Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (Higher Order Thinking Skills/HOTS) siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA berdasarkan indikator yang telah disusun. Kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dalam penelitian ini meliputi kemampuan logika dan penalaran, analisis, evaluasi, serta kreasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data meliputi metode dokumentasi, tes, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian dari 30 siswa yang tersebar di beberapa SMP di Kabupaten Jember didapatkan bahwa 18 siswa mampu melakukan kemampuan logika dan penalaran, analisis, evaluasi, serta kreasi dengan baik dalam menyelesaikan beberapa soal, sehingga tergolong memiliki kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dengan level sedang. Selanjutnya, 12 siswa tidak mampu melakukan kemampuan analisis, evaluasi, kreasi, logika dan penalaran dengan baik dalam menyelesaikan semua soal, sehingga tergolong memiliki kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dengan level rendah.Kata kunci: PISA, kemampuan logika dan penalaran, kemampuan analisis, evaluasi, kreasi THE  HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT JEMBER DISTRICT IN SOLVING PISA STANDAR-BASED TEST ITEMAbstractThe purpose of this research was to describe the higher order thinking skills of students in solving PISA standar-based test item based on indicators that had been compiled. The indicators in this research were the ability of logic and reasoning, analysis, evaluation, and creation. This research is a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection methods in this research were documentation, test, and interview. From 30 students spread across many Junior High Scoolls in Jember district, 18 students are found to be able to perform logic skills and reasoning, analysis, evaluation, and creation well in resolving some of the problems, thus classified as having high level thinking skills with moderate level. Furthermore, 12 students are not able to perform analytical skills, evaluation, creation, logic and reasoning well in solving all the problems, so they are considered to have low level high order thinking skill.Keywords: PISA, logic and reasoning, analysis, evaluation, creation skills

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpkir kritis siswa kelas V SD di sekitar perkebunan kopi Garahan Jember melalui penerapan model pembelajaran math-science berbasis performance assessment. Kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan pembuktian, kemampuan generalisasi, dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Data dianalisis dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Uji coba penelitian ini diterapkan pada dua SD di sekitar perkebunan kopi yaitu MI Al ?Amin Garahan dan SD Negeri Sidomulyo 03 Jember dengan subyek penelitian sebanyak 80 siswa. Data diperoleh dari hasil kinerja siswa selama mengerjakan post test pada materi math-science dan wawancara. Pada siklus pertama terdapat 8 siswa (10%) yang memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan generalisasi dan pembuktian, sedangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah belum berkembang dengan maksimal. Pada siklus kedua terdapat peningkatan, yaitu terdapat 22 siswa (27.5%) yang mampu memiliki kemampuan pembuktian dan kemampuan generalisasi. Pada siklus ketiga terdapat 32 siswa (40%) yang mampu memiliki semua kemampuan berpikir kritis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.Kata kunci: math-science, performance assessment, kemampuan berpikir kritis THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MATH-SCIENCE LEARNING MODEL BASED ON PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT TO IMPROVE STUDENTS? CRITICAL THINKING SKILL IN JEMBER COFFEE PLANTATION AREAAbstractThe research is aimed t knowing the improvement of the critical thinking skills of the fifth grade students in Garahan Coffee plantation area through the implementation math-science learning model based on performance assessment. In this research, the critical thinking skills include proof skill, generalization skill, and problem solving skill. Data were analized by quantitative and qualitative approach. This research was implemented to two elementary schools in Garahan coffee plantation area, namely MI Al-Amin Garahan and SD Negeri Sidomulyo 03 Jember, with 80 students as the subject. Data were obtained from the result of students? post test on math-science and interview. In the first trial, there are 8 students (10%) who comply with all indicators of generalization and proof skills, while the problem solving skill has not optimally been developed. The result of the second trial has increased to 22 students (27.5%) who have proof and generalization skills. The third trial shows that 32 students (40%) comply with all indicators of critical thinking skills, namely proof, generalization, and problem solving skills. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that there is improvement on students? critical thinking skill.Keywords: math-science, performance assessment, critical thinking skill

Abstract

The Mathematics students who perform truth-seeking process upon solving mathematical problems were unique. Therefore, the study deems it necessary to know students? mental structure and mechanism so that they can make the right decision by performing truth-seeking. However, no research has delved into the mental structures and mechanisms of Mathematics students, who tend to grapple with truth-seeking processes extensively. This study was explorative qualitative because the aims to describe the types of mental structure and mechanism of Mathematics students upon the truth-seeking process in solving mathematical problems. The research subjects are four Mathematics students at the University of Jember who perform truth-seeking and can communicate fluently when performing think-aloud. Their responses in the answer sheets drove the determination of research subjects' tendency in truth-seeking. Afterward, the results of think-aloud and task-based interview were put under analysis, so as to determine the types of mental structure and mechanism. The research findings have indicated that (1) all mental structures have been constructed by all research subjects and (2) two types of mental mechanism are evident among the subjects, including the process of interiorization coupled with coordination and another process encompassing interiorization, coordination, and reversal.

