Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menghitung nilai MPPA induk pada sapi PO Kebumen. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan pada bulan Juli sampai dengan Oktober 2015 di wilayah Urut Sewu, Kebumen. Materi penelitian yang digunakan adalah data recording tiga tahun terakhir (2013-2015) terdiri dari 41 ekor pejantan, 51 induk dan 244 pedet. Data berat sapih anak sebelumnya telah dikoreksi berdasarkan umur induk, jenis kelamin dan umur penyapihan 120 hari. Ripitabilitas dihitung menggunakan metode korelasi antarkelas. Nilai MPPA induk dihitung berdasarkan nilai ripitabilitas berat sapih keturunan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai ripitabilitas berat sapih anak termasuk dalam kategori tinggi (0.32 ± 0.15). Nilai MPPA induk sapi PO Kebumen kemudian dihitung menggunakan nilai tersebut dan juga rata-rata performan populasi (83.45 kg). Dihasilkan 10 besar induk sapi PO Kebumen dengan nilai MPPA tertinggi. Nilai MPPA kemudian diurutkan dari nilai tertinggi ke terendah. Nilai MPPA tertinggi dimiliki oleh SAJ0315078 (110.69) dan terendah dimiliki oleh TA1112020 (97.20). Hasil dari penelitian ini kemudian dapat digunakan sebagai dasar dalam seleksi induk sapi PO Kebumen di dalam populasinya.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to investigate the production performances, i.e. the growth rate, feed consumption, feed conversion and carcass percentage of Madura cattle supplemented with bioplus and palm coconut cake. Twelve (12) male Madura cattle of approximately 1.5 to 2.0 years old with an initial liveweight of 136.62+21.61 kg were used in this study, and were randomly divided into four ration treatments, namely (I) Ration composed of roughage and legume (control); (II) Roughage and legume were supplemented with bioplus; (III) Roughage and legume were supplemented with palm coconut cake; and (IV) Roughage and legume were supplemented with palm coconut cake and bioplus. Each group (unit) consisted of three cattle. The cattle were kept in feedlot system lasted in three months. The roughage and legume consisted of field grass 80%, elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) 10% and ground peanut straw 10%. Bioplus taken from Balitnak (Research Institute for Animal Production) Ciawi, Bogor was given at 0.5 kg/cattle and palm coconut cake was given at 2 kg/cattle, respectively. The variable measurements were average of daily gain (ADG), feed consumption, feed conversion, feed cost per gain, carcass percentage, and nutrient digestibility. The data were analyzed using a variance analyses (completely randomized design), followed by Duncan’s new multiple range test (DMRT) for the significant means. The result indicated that palm coconut cake and bioplus supplementation produce higher ADG. The ADG were 0.32; 0.38; 0.55; and 0.61 kg for treatment I, II, III, and IV, respectively. Supplementation with bioplus and palm coconut cake increased dry matter intake (DMI), organic matter (OM) and crude protein intake (CPI). Supplementation can also reduce feed conversion and feed cost per gain compared to without supplementation. Bioplus supplementation increases DM, OM, and CP digestibility. There were no significant effect of treatments on the dressing percentage, while the percentage of offal mainly skin, lung, kidney, and viscera fat were significantly different. Bioplus supplementation increased feed consumption, digestibility, and reduced feed cost per gain.   Key words: Madura cattle, bioplus, production performance

Abstract

Tidal lowland are one of the potential for development of agro-ecosystem farm. Banyuasin have a fairly extensive wetlands. Data on livestock productivity in Banyuasin yet available. The aim of the study was to identify the output of beef cattle in Banyuasin regency, South Sumatra province. This research was conducted from July to October 2014 in 3 districts. One thousand one hundred eighty traditional breeders were involved in this research and interviewed on cows reproduction characteristics and breeding management. Data cows reproduction characteristic was analyzed with the average and standard deviation and estimation output was calculated using breeding teory. The results of research showed that efficiency valued reproduced 98.27%, natural increase 24.39%, male net replacement rate 143.26% and female 220.15% and estimation output was 24.30% equal to 7.267 heads.

Abstract

An experiment was conducted on 100 heads of Boerawa doe mated with male Boer. The parameters perceived were pregnancy periode, litter size, and birth weight. The study was undertaken at Boerawa goat development area Kecamatan Gisting Kabupaten Tanggamus. The data were analysed in SPSS versi 10. The results showed that pregnancy periode 159,31 + 4,37 days, litter size 1,62 + 0,65 heads, and birth weight 3.02 + 029 kg. Keywords: boerawa goat, pregnancy periode, litter size, birth weight

