Abstract

This study aimed to analyse the relation of nutritional status, physical activity or oxidative stress with cognitive function of pre-elderly and elderly. A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted on 40 pre-elderly and 35 elderly subjects who were admitted to the Integrated Development Post Program (Posbindu) between September 2014 and January 2015. Anthropometric measurements (weight and height), physical activity, and biochemical data (oxidized low-density lipoprotein[Ox-LDL] and serum malondialdehyd [MDA]) were obtained. Nutritional status was assessed through body mass index (BMI), while the cognitive function was measured by Rey Osterrieth Complex Figure (ROCF) and Digit Span Backward. The data were analysed using an independent t-test and Spearman?s test with a confidence level of 95%. The study showed that the prevalence of malnutrition among the pre-elderly and elderly were 60.0% and 80.0%, respectively. Concerning physical activity, those who belonged to inactive-sedentary activity based on physical activity level (PAL) ratio were 55.0% and 45.7%, respectively. There were no significant differences in Ox-LDL, MDA levels and cognitive function (p>0.05). Significant negative correlations existed between Ox-LDL and immediate visual memory function (r=-0.289; p<0.05), as well as between Ox-LDL and delayed visual memory function (r=-0.288; p<0.05). The conclusion that visual memory function was only correlated with Ox-LDL.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a functional beverage for patients with prehypertension. Raja Bulu banana (Musa paradisiaca L.) and Wilis variety of soy beans (Glycine max L.) are used as ingredients for functional beverages production. This study used a completely randomized design and the treatments were given in three formulas with different proportion of soy milk (mL) and banana (g), namely F1 (1000:250), F2 (1000:350), and F3 (1000:500). The results of Kruskal-Wallis test showed that the average preference of colour, flavor, taste, and viscosity characteristics among the three formulas were not significantly different (p>0.05). The most preferred functional beverage formula was F3, chosen by 88.00% of panelists. One serving size (300 mL) of F3 functional beverage contained 149 kcal energy, 34.68 g carbohydrates, 1.91 g protein, 0.24 g fat, 3.95 g dietary fiber, 26.76 g total sugars, 7.00 mg sodium, 401.20 mg potassium, 13.84 mg calcium and 42.16 mg magnesium. Therefore, the product is potential to be a functional beverage alternatives, especially for prehypertension patients.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of life style and food consumption to blood pressure among elderly in Posbindu Al-Wusto in Bogor District. The study design was cross-sectional study. Subjects were consisted of eight men and 31 women from Posbindu Al-Wusto in Bogor District. The result showed most subject had hypertension (64.1%). There was no significant relationship between life style (smoking, coffee consumption, and exercise) with blood pressure (p>0.05). There was significantly negative relationship between hypertension preventive food (broccoli and sunflower seeds) and hypertension triggering food (crackers and salted fish) with systolic blood pressure (p<0.05). There was significantly positive food high blood pressure induce (boiled fish) with systolic blood pressure (p<0.05).Keywords: blood pressure, elderly, food consumption, life styleABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan gaya hidup dan konsumsi pangan dengan tekanan darah pada lansia di Posbindu Al-Wusto Kabupaten Bogor. Desain penelitian ini adalah cross-sectional. Subjek terdiri atas delapan orang laki-laki dan 31 orang perempuan dari Posbindu Al-Wusto Kabupaten Bogor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar subjek (64,1%) mempunyai hipertensi. Tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara gaya hidup (merokok, konsumsi kopi, dan olahraga) dengan tekanan darah (p>0,05). Terdapat hubungan signifikan negatif antara pangan pencegah (brokoli dan biji bunga matahari) dan pangan pemicu (crackers dan ikan asin) dengan tekanan darah sistolik (p<0,05). Terdapat hubungan signifikan positif antara pangan pemicu (ikan pindang) dengan tekanan darah sistolik (p<0,05).Kata kunci: gaya hidup, konsumsi pangan, lansia, tekanan darah

