Abstract

The availability offishin a formoftragedy of commons. To maintainavailability,fishermen arefaced with theoptiontoput its own interestsin the form ofexploitingandconsumingfishorputcommon interestsin order to maintain the availabilityof fishin conjunction withotherparties. This studyis intends to determinethe main motiveof fishermeninan effort to maintaintheavailability offish. Miniresearchcarried outat Kamal Muara,West Jakarta, a fishermen districtarea. The mini research employsurvey method. The results show that thetrustmotive andeconomic motives are dominant in protecting the environment.Keywords: tragedy of commons, sustainable consumption, core motives, fishery resourcesprotection

Abstract

Environmental issues are social dilemmas. In a social dilemma, the individual is faced with the choice to put his personal interests, or cooperate with other individuals by prioritising the common interest. Researcher look at environmental problems has two interrelated issues, namely the issue of environmental justice and sustainable consumption issues. This research will investigate individual’s perceived justice on willingness to cooperate in social dilemma situation. Willingness to cooperate is representing sustainable consumption in social dilemma’s term. This study used experimental method. The results of this studies were as follows. Individual’s perceived justice is determined the willingness to cooperate. Over consumption behavior seemed create unfairness to individuals. Participants were prefer equity rules of fairness than equality rule of fairness to distribute resources among them. The awareness of social dilemma is having a role as a partial mediation that mediate the influence of perceived justice to willingness to cooperate. The awareness of social dilemma altered the preference of fairness from equity to equality.

Abstract

This study is concerned on the relationship between innovation capability and business performance in small and medium enterprises context. The existing studies generally have analyzed the issues pertaining of innovation capability in large business or knowledge intensive firm context. By researching of the innovation capability of small and medium enterprises (SME?s), it will review innovation capability in a broader and novel context. The SME?s operate in a competitive environment and are not very advanced technologically. This research proposes statistical hypotheses to study these based on data samples. By employing path analysis, This research test the relationship between innovation categories and business performance. The result of our study show that government regulation directly affects to innovation capability, product and process innovation capability directly affect business performance in SME?s. Finally, managerial implication will be discussed.
