Abstract

This research was to analyze the reproduction biology of the goldband goatfish in the Sunda Strait as a reference for appropriate and sustainable management. Sampling was collected from April to August 2015. The samples from Sunda Strait were obtained from the fisherman yielded in the Coastal Fishing Port Labuan, Pandeglang, Banten Province. The sample was analyzed in Fisheries Biology Laboratory, Aquatic Resources Management Department, Fisheries and Marine Science Faculty, Bogor Agricultural University. Fish samples were measured, weighed and dissected, then morphologically observed for the reproductive organs. Samples obtained during the research were 811 specimen with the total length of 82-219 mm. Sex ratio among females and males were 1.5:1. The size at first maturity of females and males were 124 mm and 120 mm, respectively. Females were dominated by gonad maturity stage III and I, while for males dominated by gonad maturity stage I and II. Based on the composition of the TKG and IKG values each month, spawning season of the goldband goatfish in the Sunda Strait occurred in April and August. Fecundity obtained ranged 955-59.356 eggs with partial spawning type.

Abstract

The study aims to determine suitability of floating cage (KJA) culture of grouper fish in Ringgung waters of Lampung. Data were analysed using GIS for spatial analysis at five stations.  There were 10 water quality parameters measured, such as bathimetry, current velocity, water transparency, temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, ammonia, and phosphate. Three suitability criteria, i.e very suitable, suitable, and not suitable were used to determine the suitability of floating cage culture of grouper fish. The results show that from 99.168,5 ha of the total area used for floating cage culture of grouper fish, about 85,94% covering 8522,16 ha were classified as very suitable, 5,64% covering 559,69 ha classified as suitable, and  8,42% covering 835 ha classified as not suitable.                                     Keywords : grouper culture, suitability, Ringgung waters, Lampung Province, GIS

Abstract

This research describing about the estimation of carrying capacity of water environment against cultivation activities, whereas the type of fish that has been cultivated was grouper fish. Organic waste estimation and carrying capacity of water environment prediction were used to analyze this research. This research resulting that waste loads from cultivation activities were equal to 1.04 kg N/ day/ unit and the estimation of anthropogenic waste loads were 20.56 kg N/ day. Based on approach of waste loads N, carrying capacity of water environment of Semak Daun Island against cultivation activities is 114 units of floating net cages. Assumed a unit of floating net produce of 300 kg of fish, it acquired 28.20 tonnes of fish production can was accommodated.

Abstract

Daya dukung perairan dangkal Semak Daun dikaji secara keseluruhan melalui pendekatan beban P dan produktivitas primer. Kajian tersebut didasarkan pada dua bagian penyusun perairan yang berbeda batimetrinya, yaitu reef flat (281,89 ha) dan goba (9,9 ha). Selain itu, daya dukung perairan juga dikaji berdasarkan kelayakannya bagi budidaya keramba jaring apung/KJA (9,9 ha), sistem sekat (2 ha), sistem kandang (40,7 ha), dan sea ranching (262 ha). Daya dukung bagi pengembangan perikanan secara total adalah 652 ton/th. Daya dukung ini bagi daerah reef flat adalah 389,52 ton/th dan bagi daerah goba 262,94 ton/th. Dilihat dari jenis aktivitas perikanannya, daya dukung perairan Semak Daun bagi pengembangan KJA sebesar 78,17 ton/th, sistem sekat daya dukungnya 2,94 ton/th, sistem kandang sebesar 59,79 ton/th, dan daya dukung bagi pengembangan sea ranching sebesar 589,32 ton/th. Sementara itu, berdasarkan daya dukung perairan bagi sea ranching maka daya dukung bagi ikan kerapu adalah 5,112 ton/th. Dengan kata lain, kepadatan optimal kerapu macan (Epinephelus fusgoguttatus) di perairan sea ranching Semak Daun adalah 0,02 ton ha-1.Kata kunci: Epinephelus fusgoguttatus, daya dukung, sea ranching, Semak Daun

Abstract

There are several option management measures in preventing sustainability stock of the blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus), i.e., nursery ground conservation. Thus, the objective of this study was to analyses habitat characteristic and its population biology in the PGN marine embayment of Labuhan Maringgai, as one among crab habitat essential in East Lampung coastal water. The potential nursery ground conservation was assessed by habitat suitability index, carrying capacity, distribution and abundance as well as crabs size. The result shows that environmental condition was still suitable, even though the habitat carrying capacity tend to degraded by an increasing of turbidity and sedimentation at the embayment mouth. The crabs captured were also not representing of peak abundance season and recruitment during sampling period, while those crab size almost 100% under Lm50. The strategic management directive is required to control in utilization of crab?s essential habitat, including crab fishing by any fishing gear resulted undersize captured crabs. Meanwhile, to propose habitat essential conservation might need more consideration and comprehensive study, including social economic and cultural aspects and co-management approach may be required in management measure applied.

