Abstract

Economic crisis and various economic recovery policies issued by government lead tomore dynamic and fluctuative prices of foodstuffs and agricultural inputs since mid 1997.During the peak period of the crisis food prices at retail market increased at higher rate, about3 to 25 times of price growth before crisis, particularly for the low price foodstuffs. Thismeans that the crisis tends to cause higher impact on food consumption of low incomehousehold. To overcome the crisis various trade policies on food and agricultural inputsissued by government so that the rate of growth of food prices become lower, in other word,favorable for food consumer. Those policies however were unfavorable for farmer?s incomeincrease because due to policies on inputs trade the ratio of food prices to inputs pricesdecreased with increasing rate. The situation was more difficult for future agriculturedevelopment, which more focused on income increse instead of production increase, becausein addition to unfavorable prices the crisis also lead to increase of number of people involvedin agricultural sector about 3.56 million people or 9.9 persen. In order to support agriculturedevelopment, accordingly, reorientation and reorganisation of food trade policies for riceparticularly is required.

Abstract

This paper describes a program called ?Quality Improvement on Intensification (QII)? especially in relation with it?s: 1) implementation, 2) adoption - diffusion and 3) effect on the rice production. The research was conducted in the District of Pekalongan and Pemalang ? Central Java, in which from each District, two villages were chosen as the sample, one village represented the succeed of QII and one unsucced QII village. The data were collected in October 2002 from ten QII cooperators? farmers and ten no cooperators? farmers in one village, therefore the total respondent farmers from Central Java were 80 farmers. The data were analyzed qualitatively and presented descriptively. The results show that: 1) the implementation of the program was not follow the QII?s rules namely: a) the selected locations were in the villages which is already received program intensively instead of the villages which never received intensification. b) The selected farmers were according to their ability in returning the credit instead of the land holding. c) The socialization of QII program only emphasized the technical aspect, not included the social aspect such as the empowerment of the farmers. 2) All the cooperators and non-cooperators farmers (100%) were familiar with the suggested technology but only technologies which were not increase the farming input such as planting distance and the number of plant which has been implemented by 100% farmers. Farming pattern was not implemented because not suitable with the water availably (Pekalongan) and capital (Pamalang). Technology with high capital such as balance fertilizing only implemented by 70% of cooperator farmers and 32% of non-cooperator farmers. , complicated technology such as organic fertilizer making and expensive technology such as post harvest were never practiced by both cooperators and non-cooperators farmers. QII program was 16% increase the rice production of the cooperator farmers and 11% of non-cooperator farmers with the benefit of each 38% and 24% from the total output; however this achievement was decrease when the program had finished.

Abstract

Due to over exploitation, the population of Eusideroxylon zwageri is decreasing drastically. One simple technique to conserve the last remaining genetic resources of E. zwageri is by air layering. The experiment was divided into two. The experiment was conducted from July 2018 to February 2019. The first experiment was conducted using branches that grew from coppices while the second experiment using twigs that grew from normal adult trees. Randomized Block Design was applied with three replicates. The treatments were consisted of nine concentration of auxin namely 0 ppm of auxin; 1, 000 ppm; 1,500 ppm; 2,000 ppm and 2,500 ppm of IAA and 1,000 ppm; 2,000 ppm; 3,000 ppm and 4,000 ppm of IBA. The result of experiment shows that the IBA growth regulator seems to be more effective in regulating growth and rooting of E. zwageri air layering compared to IAA. Results for air layering which was taken from coppices revealed that 1,000 ppm of IBA obtained the best results. Air layering of branches taken from coppice is possible even without any additional growth regulator. While, air layering of twigs which was taken from normal trees revealed that the best treatment is 3,000 ppm of IBA.

Abstract

ABSTRACTTomatoes (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) horticultural which are very good for consumption as well as industrial materials.  However, the cultivation of tomatoes still faces many obstacles, one of them is the seed.  The quality of old seeds decreases with age of seeds, so that it will affect a crop production.  This study aims to determine whether the magnetic field strength can improve tomato plant vigor.  The study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) of one factor, the induction of a magnetic field consisting of 3 levels, namely 0.1 mT (M0.1), 0.2 mT (M0.2), 0.3 mT (M0,3) for 7 minutes 48 seconds. This study uses two controls;  positive control the new seed (Sn) and negative control was the old seed (So) from not being given a magnetic field treatment each experiment unit is repeated 5 times.  The parameters measured were plant height, chlorophyll content, and carbohydrate content.  The data obtained were analyzed.  If there was a difference between treatments, it was continued with the smallest difference between treatments using the Tukey's test at the 5% level.  The results of the analysis prove that the magnetic field induction of the old seed can increase seed vigor, causing plant height, chlorophyll and carbohydrate content to be the same as plants from new seeds.    Keywords: tomatoes, old seeds, strong magnetic field

