Abstract

The process of degeneration in the elderly less acurate results in height measurement, which has an impact on BMI calculation. Julia Pertiwi created a formula to measure elderly?s height by combining knee height and arm span for Javanese community. The purpose of this study was to determine the compatibility of elderly?s height predictor dan Body Mass Index measurements based on knee height and arm span. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. Height was measured by stadiometer, weight by digital scales, knee height by Knee Height Caliper, and arm span by measuring tape. Comparison were conducted through Anova and Kruskal-Wallis tests. This study was conducted on Javanese community in Sambiroto village, Semarang. Fifty two subjects, 18 men and 34 women were aged 60 yeares and over, stand up straightly, and Javanese. Exclusion criteria were hunchback, disability, stiff joints, tremor, fracture, and arm span deformities. The results showed that there was no difference actual height and BMI based on actual height with height and BMI based on Fatmah?s formula (knee height and arm span), Julia?s formula, and Chumlea?s formula on men. There was difference height and BMI based on actual height with height and BMI based on Fatmah?s formula (knee height and arm span), Julia?s formula, and Chumlea?s formula on women. Conclusion: there was a suitability of elderly?s height predictor and BMI measurements based on knee height and arm span. The Fatmah?s formula based on arm span was the best formula for calculating height and BMI on men, and Julia?s formula was the best formula for women, because these formulas had closest results with height and BMI based on actual height. Suggestions for the next researcher should increase the number of samples and be carried out in different ethnicities.

Abstract

High intake of saturated fat, sodium and low intake of calcium and magnesium can increase blood pressure. The prevalence of hypertension at Wening Wardoyo Elderly Social Service House, Ungaran was quite high (25.5% had systolic hypertension). The purpose of this research was to analyze the correlations between energy intake, macro, and micronutrients and blood pressure on elderly at Wening Wardoyo Elderly Social Service House, Ungaran. This study was an explanatory research with a cross-sectional design. Subjects in this study were 26 elderly men and women, aged 60-90 years old, who were chosen by purposive sampling technique. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure was measured by the researchers using a digital tensimeter. Data collection on food intake was conducted by Food Weighing, which then were processed by nutrisurvey. Data analysis was done using Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results showed that 26.9% of respondents had systolic prehypertension, 19.2% of them were in the first phase, 23.1% had diastolic prehypertension, and 3.8% had diastolic hypertension at the first phase. Among respondents, 69.9% had moderate energy intake, 88.5% of respondents had excessive saturated fat intake, and 88.5% of respondents had lack intake of magnesium. All respondents had a low sodium intake, as well as a reduced intake of calcium. There was a correlation between saturated fat intake with systolic (r=0.758; p=0.003) and diastolic (r=0.856; p=0.001) blood pressures. There was no correlation between the energy adequacy level, sodium intake, calcium intake and magnesium intake with systolic and diastolic blood pressure. It recommended for the institution administrators to arrange the new menu by reducing high saturated fat foods.

Abstract

Maternity class which aimed to decrease maternal mortality rates, has been implemented in Kendal District since 2010. Maternity class in Cepiring (one of the primary health care center in Kendal) has been held in 15 places but the rates of postpartum visit (KF3) still low in 2014. The research objective was to analyze the association between the maternity class attendance and knowledge, attitude and practice of postpartum careamong post partum mothers inCepiring Primary Health Care Center working area. This study was an explanatory study with a cross-sectional approach. The population was 204 postpartum mothers who lived in Cepiring during January-March 2016. Among them 66 subjects were chosen through purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed by Chi Square tests. The results showed that precentage of postpartum mother?s with low konwledge was 54.5%, postpartum mother?s with good attitude was 68.2%. postpartum mother?s with good practice was 57.6%. There were associations between the maternity class attendance and knowledge (p=0.002) and attitude (p=0.013). There was no association between the maternity class attendance and  postpartum care practice (p=0.646). It is concluded that the maternity class attendance was associated to knowledge and attitude in postpartum care. It was suggested that the midwives motivate the postpartum mothers to attend the maternity class and apply their knowledge of post partum care in practice.