Abstract

Desa Arjasari dikenal dengan desa yang kaya akan kekayaan alamnya. Salah satu komoditas yang diunggulkan pada kekayaan alam desa tersebut adalah jagung manis. Namun pemanfaatan hasil panen jagung manis ini belum maksimal karena masih terbatas pada penjualan hasil panen pada tengkulak dan produk olahan tradisional. Oleh karenanya perlu dilakukan upaya peningkatan nilai guna dari jagung manis di Desa Arjasari, salah satunya dengan membuat produk olahan yang mempunyai nilai ekonomi lebih tinggi dan menarik untuk dipasarkan dalam bentuk emping JUBIKA (Jagung Kulit Biji kakao). Tujuan dari program pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah transfer teknologi tepat guna pengolahan jagung manis menjadi produk olahan yang memiliki nilai ekonomi yang lebih tinggi sehingga dapat meningkatkan nilai guna jagung manis, memperpanjang umur simpan, dan berpotensi memberikan kontribusi kepada masyarakat baik petani jagung manis maupun pengolahan makanan dalam bentuk margin ekonomi. Metode pendekatan dilakukan melalui pendekatan partisipasif dengan kegiatan survey lokasi dan potensi desa, pelatihan baik teori atau praktek, monitoring dan evaluasi, dan persiapan pemasaran. Dari kegiatan yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa masyarakat desa Arjasari kecamatan Arjasari kabupaten Bandung terutama Ibu-ibu PKK, petani jagung manis, tokoh masyarakat, dan Karang Taruna menyambut baik kegiatan PPMD bertopik pembuatan JUBIKA, pengembangan olahan berbahan baku jagung ke depan dinilai memungkinkan karena ditunjang kesediaan bahan baku jagung manis di desa tersebut dan pada kegiatan PPM tahun berikut akan dilaksanakan pengembangan untuk produk olahan singkong dan pisang yang merupakan produk khas daerah setempat.

Abstract

The trends of teaching mathematical thinking and the existence of two thinking skills (critical dan creative thinking) the required by 21st-century skills have created needs for teachers to know their students? thinking processes. This study is intended to portray how mathematics teachers expect their students showing their thinking processes in students? written work. The authors surveyed Whatsapp and Telegram group of mathematics teachers. First, the authors shared the result of the literature review and the governmental regulations about the need to develop thinking skills. Second, the authors stated that the potentials of students? written works as a tool for knowing students? thinking processes. Third, the authors sent a simple mathematical problem with the topic of algebra and asked the mathematics teachers how should their students answer that problem such that they can easily monitor and assess their students? thinking processes. A total of 25 teachers participated voluntarily in this survey. Results of the survey were triangulated with direct trial data in lecture classes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The result indicates that participating mathematics teachers do not expect too much for their students to show their thinking processes in written work. Teacher?s focus is mostly on the accuracy and the correctness of their students? mathematics answer.

Abstract

AbstrakFokus dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan suatu perangkat pembelajaran matematika SMP dengan menerapkan sistem Character Based Integrated Learning yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Perangkat pembelajaran tersebut meliputi RPP, LKS, Buku Siswa dan Instru-men Penilaian. Pada sistem Character Based Integrated Learning, kegiatan belajar meng-ajar mengacu pada 9 pilar karakter anak. Prosedur pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tahap pendefinisian (define), perancangan (de-sign), dan pengembangan (develop) dengan mengacu pada kriteria kevalidan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan. RPP, LKS, dan Buku Siswa yang dihasilkan pada penelitian ini memenuhi kriteria kevalidan dengan skor validasi berturut-turut adalah 3.73, 4, dan 4 dengan skala 1-4. Selain itu, perangkat pembelajaran tersebut juga memenuhi kriteria kepraktisan karena  85% siswa dan guru menyatakan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran praktis digunakan ketika uji keterbacaan. Serta memenuhi kriteria keefektifan karena terdapat 90% siswa tuntas terhadap hasil belajar dan 80% siswa berkarakter baik. Kata Kunci: Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Matematika, Sistem Character Based Integrated Learning  AbstractThe focus of this research is to develop a set of mathematical learning SMP system by implementing Character -Based Integrated Learning valid, practical, and effective. The learning device includes lesson plans, worksheets, Student Book and Instrument. In Character Based Integrated Learning systems, learning activities refer to the 9 pillars of character kids. Learning software development procedures used in this study is the definition phase (define), design (design), and development (develop) with reference to the criteria of validity, practicality and effectiveness. Lesson plans, worksheets, and books produced by students in this study meets the criteria for the validity of the validation scores are respectively 3.73, 4, and 4. In addition, the learning device also meets the criteria of practicality because 85 % of students and teachers stated that the practical learning is used when the test readability. And meet the criteria of effectiveness because there are 90 % of students completed the study and 80 % student’s result of good character. Keywords: Teaching Material Development; Character Based Integrated Learning System.