Abstract

This article aims to determine the effect of service recovery consisting of procedural justice, interactional justice and distributive justice on customer satisfaction in guests Hotel Royal Jember. Methods of data collection is done by distributing questionnaires to 104 respondents who are guests Hotel Royal Jember with the following criteria must be at least 17 years because they have had the income and memampu use the services of the hotel and was the guest of Hotel Royal Jember ever experienced keluihan when using the services of Hotel Royal Jember , The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis method used is logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the variables used are service recovery consisting of procedural justice, interactional justice and distributive justice effect on customer satisfaction in guests Hotel Royal Jember. Abstract

Two series of a study on the correlation between soil properties and distribution of ironwood (Eusideroxylon zwageri Teijsm.& Binn.) varieties had been conducted in Senami, a natural forest stand, Jambi, Indonesia. The first was using purposive random sampling. The samples were taken from the locations where the E. zwageri varieties naturally grow in the depth of 0?30 cm and 30?60 cm. The number of composite samples was 18 which were analyzed for chemical soil properties. The second study was conducted using systematic sampling where 64 soil cores were collected from 3 different soil depths namely 0?20 cm, 20?40 cm, and 40?60 cm. The physical soil properties were analyzed from the 64 soil samples. The research results revealed that the drainage among E. zwageri varieties varied from poor conditions to moderate, while the bulk density was slightly different, from very low to low. The results also show that E. zwageri varieties are able to grow in almost any soil textures. There is no specific correlation between chemical soil properties and distribution of E. zwageri varieties. All varieties grow at almost the same condition of chemical soil properties except var. grandis.

Abstract

EnglishOne of issues in Indonesia related with food security is reliance on imported foods, especially wheat and rice. To cope with this issue, development of local food crops substitute to both foods is essential particularly those adapted to dry land characterized by barrenness, high erosion risk, and limited water supply. Sorghum is one of local food crops to these drought characteristics. Use of sorghum as flour for producing processed foods (noodles, breads, cakes, etc.) can substitute up to 15 to 50 percent of wheat flour. Other industrial products, as well as bio-ethanol, can also be produced using sorghum. Sorghum crop waste is contains high nutrients appropriate for animal feed. To encourage sorghum cultivation in the dry land it is necessary to apply an integrated agribusiness, namely sorghum plant, flour processing, bio ethanol processing, and cattle farming, conducted in a large scale. Development of sorghum processing industries is essential in expanding sorghum market as well as its economic value. In the same time cattle farming is essential to maintain dry land fertility. As an initial stage, this integrated business should be conducted by BUMN (government own companies) facilitated by subsidized investment credit. IndonesianSalah satu masalah yang dihadapi Indonesia berkaitan dengan ketahanan pangan adalah ketergantungan terhadap bahan pangan impor terutama beras dan gandum. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut maka perlu dikembangkan bahan pangan lokal lain yang dapat mensubstitusi kedua bahan pangan tersebut dan dapat dikembangkan pada lahan kering yang umumnya memiliki kesuburan rendah, peka terhadap erosi dan ketersediaan air terbatas. Sorgum merupakan tanaman pangan lokal yang dapat dikembangkan pada lahan kering dan penggunaan tepung sorgum untuk pembuatan berbagai produk makanan olahan (mie, roti, kue, dst) dapat mensubstitusi 15%-50 persen tepung gandum. Berbagai produk industri lainnya dan bioetanol juga dapat dibuat dari sorgum sementara limbah tanaman sorgum  bernilai gizi tinggi untuk bahan pakan ternak. Untuk mendorong pengembangan tanaman sorgum di lahan kering perlu diterapkan sistem usaha yang terintegrasi : tanaman sorgum - pengolahan tepung sorgum – pengolahan bioetanol - ternak sapi dalam skala luas. Pengembangan industri pengolahan sorgum diperlukan untuk meningkatkan nilai ekonomi dan memperluas pasar sorgum sedangkan pengembangan ternak sapi diperlukan untuk mempertahankan kesuburan lahan kering. Sebagai inisiasi, pengembangan usaha yang terintegrasi tersebut perlu dilaksanakan oleh BUMN yang difasilitasi dengan subsidi kredit investasi.

