Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the patterns of compound adjectives used in Heartland novel and the way on how Brooke (2001) developed them in her writing. To reach the objective, the writer focused on attributive adjectives in every sentence. Content analysis approach was applied to analyze the data. The writer found that there are eight patterns based on the morphological processes happened. Seven of those patterns agree with theory by Delahunty and Garvey (2010), while one pattern remaining includes irregular compound adjective. The eight patterns of compound adjectives consist of: A-A (54); Adv-A (11); A-N (5); N-A (5); V-N (2); P-N (1); V-A (1); and irregular compound adjective (2). Furthermore, Brooke (2001) wrote those compound adjectives in some different ways: putting commas (,), giving hyphen (-), ordering according to the rules, putting space, or writing closely. At the end, these findings are expected to give contribution to language learning, specifically writing descriptive paragraph. Students will have more detailed and vivid writing which can arise the emotional feelings of the readers only by imitating and adjusting the pattern and the way of writing compound adjectives. Abstract

      Baratan Village, Patrang Sub-district, Jember District has a high potential production of cassava chips by Home Industry (IRT). Solid waste of cassava (cassava husk) from cassava processing into cassava chips has not been utilized properly. Cassava husk can be used as raw material for animal feed. The purpose of this program is the empowerment of the community of Baratan IRT in the processing of cassava husk into broiler feed and to increase the value of the waste and can improve the economic of the IRT in Baratan Village. Cassava husk has a deficiency because of the antinutrient content (Cyanide Acid) and dangerous when consumed. The methods used in this program are counseling and chipping of cassava with chipping tools, counseling and training of utilitation of cassava waste, counseling and training of broiler feed formulation, pelet making, mentoring, monitoring and evaluation. The result of this program is the IRT Baratan Village Jember Regency is able to process the solid waste from processing of cassava chips into broiler feed (pelet). Guidebooks can be used by IRT well so they can treat the waste into feed independently. IRT cassava chips as a partner of this program can implement and apply the technology that has been given and strive to always continuous in the manufacture of feed and pellet product development in an effort to improve the welfare and sustainability of the program.Keywords: cassava waste, pelet feed, Baratan Village

Abstract

The ultra-hydrophobic surface on Indonesia bamboo timber has been successfully prepared using OFP (2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoro-1-pentanol) as a modifier agent. The hydrothermal method has been used to fabricate anatase TiO2 film followed by OFP modification. Maximal water contact angle of 123ο has been obtained for the composition of 10 mL of OFP and 15 mL of 2-propanol (B-T-OFP10). XRD analysis showed the existence of pure anatase TiO2 film on bamboo timber, confirmed by EDS result. SEM image of a TiO2-coated and a typical ultra-hydrophobic bamboo timber revealed irregular aggregates of spherical TiO2 on the surface and compact ultra-hydrophobic  surface, respectively. The optimum sample (B-T-OFP10) showed excellent mechanical stability, self-cleaning property, and flame retardancy compared to pure bamboo timber.

Abstract

The tropical bamboo has been widely used in modern society as a potential material for various applications. It is well known that bamboo has low durability due to its hydrophilic properties. To overcome this problem, the superhydrophobic surface on Indonesian bamboo timber had been successfully fabricated via hydrothermal deposition of an anatase TiO2 and solution immersion of octadecyltrichlorosilane (ODTS), which exhibited a maximum water contact angle (WCA) of 155°. The as-fabricated superhydrophobic bamboo timber not only showed high mechanical resistance against the abrasion of SiC sandpaper but had also been proven to possess high chemical stability after immersion in acidic and basic aqueous solutions. Moreover, the superhydrophobic bamboo timber also demonstrated excellent self-cleaning and flame-resistance properties, in comparison to pure bamboo timber. It is believed that the strategy offered in this study can increase the utilization of bamboo timber for various purposes, especially as a self-cleaning material.