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to analyze factors related to fruits and vegetables consumption of elementary school children in Bogor. The design of this study was cross-sectional with purposive sampling. A total of 108 children in SDN Cibanteng 01 in rural area and SDN Papandayan in urban area. Children consumption of fruits and vegetables in SDN Papandayan was higher than SDN Cibanteng. There were significant differences between children consumption of fruits based on ethnic and mother`s job (p<0.05). Children knowledge of nutrition and education of father and mother significantly positive associated with children consumption of fruits and vegetables, as well as pocket money, availability of fruits in house, and family income positive significantly associated with children consumption of fruits (p<0.05).Keywords: children, consumption, fruits and vegetables, socio-economicABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan konsumsi buah dan sayur pada anak usia sekolah dasar di Bogor. Desain penelitian ini adalah cross sectional dengan teknik penarikan subjek secara purposive sebanyak 108 subjek di dua sekolah dasar di Bogor yaitu SDN Cibanteng 01 Kabupaten Bogor dan SDN Papandayan Kota Bogor. Konsumsi buah dan sayur di SDN Papandayan lebih besar dibandingkan dengan SDN Cibanteng. Terdapat perbedaan yang nyata konsumsi buah anak berdasarkan suku dan pekerjaan ibu (p<0,05). Pengetahuan gizi anak dan pendidikan ayah dan ibu berhubungan signifikan positif dengan konsumsi buah dan sayur anak, demikian pula uang saku, ketersediaan buah, dan pendapatan keluarga berhubungan signifikan positif dengan konsumsi buah anak (p<0,05).Kata kunci: anak, buah dan sayur, konsumsi, sosial-ekonomi

Abstract

The Government of West Lampung District issued Social Forestry Program to address forest degradation problem that caused by illegal logging. Therefore, nutritional carrying capacity of Social Forestry was important to be analyzed to understand the advantage of Social Forestry for farmer. The objectives of this research were to 1) analyze the characteristics of farmer household, 2) analyze the commodity diversity of Social Forestry, 3) analyze nutritional carrying capacity of Social Forestry.The sample was 90 Social Forestry?s farmer households chosen by using purposive sampling method.  The result of the research shows that almost all samples are small family which has elementary school-education-level and are Sundanese and Javanese.The average size of land organizing of Social Forestry each household is 1.3 ha ranged 0.25-4 ha.  The commodity diversity organized by the farmer household (52.2%) is included in low category with ?12 commodities. The average nutritional carrying capacity of Social Forestry is 2 754 kcal/cap/day. More than half (67.8%) of the sample has reach nutritional carrying capacity? 90% of ideal nutritional requirement.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to identify and to analyze behaviour of school-food vendor related to nutrition and food safety in Jakarta and Sukabumi. This research used secondary data from Survey ?National Monitoring and Verification Food Safety of Elementary Student Street-food 2008? by SEAFAST and BPOM RI. The subjects of this research are 79 school-food vendors in Jakarta and 29 school-food vendors in Sukabumi. Descriptive statistical method is used to process all the data. Most of the subjects were elementary school graduated (46.3%) and used handcart as tool for sale of street-foods (31.5%). Only 35.2% had attended a food safety education/training program. As the result of it, 48.1% of the subjects had sufficient nutrition and food safety knowledge. There were significant differentiation of nutrition and food safety knowledge between the subjects which had been classified by vendor group, level of education, and participation in food safety education/ training program. As many as 74.1% of the subjects lack of food safety practices. There were significant differentiation of food safety practices between the subjects which had been classified by vendor group, region, and level of education. Spearman?s correlative test shows that there a positive correlation between level of education with nutrition and food safety knowledge, level of education with food safety practices. Pearson correlative test shows that there was no significant correlation between nutrition and food safety knowledge with food safety practices.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to know the correlation between nutrition and health knowledge, behavior of healthy life, and physical characteristic of the house towards health sighs of public transportation driver. Design of this study was a cross sectional study. The criterions of sample were (1) driver of Kampus Dalam and Leuwiliang route; (2) man; (3) age more than 30 years old; (4) had been worked as public transportation driver more than 2 years; (5) can communicate and ready for having an interview. The amount of sample is 60 respondents. The type of data was primary and secondary data. The primary data (individual and family characteristic, nutrition and health knowledge, life style, pattern of food consumption, behavior of healthy life, physical characteristic of the house, and health sighs of the driver) was collected by structural questionnaire interview. The body weight and height data were collected by direct measurement on the study sites. The secondary data had been obtained from ?Dinas Perhubungan? of Bogor District. This study showed that nutrition and health knowledge, behavior of healthy life, and physical characteristic of the house did not correlate to health sighs of the public transportation driver. The correlation was analyzed by Spearman?s correlation.

