of circumference of chest, body length, and shoulder height. Yearling weight and yearling body measurements were adjusted to yearling weight and yearling body measurements corrected. The data corrected was used to estimate heritability of Boerawa G1 and to estimate Breeding Value of each Boer bucks. Result of this research indicated that the average of yearling weight 33,78 ± 1,19 kg, yearling circumference of chest 68,28 ± 3,20 cm, yearling body length 63,73 ± 2,17cm, and yearling shoulder height 63,72 ± 2,96 cm. Heritability of yearling weight 0,19 ± 0,40, yearling circumference of chest 0; 0,15 ± 0,38, yearling body length 0,20 ± 0,41; yearling shoulder height 0,17 ± 0,39. Breeding value of Bursan buck for yearling weight 34,06 kg, yearling circumference of chest 69,10 cm, yearling body length 64,02 cm, and yearling shoulder height 64,42 cm. The breeding value of Bursan buck was highest. It could be concluded that Bursan buck was the best Boer buck. Abstract

Estimated Real Producing Ability (ERPA) value are maximally estimated of the ability of mother doe, which is allegedly based onexisting perfomans. Producing ability for production capability of an animal which is closelyrelated with the value of Repeatability, the average production, many production records, and the averageproduction within a population. Calculations of ERPA are entering information such asthe average mother inkidbirth production which compared with the average of herdmate production. Herdmate are all parents within thesame farm, who had kidbirth in the same relative time, but not the half? brother of a father.The research was conducted on May 2013 until June 2013 in Sungai Langka village, Subdistrict Gedong Tataan,Pesawaran District. This research using a survey method by analyzing production records the birth of the first andsecond of the 30 samples of doe Etawah crossbreed. Analysis was performed by searching for weaning weightcorrected, the estimated value Repeatability and the value of ERPA weaning weight in Margarini farmer groupsgoat.The result said that the average of corection weaning weight PE goat is 19,48±1,47 kg. The value of repeatabilityweaning weight PE Goat gotten in the research is 0,57 and the average of value ERPA weaning weight PE goat is19,84±1,067 kg. Base on the result of research known 20 of 30 goat (66,6 %) mother doe PE has ERPA above ofaverage.

Abstract

Breeding Value (BV) is an evaluation of the quality of animal genetics for a certain character which isgiven relatively based on it?s position in population. This study aimed to determine the value ofweaning weight, heritability, ripitability, and BV of each individu of Boerawa goat, and to determinethe females which had the highest BV of weaning weight.The study was held in February-March 2013 in District of Gisting, Regency of Tanggamus. Themethod used in this study was survey method with 40 samples of parentstock which had record ofbreeding age at birth, pedigree of males, and goatling of female samples which had recording of birthweight, type of birth, type of maintenance, and weaning weight of the first and the second birth.Heritability was counted based on method of step brother of 1 father and ripitability was counted basedon method of corelation of interclass.Based on the study result, the averages of corrected weaning weight, value of heritability, andripitability of weaning weight, and BV of Boerawa goat in a row were 25,706±1,908 kg; 0,072±0,006(lowest category); 0,335 (medium category); 26,273±0,205 kg. Besides, there were 22 (55%) of 40Boerawa goat parentstock which had BV above the average. There were 5 parentstock with the highestBV of weaning weight, they were female goat parentstock with codes O1 (26,273), F1 (26,179), D2(25,955), H3 (25,934), and R2 (25,902).

Abstract

Selection on growth pre weaning addition can improve the growth of livestock post weaningconcerned can boost growth. Post weaning growth due to selection on growth pre weaningexpressed as a correlated response to selection caused by a genetic correlation between the natureof the growth. The aim of this study to determine the genetic correlation between growth preweaning and post weaning Peranakan Etawah goats (PE) in the village Sungailangka, DistrictGedongtataan, Pesawaran District, Lampung Province. Research conducted the survey methodsand explore secondary data is a record growth of 40 breeding goats and 40 tai female kids,regardless of the delivery period, the Group Livestock Margarini VI. Data recording are used tocalculate the corrected weaning weight and the entire year. Parent group then used to calculategrowth pre weaning and post weaning parent. Records used to calculate kidd and the entire yearcorrected weaning weight, then used to calculate growth pre weaning and post weaning kids. Datagrowth pre weanig and post weaning parent and kidds is used to estimate the heritability of growthpre and post weaning. Genetic correlations between growth pre and post weaning analyzed withregression methods to parent kidds. Results of this study showed that the estimated geneticcorrelation between growth pre and post weaning of 0.9968 ± 0.0002 thus included in the categoryof high positive.

