Abstract

The learning process in a room with low intensity may cause the eyestrain amongstudents, it would be a disadvantage because it makes students become tired and sleepy. The assessment of fatigue used psychomotor reaction time test. This test provides a description of the fatigue that occurs among students. This study aims to investigate the influence of improvement of light intensity to the reaction time among sixth grade students at ElementarySchool Dauh Puri Number 8 Denpasar.This research was using pre experimental study with the one group pre test-post test design among sixth grade students at Elementary School Dauh Puri Number 8 Denpasar. This study used 22 subjects, 11 men and 11 women. The study was conducted first by measuring the reaction time after the first period of study is completed, and then the light intensity improved to meet the standards for one week. The second measurement of the reaction timedid after one week period of the intervention.The results showed a significant difference between the reaction time before the intervention (522 ms) and after the intervention (476 ms), CI 95% : 42.68 ? 50.68, p = 0.000. There was additional data regarding the reaction time comparisons between men and women. The reaction time is faster in men (480 ms) than in women (564 ms), p = 0.004. It was concluded that the improvement of light intensity is able to accelerate the reaction time, and reaction time is faster in men than women.

Abstract

This research based on practice at junior high school, while physical education lesson we found that the physical fitness of the student are weak. Physical fitness is ability of someone to doing physical activity or make some move in periodic time without have a terrible tired and still have rest of power to dounexpected work.The aims of this research is to knowing the fitness of students who has following the physical education and extracurricular sport more better then the usual student. This research is observational analytic with cross sectional method. Location of this research in 02 masbagik junior high school and using 66 sample divided into 2 groups by random sampling, 33 are usual student, and 33 student that have an extracurricular lesson. Based on analyze of SPSS confirmed that the physical fitness of student that have an extracurricular was better than usual student by 1000 M distance of running test. The usual student got 7,2667±2,12584 minute with median 6,4300 (p = 0,001) while the extra student got 5,4297±1,19317 minute median 5,2300. Based on this research we can confirmed that the level of physical fitness of the student who have the extra lesson was better than the usual student who haven?t the extra lesson.

Abstract

Background: Spondyloarthtrosis lumbal is a kind of low back pain which caused by degeneration of discus, facet joint on lumbal. This degeneration causes a pressure on foramen invertebralis that causes tissue inflammation or it also caused because the spasm muscle that will causes ischemic, and at last ischemic causes pain. To decrease pain in spondyloarthrosis lumbal patient, we can use Stabilization Exercise and william flexion exercise at basic therapy. Objective: The purpose of this research is to declare that giving the stabilization exercise on micro wave diathermy basic therapy more effective in decreasing pain than William flexion exercise on micro wave diathermy basic therapy in spondyloarhtrosis lumbal patient. Method: This research was a true experimental, randomized pre and post test two group design in March to April 2016. From 24 samples of 40-60 years old spondyloarthtrosis lumbal patient in RSUD Dr.H..Kumpulan Pane Tebing Tinggi based in the inclusion criteria, were divided to two groups and get randomly treatment. Group I with stabilization exercise after micro wave diathermy basic therapy and group II with William Flexion Exercise after micro wave diathermy basic therapy. Training conducted over six weeks, 3 times per week and 3 times repetition on each training section. Before and after 6 weeks training, all of the sample measured the pain score using Visual Analog scale. Result: The analysis result show that the decreasing pain score that happened on group I, the initial value 52,50 and final value 20,83 with difference value 31,67 and significantly difference (p <0,05) and decreasing pain score value on group II, the initial value 52,50 and the final value 29,17 with difference value 23,33 in significantly (p <0,05). It means on group I and group II got a significantly decreased of pain. Based on Mann Whitney Test, the average comparison of the decreasing pain after the treatment on both group significantly difference (p <0,05). Conclusion: The conclusion from this research is that stabilization on basic therapy micro wave diathermy is more effective to decrease pain than william flexion exercise on basic micro wave diathermy on spondyloarthrosis lumbal patient.

