Abstract

Analysis of chemical physics parameters on Mallawa honey has been done as density, viscosity, HMF, reducing sugars, sucrose and enzyme diastase. The results obtained showed that the average weight of honey Mallawa is 1.373 g / mL, the viscosity of 10.9651 P, HMF amounted to 49.120 mg / Kg, reducing sugar amounted to 70.752% w/w, sucrose at 3:25 w/w and enzymes diastase of 3.805 DN, This is according with ISO and IHC (International Honey Commition) that category Honey Mallawa still good enough for consumption.

Abstract

A stigmasterol glycoside (stigmast-5,22-dien-3-O-?-D-glucopyranoside) has been isolated from the chloroform fraction of root wood of Melochia umbellata (Houtt) Stapf var. degrabrata K. The compound structure was determined on spectroscopic evidences including IR, 1D and 2D NMR and compared to previous data. The isolate was also active against Aspergillus niger.

Abstract

A triterpenoid derivative compound, oleane-12-en-2,3,23-triol-28-oat, from chloroform fraction of root wood ofPterospermum subpeltatum C. B. Rob (Sterculiaceae) was identified using IR, 1H dan 13C NMR data. The compoundhas shown toxicity against Artemia salina, LC50 of 46.06 ?g/mL, and antibacterial potential upon Shigella boydii andStaphylococcus aureus with inhibition zones of 8.3 and 9.8 mm respectively.

Abstract

Pterospermum subpeltatum C.B. Rob or bayur is traditionally and widely used as medicine for infection diseases caused by bacteria. Four extract from root stem of this plant were evaluated for their antibacterial activity properties against Escherichia coli, Shigella boydii, staphylococcus aureus dan Streptococcus mutan. All the extract were able to inhibited the bacterial strain except Staphylococcus aureus. Chloroform extract exhibited effect for   Shigella boydii and Streptococcus mutan. Hexana extract for Escherichia coli, while methanol extract for Shigella boydii. All extract showed an effect at the same extend (MIC; 50 mg/ml).

Abstract

The objectives of the study are to describe the iron content of seagrass area ecosystem and its relation with nature of physico-chemical territorial water. The sampling of seagrass was conducted in purposive sampling technique for every status of the field and performed in three spots of the seagrass ecosystem region with reference to the depth of water and the current direction. Based on statistical tests of factorial and variance analysis indicate that the quality of physico-chemical territorial water in the coastal region of Donggala regency still very good, relatively. The result also showed, The Demand Oxygen and the turbidity gave a positive effect to Fe- seagrass improvement in its various association. Besides, the limiting factor for the low of Fe-seagrass is the height of salinity and water temperature. If the results were combined with another micro and macro mineral analysis will to become the basic for estimating the status of seagrass fertility.

Abstract

The use of hydroxide compounds as CO2 absorbents for Measurement of Carbon-14 in Coral Reef Sample fromSpermonde Archipelago. This research aimed to determine the age of coral reef sample of Spermonde Archipelago by measuring the activity of carbon-14 using the method Liquid Scintillation Counting (LSC). The coral reef sample was collected in Langkai Island. The research was conducted by following steps of sample preparation, the CO2 absorption using the hydroxide solutions (KOH and NaOH). The measurement of the carbon-14 activities was performed using the Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC) Hidex 300 SL. The research results indicated that the absorption capacities of KOH and NaOH were 0,450 and 0,425 mol CO2/mol hydroxide respectively. The specific activity of coral reef sample using absorbent KOH and NaOH were 14.51; and 14.57 DPM/g C, respectively.The age of coral reef sample, which was calculated based on the specific activity values using the absorbents KOH and NaOH were 436.13; and 403.61years, respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to identify volatile compounds that are characteristic of the honey of Terasa village of Sinjai regency of South Sulawesi, volatile honey extracted with n-hexane solvent then identified by Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS) method. The results obtained 59 volatile compounds derived from honey are grouped into compounds namely hydrocarbons, aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, esters, bensenoid and carboxylic acids. Based on comparative results with other honey regions it is known that volatile compounds that become characteristic of honey Terasa village that is compound Tetrasilaoktana

Abstract

The work is to determine absorption capacity, optimum time analysis, efficiency enumeration (TDCR), specific activityof 14C and coral age. Steps taken are physical and chemical washing, CO2 absorption, and analysis using liquid scintillation counter Hidex 300 SL. Due to washing, the weight loss was 4.74%. Total carbon absorbed was 1,056 grams. CO2 absorption capacity using KOH was 47% while optimum time analysis by LSC was 30 minutes and average efficiency enumeration (TDCR) was 0.6877.  It was concluded that specific activityof 14C was 14.7361 DPM/gC and coral age in Kayangan Island was 310.49 years.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the levels of copper (Cu) in the sponge symbiont bacterial. The research was carried out through the steps of isolation, identification, and measurement of the metal content. Sponges used in this research is of Callyspongia sp. Bacteria were isolated from Callyspongia sp sponges in the Bacillus sp gram-positive. By using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, the results showed that the levels of Cu for Callyspongia sp is 8.9112 ppm, while in the extracellular bacterial isolates Cu level ranging between 1.4009 ppm and 2.0336 ppm and in the intracellular is between 0.4786 ppm and 1.7813 ppm. It is concluded that bacterial isolates either in extra- as well as intracellular were both accomodated copper in their bodies.

Abstract

Honey is a natural product produced by bees that contain nutrients that are very essential. Honey is not only a material sweeteners, flavoring or food, but is also used for drugs. This research aims to know the quality of honey Kindang Bulukumba Subdistrict origin. Mineral content in honey is one of the factors determining the quality of honey, for the analysis of minerals (copper, lead and cadmium) and test of bio-chemical physics with ICP-OES instruments. The concentration of minerals copper, was 0, 024mg/L, while the lead and cadmium was not detected by the value parameter test bio-chemical physics is honey; the grey levels of 0.26%; moisture content 19,69%; DHL 0, 41mS/cm; the acidity of 22, 06meq/kg; pH 4.43; 7.19% protein; fat 0,1301%; 77,55% carbohydrates. The results showed that the original honey Kindang has a quality in accordance with the National standard of Indonesia and the International Honey Commission
