Abstract

Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) is one of the important exported commodities in Indonesia. Indonesia is one of top five major vanilla exporters in the world, that produce the high quality of Indonesian vanilla with high vanillin content (2.75%). The aims of this research were to determine the effects of dose binukleat Rhizoctonia (BNR) and phosphorus as well as the interaction of the nitrate reductase activity (NRA) and chlorophyll of the vanilla seedling (Vanilla planifolia Andrew). Method in this research used completely randomized factorial design, by involving two factors (dose of BNR inoculation and Phosphor). The first factor is without inoculation and inoculation BNR (M0, M1, M2, M3) wich consists of (0,5, 10, 15) g/polybag, the second factor is the dose of phosphorus fertilizer (P0, P1, P2, P3) which consists of (0, 3, 6, 9) g/polibag. The results showed that the inoculation dose of BNR and doses of phosphorus not significant and lower levels of NRA and chlorophyll while the interaction dose of BNR and phosphorus significantly and increase levels of NRA and chlorophyll of vanilla seedling. Abstract

Potato microtubers are the miniature of conventional seed tubers grown in the field. Producing potato microtuber in vitro at high temperature by applying many kinds of tuber promoting substances is similar to producing potato in the field at low elevation by applying the same tuber promoting substances. The objective of this research was to evaluate the performance of seven tuber promoters in inducing potato microtubers at high temperatures. Micro cuttings (6 weeks old) were grown at the liquid media of MS for stolon induction. Six weeks afterward, the media were moved to microtuber inducing media supplemented with tuber promoters ((FD, FD+10 COU, FD+20 COU, FD+30 COU, FD+40 COU, FD+50 COU, and IPB). The media were incubated in the dark at 20 + 2oC and 29 + 2oC. The results showed that, in general, high temperature inhibited crop growth and tuber formation. Individually, tuber promoter formula significantly affected microtuber emergence, in which IPB showed the slowest treatment in producing microtubers, the smallest number of tuber produced, and the smallest size of tubers. The interaction between temperature and tuber promoters were significantly affected the tuber formation, in which the fastest tuber formation (7,0 days ) was found in FD + 40 COU and the highest  percentage of plant producing tubers was found in FD + 30 COU. Moreover, the highest number of microtuber and the heaviest weight of microtuber were found in FD (no Coumarin). It was safely concluded that all tuber promoters were best performed at low temperature. Should anyone wish to make those tuber promoters work better at high temperature, it is recommended to increase the concentration of Coumarin added to the formula of tuber promoting substances.

Abstract

Cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea) are one of the vegetables that are widely cultivated by farmers in Indonesia, both in the highlands and lowlands. Cabbage plants are usually cultivated at the beginning of the dry season. Cabbage has high production potential and its marketing is relatively easy. So that it is right if the cabbage is prioritized as one of the leaf vegetable plants that needs to be further developed. Cabbage production in the last six years shows a trend of fluctuations every year. Production in 2012 increased by 0.14% to 7,550,021 tons from 7,539,533 tons, then increased by 1.95% to 7,469,013 tons in 2013, and decreased 3.06% to 7,461,697 tons in 2014, then in 2015 it decreased 2.62% to 7,265,840 tons, then in 2016 the production increased to 7,274,126 tons and subsequently in 2017 it increased 2.64%. Fluctuations in cabbage production are inseparable from the effect of an increase or decrease in the area of harvest and the attack of plant pests. The aim of this study was to determine the most effective concentration of the active ingredient of Permethrin 300 g/l to control Plutella xylostella L caterpillar pest in cabbage plants. This research was conducted in Sudimoro Village, Teras Subdistrict, Boyolali Regency at an altitude of 196 m above sea level with alluvial brown soil types, with soil solum thickness > 90 cm. Based on the Oldeman classification, Sudimoro Village is a D3 zone, with a wet month length of 3-4 months and a dry month length of 3-6 months. The method used in the study was a non factorial Complete Group Randomized Design (RAKL) with 5 (five) different concentrations of insecticide treatments. The concentration treatments used were 1 cc/ liters (C1), 0.75 cc/ liters (C2), 0.5 cc/ liters (C3), 0.25 cc/ liters (C4), and control (C5). The results showed that the treatment of the active ingredient concentration of insecticide Permethrin 300 g/l had a very significant effect on the parameters of the Plutella xylostella L population, the weight of the wet stover, the weight of the crop, and the diameter of the crop. However, it does not significantly affect the parameters of plant height and dry stover weight.The effectiveness of the active ingredient insecticide Permethrin 300 g/l in the parameters of the population of Plutella xylostella L is best in the treatment concentration of 0.75 cc/ liters (C2), with a 100% efficacy rate.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze: (1) the composition of Pengilar’s catches on the Sebangau River (2) the parameters of Tapah fish stocks, including size structures and long weight relationship (3) the effectiveness of Pengilar (Pot Trap) fishing gear used in the Sebangau River. This research was conducted in Sebangau River, Sebangau Sub-district, Palangka Raya City, and Limnology Laboratory of Fisheries Department of Palangka Raya University. Based on the research results can be concluded: The composition of fish species caught by using Pengilar (pot trap) fishing gear in Sebangau River during the study of 105 heads consisting of 6 species of fish that is Wallago leeri, Kryptopterus bicirrhis, Anabas testudineus, Mystus nemurus, Pristolepis fasciata, and Helostoma temminckii.  It is assumed that the structure of the Wallago leeri from observation frequency and theoretical frequencies tend to consist of only one age group (cohort). Wallago leeri fish has a constant b with a value of W = 2.789 SL and average of 0.958. The value of b indicates that the Wallago leeri fish in the Sebangau River belong to negative allometrics or long increments faster than weight gain, indicating the state of the skinny fish.  Lc25%  with length of 46,76 cm, Lc75%  with length 63.65 cm, and L50% with length of 55,21 cm.