Abstract

Introduction : Upper trapezius myofascial pain syndrom (MPS) is characterized by presence of trigger points in upper trapezius muscle. MPS can cause disability and also has negative economic effect. Purpose : The reserach?s goal is to improve that combination of ultrasound and dry needling was better than combination of ultrasound and hold relax to decrease neck disability index. Methods : This research used experimental methods to study with pre-test and post-test control group design. Number of samples of the experimental group was 17 subjects given three times treatment of combination of ultrasound and dry needling, while in the control group were 17 subjects given three time treatment of combination of ultrasound and hold relax. NDI was used as out come measure. Shaphiro-wilk test was used to test the normality and levene?s test was used to test the homogenity. wilcoxon signed ranked test was used for hipothesis I, t-test related was used for hipothesis II and t-test independent wa used for hipothesis III. Results : The research showed that: (1) There was significant decrease of NDI in the experimental group . values of mean for pre test were 42,04 + 7,33 % and post test were 10,18 + 3,78 %. with p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) (2) there was significant decrease of NDI in the control group. values of mean for pre test were 45,29 + 6,03 % and post test were 22,24 + 5,42 %, with p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) (3) There were significant differences between experimental group and control group comparing with the differences of post test values between the group. The mean of post test values in experimental group showed 10,18 + 3,78 % meanwhile 22,24 + 5,42% in control group, with p value = 0.000 (p <0.05). Conclution : It was concluded that combination of ultrasound and dry needling and combination of ultrasound and hold relax can decrease the neck disability index. Combination of ultrasound and dry needling was better than combination of ultrasound and hold relax to decrease neck disability index in subject with upper trapezius myofascial pain syndrom.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBasketball is a big ball game that requires well cardiovascular endurance. Cardiovasculer endurance can be improved using interval training and fartlek training. This study aimed to determine the effect of interval training and fartlek training on cardiovascular endurance improvement. The study was a experimental that use randomized pretest posttest design group control that does in SMA Negeri 1 Sukawati. The sample of study was students of extracurricular basketball SMA Negeri 1 Sukawati, which were 22 students that divided into 2 groups. Both groups were given different training during 6 weeks with training frequency three times a week for one and a half months. The first group was given interval training and the second group was given fartlek training. Cardiovascular endurance was measured with a multistage fitness test (MFT). The result showed the mean of cardiovascular endurance between the groups after training was 41.66 ± 2.733 ml / kg / minute in the interval training group and was 48.92 ± 2.385 ml / kg / minute in the fartlek group. The cardiovascular endurance between both groups was significantly different (p<0.05), meaningful and have improvement. The conclusion is the interval training and fartlek training are able to improve cardiovascular endurance, however fartlek training is better than interval training in improving cardiovascular endurance. Therefore, it is advisable to use fartlek training to improve cardiovascular endurance for basketball players.Keywords: cardiovascular endurance, fartlek training, interval training

Abstract

Introduction: Generally, core stability exercise as a training program is needed in almost kind of sport including paddle, analysis of movement in any kind of paddle sport such as kayak, canoe, or even rowing have been showed that the activity of core stability muscles are really needed. Purpose: purpose of this research is to know the effectivity of core stability exercise replenishment to increase sculling speed in paddle training program. Methods: This research is experimental with treatment by subject design project, involving 15 paddle athletes which divided into two groups and consists of II periods which are, Period I and Period II. In the 1st period, the athletes were given extra core stability exercise along with their normal paddling routine mean while in the 2nd period, the athletes only doing their normal paddling routine. Each period do the trial in 6 weeks, so this reseach took 12 weeks. In 1st period, the subjects were given extra core stability training 3 times a week along with their normal paddling routine where as subjects in period II only do their normal paddling routine. Results: The used of parametric paired t test is to know the difference of sculling speed before and after the trials were given. To period I pre test value is 3.80 ± 0.26 meters/second while the post test value is 4.06 ± 0.41 meters/second and the value 0.001 (p<0.05)mean while the 2nd period use Wilcoxon signed rank test to know the difference of sculling speed between before and after the trial were given resulting pre test value 3.80 ± 0.22 meters/second and post test value 3.91 ± 0.27 meters/second while the p value is 0.004 (p<0.05). After 12 weeks of sculling speed test between both period using Wilcoxon signed rank test and resulting obvions with period I value 0.26 ± 0.20 meters/second and period II value is 0.11 ± 0.12 meters/second along with p value 0.001 (p<0.05). Conclusion: Therefore, based on the result of my research test, we can concluded that the addition of core stability exercise in paddle training program is more effective to increase sculling speed.

Abstract

Biomotor components of strength and speed are the base of the components ofexplosive power of muscles, especially motion tools in the upper body. The combination oftrainings that can be used to increase muscle strength and speed are cable machinewoodchopper and a medicine ball full twist training and push up knee and sit up training. Thecurrent study used an experimental design with a sample of 36 people which is taken usingproportional random sampling from the population which met the inclusion and exclusioncriteria and dividen into two groups. Each group consist of 18 people. The combinationtraining between cable machine woodchopper and medicine ball full twist was used by theGroup I, while the combination between training push up knee and sit up was used by theGroup II. The study was conducted three times a week for 6 weeks. Data were collected fromthe result of the discs throw before and after the study. The collected data were statisticallyanalyzed. From the analysis, it was obtained that the variant of data was homogeny and thedistribution was normal. Therefore, the analysis continued with the paired t-test and independent t-test. The paired t-test result showed that there is a increase number of results indiscus throw on both of the experiment groups (p <0.05). While the independent t-testsshowed that before the training in the group I and group II found was not significantlydifferent (p> 0.05), but after the training between group I and group II are equally increasedtheir results in discus throw (p <0.05). From the results, it can be inferred that thecombination between cable machine woodchopper and medicine ball full twist training inGroup I increased higher than the combination between push up knee and sit up training inGroup II on the outcome of discus throwing.