Abstract

Anemia merupakan masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang masih umum dijumpai. Sebagian besar anemia pada ibu hamil disebabkan oleh defisiensi zat besi. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan menganalisis kecukupan dan bioavailabilitas asupan zat besi pada ibu hamil di Kota Tangerang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional. Wawancara mengenai konsumsi pangan dilakukan kepada 91 orang ibu hamil pada bulan Februari sampai Juni 2015 menggunakan food frequency questionnaire semi-kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 97,8% ibu hamil memiliki tingkat kecukupan zat besi yang berada dalam kategori kurang. Seluruh ibu hamil memiliki bioavailabilitas besi dalam kategori rendah. Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara frekuensi konsumsi nasi (p=0,000), kacang-kacangan (p=0,000), dan lauk hewani (p=0,028) dengan tingkat kecukupan zat besi ibu hamil. Frekuensi konsumsi lauk hewani (p=0,006), sayuran dan buah-buahan (p=0,004) secara signifikan berhubungan positif dengan bioavailabilitas besi ibu hamil, frekuensi konsumsi nasi (p=0,000) dan kacang-kacangan (p=0,000) secara signifikan berhubungan negatif dengan bioavailabilitas besi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya pendidikan gizi tentang konsumsi gizi seimbang selama kehamilan dan perlunya suplementasi besi sebagai bagian dari program pencegahan anemia defisiensi besi pada ibu hamil.

Abstract

Prevalensi anemia pada remaja putri masih tetap tinggi. Program suplementasi besi untuk remaja putri bertujuan menurunkan prevalensi anemia, tetapi hasilnya tidak selalu sukses. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektivitas program suplementasi besi pada remaja putri di Kota Bogor. Desain yang digunakan yakni quasi experiment pre-post intervensi pada study effectiveness. Penelitian berlangsung dari September 2016 sampai Januari  2017 bersama Dinas Kesehatan Kota Bogor. Jumlah subyek penelitian yakni 172 remaja putri usia (10-18 tahun)  dari 4 sekolah. Pengambilan darah di ujung jari untuk menguji kadar hemoglobin subjek dianalisis menggunakan metode cyanmethemoglobin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan prevalensi anemia (Hb <12g/dl) sebelum program 20.7% dan menurun menjadi 15.2% setelah 4 bulan intervensi. Hasil analisis regresi logistik menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang mempengaruhi peningkatan kadar Hb, yakni status Hb awal (p<0.05;OR=3.52;CI95%=1.40-8.85). Program suplementasi besi pada remaja putri di Kota Bogor belum berjalan secara efektif.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to learn mother?s food parenting practices and school-age children?s preference and consumption of vegetables and fruits. Design of this study was a cross-sectional with purposive sampling of 108 school-age children in SDN Cibanteng 1 in rural and SDN Papandayan in urban, Bogor District. Hedonic scale and semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire were used for measure preference and consumption of vegetables and fruits. Mothers in rural had higher score in three components of food parenting practices (mother?s role in feeding, mother?s control in child?s eating, and family eating habits) than mothers in urban. Mothers in urban had higher score in one component of food parenting practices (family eating habits of vegetables and fruits) than mothers in rural. Vegetables consumption in urban (68.5±31.6 g/day) was higher than rural (45.4±18.7 g/day). Children?s fruits consumption in urban (166.5±67.7 g/day) was higher than rural (106.9±43.0 g/day).
