Abstract

ABSTRAK Jati Putih (Gmelina arborea Roxb) yang dikenal sebagai Gamhar adalah pohon yang banyak tumbuh yang menyebar alamiah, sebagian besar dari India, dimana akar, kulit kayu, daun, bunga, dan buah merupakan bagian tanaman yang bisa digunakan sebagai obat.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat efek toksik setelah pemberian ekstrak etanol daun jati putih (Gmelina arborea Roxb). Pada penelitian ini terdapat 2 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif menerima akuades dan kelompok perlakuan menerima ekstrak etanol daun jati putih pada konsentrasi 10 mg/g BB selama 60 hari berturut-turut. Masing–masing kelompok terdiri dari 6 ekor tikus. Hari ke-31 dan ke-61 dilakukan pengambilan darah kemudian pengukuran kadar SGPT, kreatinin dan pembedahan. Hasil penelitian uji toksisitas subkronik ekstrak etanol daun jati putih pada tikus putih jantan menunjukkan bahwa pada hari ke-31 tidak ada tanda-tanda kerusakan pada organ hati, ginjal dan lambung, sedangkan pada hari ke-61 menunjukkan terjadi luka pada lambung. Kata kunci : toksisitas, subkronik, daun jati putih, tikus putih. ABSTRACT Goomar teak (Gmelina arborea Roxb) is known as Gamhar trees that grow naturally widespread, mostly from India, where the roots, bark, leaves, flowers, and fruit of the plant part that can be used as medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the toxic effects after administration of ethanol extract of leaves of goomar teak (Gmelina arborea Roxb). In this study there were two groups: negative control group and the treatment group receiving aqudest received ethanol leaf extract at a concentration of 10 mg white teak/g BW for 60 consecutive days. Each group consisted of 6 rats. 31st day and the 61st was then measured levels of blood sampling SGPT, creatinine and surgery. The results subchronic toxicity test ethanol extract of goomar teak leaf on white male rats showed that at day 31 there was no sign of damage to the liver, kidneys and stomach, whereas on day 61 showed an injury to the stomach. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disorder that specifically involves the metabolism of carbohydrates (glucose) in the body, also causes disorders of fat and protein metabolism. The benefits of kersen (Muntingia calabura L.) which are well known, among others, overcome DM. This study was conducted to determine the hypoglycemic activity of ethanol extract of M. calabura leaves in reducing blood sugar levels and effective dose of reducing blood glucose in mice (Mus musculus) induced by alloxan 130 mg/kg BW. Distribution of experimental animals, group I was given a glibenclamide suspension 0.13 mg/kg BW as (positive control), groups II, III and IV were given ethanol extract of M. calabura leaves at a dose of 50, 100 and 150 mg/kg BW and the group V is given a 1% NaCMC suspension (negative control). Giving extracts carried out for 7 days. The results showed blood sugar levels before treatment, after induction, and after treatment, respectively, group I (81.00; 141.00; and 94.75 mg/dL), group II (79.00; 138.50; and 50.00 mg/dL), group III (102.50; 119.25; and 77.75 mg/dL), group IV (88.25; 146.00; and 61.00 mg/dL), and group V (108.00; 131.25; and 114.75 mg/dL). Based on the results of the study showed a decrease in blood sugar levels at all doses of ethanol extract of M. calabura leaves which has the potential as a diabetes drug.

Abstract

Seeds basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) has been known to the publicand is widely used to treat a variety of diseases. One of its benefits as lowering fever but have not been proven scientifically. This study was to determine whether there is an antipyretic effecte basil seeds (Ocimum basilicum L.) and to determine the effectiveness of extracts of basil seeds by using some of the solvent is n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol compared with paracetamol in mice (Mus musculus). This study was an experimental study using RAL. Experimental animals used were 15 mice, stages of research giving treatment af mice in each group who had fasted for 12 hours, measured rectal temperature (initial temperature), then injected with 1 ml peptone/tail subcutaneously. The data obtained were analyzed ANOVA followed BNJ test. Test antipyretic extract basil seeds (Ocimum basilicum) with some solvent, most effectively used as a solvent in the basil seeds that solvent ethyl acetate compared with solvent n-hexane and ethanol. The results oft his study showed that the extract of basil seeds antipyretic effect.