Abstract

Background: Calf Muscle Pain is discomfort and pain feeling in the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles, a result of constantly receiving the loading due to excessive wear. Purpose: This study was to determine hold relax exercise and auto myofascial release technique was more effective to reduce calf muscle pain than hold relax and auto stretching on SPG at Lippo Mall Kuta Bali. Methods: This research was an experimental study with pre and post test control group design. Total sample of this study were 22 SPGs, which divided into 2 groups. Group 1 (n = 11) was given hold relax exercise and auto stretching while the group 2 (n = 11) was given intervention hold relax exercise and auto myofascial release technique. Do exercise 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Sampling techniques with random sampling. Calf muscle pain was measured with modification sphygmomanometer to provoked pain. Result: Group 1 result obtained p value = 0,001 (p <0.05) and in Group 2 got result obtained p value = 0.001 (p<0.05) for Paired Sample T-test. Different test of mean value with independent sample t-test after treatment found that the decrease of calf muscle pain in group 2 was 232.73 mmHg better than group 1 was 199.09 mmHg with p value = 0.035 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Hold relax exercise and auto myofascial release technique more effective to reduce calf muscle pain than hold relax exercise and auto stretching on SPGs in Lippo Mall Kuta Bali. Suggestion: For the next researcher can do follow up research to see long-term result of hold relax and auto stretching exercise as well hold relax and auto myofascial release technique for SPGs.

Abstract

Elderly people, a population group whose age is more than 60 years or older is a group ofpeople who potentially suffered by metabolic disorders due to changes in body fat percentageand the degeneration process. Elderly gymnastics showed theoretically significantly lowered thepercentage of body fat that result in a decrease in waist circumference, increasing the capacityof the memory function, and mental efficiency. This study was a pre-experimental study, carriedout in the Jegu Tabanan Village in February 2014 to September 2015 with a sample of 63 elderly.An abnormal waist circumference (central obesity) defined of > 90 cm in men and > 80 cm inwomen. The data were measured before and after the intervention (elderly gymnastic training)for the six months (once a week, in the morning, at the village hall (Balai Banjar) of JeguTabanan Village, and was guided by an elderly gymnastic instructor. Study result: the studyconsisted of 63 subjects which was 35 (55.6%) men and 28 (45.4%) women with the mean of age was 65 ± 0.5 years old and the mean of BMI was 22.5 ± 3.02 (kg / m2). The results of thebivariate statistical analysis by paired t-test showed a significant difference between waistcircumference before and after giving elderly gymnastics for six months with the value of p =0.023 (CI: 0.449; 5.773). Also we found reduction in waist circumference of 3 cm (3.6%).

Abstract

CARDIORESPIRATORY ENDURANCE AMONG SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYERS IN DENPASAR IS BETTER THAN NON-BASKETBALL PLAYER STUDENTS ABSTRACT Basketball game requires a good cardiorespiratory endurance, thus cardiorespiratory endurance can be measured by maximal oxygen capacity (VO2max). Cardiorespiratory endurance can improve with routine physical exercise that meet the required amount of duration and intensity, including basketball training. The objective in this study is to compare the cardiorespiratory endurance of senior high school male basketball players and non-basketball players student in Denpasar. This is an analytic study with cross sectional approach. The samples were 24 students and taken by purposive sampling which is consist of basketball and non-basketball group. Cardiorespiratory endurance is measured by calculating the VO2max from Cooper Test 2,4 km. The mean VO2max is higher in basketball player which is 45,906 ml/kg/minute than in non basketball player which is 36,603 ml/kg/minute. The mean difference is 9,303 ml/kg/minute, with 95% confidence interval lower is 6,308 and upper is 12,299. There is a significant difference (p=0,000) between the cardiorespiratory endurance of Senior high school male basketball player and non-basketball player student in Denpasar using independent t-test. This study suggests that senior high school students should do routine physical exercise to improve a better cardiorespiratory endurance, including playing basketball. Further research in larger scale is needed.
