Abstract

Assessment is an ongoing process of evaluating learners? ability or skill after process of teaching and learning. In English class, assessment also plays an important role. According to the facts found, assessment mostly used in English class is traditional assessment. English class needs more alternative assessments to set the goals of learning English. Curriculum 2013, which is used in Indonesia right now, emphasizes the use of authentic assessment, and performance ? based assessment is to be a subset of authentic assessment. This article is trying to discuss the students? responsess on the use of performance-based assessment applied by the English teachers. This study applied descriptive qualitative research design. The subjects of this research were 30 Senior High School students. To collect the data needed, this study used observation and interview as the instrument. The observation was used to discover performance-based assessments which had already been applied by the English teachers in school. The result of the interview was interpreted to clarify the students? responsess on the use of performance-based assessment applied by the English teachers. Performance-based assessments which had already been applied were role-plays, writing sample, and retelling. From 6 classes, 3 classes (50%) applied role-plays. Moreover, 2 (33,3%) classes applied writing sample, and the rest applied retelling (16,66%). It means that role-plays was performance-based assessment which was mostly applied by the English teachers. Furthermore, the students? responsess on the use of performance-based assessment was good. Almost of the 30 students considered that performance-based assessment can improve their English skills and confidence instead of traditional assessment. 24 of the 30 students also claimed that traditional assessment is still inadequate to activate their English skill. In short, 80% of 30 students gave a positive responsess on the use of performance-based assessment.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang pengajaran ‘reading comprehension using jigsaw system’ ini bertujuanuntuk menunjukan keuntungan dari penggunaan ‘jigsaw system’ dalam pengajaran ‘readingcomprehension’. Data penelitian diambil dari siswa kelas XI IPS 1 SMAN 1 Randudongkal.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan ‘rading comprehension’siswa kelas XI IPS1 SMAN 1 Randudongkal setelah diajar dengan ‘jigsaw system’.Kata kunci: Jigsaw, rading comprehension

Abstract

The goals of this research are: (1) to find out the requirements to be the Englishtecher candidate, (2) to find out if motivation is one of the factors which needs to beconsideres in students; recruitement system, (3) to fdesign the model of students’recruitment system in English department of IKIP PGRI Semarang. The instrumets ofthis study are quetionaires which were distributed to the samples. The samples are thestduents of english department which was randomy selected and six English teachers ofsenior high school in Semarang. Those schools were: 1 state senior high school, 1private high school, 2 state vocational schools and 2 provate vaocational schools. Thetresearch was conducted for 1,5 month. The result of this study shows that the users(schools) have less content over the English department graduates’ competence. Thoseare profesionalism, pedagogic, social and performance. The graduates are consideredto have low pedagogic competence(33.3%) and less in performance (16.7%). Theresult of the analysis on questionaires filled by the students revealed that the highermotivation of the students, the higher their achievement. The result of the study willlead to the designing of model which include motivation as one of the factors inrecruiting new students of English Deparment. The users dicontent is worth consideredas the supporting factors in improvement. The improvement can be started from thestudents recruitment.Key words: motivation, result of the study, profesionalism, and students RecruitmentModel

Abstract

Abstracts This article introduces the use of interactive approach in teaching writing, especially paragraph writing. Instead of communicating with the students about the writing product, the teachers of writing subject are mostly correcting the students’ mistakes and errors in writing. The general idea of writing process is considered very important since it is very helpful for the students. The process approach in teaching paragraph writing is not focusing on the writing product but it is focused on the process of writing, so that this suitable approach that suitable to be applied since writing is a series of process. Abstract

