Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain the role of sarcasm, the value of character education in the collection of poetry Mencari Tanah Lapang by Wiji Thukul, and the relevance the role of sarcasm and the value of character education in the collection of poetry Mencari Tanah Lapang by Wiji Thukul on the teaching of literature in universities. Technique of subject sampling is purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used are document analysis and interviews. The validity of data in this study is done by using critical discourse analysis techniques. The results of this research are: (1) there are 62 sarcasm in the collection of poetry Mencari Tanah Lapang that serve as satirical of rules, satire of politics, satire of development, satire of education, satire of social inequality, and satire world health; (2)  the value of character education contained in the collection of poetry Mencari Tanah Lapang is religious values, honesty, tolerance, hard work, democracy, reading, and social care;(3) the role of sarcasm majors and the value of character education contained in the collection of poetry Mencari Tanah Lapang can be used as a literary teaching material with the subject of poetry in the study program of Indonesian literature.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain about (1) aspects of diction; (2) aspects of the style of language; (3) aspects of the image; and (4) relevance as teaching material of Indonesian language subjects in junior high school which is in the lyrics of Sheila On 7 in the album Determining the Direction (2008). The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study indicate that the lyrics of the song Sheila On 7 album Determine the Direction consists of sentences that can be examined its aspects through stilistic studies. The researchers found the elements contained in the lyrics of this song in the study of stilistika, which consists of diction elements, language style or majas, images, and relevance to teaching materials of Indonesian subjects in SMP class VII. The results of this study also proves that the lyrics of the song Sheila On 7 in the album Determining the Direction can be used as subjects of Indonesian language subjects in junior high school in poetry material.

Abstract

This research aims to describe (1) the choice of words;  (2) language style; (3) imagery; and (4) its relevance towards Bahasa Indonesia learning process in high school regarding to ?Putri Kuninang-Kunang? novel written by Titi Setiyoningsih. This study counts as qualitative reasearch using a novel entitled ?Putri Kunang-Kunang? written by Titi Setiyoningsih, and the informants including teachers and students as the source of data. This research not only observed and recorded the choice of words, diction, and imagery  as the data but also combined the data with the informants statements to get the whole data. The technique took purpose sampling as the technique. The validity data was tested using triangulation method. The flowing analysis were chosen to analyse the whole data through the data reduction, the data presentation, and the conclusion. The result found that: (1) Dictions; there were 13 words related to personal characteristics, 2 grossier words, 12 loanwords, 6 nature reality words; (2) Language style or figurative language; there were 2 similes, 4 metaphores, 10 personifications, 2 pleonasms, 6 hyperboles, 1 satires, 2 paradox, 1 ironi, 2 sinism, 4 saracasms, 1 metonymy; (3) Imagery; there were 14 visual imagery, 8 auditory imagery, 4 olfactory imagery, 2 gustatory imagery, 17 movement imagery, and 4 touch imagery. The amount of the imagery had various numbers depends on its imagery. (4) The Novel entitled ?Putri Kunang-Kunang? connected to Bahasa Indonesia learning process in High School as a teaching material of literary (novel) appreciation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study isto increase motivation and ability writetext explanation on student class XI A P 1 SMK N 1 Surakarta with apply method group investigation. This is classrrom action research which carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed that through the application of methods group investigationcan increase motivation and potentiality write explanatory texts in class XI A P 1 SMK N 1 Surakarta from action practice to the first cycle and from the first cycle to the second cycle. Motivation students and in ability to write explanation text increase although not optimal yet there are still some deficiencies both from the teacher and student factors and need to be improved by the second cycle. The conclusions are: (1) implementation method group investigation enhancing motivation on student, (2) application of group investigation methods enhancing the ability to write explanatory text on students with concrete steps taken.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to describe: (1) id psychology on the main character in Atheis novel by Achdiat Karta Mihardja; (2) ego psychology on the main character in the Atheis novel; (3) super-ego psychology on the main character in the Atheis novel; (4) the educational value contained in the Atheis novel; (5) its relevance as teaching material in learning literature appreciation in high school.This research uses descriptive qualitative method with psychology approach of literature. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with psychology approach of literature. The data obtained by researchers coming from Atheis novel, interviews with writers, lecturers of Indonesian language studies program, teachers and students. The validity of data is obtained through triangulation theory. Data were analyzed using analysis techniques interactive.The conclusions of this study were (1) the psychology of the main character in the Atheis novel by Achdiat Karta Mihardja is a Hasan character who suffers from psychiatric disorder that is the uncertainty of choosing religious belief (2) there are eleven grades of character traits contained in Atheis novel, they are religious values, tolerance, hard work, social caring, curiosity, friendship, responsibility, self-reliance, peace, discipline, like to read (3) Atheis novel is relevant to the literary learning material in senior high school because it contains many moral messages and good character education value for students.