Abstract

Abstrak. Pengembangan model pembelajaran analisis real yang melibatkan sistem teknologi informasi global secara praktis perlu dilakukan. Khususnya kegiatan yang beorientasi pada aktivitas belajar mahasiswa untuk peningkatan pemahaman materi analisis real melalui pemanfaatan e-learning yang berisi bahan ajar elektronik. Sehingga mahasiswa tidak hanya mendapatkan materi kuliah pada saat di kelas saja tetapi juga dimana dan kapan saja. Adapun tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses pengembangan dan efektifitas penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis web dalam bentuk e-learning untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa pada matakuliah analisis real. Tahapan kegiatan pengembangan model pembelajaran berbentuk e-learning pada mata kuliah Analisis Real meliputi: (1) persiapan, (2) pelaksanaan, dan (3) analisis hasil kegiatan publikasi dan implementasi model pembelajaran elektronik di e-learning. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah (1) Kegiatan pengembangan model pembelajaran analisis real berbasis web dalam bentuk e-learning dilakukan pada materi sifat kelengkapan dari bilangan real dengan 1 (satu) kali tugas dan UAS untuk semua materi yang dipelajari selama satu semester, dan (2) Aktivitas dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah analisis real berbasis web dalam bentuk e-learning meningkat. Masing-masing terdapat 92,5% mahasiswa kelas A dan kelas B yang tuntas pada tes hasil belajar melalui pelaksanaan UAS pada matakuliah analisis real dalam bentuk e-learning. Kata Kunci : Pembelajaran e-learning, Analisis Real, Aktivitas dan prestasi belajar.

Abstract

Abstract. The research aims to know process and result of developing of mathematics learning aids based on creativity with realistic mathematics education approach for similarity sub topic at ninth grade junior high school. The research development modle refers to 4D Thiagarajan models. The subject of research is students of IX-A class SMPN 11 Jember in even semester academic year 2013-2014. The data of research are obtained by validation sheet, observation sheet of teacher and students activities, and observation sheet of character.The product of this research are lesson plan, studenthandbook, and worksheet.The validity of those product consecutively are 4; 4,5; 4,05. The average percentage of teacher activity is 82% and 90%, student activity is 82% and 80%.The result shows that the learning instruments qualifies validity, practical, but not effective criteria. The reason is not effective because creative character of the students only 41% and 31%. Keywords:Realistic Mathematics Education,Creative Character, Learning

Abstract

Abstract. The research aims to know process and result of developing of mathematics learning aids based on creativity and Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach for cylinder and cone sub topics at ninth grade of junior high school. The research development model refers to modified of 4D Thiagarajan models. The subject of research is students of IXB class at SMPN 1 Jember in odd semester academic year 2013-2014. The data of research are obtained by validation sheet, observation sheet of teacher and students activities, observation sheet of student creativity development and student skill,student worksheet, and self assesment sheet. The product of this research are lesson plan, student handbook, and worksheet. The result shows that the learning instruments qualifies validity, practical, and effective criteria. The percentage of student creativity based on the data of observation sheet of student creativity development and self assesment sheet is 70,67%, it means that in general students at IXB class have a good creativity at learning cylinder and cone subs topic. Abstract

Abstract. The research aims to describe the students’ thinking process of 9th grade of Junior High School in solving the open problem according to their capability in solving problem based on Polya’s solution step. Data analysis is done based on written test and interview techniques. The subject of research is students of IXA class at SMPN 7 Jember in odd semester academic year 2013-2014. The data of research are obtained by validation sheet, written test, and interview techniques. Students experience disequilibrium when they don’t understand about the qestion’s sentence and when she can’t determine the ways to solve the problem, also when she can’t determine the ways to check the result that has already gotten when she does the plans. Students experience assimilation when they can mention what is known and what is asked  from the problems immediately without reck of true or false, also when  they can determine the ways to solve the problems and when they are doing the computations. Students experience accomodation when they are quiet and confuse before they can determine the problem’s condition, also when she is doing the computation and when she is quite before she can determine the ways to solve the problem. Students experience assimilation and accomodation to reach the equilibrium phase. Key Words: thinking process, open problem, and Polya’s solution step.
