Abstract

Problem-solving is one of the competencies in the learning innovation that students must possess to prepare life challenges in the 21st century. This study aimed to improve student problem-solving ability and cognitive learning outcome through the implementation of problem-based learning (PBL) model in learning biology at the senior high school. This research is a quasi-experimental research with pretest and posttest design. Two classes were chosen randomly from five classes of 10th-grade students for conducting research by implementing PBL and direct instruction learning models as an experiment and control (conventional) class, respectively. The problem-solving ability was measured by the essay test as well as the cognitive learning outcome at the end of the research and was analyzed by t-test. The result showed that students in the PBL class have a higher improvement in problem-solving ability. The student ability to problem-solving in the PBL class was also significantly higher than the conventional class. In addition, students in the PBL class have a higher cognitive learning outcome than the conventional class. Abstract

Possessing and developing metacognitive abilities are an essential part of the learning process. This study is a class action research on the use of critical analysis to identify its influence on students’ metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills as well as to discover the relationship between metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills. The sample of this study is 76 students from 217 students taking cell biology and non-vascular plants subject during the fall semester. It is a descriptive quantitative study with critical analysis assignments. Critical analysis rubric is used to collect the data of students’ critical analysis and the essay test to measure students’ critical thinking and metacognitive ability. The data of metacognitive ability and critical thinking were analyzed using regression test. The result showed there was a positive influence of the use of critical analysis to the student metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills. The results of a simple correlation analysis of metacognitive abilities and critical thinking skills show the means value (r) of 0.904, which means that there is a strong positive relationship between the two components. The higher the student’ metacognitive skills, the higher their critical thinking skill will be.

Abstract

Perilaku  koruptif aparatur peyeleggara Negara di Indonesia saat ini sudah sampai pada taraf yang sangat kronis,praktek korupsi terjadi di hampir semua lingkungan birokrasi milik pemerintah. Isebagai konsekuensinya,praktek memiliki implikasi yang sangat destruktif pada hampir seluruh sendi kehidupan. Korupsi telah menghancurkan sistem perekonomian, sistem demokrasi, sistem politik, sistem hukum, sistem pemerintahan, dan tatanan sosial kemasyarakatan di negeri ini. Dilain pihak upaya pemberantasan korupsi yang telah dilakukan selama ini belum menunjukkan hasil yang optimal.untuk meminimalisir potensi korupsi yang terjadi,peran semua komponen bangsa sangat diperlukan terutama generasi muda kampus yang merupakan harapan masyarakat untuk memerangi korupsi,olehnya itu upaya penanaman nilai-nilai anti korupsi dikalangan kampus sudah saatnya untuk digalakkan,metode mungkin sangat serhana yakni dengan mengintegrasikan pendidikan anti korupsi dalam desain kurikulum di perguruan tinggi tersebutPenelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan tipe penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang menggunakan konten kajian yang terdapat dalam berbagai literature sebagai basis data primernya.Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data yakni melalui studi kepustakaan dengan cara melakukan infentarisasi terhadap seluruh sumber literatur yang digunakan kemudian diferifikasi secara cermat guna memastikan  tingkat relevansi materi yang dikumpulkan dengan objek yang menjadi fokus kajian dalam penelitianFakta yang ditemukan dalam penelitian menunjukan belum optimalnya implementasi pendidkan karakter yang berbasis pada penguatan sikap anti korupsi bagi mahasiswa di perguruan tinggi meskipun gagasan kearah tersebut telah dimunculkan pada tahun 2012 bahkan produk hukum dan standar operasional prosedurnya pelaksanaannya telah diterbitkan oleh pemerintah.rekomendasi sederhana dalam penelitian ini adalah perlu dioptimalkan pendidkan karakter di perguruan tinggi untuk menyiapkan generasi muda yang anti korupsi.Kata Kunci: karakter anti korupsi mahasiswa

Abstract

The implementation of innovative learning and lesson study (LS) are potential to improve student thinking skills and activeness differently and mostly implemented separately. This study aimed to explore and compare the student critical and creative thinking skills as well as student activeness in the inquiry and cooperative models combined with LS-based learning practice. This was a descriptive quantitative study that was conducted at Islamic Senior High School 1 of Bengkulu.  The sample was two classes consisted of 33 and 32 students each that conducted LS-inquiry and LS-cooperative learning. The essay test delivered to measure critical and creative thinking skills and observation sheet to measure student activeness. The data were analyzed by t-test to compare critical and creative thinking skills as well as the student activeness between the LS-inquiry and LS-cooperative classes. The result showed that LS-inquiry learning improved the student critical and creative thinking skills that significantly higher than LS-cooperative learning. The student activeness improved gradually as LS cycles during learning processes in either inquiry or cooperative learning, but no significant difference between these two learning models. It showed that inquiry learning plays a dominant influence in critical and creative thinking skills improvement, whereas LS in student activeness improvement otherwise.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the species of Liana plants found in Educational Forest of Muhammadiyah University of Centre Bengkulu withinConservation Forest of Bukit Barisan located in Kepahyang Regency of Bengkulu Province. This survey method research was conducted on March-April 2017. Sampling was collected in the plots placed along transect line in the forest which have temperature range from 27–31OC and humidity range 76-87%. The result found that of 20 Liana plants species belong to 9 families. Asteraceae family consist of 1 species of Mikania micrantha, family Araceae consist of 1 species of Pothos scandens, family Convolvulaceae consist of 4 species namely Ipomoea triloba, Ipomoea cairica, Merremia peltata, Merremia vitifolia, family Dioscorea consist of 1 species of Dioscorea hispida, family Fabaceae consist of 2 species of Calopogonium mucunoides, Centrosema pubescens, family Menispermaceae consist of 3 species of Cyclea barbata, Pericampylus glaucus, Tinospora crispa, family Palmae cinsist of 4 species namely Calamus caesius, Calamus manan, Daemonorops sabut, Korthalsia rigida, famili Piperaceae consist of 3 species of Piper betle, Piper nigrum, Piper ornatum, family Schizaeaceae consist of 1 species of Lygodium flexuosum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui populasi ikan gelodok (Periopthalmus modestus) di kawasan hutan mangrove Kualo Lingkar Barat Bengkulu. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survey langsung ke lokasi penelitian. Populasi ikan gelodok dihitung berdasarkan metode dari Hayne (Analisis Regresi: Y = a + bX), kemudian dilakukan pengukuran faktor ekologi pada habitat ikan gelodok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah ikan gelodok (Periophthalmus modestus) yang ada di kawasan hutan mangrove Kualo Lingkar Barat Bengkulu berkisar 372 s/d 396 ekor. Untuk faktor ekologi ikan gelodok di hutan mangrove Kualo Lingkar Barat Bengkulu diketahui bahwa suhu berkisar 25oC - 32oC, salinitas berkisar 0-9 ppt, pH air berkisar 7,5-8,3, kedalaman air berkisar 84,8-178 cm, dan lumpur 17,2-20,8 cm serta kecerahan air berkisar 35-110 cm dan jenis vegetasi yang ada adalah  Bruguiera gymnorrhiza.