Abstract

The form of this research is qualitative descriptive used an approach of sociology literature. Data collection technique used: (1) document analysis technique which is novel Pasung Jiwa; (2) interviews technique with informant which are teacher and student. The collected data analyzed by interactive analysis model. The result of the research are: (1) Intrinsic element analysis of novel Pasung Jiwa, the main theme are freedom and the struggle against injustice. The figures analyzed the main character that are Sasana and Jaka, and the additional characters that are Ayah, Ibu, Cak Man, Masita, Banua, Memed and Leman, the Marjinals, Elis, and Kalina . The plot of novel Pasung Jiwa is chronological plot. The background scene happen in Jakarta, Malang, and Batam. The background time happen in 1993-2003. The view point used first person perspective; (2) Social criticism in novel Pasung Jiwa includes social criticism of government because of Orde Baru repressive government. Social criticism of arbitrary power. Social criticism of the economy because of monetary crisis. Social criticism of human rights because of Sasana?s struggle as a transgender; (3) The education value contained within novel Pasung Jiwa are: religious; honest; tolerance; discipline; hard work; creative; independent; democratic; curiosity; the spirit of nationality; love the homeland; appreciate achievement; communicative/friendly; love peace; like to read; social care; and responsibility; and (4) Novel Pasung Jiwa has a novel suitability criteria that can be used as teaching material

Abstract

This research is a case study research aims. Data sources include events, informants, and documents. Research subjects are Indonesian language teachers, Vice Principals of Curriculum, andstudents of SMA N 1 Gemolong. Technique of research subject taken by purposive sampling technique. Technique of data collecting done by observation, interview, and document analysis. The technique of data validity test is done by triangulation of source and triangulation method. Data analysis techniques use interactive analysis techniques.The results of this study are descriptions of: (1) the planning of authentic assessment in the Curriculum 2013 in Indonesian learning includes the preparation of assessment indicators, assessment criteria, and rubrics on RPP; (2) the implementation of authentic assessment in the Curriculum 2013 on learning Indonesian, teachers carry out authentic assessment in learning; (3) obstacles that teachers encounter in the conduct of authentic assessment and efforts to overcome them. Obstacles encountered by teachers include: (1) time constraints; (2) the difficulty of applying authentic assessment of certain competencies (3) the complexity of authentic assessment of (4) age. Efforts to overcome authentic assessment constraints include: (1) teachers make arrangements that include agreement between teachers and learners to perform assessments at specific times and places; (2) the teacher considers the assessments obtained from various sources; (3) teachers attend various trainings that are authentic assessment concepts; (4) the school provides an application to determine the value of the learner.

Abstract

The research was aimed to know whether cooperative learning model with teams games tournament type could improve both process and the scanning reading competention on finding  information from phone book. This research subjects was the eighth grade students of PKBM Sahabat Karanganyar in academic year of 2016/2017. Data were collected by document analysis, observation, and interview. The data validity was tested by data triangulation technique. Data was analyzed by comparative descriptive technique. This research procedure consists of: (1) the planning; (2) the act of learning; (3) observation; and (4) analysis and reflection. The result showed that there were improvement of process and scanning reading competention on finding information from phone book through cooperative learning model with teams games tournament type in the eighth grade students of PKBM Sahabat Karanganyar in academic year of 2016/2017.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to describe the intrinsic structure of folklore, the heroism value of folklore, and relevance as literary teaching materials in junior high school. This research used qualitative description method with content analysis approach. The data sources are folklore texts, places and cultural heritage, and informants. Folklore used in this research are Asal Mula Nama Karanganyar, Perjuangan Raden Mas Said, and Joko Songo. Selected as the sample using purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The technique of data collection are documents analysis and interview. The data validity technique used are source and method triangulation. The technique of data analysis using interactive model of analysis that includes data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The result of this research are, (1) the structure contained in folklore in Karanganyar includes themes, characters, plot, setting, and message, (2) found 15 heroism value in folklore in Karanganyar District, (3) the folklore in Karanganyar is relevance with teaching materials in the junior high school.

Abstract

This research aimed at describing and explaining about (1) the style of language used in the Short Story of Di Tubuh Tara, Dalam Rahim Pohon; (2) the value of character education contained in Di Tubuh Tara, Dalam Rahim Pohon; (3) the relevance of the Short Story in Di Tubuh Tara, Dalam Rahim Pohon as a literary learning material. The results of this study indicate that, (1) language style there are 35 data, namely simile; metaphor; personification; allegory; hyperbole; satire; irony; pleonase; periphrasis. (2) The value of character education there are 20 data, that is social care; honest; religious; responsible; curiosity; like to read; environmental care; love the homeland; appreciate achievement; hard work; independent; spirit of nationality; creative; love peace. (3) A collection of short stories In Tara's Body In The Womb Tree is one of a collection of short stories that can be made as teaching material at school. Because in addition to the collection of short stories that have a beautiful but easy to understand language style, the collection of short stories also have a different theme from one work to another, and in accordance with the subjects of Indonesian language, literary learning, especially the appreciation of short stories in high school.