Abstract: This community service is carried out in form of entrepreneurship training andpracticing making soybean milk (theory and practice) for the PKK women in Bulusan,Tembalang-Semarang. It was held on Saturday, March 18th 20012 at 09.00 A.M until02.00 P.M. It was in the hall of Bulusan centre. The goal of this community service is tobuild the entrepreneurship by giving the training in making soybean milk in individualand groups. The audiences were also given the financial calculation of selling soybeanmilk and how to start selling it efficiently. The method which was used in this communityservice was explaining, question and answer, and direct practice. The result of thiscommunity servise shows that most of the PKK women are interested in developing theentrepreneurship by selling the product of soybean milk. It will be realized by their nexttrading of soybean milk.Key words: entrepreneurship, business and soybean milk.Abstrak: Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam bentukpelatihan (teori dan praktek) mengenai kewirausahaan dan praktek pembuatan susukedelai bagi PKK Kelurahan Bulusan Kecamatan Tembalang Kota Semarang. Kegiatanpengabdian ini telah dilaksanakan pada hari Sabtu, tanggal 18 Maret 2012 jam 09.00 WIB– 14.00 WIB yang bertempat di aula kelurahan Bulusan. Tujuan dilaksanakan kegiatan iniuntuk memperdayakan PKK kelurahan Bulusan dalam berwirausaha dengan diberipelatihan membuat susu kedelai secara mandiri dan kelompok. Dalam kegiatan ini jugadibekali dengan informasi perhitungan dana berwirausaha dengan produk susu kedelai,dan bagaimana memasarkan produk susu kedelai. Metode yang digunakan adalah metodeceramah, tanya jawab, dan praktek langsung. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwaadanya minat yang besar dari PKK Bulusan untuk mengembangkan kewirausahaandengan membuat susu kedelai. Hasil dari pelatihan ini akan direalisasikan dengan usahakelompok pembuatan susu kedelai.Kata kunci:Kewirauasahaan, Bisnis, dan Susu Kedelai

Abstract

Abstract: This community service was carried out in form of training for the society in Tlogosari Wetan, Semarang. It was held in the hall of Tlogosari wetan centre. In this training, the participants were given some materials relating to how to get money by making products from all parts of banana trees. The methods which were used in this community service were explaining and question and answer. All the participants were excited and did not go anywhere till the training was over. They asked many questions on how to make products from banana, banana leaves, etc. The result of this training shows that the participants are getting interested in making products from banana trees to increase their income Key words: banana, banana trees, income   Abstrak: kegiatan IbM ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan bagi masyarakat di tlogosari wetan, semarang. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di aula kelurahan tlogosari wetan. Para peserta yang hadir diberikan materi-materi yang berkaitan dengan pemanfaatan pohon pisang untuk menjadi produk-produk yang bisa dipasarkan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah penjelasa, dan tanya jawab. Semua peserta sangat tertarik dalam kegiatan ini sehingga acara ini tetap berlangsung dengan baik hingga akhir acara. Para peserta memberikan banyak pertanyaan-pertanyaan tentang bagaimana membuat produk olahan dari pisang, daun pisang dan bahkan dari pohonya. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukan bahwa semua peserta sangat tertarik untuk memulai membuat produk-produk olahan dari pisang dan pohonya untuk meningkatkan pendapatan mereka.   Kata kunci: pisang, pohon pisang, pendapatan

Abstract

This community service was held in a training of writing scientific article. The main goal of this community service is to help the teachers to write a scientific article which is proper to published in an accredited scientific journal. It was held in a long term and took eleven meetings. It started in June 19,2012 and ended in June 27, 2012. There were six English teachers participated as samples of this community service. They were well-trained to write a scientific article. Finally, they are able to write a scientific article and it is published on ETERNAL Journal.Key words: scientific article, KEPMENPAN No 16 tahun 2009, Jabatan fungsional guru dan angka kredit. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk membantu para guru untuk mampu menghasilkan sebuah artikel yang layak untuk dipublikasikan dalam sebuah jurnal ilmiah yang terakreditasi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyaralat ini dilaksanakan dalam jangka waktu yang relative panjang yaitu mencapai 11 petemuan yang belangsung dari tanggal 19 Juni 2012 sampai 27 Juli 2012. Ada enam guru bahasa inggris yang menjadi sample dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini. Keenam guru tersebut kemudian didampingi dan diarahkan dalam menulis sebuah artikel ilmiah sesuai dengan ketentuan untuk dapat dipublikasikan dalam sebuah jurnal ilmiah. Berdaarkan hasil kegiatan, ke enam guru yang didampingi berhasil membuat satu artikel ilmiah yang sudah layak untuk publikasi.Kata kunci: artikel ilmiah, KEPMENPAN No 16 tahun 2009, Jabatan fungsional guru dan angka kredit.

