Abstract

he system employing semester credit units requires students'good self-regulated learning in order that they attain learning goalssuccessfully. The present article concerns a research aimed atknowing(l) of what level mechanical engineering students' self­dependence in learning was as seen from both their self-stated viewsabout their self-regulated learning and their self-regulated learningin practice; (2) whether there was any difference in levelof self­regulated learning among those having different typesof high schooleducational background; (3) whether there was any differenceinlevel of self-regulated learning among those having studied fordifferent numbersof semesters; and (4) whether the environmentwhere they live influences their self-dependence in learning,or, inother words, their self-regulated learning.The research employed a positivistic approach which wasexploratory in nature. The population consistedof 254 students ofthe Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program, Faculty ofEngineering, State University of Yogyakarta, who were takingcourses in one even-numbered semester or another in the academicyearof 2005/2006. The sample size was 228 and the researchsubjects were randomly selected. The data were compiled by using aclosed self-report typeof questionnaire using a Linkert-type scalemodel. The data were analyzed by meansof non-parametricstatistics using the Kruskal-Wallis Test and the Mann-Whitney UTest since the data distribution did not fulfill the inferentialparametric analysis assumption The research findings indicate that (1) the level of the students'self-regulated learning was very good though the mean score fortheir self-regulated learning in practice is lower than that for theirself-stated views about their self-regulated learning; (2) there is nodifference in levelof self-regulated learning between those with ageneral high school educational background and those with avocational high school educational background, accordingto boththeir self-stated views on it and their self-regulated learning inpractice; (3) there is no difference in levelof self-regulated learningbetween those who live with their family and those who live at someoff-campus housing, accordingto both their self-stated views on itand their self-regulated learning in practice; and (4) there is nodifference in levelof self-regulated learning among those havingstudied for different numbersof semesters, according to both theirself-stated views on it and their self-regulated learningin practice,excluding the viewsof those in their second semester on their self­regulated learning

Abstract

Sejak kita menyadari bahwa pendidikan yang hanya mening­katkan kemampuanuntuk. menyerap materi pelajaran~ dan dayaserap sebagai kriteria ketercapaian target pendidikan, maka disadaripula bahwa cara ini tidak akan membawa bangsa Indonesia menjadibangsa yang besar.Di dalam era perkembangan teknologi yang pesatpeserta didik tidak cukup hanya dibekali keterampilan danpengetahuan saja tanpa secara sengaja mengembangkan kemampuanberpikir. Perkembangan teknologi yang pesat menuntut kemampuan manusia untuk beradaptasi dengan kemajuan itu, dan kemampuanberpikirlah yangakan menentukan kemampuan adaptasi tersebut.Pentingnya masalah berpikir telah lama menjadi perhatian parafilosof. Aristoteles misalnya menggunakan istilah"thinkingcapacity"(kapasitas berpikir) '\Intuk memberikan atribut tentangmanusia. Descartes juga membedakan antara barang dengan manusiadengan memberikan istilah"that which thinks" bagi manusia, sepertiyang dikatakan oleh Robert Thomson (1962) dalam bukunya "ThePsychologyofThinking".