Abstract

Hypertension may cause pre-eclampsia that may lead to mortality. Puskesmas Bangetayu has the highest case of pre-eclampsia in Semarang, which is 14 cases of severe preeclampsia in 2014. The purpose of this study was to discover the association between vitamin A, C, E, and Zinc adequacy ratio as antioxidant and systolic-diastolic blood pressure of pregnant women. This observational analytic study used quantitative method with cross-sectional study design. Population of this study is pregnant women in the operational area of Puskesmas Bangetayu in July-August 2017.  Eighty-five subjects were chosen using purposive sampling technique. Structured interview, Food Frequency Questionnaire, physical activity recalls, and blood pressure measurement were used to collect the data. The data was processed with Rank Spearman and Chi Square. The result showed that most of the subjects had normal systolic-diastolic blood pressure, adequate ratio of vitamin C, and inadequate ratio of vitamin A, E and zinc. About 67% of subjects had energy deficiency, 50.6% had protein deficiency, and the mean of fat intake was 12.7%. This study demonstrates that there are associations between vitamin C adequacy ratio and systolic (p-value=0.009) and diastolic (p-value=0.017) blood pressure. There is no association between vitamin A, E, and zinc adequacy ratio with blood pressure. Puskesmas is suggested to take care of maternal antioxidant requirement and provide education concerning antioxidant-rich foods.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Several studies have shown that hospital patients tend to have a decrease in their nutritional status during their hospitalization period. Patient satisfactions to the food service in the hospital will influence the food intake and this food intake will have an effect on the nutritional status. Objectives: To analyze the correlation between patients satisfaction to the hospital food service, food intake, and the change in the nutritional status of patients in Sunan Kalijaga Hospital, Demak.Method: This study was an analytic observational research with a cross sectional approach. This study was done on 85 subjects of inpatients in the first, second, and third classess of Sunan Kalijaga Hospital. The dependent variable was the change in nutritional status. The independent variables were the patient satisfactions to the hospital food service and food intake. Data on patient satisfactions to the hospital food service were collected by interviews using structured questionnaires. Data on food intake of the hospital food were collected by Comstock method of the food remains after the consumption, while on food intake from of hospital were collected by 3 x 24 hour recall. The changes in nutritional status were measured by the change in BMI. Data were analyzed by correlation tests.Result: Most of subjects (97,3%) satisfied to the foodservice in the hospital. The average energy adequacy level of the hospital was 76,5 ± 9,4% and protein adequacy level was76,1± 10,3%. The average energy adequacy of out hospital food was 6,5± 6,7% and protein adequacy level was 6,7± 6,9%.  The average BMI at first day were 20,0 ± 3,4 kg/m2 and at the end of hospitalization were 19,7± 3,4 kg/m2. The average decreased in this study was 0,3 ± 0,2 kg/m2. There was correlation between foodservice satisfaction and the energy (p =0,009) and protein adequacy level (p=0,015). There were correlation between food intake and energy (p= 0,0001) and protein adequacy level(p= 0,038) to the change in subjects nutritional status. There was a correlation between hospital foodservice satisfaction and the change in nutritional satisfaction (p = 0,003).Conclusion: The higher level of hospiotal foodservice satisfaction, the higher of food intake and result in smaller decrease of the nutritional status Keywords : hospital, foodservice,satisfaction, nutrition

