Abstract

Employment in the garment industries involves a lot of human resources as workers, especially those in the sewing sector. Workers who work in the garment industry have higher possibility to suffer musculoskeletal disorders compared with those in other industries. Less ergonomic working postures is one of the factors that can affect the quality and quantity  of the tailor?s work. Lack of rest time and nutrition of the workers are also additional factor for the musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue in workers that will ultimately impact to the productivity. Therefore, ergonomic intervention is needed in forms of workplace stretching exercise and giving sweet tea to overcome the condition.   This research was an experimental study using treatment by subject design on 25 samples selected by simple random sampling method. Interventions given were WSE and sweet tea. Data were collected three times before and after intervention with washing out period for one day. The data collected comprised subjective fatigue using questionnaire of 30 items of fatigue, data for the musculoskeletal complaints used questionnaire of nordic body map, and also employ productivity by calculation partial productivity.   Data analysis was done initially by the descriptive analysis with the significance?s level ?=0.05 and the normality data tested with Shapiro-Wilk. Subsequently, the data with normal distribution were analyzed by t-paired, while the data with abnormal distribution analyzed be Wilcoxon test. The results showed, there was decrease of musculoskeletal complaints of 24.98%, decrease of fatigue 27.06%, and increase of labor productivity  66.67% all were significant (p<0.05).   Inconclusion, the ergonomic intervention with WSE and giving sweet tea can improve the physiologic response as shown decrease of fatigue and musculoskeletal complaints as well as increase of labor productivity of the tailors. It is recommended  that the study results be applied by tailors working in garment industry or individually.

Abstract

The activity of traditional dodol stirrer workers is done with standing position. The stirring process is done monotonically and over a long period of 5 hours. This study aims to show that workplace stretching exercise administration and modification of working conditions may decrease musculoskeletal and fatigue complaintas in traditional dodol stirrer workers. The stirring tool (siut) used by the worker does not correspond to anthropomethry, causing a work with a bent position. This study was an experimental study, with the same subject design. Period I subjects were treated with conventional working condition. Period II subjects were treated with workplace stretching exercise administration and improved working conditions in the form of re-design the stirring tool(siut) of the dodol stirrer and active rest. Musculoskeletal complaints were measured by Nordic body map questionnaires on a 4 likert scale, working fatigue using 30 item rating scales. Analysis of the collected data is started with the descriptive analysis and the normality data tested using Shapiro-Wilk. Further, the data that has normal distribution are analyzed using t-paired and the data that has not a normal distribution are analyzed using Wilcoxon test. This study indicated that the administration of workplace stretching exercise and modification of working conditions can decreasing musculoskeletal decline of 18.3 % from the mean 12.67±0.50 to 5.59±0.52 and fatigue decreased by 18.5% from the mean 12.42±1.45 to 5.34±0.66 It can be concluded that the provision of workplace stretching exercise and modification of working condition can decrease musculoskeletal complaintas and fatigue of dodol stirrer workers. So it is advisable for the dodol making industry to applied this technique of exercise to minimize complaints due to the working process of stirring dodol.