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of immersion time in artificial salive on the flexural strength of provisional crown and bridge (p-c&b) materials. Materials and Methods: Two types of p-c&b materials were used in this study: Light polymerized p-c&b material (Revotek LC) and autopolymerized p-c&b material (PerfecTemp II). A total of 100 specimens were fabricated and measured according to ISO 4049/2000. A stainless steel mould was used to prepare 2mmx2mmx25mm bar shaped specimens. All materials were dispensed and manipulated according to the manufacturers instructions. The specimens were divided into 5 groups (n=10). Each specimen of the first group was measured immediately after preparation. The second, third, fourth and fifth groups were immersed in artificial saliva at 37ºC in an incubator for 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days, and 14 days, respectively. Flexural strength was tested by Universal Mechanical Testing Machine Shimadzu in a 3-point bending test. The repeated ANOVA and Post-Hoc Bonferroni test were used to compare the continuous variables between the groups. Results: The results showed flexural strength of Revotek LC were higher than PerfecTemp II at first and second group. However, flexural strength of PerfecTemp II was higher than Revotek LC at third, fourth, and fifth group. The highest flexural strength of Revotek LC was achieved in 1 hour immersion, whereas PerfecTemp II achieved the highest value in 7 days. Conclusion: Flexural strength of p-c&b materials were influenced by immersion time in artifical saliva and the type of p-c&b materials.DOI: 10.14693/jdi.v17i1.108

Abstract

IndonesianTumpangsari hutan merupakan suatu penerapan konsep agroforestry yang telah berjalan lebih dari satu abad sejak Buurman memperkenalkannya pada tahun 1873. Permasalahan yang dirasakan pada penerapan metoda tumpangsari dalam sistem peremajaan hutan dewan ini adalah adanya gejala semakin langkanya pekerja hutan yang dapat dikontrak sebagai pembuat tanaman. Kesulitan itu disinyalir disebabkan adanya kecenderungan penurunan produktivitas lahan sehingga pendapatan pesanggem dari hasil usahataninya berkurang. Di pihak lain metoda peremajaan ini merupakan metoda peremajaan hutan yang diandalkan karena kelebihan-kelebihannya dibanding dengan metoda peremajaan yang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai keragaan tumpangsari hutan terutama yang berhubungan dengan perubahan penerimaan dan biaya, resiko dan respon dari faktor-faktor produksi terhadap hasil sebagai akibat adanya perubahan teknik berproduksi dari tumpangsari tradisional ke Inmas tumpangsari. Untuk sampai pada tujuan tersebut telah digunakan metoda analisis budget, pembandingan koefisien variasi (CV), dan analisis fungsi produksi.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerimaan atas biaya tunai meningkat sebesar 75 persen dan 13 persen masing-masing untuk perubahan tumpangsari tradisional ke Inmas tumpangsari pada lahan bonita 3 dan bonita 4. Resiko yang dihadapi dalam usahatani tumpangsari cukup tinggi seperti tergambar dalam CV yang pada umumnya lebih dari 40 persen. Elastisitas penerimaan atas biaya tunai (dihitung dengan metoda aritamtik biasa) terhadap perubahan biaya yang dikeluarkan untuk pupuk dan pestisida adalah 45 persen dan 22 persen masing-masing untuk perubahan tumpangsari tradisional ke Inmas pada lahan bonita 3 dan bonita 4. Adapun hasil pengujian statistik dari fungsi produksi, secara parsial tidak menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang berarti dari setiap masukan usahatani dan jarak antara lahan andil dengan rumah petani. Walaupun begitu, pengaruh peubah-peubah bebas tersebut secara sekaligus keseluruhan menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata pada tingkat kepercayaan 99 persen.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk membuat sebuah model alat pemantau tekanan darah arteri pada lengan manusia, dengan metode NMR. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menempatkan pipa plastik (berdiameter 0,5 cm) datar memanjang melewati rongga antara kedua kutub elektromagnet yang memberikan kuat medan magnet (150+-5)x10 gauss, dan juga berada di sepanjang koil RF. Disamping koil RF itu terdapat pula koil penerima. Saat itu, air mengalir di dalam pipa pada kelajuan (4+-1)10-1 m/s yang bersesuaian dengan tekanan 80 N/m2. Penelitian ini dilandasi oleh kenyataan bahwa 80% darah berupa air, dan molekul air mengandung atom hidrogen yang di dalam atomnya terdapat proton. Model ini dilandasi oleh kenyataan bahwa kelajuan alir darah di pembuluh arteri pada lengan (5+-1)x10-1 m/s, dan diameter pembuluh darahnya juga 0,4 cm. Penelitian ini berhasil memberikan informasi, bahwa aliran air di dalam pipa plastik pada kelajuan, tekanan, dan kuat medan magnet di atas mampu memberikan frekuensi resonansi NMR sebesar 5,5MHz, dan koil penerima memberikan GGL induksi di CRO sebesar 18 mV.