Latar Belakang : Asupan mikronutrien yang kurang merupakan salah satu penyebab masalah gizi di Indonesia, sehingga suplementasi mikronutrien dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan status gizi balita. Di negara berkembang, suplementasi micronutrient sprinkle telah dilakukan untuk program suplementasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian micronutrient sprinkle terhadap status antropometri indeks BB/U, TB/U dan BB/TB pada anak stunting usia 12-36 bulan. Metode : Desain penelitian adalah eksperimental dengan pre dan post test dengan control group. Populasi penelitian adalah anak usia 12-36 bulan di Kelurahan Rowosari, Tembalang, Semarang. Lima puluh subjek  dari posyandu dibagi menjadi kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol secara acak. Kelompok perlakuan berupa pemberian  30  bungkus micronutrient sprinkle selama 60 hari. Kedua kelompok diberi penyuluhan gizi, 2 minggu sekali. Asupan zat gizi diperoleh melalui 3x24 jam recall. Pengukuran BB dan TB dilakukan pada sebelum, 1 bulan dan 2 bulan setelah perlakuan. Analisis data menggunakan Anova and independent t-test. Hasil : Sembilan subjek drop out dalam penelitian dikarenakan tidak mengikuti prosedur penelitian dan pindah. Rerata BB kelompok perlakuan meningkat dari 9,3 ± 1,3 kg menjadi 9,8 ± 1,2 kg setelah 2 bulan sementara di kelompok kontrol berubah dari 9,3 ± 1,5 kg menjadi 9,4 ± 1,4 kg. Rerata TB kelompok perlakuan dari 76,2 ± 6,2 cm menjadi 79,3 ± 5,5 cm, sedangkan kelompok kontrol dari 76,5 ± 5,9 cm menjadi 78,4 ± 5,8 cm. Rerata peningkatan TB kelompok perlakuan lebih tinggi dari kelompok kontrol. Skor z indeks TB/U pada kelompok perlakuan meningkat dari -3,1 ± 0,7 menjadi -2,5 ± 0,6 dan dari -3,0 ± 0,8 menjadi -2,9 ± 0,9 untuk kelompok kontrol. Rerata peningkatan skor z indeks TB/U pada kelompok perlakuan lebih tinggi daripada kelompok kontrol. Kesimpulan : Suplementasi micronutrient sprinkle selama 2 bulan meningkatkan skor z indeks TB/U pada anak stunting usia 12-36 bulan.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Dislipidemia adalah kelainan metabolisme lipid yang ditandai dengan kelainan fraksi lipid dalam plasma darah, salah satunya adalah trigliserida. Daun salam (Eugenia polyantha) mengandung zat aktif yaitu flavonoid dan quersetin yang mampu menurunkan kadar trigliserida darah sehingga dapat mencegah terjadinya dislipidemia.Tujuan: Menganalisis perbedaan perubahan kadar trigliserida setelah pemberian ekstrak dan rebusan daun salam pada tikus sprague dawley yang diberi pakan tinggi lemak.Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah true-experimental dengan pre-post randomized control groups design. Subjek penelitian adalah 24 tikus sprague dawley jantan berusia 8 minggu, dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. Keempat kelompok diberi pakan standar dan diet tinggi lemak selama 19 hari. Kelompok pertama merupakan kelompok kontrol positif, kelompok kedua diberi 0,18 g/kg BB simvastatin, kelompok ketiga diberi 0,034 g/kg BB ekstrak daun salam dan kelompok  keempat diberi 0,72 g/kg BB rebusan daun salam.  Perbedaan  pengaruh ekstrak dan rebusan dianalisis dengan One Way Anova, Kruskal Wallis dan dilanjutkan uji LSD.Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada peningkatan kadar trigliserida setelah perlakuan pada kelompok diet tinggi lemak (kontrol positif) sebesar 96,62 mg/dl; kelompok rebusan: 35,4 mg/dl; kelompok ekstrak: 11,03 mg/dl; serta terjadi penurunan kadar trigliserida pada kelompok simvastatin: 3,53 mg/dl. Hasil uji post hoc menunjukkan perbedaan perubahan kadar trigliserida antara kelompok simvastatin dengan ketiga kelompok lainnya; estrak dengan diet tinggi lemak dan rebusan; serta rebusan dengan diet tinggi lemak.Simpulan: Pemberian rebusan daun salam tidak dapat menurunkan kadar trigliserida darah. Peningkatan kadar trigliserida darah lebih tinggi dengan pemberian rebusan dari pada pemberian ekstrak daun salam.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Hipertensi merupakan faktor risiko terjadinya penyakit jantung koroner, stroke, infark miokardia, gagal jantung dan penyakit ginjal. Tomat mengandung likopen yang mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan sehingga dapat menurunkan tekanan darah. Minyak zaitun meningkatkan absorbsi likopen dari tomat dan mengandung asam oleat yang dapat menurunkan tekanan darah. Tujuan: Menganalisis pengaruh penambahan minyak zaitun terhadap tekanan darah sistolik penderita hipertensi yang diberi jus tomat.Metode : Jenis penelitian adalah true experiment dengan rancangan pre ?post test with control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah wanita menopause dengan tekanan darah sistolik 140 ­? 159 mmHg yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, 12 pada kelompok perlakuan dan 12 pada kontrol. Intervensi dilakukan selama 7 hari. Tekanan darah sistolik diukur menggunakan Sphygmomanometer air raksa. Asupan makanan diukur menggunakan metode food recall 2x24 jam dan dianalisis menggunakan nutrisurvey. Aktivitas fisik dianalisis menggunakan International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Analisis statistik menggunakan uji paired t-test, Wilcoxon, independent t-test dan Mann Whitney.Hasil : Ada penurunan tekanan darah sistolik pada kelompok perlakuan dari 150,9±1,7 mmHg menjadi 136,4±4,5 mmHg (p=0,002) dan pada kelompok kontrol dari 148,5±4,5 mmHg menjadi 138,4±5,5 mmHg (p=0,0001). Rerata penurunan tekanan darah sistolik pada kelompok perlakuan 14,5±4,7 mmHg, lebih besar daripada kelompok kontrol 10,1±2,3 mmHg (p=0,007)Kesimpulan : Jus tomat dengan minyak zaitun sebanyak 10ml selama 7 hari menurunkan tekanan darah sistolik lebih banyak daripada jus tomat saja.