Abstract

The Most Probable Producing Ability (MPPA) value is a maximum estimation of doe Etawahcrossbred reproduction ability. The objective of this research was to find out the differences of MPPAof Etawah goat breeding between South Metro and West Metro sub districts. This was a surveyresearch method to obtain research materials from 30 doe Etawah crossbred in each sub district thathad same age records when they gave birth their kid, and records of kid from their doe Etawahcrossbred samples including birth weight, type of birth, type of raising, body weight at weaning. Theresults showed that the difference values obtained between South Metro and West Metro were2.48±0.06 kg and 2.55±0.07 kg respectively for average birth weights; 20.18±0.64 kg and 21.10±0.85kg respectively for corrected weaning body weight; 0.49 : 0.37 respectively for repeatability value ofweaning body weight; 20.18±0.42 and 21.10±0.46 for average value of MPPA of weaning bodyweight respectively. The t-student test results showed that the values of corrected body weight andMPPA of Etawah crossbred in this research were the same (P?0.05).

Abstract

This research was conducted using a survey method in Campang Vilage, District Gisting, Tanggamus conducted inJune 2012. Parameters observed in this study that the characteristic of livestock (hair color, face shape and earlength) and body size (body weight, chest circumference, body length and shoulder height).Goat Boerawa G1 andG2 samples each 60 tail. Qualitative data on the characteristic analyzed with descriptive analyzed, while quantitativedata were analyzed by T-test to determine the difference between G1 and G2 of each variable. Result of this studyindicate that the shape of the face goat G2 Boerawa flat and thick. The average length of ear G1 and G2 21,13 cm19,65 cm. Chest girth, body length and body weight Boerawa male goat G2 greater than G1: average chestcircumference 78,15> <71,97 cm body length of 66,14> <63,90cm; weight 41,45> <34,85 kg, while the shoulderheight G2 is lower than G1 the 65,77> <71,16cm.

Abstract

Doe productivity index (DPI) on wean weight refers to doe capability to wean kid in specificweight per year. So it?s parameter could be used as selection tool to find the best doe as maternalresource. On that purpose, record of 30 PE doe in Dadapan Village, Sumberejo SubdistrictTanggamus Municipal, Lampung Province, were evaluated to determine doe productivity index.Evaluation were done in October-November 2013, which are included data ; Doe age. Kid bornweight, Type of offcpring, and corrected weaning weight. Parameters involved are: average weanweight (AWW), most probable producing ability (MPPA), reproduction efficiency (RE), and doeproductivity index (DPI), respectively.Data calculation show that AWW (kg), MPPA (kg), RE (%), and DPI (kg) are: 22,75±1,94 kg;22,75±0,15 kg; 94,78±8,80%, and 21,56±1,97 kg, respectively. On the other side, the best five DPIwere resulted by doe Q1 (26,66 kg), H1 (26,52 kg), O2 (24,23 kg), J1 (24,06 kg), and A1 (24,03kg). Based on the result, it concluded that those five doe could be used as main maternal resources inDadapan Village, Sumberejo Subdistrict Tanggamus Municipal, Lampung Province.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of concentrate and amonium zeolite supplementation inration to the body weight gain of Boerawa goats. Fifteen Boerawa goats of 6?7 months old, withaverage initial body weight of 15,11 ± 4,44 kg/goat, were used in this experiment. This study usedRandomized Block Design with 3 treatments. The treatments were R0: ration of farmers, R1:ration of farmers 30% + concentrate 70%, and R2: R1 + amoniated zeolite 5% of ration dry matterof R1 with five replications. The water during this experiment was given ad libitum. The result ofthis study showed that the treatments of addition of concentrate without zeolite amoniated (R1)and addition of concentrate and zeolite amoniated R2 increased the body weight gain (P<0,05)compared with the treatments only addition of silage of cassava trunk and leaves (R0). However,the treatment of R2 showed the same result with R1 on the value of the body weight gain (P>0,05)of Boerawa goats. Besides, on the treatment R1 and R2 decreased the consumption of rude proteincompared with only R0 (P<0,01). However, on the treatment of R2 and R1 could increase theratio of protein efficiency which caused the increase of body weight heavier compared with R0 ofBoerawa goats (P<0,01).

Abstract

Parent Productivity Index (IPP) is a picture of the ability of a parent to care for and raise theirchildren until the age of weaning until they reach a certain weaning weight within one year.Research purposes to determine the value of the parent group IPP Etawa Cross breed goats (PE)and determine the five male parent with IPP best value in the South Metro District, City Metro,Lampung Province.Survey method used in this study with a case study in the District of South Metro, Metro City. Thedata used are secondary data taken from the records of 40 breeding goats that had given birthtwice. The experiment was conducted on 20 October to 25 November 2012. Parameters observedin this study were aged mother at delivery, birth spacing, the number of children per birth parentgroup, birth weight and weaning, weaning age, sex, type of birth, and type of maintenance goatgroup.The results showed that the average weaning weight declined from 21.00 ± 1.05 kg, range 9.2 ±0.40 months of birth, number of children per birth tailed 1.83 ± 0.26, and 50.58 ± IPP values 8.76.IPP goat with the best value in a row C2 61.16; F2 59.79; G3 59.70; E2 59.29; I4 59.29. Based onthe results of this study suggested the goat breeders in the South Metro District 5 to give priority tothe goat breeders and other goat mother with IPP score above the average (21 of 40 head or52.5%) to be maintained in order to grown in population and get rid of the parent-parent with alow IPP score (14 out of 40 head or 35%).