Abstract

Enggano Island is one of the small outer island in Indonesia. The development of fisheries activity is aimed at optimizing the utilization of fisheries and marine resources through strengthening fishermans independence in fishing effort by still focus on resource sustainability. This study aims to analyze the potential of catch fisheries in North Bengkulu District and describe its development potential in Enggano Island. The data used is secondary data and the analysis used are descriptive, regional economic concentration (LQ) and potential analysis. The results show that North Bengkulu is categorized as very potential for the development of catch fisheries, especially small pelagic fish, demersal fish, hard-skinned fish, soft fish, and other aquatic fishes, with production value 13.59% of the value of catch fisheries production Bengkulu Province. The production of catch fisheries of Enggano Island is 27.89% of catch fisheries production in North Bengkulu and crab is a potential species because it is only produced in Enggano Island and not other sub-districts in North Bengkulu, with production about 19.4% of crab production in Bengkulu Province.

Abstract

ABSTRAKBelangkas Tachypleus tridentatus adalah salah satu hewan bentik laut yang menghuni perairan pesisir Balikpapan Timur. Informasi tentang populasi belangkas di lokasi masih terbatas, dan IUCN secara luas mengklasifikasikannya dalam kategori data deficient. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kepastian taksonomi secara genetik dan sebaran T. tridentatus di perairan pesisir Balikpapan Timur. Belangkas diperoleh menggunakan alat tangkap nelayan setempat (dogol - sejenis pukat dan jaring insang) di daerah Teritip dan Manggar, masing-masing pada jarak sekitar 1 dan 2 mil dari garis pantai. Pengambilan belangkas dilakukan mulai Januari hingga Maret 2018 pada fase bulan berbeda. Belangkas yang tertangkap dihitung dan dicatat lokasi penangkapannya serta diamati karakter morfologinya untuk analisis sebaran dan sebagian belangkas diambil darahnya untuk analisis kepastian taksonomi dengan menggunakan penanda gen CO1. Karakter morfologi utama berupa telson yang berbentuk segitiga dan duri kecil yang banyak terdapat pada ophisthosoma, secara genetis menunjukkan bahwa jenis yang dikumpulkan adalah T. tridentatus. Sebagian besar belangkas yang ditemukan di lokasi penelitian adalah belangkas dewasa yang menyebar secara acak, dengan lebar prosoma berkisar antara 22,5 hingga 30,5 cm untuk jantan dan 28,5 hingga 37,5 cm untuk betina. Jumlah belangkas terbanyak ditemukan di daerah Teritip dan berdasarkan fase bulan terjadi pada kuarter ketiga. Penelitian ini menguatkan kepastian adanya jenis T. tridentatus di lokasi penelitian dengan ciri yang mudah dikenali serta konektivitas pergerakan T. tridentatus ke lokasi lain di sekitar perairan Balikpapan Timur. ABSTRACTThe tri-spine horseshoe crab Tachypleus tridentatus is one of marine benthic animals inhabiting East Balikpapan coastal waters. Information on horseshoe crab population in the location is still limited and IUCN broadly classifies the crab in deficient data category. This study was aimed at elucidating the taxonomic certainty genetically and distribution of T. tridentatus in coastal waters of East Balikpapan. The crabs were collected by local gear of fisherman (dogol ? a trawl like fishing-gear and gill net) in the Teritip and Manggar areas, each at a distance of 1 and 2 miles from coastline. Collecting takes place between January to March 2018 at different moon phases, location, number and morphological characters of the crabs was recorded and blood was taken from some individuals. Primary morphological characters in the form of triangular shape of telson and abundant tiny spines on ophisthosoma, genetically ascertained that the collected crab is T. tridentatus. Most of these crabs found was adult and randomly dispersed; with the width of prosoma ranged from 22.5 to 30.5 cm for males and 28.5 to 37.5 cm for females. The highest number of crab was found in the Teritip area and in the third quarter moon phase. This study reinforce the certainty of T. tridentatus in the study site with easily recognized morphological characters and the connectivity with other sites around Eastern Balikpapan waters.