Abstract

One hundred and eighty castrated male of Brahman Cross cattle ,2 to 2.50 years old with initial body weight of 341.50± 18.20 kg, were used in this research to study the effect of duration period of fattening on average daily gain and fatty acids composition of meat. They were grouped randomly into three : 2 months ( group A),3 months (group B) and 4 months ( group C) of fattening of each group consisted of three pens of 20 heads respectively. The diet was composed of 15 percent of king grass ,80 percent of concentrate and 5 percent of waste product of fermented beer and given ad libitum as total mixed ration. Feed intake was controlled every day, were as  weighting was done monthly. Meat samples for analyses of fatty acids composition and were taken from Longisimus dorsi and collected from 6 cattle as a replication for each treatment. All data collected were analysed by analysis of variance using completely Randomized Design (CRD). Treatment were compared using Least Significant Difference (LSD).ADG in group C (0,75 kg ) was significantly higher (P < 0,05) than in group A (0,08 kg ) and B (0,82 kg ) and three was not difference between A and B . Meat fat content and percentage of saturated fatty acids were significantly higher (P< 0,05 ) in group C (12.53 percent ; 43.16 percent ) than in group A (5.31 percent ; 38.43 percent ) and in group B (5,27 percent ; 38.05 percent ). On the contrary, the percentage of unsaturated fatty acids was significantly (P < 0,05) lower (C: 56.76 percent ) than other group ( A : 61.70 percent and B : 61.95 percent). Abstract

Sheep is one of popular ruminants in Indonesia, because sheep is one one of source of animal protein, and also easy and convenient in breeding. Therefor, they should be developed, preserved and increased through improvement of genetic quality by selection and mating control in the breeding program. Arrangement of a breeding program requires the values of genetic parameter namely heritability. The purpose of this study was to estimate the growth heritability value of Fat Tailed sheep in UPT PT-HMT Garahan, Jember, East Java. Data were collected from progeny, birth weight and weaning weight of Fat Tailed sheep from 2007 to 2012 in UPT-HMT Garahan, Jember. Data were corrected by sex, type of birth and weaning of age. Data were analyzed using the heritability of paternal halfsib correlations and nested method of analysis. The estimation of heritabilities using paternal halfsib correlation were 0.85±0.39; 0.89±0,41 and 0.67±0.37 for birth weight, weaning weight and pre weaning average daily gain (ADG). While, heritabilities estimated from nested method were 0.89±0,48 (h2 S); -0.11±0.33 (h2 D); 0.39±0.28 (h2 S+D); 0.71±0.50 (h2 S); 0.69±0.52 (h2 D);  0.70±0.33 (h2 S+D); 0.47±0.44 (h2 S); 0.72±0.56 (h2 D); 0.60±0.32 (h2 S+D) for birth weight, weaning weight an pre weaning ADG, respectively. Abstract

Kabupaten Kebumen merupakan salah satu sentra peternakan sapi potong di Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Pemeliharaan ternak sapi potong pada peternakan rakyat didominasi oleh sapi lokal, khususnya sapi Peranakan Ongole (PO). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk Mengetahui dinamika populasi, output dan penampilan reproduksi sapi PO di Kabupaten Kebumen, Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari bulan September hingga Desember 2015. Materi penelitian ini terdiri dari 1.261 peternak dan 3.112 ekor sapi PO yang berasal dari enam kecamatan di wilayah Urut Sewu, Kabupaten Kebumen. Penelitian bersifat analisis deskriptif dengan metode survey. Penampilan reproduksi induk sapi PO di Kebumen adalah baik dan efisien, yaitu ditunjukkan dengan days open 4,37±0,64 bulan, S/C 1,97±0,20, interval kelahiran 14,17±0,67 bulan, dan nilai efisiensi reproduksi (ER) 97,25%. Nilai natural increase (NI) pada penelitian ini yaitu sebesar 40,78%. Kemudian nilai net replacement rate (NRR) sapi PO jantan dan betina masing-masing sebesar 794,70% dan 307,41%. Hasil estimasi output sapi PO 40,08% dari populasi, estimasi dinamika populasi sapi PO tahun 2015 sampai 2019 akan meningkat 2.181 ekor atau 2,70% per tahun. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Kabupaten Kebumen layak untuk dijadikan sentra pembibitan sapi PO dan penampilan reproduksi sapi PO di Kabupaten Kebumen masih dapat ditingkatkan dengan menerapkan manajemen pemeliharaan yang lebih baik.

The scale of ownership and the spread of the farm location make estrous detection so difficult, the absence of superior buck leads to a genetic quality degradation. The concept of breeding center is the provision of superior buck and mating house in one location. to support the increase of the does performance need for improvement of feed during in the breeding center, namely flushing. The partners of community engagement are farmers at Sentra Peternak Rakyat Kebon Wulangreh in Karangdukuh, Jogonalan, Klaten. It was done from April to October 2017. Activities began with socialization, followed by community learning and then was done the empowerment of farmers for built a breeding center was consisting of mating house, pasture, arteis well and electrical installation. The breeding center concept was applied after complete. Breeding center is a simple solution for estrous detecting and limitation of superior buck, more controlled does health, improvement for genetic quality and does performance, so that kids crop can be increases and finally impact on the farmer prosperity. Enggagement activities already done on target and get very postive responses. Farmers have doing together to build a breeding center area and have been used.