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi: (1) kemajuan penulisan tesis; (2) kompetensi penulisan tesis; (3) faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penulisan tesis; (4) faktor-faktor dominan yang mempengaruhi penulisan tesis; (5) tingkat kekreatifan capaian hasil tesis mahasiswa S2 Program Studi Pendidikan Teknologi dan Kejuruan (PTK). Penelitian ini adalah penelitian evaluasi formatif bersifat internal dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei hingga Oktober 2014. Responden penelitian mahasiswa S2 PTK angkatan 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 sebanyak 59 orang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket skala Likert dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemaju-an penulisan tesis termasuk kategori sangat baik. Kompetensi mahasiswa dalam penulisan tesis termasuk kategori sangat baik. Penulisan tesis dipengaruhi oleh faktor dalam dan luar kampus. Faktor-faktor dominan yang mempengaruhi penulisan tesis adalah ketersediaan waktu diskusi dengan dosen pembimbing, kemampuan menerapkan metode penelitian dan analisis data,  beban tugas di tempat kerja, kemampuan memahami literatur asing, dukungan dosen pembim-bing, proses administrasi Pascasarjana, motivasi cepat lulus, dukungan keluarga, dan beasiswa. Tingkat kekreatifan mahasiswa dalam penulisan tesis termasuk kategori sangat baik.Kata kunci: evaluasi, penulisan tesis, kompetensi mahasiswa, Pendidikan Teknologi dan Kejuruan ______________________________________________________________ EVALUATION OF THESIS WRITING COMPETENCE OF MASTER?S DEGREE STUDENTS ON VOCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAMAbstract This study aimed to evaluate: (1) the progress of writing a thesis; (2) the competence of writing a thesis; (3) factors that influence the writing of the thesis; (4) the dominant factors that influence the writing of the thesis; (5) creativity of students in writing a thesis. This study was an internal formative evaluation conducted in May and October 2014. Respondents of this study were master degree students on Vocational and Technology Education Study Programs class of 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 as many as 59 people. The data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the progress of the thesis was classified in the excellent category. The competence of students in writing thesis was classified in very well category. Thesis writing is influenced by internal and exsternal campus factors. The dominant factors affecting the thesis were the availability of a discussion with the supervisor, the ability to apply research methods and data analysis, workload in the workplace, the ability to understand foreign literatur, supervisor support, administrative processes, motivation to pass quickly, family support, and scholarship. The level of creativity of students was clasified in the excellent category.Keywords: evaluation, thesis, student competence, Vocational and Technology Education

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are required to face a fast-changing and unpredictable situation or condition in the future. This study describes the HOTS profile of Vocational High School (VHS) students in Surakarta and its correlation with the work readiness in the field of mechanical engineering. The students? HOTS data were collected through the lathe technique examination, which has been tested empirically and validated by the subject matter. The result of the study showed that the HOTS profile of VHS students of mechanical engineering categorized as high, moderate and low were 36.81%, 18.68%, and 44.5% respectively. The higher thinking level of VHS students showed that students' work readiness was also higher. This means that HOTS was related to psychological, physical, and experiential aspects of the students. The result of HOTS profile could be used by the VHS teachers as the  basis to provide high quality lessons to produce graduates equipped with HOTS and better competitiveness and professionalism in workplaces.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Lembar Kegiatan Peserta Didik (LKPD) terintegrasi nilai karakter yang layak menurut ahli materi dan ahli media untuk digunakan pada pembelajaran tematik di kelas IV sekolah dasar. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan LKPD terintegrasi nilai karakter terhadap pengembangan tanggung jawab, disiplin, serta prestasi belajar peserta didik kelas IV sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pe- ngembangan (research and development, R&D) dengan mengacu model pengembangan Dick & Carey yang terdiri dari sepuluh tahap pengembangan, yaitu: (1) mengidentifikasi tujuan pembelajaran; (2) melakukan analisis pembelajaran; (3) menganalisis peserta didik; (4) menuliskan tujuan kinerja; (5) mengembangkan instrumen penilaian; (6) mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran; (7) mengembang- kan dan memilih bahan ajar; (8) merancang dan melakukan evaluasi formatif pembelajaran; (9) merevisi perangkat pembelajaran; (10) merancang dan melakukan evaluasi sumatif. Subjek coba pada penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas IV SDN Wonosari 1 sejumlah 64 peserta didik yang terdiri dari 8 peserta didik SDN Wonosari 1 untuk uji coba terbatas dan 56 peserta didik lainnya untuk uji coba lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKPD sebagai produk pengembangan efektif dalam mengembangkan tanggung jawab, disiplin, dan prestasi belajar peserta didik. Kata Kunci: LKPD terintegrasi nilai karakter, tanggung jawab, disiplin, dan prestasi belajar INTEGRATED LKPD DEVELOPMENT FOR DEVELOPING THE CHARACTER VALUES OF RESPONSIBILITY, DISCIPLINE AND ACHIEVEMENT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS Abstract: This study aimed to generate Student Activity Sheet (LKPD) integrated with decent character values according to subject matter experts and media experts to be used in thematic learning in the fourth grade of elementary school. In addition, this study also aimed to determine the effectiveness of the developed LKPD to nuture the character values of responsibility and discipline, as well as the achievement of the fourth graders of elementary school. This study is a research and development (R & D) study following Dick & Carey model of development consisting of ten stages of development: (1) identify the purpose of learning; (2) analyze learning; (3) analyze the learners; (4) write performance objectives; (5) develop assessment instruments; (6) develop learning strategies; (7) develop and select teaching materials; (8) design and conduct formative evaluation of learning; (9) revise the learning device; (10) design and conduct summative evaluation. The try-out subjects of this study were 64 students of grade IV SDN Wonosari 1 consisting of 8 students for limited trial, and 56 other students for field trial. The results showed that LKPD was effective in developing responsibility, discipline, and learning achievements of the students. Abstract