Abstract

Problems ergonomics in industrial screen printing traditional fabrics such as work attitude unnatural causing musculoskeletal disorders in workers printing. To overcome these problems, especially for fabric printing activity done by redesigning Rakel research and giving active stretching. The purpose of this study was to know the effects of the using redesigning Rakel and active stretching for the fabric screen printing workers to decrease the workload, musculoskeletal disorders and increased work productivity. The study design is the design of the same subject, involving 12 workers printing male, 20-45 years old, between 1-5 years of work experience. Research into two phases. The first phase (I) subjects treated with Rakel without redesigning work and without giving active stretching. The second phase (II) subjects treated with redesigning work Rakel and giving active stretching. Among the two phases of the study, given a wash out period for 2 days and adaptation redesigning Rakel for 4 days, to eliminate carry-over effects. The workload is measured by the method of pulse 10 beats, musculoskeletal complaints measured by a questionnaire Nordic Body Map at 4 Likert scale and work productivity based on the ratio between output and input. Data were analyzed with the Shapiro-Wilk test to determine the normality of the data, paired t-test to test the significance difference variable workload and productivity of work at the significance level ? = 0.05 and Wilcoxon test for variables musculoskeletal complaints. The results showed that redesigning Rakel and provision of active stretching can reduce the workload of 30,3% (p<0.05) and lower musculoskeletal complaints by 16,9% (p<0.05) as well as increasing work productivity by 45,5% (p <0.05). It concluded that the redesign Rakel and provision of active stretching can reduce the workload and musculoskeletal disorders and increase productivity for workers printing. Suggested to the owner of a similar business industry to make good working conditions referring to ergonomic principles, so as to create safer working conditions, comfortable, healthy and productive workers.

Abstract

Pekerja bagian pencetakan dupa menggunakan kursi tanpa sandaran. Tata letak wadah bahan dupa yang berada di bawah menyebabkan pekerja mengambil dengan sikap membungkuk. Sementara meja tempat dupa yang sudah jadi terlalu pendek, sehingga saat menggelar dupa pekerja cenderung membungkuk. Kondisi ini mengakibatkan keluhan musculoskeletal dan kelelahan meningkat. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah menganalisis perbaikan stasiun kerja serta pemberian peregangan statis dan McKenzie exercise memperbaiki respon fisiologis meningkatkan produktivitas pekerja. Telah dilakukan penelitian pada 10 orang pekerja bagian pencetakan dupa di UD. Manik Galih Tabanan. Perubahan respon fisiologis seperti keluhan musculoskeletal dan kelelahan serta produktivitas diukur dengan kuesioner Nordic Body Map Periode dan 30 Items of Rating Scale. Intervensi dilakukan dengan memperbaiki stasiun kerja dan memberikan peregangan static dan MacKenzie exercise. Perbedaan antara Periode 1 dan Periode 2 dianalisis. Hasil penelitian didapatkan rerata kelelahan akhir Periode 1 adalah 55±1,49 dan pada Periode 2 adalah 36,8±2,89 sehingga menurun secara bermakna sebesar 41,48 % (p<0,05). Rerata keluhan muskuloskeletal setelah bekerja  pada Periode 1 adalah 73,6±4,46 dan Periode 2 adalah 43±4,53 sehingga menurun secara bermakna sebesar 41,57 % (p<0,05). Rerata produktivitas pada Periode 1 diperoleh 0,119±0,038 dan Periode 2 diperoleh 0,198±0,055 yaitu meningkat secara bermakna sebesar 35,80% (p<0,05). Disimpulkan perbaikan kondisi kerja dan kombinasi pemberian peregangan statis dan McKenzie exercise dapat menurunkan respon fisiologis dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja pada pekerja di bagian pencetakan dupa di UD. Abstract

Cassava cutting machine is a tool to cut the cassava into thin sheets with a thickness of 1 to 2 mm. High base of work cassava cutting machine is under worker?s elbow height. So during the work, the workers took the cassava to put into the machine by means of bending and putting cassava to cutting machine one by one until the cassava is cut off. Ergonomics intervention is making an additional pad on cassava cutting machine. The purpose of this research was to prove the effect of adding pad machines and the provision of dynamic stretching at the cutting process of cassava reduce the workload, musculoskeletal disorders, and increasing work productivity at cassava chips industry. Research was conducted by the same design subject (treatment by subjects design) with a sample of nine workers. Workload by measured the pulse of the workers. Musculoskeletal disorders measured by nordic body map questionnaire, and productivity is measured by a comparison between the results of cuts cassava production is divided workload multiplied working time. Data analyzed by t - paired with a significant level of p <0.005. The analysis showed after adding pad machine occurs a significant difference (p <0.05) between before and after treatment: (1) decreases in workload of workers from 102.41 beats per minute become 95.51 beats per minute, (2) decrease musculoskeletal disorders from the average score of 33.56 into 31.56, and (3) increase work productivity from 1.64 to 3.58. It was concluded that the addition of base support and the provision of dynamic stretching at the process of cutting cassava reduce the workload, musculoskeletal disorders, and increasing work productivity in cassava chips industry. It is suggested in the effort to reduce the workload, musculoskeletal disorders, as well as increasing work productivity in cassava cutting workers so it is suggested to addition of base support and do dynamic stretching movements.