Latar Belakang : Dislipidemia merupakan kelainan metabolisme lipid yang ditandai dengan peningkatan maupun penurunan profil lemak dalam darah dan berakibat terjadinya penyakit kardiovaskular (CVD). Kandungan utama kacang merah seperti isoflavon, proantosianidin dan serat berperan dalam menurunkan kolesterol LDL. Bakteri Asam Laktat (BAL) pada yoghurt kacang merah dapat mengaktifkan isoflavon menjadi aglikon sehingga menurunkan kolesterol LDL.Tujuan: Menganalisis pengaruh pemberian yoghurt kacang merah terhadap kadar kolesterol LDL pada wanita dislipidemia.Metode : Jenis penelitian adalah true experiment dengan rancangan pre-post test with control group. Subjek penelitian adalah 37 wanita dengan kadar kolesterol LDL ?130 mg/dL yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan (225 ml yoghurt kacang merah/hari). Intervensi dilakukan selama 15 hari. Kadar kolesterol LDL dihitung dengan kolesterol total - kadar kolesterol HDL-1/5 kadar trigliserida. Asupan makanan selama intervensi diukur menggunakan metode food recall 24 jam dan dianalisis menggunakan program nutrisurvey. Aktivitas fisik dianalisis menggunakan International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Uji normalitas menggunakan Shapiro Wilk. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji dependent t-test, Wilcoxon, independent t-test dan Mann Whitney.Hasil : Tidak terdapat perbedaan kolesterol LDL awal antara kedua kelompok. Ada penurunan kolesterol LDL pada kelompok perlakuan dari 174,67 mg/dL menjadi 158,7 mg/dL. Ada penurunan kolesterol LDL pada kelompok kontrol dari 162,96 mg/dL menjadi 155,49 mg/dL. Pada kelompok perlakuan lebih besar daripada kelompok Kontrol (p=0,001). Penurunan kadar kolesterol LDL pada kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol masing-masing sebesar 15,97 mg/dL (9,4%) dan 7,47 mg/dL (4,6%). Simpulan : Konsumsi yoghurt kacang merah dengan dosis 225ml/hari selama 15 hari menurunkan kadar kolesterol LDL pada wanita dislipidemia.

Latar Belakang : Sebagian remaja sudah mulai menerapkan diet vegetarian. Diet vegetarian yang kaya akan serat, magnesium dan vitamin B6 berhubungan dengan sindrom pramenstruasi. Sindrom pramenstruasi pada remaja dapat menghambat aktivitas sosial dan akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan derajat sindrom pramenstruasi dengan status vegetarian pada remaja. Metode : Desain  penelitian adalah cross sectional.  Subjek terdiri dari 22 remaja vegetarian dan 22 remaja non-vegetarian yang dipilih secara purposive. Variabel dependen adalah sindrom pramenstruasi, variabel independen adalah status vegetarian. Variabel perancu adalah riwayat sindrom pramenstruasi keluarga dan aktivitas fisik. Data sindrom pramenstruasi, aktivitas fisik, dan riwayat keluarga diperoleh dengan wawancara menggunakan kuesioner terstruktur. Data asupan serat, magnesium, dan vitamin B6 diperoleh dengan Semi Quantitative Food Frequency. Perbedaan sindrom pramenstruasi, magnesium, vitamin B6 diuji menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney, riwayat sindrom pramenstruasi keluarga dan aktivitas fisik diuji menggunakan uji fisher-exact. Uji ancova digunakan untuk mengontrol variabel perancu. Hasil : Tidak terdapat perbedaan skor sindrom pramenstruasi (p=0,274) antara remaja vegetarian (12,5±11,1) dan nonvegetarian (17±9,3). Tidak terdapat perbedaan asupan serat (p=0,133), magnesium (p=0,372), vitamin B6 (p=0,621) antara remaja vegetarian dan non-vegetarian. Ada perbedaan riwayat sindrom pramenstruasi keluarga (p=0,004) pada kelompok vegetarian (0%) dan nonvegetarian (36,4%). Tidak ada perbedaan aktivitas fisik (p=0,698) antara remeja vegetarian dan nonvegetarian. Setelah dikontrol dengan riwayat sindrom pramenstruasi keluarga, skor sindrom pramenstruasi tetap tidak berbeda (15,4±2,3) untuk vegetarian dan nonvegetarian (16,5±2,3). Simpulan : Tidak ada hubungan  sindrom pramenstruasi antara vegetarian dan nonvegetarian sebelum dan sesudah dikontrol oleh riwayat sindrom pramenstruasi keluarga.