BNSP technical competence gets high legality on the side of the industry, while not all test participants can acquire it. Until now, studies that discuss relevant competency test models on automotive engine technology are still limited, not specific or even non-existent. The objective of this research is to produce a Competency Test Model for Engine Tune Up-System Injection and determine the characteristics after the model is applied. The subject of development consists of assesses (vocational education graduates, workers and educators), experts, and assessors from related Professional Certification Institutions (LSP). Instrument validation was conducted through expert judgment and feasibility trials. Reliability tests were performed using alpha and interrater coefficient analysis. The results of the test analysis include (1) competency test model assessment using the CBA approach; (2) competency dimension elements in instruments development are in the form of TS, TMS, CMS, EMS, and JRES; and (3) the characteristics of competency assessment include equipment verification of adequacy, avoiding impartiality, meeting requirements, transparent and accounTable, and able to produce recommendations as "competent" and "non-competent". The obtained findings showed that the developed competency test model could be used as a reference for use in vocational education.

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to investigate analytically some philosophies to find outwhat philosophy on which the vocational education is appropriately based for preparing theIndonesian live in the global and information era.The study is focused only on an idealism, realism, pragmatism, and re~onstructionism asa foundation of education curriculum in general and the possibilities of adoption forIndonesian vocational education.Some recommendations are suggested as follows: it is likely that vocational educationbetter to adopt eclectical principles derived from the principles of idealism, realism,pragmatism, and reconstructionism in order for the vocational education capable of preparingstudents for tommorrow living that have skins as well as capabilities in adapting their lifewithin the changing world, beside they have propositional abilities such as high motivation,creativity, and critical thinking.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: pengaruh pembelajaran problem posing dan direct instruction, interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dan tingkat kemampuan belajar matematika peserta didik terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi matematis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experiment), dengan menggunakan Non-equevalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas V SD Negeri Pujokusuman I Yogyakarta yang terdiri atas empat kelas. Sampel penelitian sebanyak dua kelas yang dipilih secara acak, kemudian masing-masing kelas yang terpilih dikelompokkan dalam kategori tingkat kemampuan tinggi dan tingkat kemampuan rendah terhadap kemampuan belajar matematika. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan uji Manova 2 jalur dan uji t dengan kriteria Bonferroni. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh antara pembelajaran problem posing dan direct instruction terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan tidak terdapat interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dan tingkat kemampuan belajar matematika peserta didik terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi matematis. Pembelajaran problem posing lebih baik dari direct instruction baik untuk kemampuan tinggi maupun untuk kemampuan rendah terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi matematis peserta didik.Kata kunci: problem posing, direct instruction, kemampuan berpikir kritis, kemampuan komunikasi matematis. THE EFFECT OF THE IMPLEMENTION OF LEARNING PROBLEM POSING ON CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY AND MATHEMATICAL COMMUNICATION OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GRADE 5TH STUDENTS AbstractThe purposes of this study are to describe: the effect of problem posing instruction and direct instruction and the interaction between instruction strategy and the level of students’ mathematics learning ability at SDN Pujokusuman I Yogyakarta. This study is a quasi-experimental research, using non-equevalent Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The population was all of the grade 5 students of SD Pujokusuman I Yogyakarta that consisted of four classes. The sample was VA and VB class which were selected randomly. Data were analyzed using two-ways Manova and t-test with Bonferroni criteria. The results show that; there is an effect of the learning problem posing and direct instruction on critical thinking skills and mathematical communication skills and there is no interaction between learning strategy and the level of mathematics learning ability of students to critical thinking skills and mathematical communication. The conclusion of this study is that problem posing instruction is better than direct instruction both for high ability and low ability on critical thinking skills and mathematics communication skill grade 5 of elementary school students.Keywords: problem posing, direct instruction, critical thinking skills, mathematical communication skills.