Abstract: This community service is carried out in form of trainingin making teaching and learning media in the form of CD-O (CDOnline)for teachers of Theresiana Junior High School 1 inSemarang. It was held on Saturday, August 6th 2011 in Laboratory ofTheresiana Junior High School 1 and Sunday, August 7th 2011 inIKIP PGRI Semarang laboratory. There were 20 teachers ofTheresiana Junior High School 1 which were taken part in thiscommunity service. The purpose of this community service is thatteachers are able to make blog and learning materials through CDOnline.It is expected that they can create an innovative learningmaterial. Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan penyusunan proposal PTK bagi guru-guru SMA di Kecamatan Gubug, Kabupaten Grobogan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme guru dalam menyusun proposal PTK yang nantinya berguna bagi guru tersebut untuk mengembangkan kinerjanya melalui pelaksanaan PTK. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini telah dilaksanakan pada hari Rabu, 5 Februari dan 7 Februari 2014 dalam bentuk pelatihan penyusunan proposal PTK, yang bertempat di SMA N 1 Gubug, Grobogan. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan pembimbingan secara individu melalui media online tanggal 10-15 Februari 2014 dengan alokasi waktu 12 jam. Selanjutnya adalah kegiatan pembimbingan evaluasi proposal melalui media online dengan alokasi waktu 12 jam pada minggu ketiga. Jumlah peserta pelatihan adalah 20 guru dari beberapa mata pelajaran yang berbeda yang berasal dari SMA N 1 Gubug, Grobogan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah ceramah, tanya jawab, pelatihan, dan diakhiri dengan penugasan menyusun proposal PTK. Hasil dari kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini adalah peserta mampu menyusun proposal PTK yang sebelumnya diawali dengan pelatihan penyusunan proposal PTK, kemudian pembimbingan secara individual. Setelah itu diadakan evaluasi proposal PTK yang telah disusun oleh peserta.   Kata kunci: Kompetensi Guru, PTK

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini telah dilaksanakan dengan baik dalam bentuk penyuluhan di kelurahan Gedawang. Kegiatan ini melibatkan tim dari Universitas PGRI Semarang dan Ibu-Ibu PKK kelurahan Gedawang. Dalam pelaksanaanya, kegiatan ini mendapatkan respon yang sangat baik. Hal ini ditandai dengan antusiasme warga/ibu-ibu PKK kelurahan Gedawang dalam mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 24 Januari 2015 dan dilanjutkan lagi pada  tanggal 7 Maret 2015. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah terbinanya kesadaran dan pengetahuan yang baik terhadap masalah-masalah dalam mendidik anak khususnya anak usia dini. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan tanya jawab langsung. Hasil akhir dari kegiatan IbM ini menunjukan bahwa warga/Ibu-Ibu PKK memerlukan lebih banyak informasi dan pengetahuan yang berkaitan dengan bagaimana proses mendidik anak usia dini dan bagaimana menyelesaikan masalah-masalah yang di alami oleh anak usia dini. Hal tersebut telah dibahas dengan lengkap pada penyuluhan sehingga sekarang ini warga /ibu-ibu Kelurahan Gedawang telah dapat mengurangi permasalahan yang mereka hadapi selama proses mendidik anak-anak mereka yang masih dalam usia dini.