Abstract

The development of the property sector bring consequency increasing number of skillfull labour who work in this sector. They work as a conventional management. One of the activity is lifting and carrying building material. Less ergonomic lifting and carrying due to  increasing  in the electrical activity of erector spinae muscle and musculoskeletal complaints among skillfull labours.The aim of the study was to determine that the improvement of lifting and carrying building material may reduce erector spinae muscle electrical activity and musculoskeletal complaints among skillfull labours. This study was using the experimental design extended by treatment by subject design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling, involving 11 males skillfull labour with a mean age of 38.5 ± 7.4 years. The results showed that the average electrical activity of erector spinae muscles in 1stPeriod 36.95 ± 3.85 % and in 1ndperiod 4.10 ± 1.10 % . Statistically, there was a decrease in the electrical activity of erector spinae muscles about 32.85 or 88.90 % with a 95 % CI 30.22 to 35.48 (p=0.000). The mean score of musculoskeletal complaints in 1stPeriod 50.36 ± 2.54 and in 2ndperiod 38.82 ± 4.36. Statistically, there was a decrease in musculoskeletal complaints score 11.54 or 22.92% with a 95 % CI 7.66 to 15.43 (p=0.000).From this research can be concluded that the improvement of lifting-carrying building material  reduce  erector spinae muscle electrical activity 88.90% and musculoskeletal complaints 22.92%  among skillfull labours

Abstract

Screening is ordinary process airport passanger was machine baggage. X-ray radiation gives impact to eye because eye sensitive of radiation. Many kinds of eye strain symptom got by screening worker such eye poignant. It is neressary to give  intervention to decrease the radiation exposure and eye strain for worker by increasing lead shielding on the fluoroscopy machine baggage and setting of worker distance toward the source of radiation.             Experimental research with pre-post test control group design. A sampel of 30 people were taken with a simple randomized method which was subdivided into group 1 as a control group without the additional treatment of lead shielding and working distance regulation of the radiation source, group 2 with the addition of a shielding and setting distance as far as 2 m. the study was conducted in August 2017. The variables evaluated were exposure to the received radiation of workes and the strain of the workers eyes.             The result of the research is a combination of  lead shielding on machine baggage fluoroscopy and setting of working distance to X ray source at X International Ariport significantly (p<0,05) in decreasing radiation exposure received by worker equal to 74,59% and worker eye strain 68,85% for a distance of 1,5 m and decreased radiation exposure to the workers as much as 93, 69% and the eye strain on the worker 89,79% at a distance of 2 m from the radiation source.             Concluded that the combination of increasing lead shielding and the setting of worker distance toward the source of radiation decrease thr radiation exposure and eye strain on the screening worker at X International airport.