Abstract

ABSTRACTSquid captured in the waters of Bangka Regency has grown, both with traditional and modern fishing gear. Fishing gear used consisted of squid jigging and stationary lift net. Squid fisheries in this water have not been well managed as evidenced by the tendency of squid production decreased in Sungailiat Fishing Port 17.59% per year in the period 2010-2013, the number of outside fishers who caught squid and rampant illegal tin mining in coastal waters. This study aims to determine the optimal level of squid resource management in the waters of Bangka based on biological and economic aspects. The analysis used is Schnute bio-economic models because it is more appropriate to estimate squid stock in this water. The results showed squid resources utilized in this water was overfishing, both biologically and economically since 2010 in which the production rate for the year has been 116.12% of MEY and 115.94% of MSY. Optimal production levels at MEY conditions are 767.13 tons per year with efforts 5,544 trips per year. The production level at MSY conditions are 768.33 tons per year and the efforts 5,733 fishing trips per year.Keywords: Bangka Regency waters, MEY, MSY, overfishing, squid fisheries-------ABSTRAKPenangkapan cumi-cumi di perairan Kabupaten Bangka telah berkembang, baik dengan alat tradisional maupun modern. Alat tangkap yang digunakan terdiri dari squid jigging dan bagan tancap. Perikanan cumi-cumi di perairan ini belum dikelola dengan baik seperti terlihat dari kecenderungan produksi cumi-cumi di PPN Sungailiat yang menurun 17,59% per tahun pada periode 2010 ? 2013, banyaknya nelayan luar yang menangkap cumi dan maraknya penambangan timah illegal di perairan pesisir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan tingkat pengelolaan sumberdaya cumi-cumi yang optimal di perairan Kabupaten Bangka berdasarkan aspek biologi dan aspek ekonomi. Analisis yang digunakan yaitu model bio-ekonomi Schnute karena lebih sesuai untuk menduga stok cumi-cumi di perairan ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemanfaatan sumberdaya cumi-cumi di perairan ini sudah mengalami tangkap lebih baik secara biologi maupun ekonomi sejak tahun 2010. Dimana tingkat produksi pada tahun tersebut sudah mencapai 116,12% dari MEY dan 115,94 dari MSY. Tingkat produksi optimal pada kondisi MEY yaitu 767,13 ton/tahun dengan upaya tangkap 5.544 trip/tahun. Adapun pada kondisi MSY, tingkat produksi 768,33 ton per tahun dan upaya tangkap 5.733 trip per tahun.Kata kunci: perairan Kabupaten Bangka, MEY, MSY, tangkap lebih, perikanan cumi-cumi

Abstract

Coral reef ecosystems have many benefits including protect the coast from strong waves and currents and are important in maintaining the ecological system in these waters as habitat, spawning grounds, shelter and food sources for marine biota such as ascidians, sponge, echinoderms, mollusks, and fish. The diversity of reef fishes on the east coast of Biak Island is one of the important resources used as a source of income or food source by residents who earn a living as fishermen. This study aims to analyze the relationship between coral communities and coral reef fish communities on the east coast of Biak Island, Biak Numfor Regency. Observations were done by diving using SCUBA equipment. Observation of the condition of the coral reefs used the PIT (Point Intercept Transect) method and coral reef fish worked by the UVC (Underwater Visual Census) method. Data analysis was running by the Spearman test analysis. The results showed that changes in coral community cover affect reef fish communities. This study concludes that there is an association between coral communities and coral reef fish communities that have a positive linear relationship.

Abstract

Development of green mussel culture currently still requires the determination of strategies in accordance with the potential and conditions of coastal areas as well as management culture system. This research aims to formulate strategies of the utilization coastal waters for green mussel culture in coastal Kuala Langsa, Aceh Province. Data collected to identify internal factors and external, including primary and secondary data, while the determination of respondents using purposive sampling method. SWOT Analysis is used for strategy determined while prioritizing strategy using Quantitative Strategies Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis. Based on SWOT analysis, identified 9 strength factors, 4 weakness factors, 6 opportunity factors, and 5 threat factors and 8 strategies, then the priority of strategies is determined with QSPM analysis, the sequence of the most important priority is: counseling and training to improve the management of green mussel culture for coastal communities (WO1); green mussel culture can be integrated with the involvement of coastal communities as stakeholders (WO2); optimization of coastal waters for green mussel culture is supported by ecology conditions (SO1); green mussel culture can be done with longline method with a density of 20 individuals/basket 5.30 l (SO3); site selection for culture and spat collection of green mussel should consider coastal oceanographic factors (ST1); controlling the level of waste disposal from the mainland so as not to pollute coastal areas (ST2); and to formulate practical guidance of management of green mussel culture based on the food security principle.