Abstract

Desa Baratan, Kecamatan Patrang, Kabupaten Jember memiliki potensi tinggi dalam usaha produksi keripik singkong yang dikelola oleh Industri Rumah Tangga (IRT). Limbah padat berupa kulit singkong yang dihasilkan dari pengolahan singkong menjadi kripik singkong belum termanfaatkan dengan baik. Kulit singkong dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku pakan ternak. Tujuan dari program ini adalah pemberdayaan masyarakat IRT Desa Baratan dalam pengolahan kulit singkong menjadi pakan pelet ayam pedaging sehingga menambah nilai guna dari limbah tersebut dan mampu meningkatkan ekonomi para pelaku IRT keripik singkong di Desa Baratan. Kulit singkong memiliki kekurangan karena kandungan antrinutrisi (Asam Sianida) yang berbahaya apabia dikonsumsi. Metode yang digunakan dalam program ini yaitu penyuluhan dan percontohan pemotongan singkong dengan alat chipping, penyuluhan dan pelatihan pemanfaatan limbah kulit singkong, penyuluhan dan pelatihan formulasi pakan ayam pedaging, pembuatan pelet, pendampingan, monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil dari program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah kelompok IRT Desa Baratan Kabupaten Jember mampu mengolah limbah padat pengolahan keripik singkong menjadi pakan pelet ayam pedaging. Buku panduan dapat digunakan oleh masyarakat dengan baik sehingga IRT dapat mengolah limbah menjadi pakan secara mandiri. IRT keripik singkong selaku mitra program pengabdian ini dapat melaksanakan dan menerapkan teknologi yang telah diberikan dan berusaha untuk selalu kontinu dalam pembuatan pakan serta pengembangan produk pelet sebagai upaya meningkatkan kesejahteraan dan keberlanjutan program.  Kata kunci: limbah kulit singkong, pakan, Desa Baratan

Abstract

Kima (Tridacnidae) merupakan moluska laut yang hidup di ekosistem terumbu karang dan ditemukan di wilayah perairan Indo-Pasifik. Kima memiliki banyak manfaat, sehingga banyak yang melakukan eksploitasi Kima secara berlebihan sehingga menyebabkan penurunan jumlah kima di dunia. Konservasi kima merupakan upaya yang dilakukan dalam melindungi dan melestarikan populasi Kima yang telah menurun jumlah populasinnya serta meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat pesisir salah satunya pada perekonomian masyarakat pesisir Pulau Sembilan, Kabupaten Sinjai. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kepustakaan (Library reasearch) dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data  dalam penelitian ini yakni jenis data sekunder yang diperoleh melalui studi literature dan internet searching yang berupa Buku, Jurnal, Skripsi, dan website resmi. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan tiga tahap yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Rancangan taman konservasi kima, terbagi atas tiga sub utama yakni (1) under sea area (area bawah laut), (2) indoor area (area dalam), (3) outdoor area (area luar). Penerapan Taman Konservasi Kima Berbasis Ekowisata dan Edukasi untuk  menarik perhatian pengunjung berwisata di Pulau Sembilan, sehingga memberikan peluang kepada masyarakat setempat upaya meningkatkan perekonomian Masyarakat Pulau Sembilan Kabupaten Sinjai melalui: (1) layanan transportasi Air bagi Wisatawan, (2) biaya tiket kunjungan wisata Taman Konservasi Kima, dan (3) hasil budidaya Kima. Taman Konservasi Kima berupa gagasan atau rancangan, sehingga perlu adanya strategi dalam merealisasikan gagasan tersebut  upaya meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat serta melestarikan populasi Kima di pulau Sembilan, Kabupaten Sinjai. Kata kunci: Edukasi, Ekowisata,  Perekonomian Masyarakat,  Taman Konservasi Kima

Abstract

This study is aimed to know the influence of development career and work environment and retention as an intervening variable on the performance of non-permanent civil service (Non-PNS) assigned as educational staff at the Hasanuddin University (Unhas). The research was a quantitative descriptive study with the use of the staff of Non-Permanent Civil Servant Education, called Tendik as respondents, that have been working for 5 to 10 years. Methods of data collection were used through the distribution of questionnaires which is tested the validity and reliability of all items evaluated afterward. Data analysis was performed using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) version 25 and analysed using path analysis. To evaluate the indirect effect between variables, the study applied the Sobel Test. The result of this study indicates that career development and the work environment have a significant effect on retention. To the second equation evaluated, the retention has a significant effect on performance. Interestingly, career development and the work environment have no significant effect on performance. The career development and the work environment have a significant effect on the performance through retention as an intervening variable.