Abstract

Karakteristik pengukir kendang tambur dilakukan dengan posisi duduk di lantai, sikap kerja membungkuk selama 8 jam dan 6 hari dalam seminggu. Hal inilah yang memicu timbulnya keluhan pegal yang dirasakan terutama pada bagian punggung bawah. Intervensi dengan pemberian alas duduk berupa matras serta upaya preventif   berupa Mc Kenzie exercise dapat mengurangi ketegangan otot erector spinae dan keluhan muskuloskeletal akibat proses kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan bahwa pemberian alas duduk dan Mc Kenzie exercise dapat menurunkan ketegangan otot dan keluhan muskuloskeletal serta meningkatkan produktivitas pada pengukir kendang tambur di UD. Budi Luhur Gianyar.        Penelitian ini merupakan true eksperimental, dengan rancangan sama subjek. Periode 1 subjek diberi perlakuan dengan kondisi kerja konvensional. Periode 2 subjek diberi perlakuan dengan pemberian alas duduk berupa matras dan Mc Kenzie exercise. Di antara ke dua tahap tersebut, diberikan washing out period dan adaptasi. Ketegangan otot erector spinae diukur dengan alat ­Surface Electromyography (SEMG), keluhan muskuloskeletal diukur dengan kuesioner Nordic Body Map dan produktivitas berdasarkan perbandingan antara input dan waktu  dengan output. Efek intervensi dianalisis dengan uji Wilcoxon dan uji T-paired.        Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi penurunan ketegangan otot erector spinae sebesar 21,39% (p<0,05), penurunan keluhan muskuloskeletal sebesar 29,52% (p<0,05) dan peningkatan produktivitas sebesar 22,13% (p<0,05).        Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian alas duduk dan Mc Kenzie exercise dapat menurunkan ketegangan otot dan keluhan muskuloskeletal serta meningkatkan produktivitas pada pengukir kendang tambur di UD. Budi Luhur Gianyar. Sehingga disarankan untuk diterapkan pada industri pengukir kendang tambur, untuk meminimalkan ketegangan otot dan keluhan muskuloskeletal akibat proses kerja mengukir.

Abstract

Characteristics of batik stamp is done by standing working attitude. Equipment used in the form of a work desk height is not in accordance with anthropometric causing work attitude with a bent position and in giving patterns on fabrics monotonous and repetitive. Intervention by designing the working conditions such as repair work desk, a picturesque repair work organization in the form of active rest between working time and rest periods as well as preventive measures in the form of Pilates exercise can reduce the complaints caused by work processes. This study aims to show that the administration of Pilates exercise and modification of working conditions can reduce the subjective complaints and improve productivity on a batik cap in batik industry. This Study is Experimental research, with treatment by subject design. The first phase (I) subjects treated with conventional working conditions. The second phase (II) subjects treated with application of Pilates exercise and improvement of working conditions in the form of additional altitude work desk and an active break. Among the second stage, given washing out period and adaptation. Normality test data with ShapiroWilk, paired t-test to test the significance difference variables musculoskeletal disorders, fatigue and work productivity. These results indicate that administration of Pilates exercise and modification of working conditions affect significantly (p <0.05). There was a decrease musculoskeletal 31.6%, 22.1% decrease in fatigue, and increase productivity by 34.56%. The conclusion that the application of Pilates exercise and modification of working conditions can lower subjective complaints and increase the productivity of batik cap in batik industry. So it is advisable to apply to the batik industry, to minimize complaints due process of batik work.

Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah purposive sampling.Sampel merupakan 18 orang pekerja buruh bangunan di Banjar Dakdakan dengan nyeri punggung bawah yang dipilih berdasarkan skor Modified Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire dengan nilai >20%.Rerata selisih penurunan skor nyeri fungsional Low Back Pain Miogenik pada kelompok Back Strengthening Exercise dan kelompok William?s Flexion Exercise diuji dengan Independent t-test Hasil analisis untuk skor nyeri fungsional punggung bawah non-spesifik menunjukkan bahwa rerata selisih penurunan nyeri fungsional punggung bawah non-spesifik yang bermakna pada kelompok Back Strengthening Exercise dan kelompok William?s Flexion Exercise (14,55 dan 22,88) dengan nilai p = 0,000 (p<0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa intervensi William?s Flexion Exercise menghasilkan penurunan skor nyeri fungsional punggung bawah miogenik lebih besar secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan intervensi Back Strengthening Exercise Kata kunci: Back Strengthening Exercise, William?s Flexion Exercise,nyeri punggung bawah Miogenik
