Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this study was to determine the chemical compound in leaves, stem, and root by GC-MS technique and antioxidant activity of torbangun leaves (Coleus amboinicus Lour). The torbangun leaves ethanol extract were tested to antioxidant activity assay using DPPH, and á-glucosidase inhibitory effects was measured with a spectrophotometric method. The analysis of leaves revealed the presence of Carbamic acid, monoammonium salt (CAS) Ammonium carbamate (11.73%), Hexadecanoic acid (CAS) Palmitic acid (8.35%), I-Limonene (5.92%), Heptadecene-(8)- carbonic acid-(1) (4.76%), Oxacycloheptadec-8-en-2-one (CAS) Ambrettolide (4.70%). The analysis of stem revealed the presence of Formamide (CAS) Methanamide (22.48%), 12,13- Dimethyl-2,7- dioxa 5,10 diazatricyclo [4.4.4.0(1,6)] trans -tetradecan-12 (13.22%), Hexadecanoic acid (CAS) Palmitic acid (11.51%), 2-Propanone, 1-hydroxy- (CAS) Acetol (10.14%), 9-Octadecen-1-ol, (Z)- (CAS) cis-9-Octadecen-1-ol (7.09%). The analysis of roots revealed the presence of Methanamine, N-methyl- (CAS) Dimethylamine (28.45%), Acetic acid (CAS) Ethylic acid (9.78%), 3.2-Propanone, 1-hydroxy- (CAS) Acetol (6.41%), 1-Propen-2-ol, acetate (CAS) Isopropenyl acetate (5.16%), 4.73 Phenol, 2-methoxy- (CAS) Guaiacol(4.73%). The DPPH result of torbangun leaves ethanol extract obtained by IC50 247,942 ppm and ascorbic acid standard was 1 ppm. IC50 values inhibition of á-glucosidase extract was >100 ppm and glucobay standard was 0.264 ppm. This research provided a chemical compound and the torbangun leaves ethanol extract capable of acting as antioxidant based on IC50 values.Keywords: antioxidant activity, chemical compound, Coleus amboinicus LourABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komponen senyawa kimia dalam daun, dahan, dan akar menggunakan analisis Kromatografi Gas-Spektrometri Massa (GC-MS) serta aktivitas antioksidan daun torbangun (Coleus amboinicus Lour). Daun torbangun yang diekstrak etanol dianalisis aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan test DPPH, dan daya hambat enzim á-glukosidase diukur dengan metode spektrofotometer. Hasil analisis dalam akar menunjukkan komponen kimia Methanamine, N-methyl-(CAS) Dimethylamine (28,45%), Acetic acid (CAS) Ethylic acid (9,78%), 3.2-Propanone, 1- hydroxy- (CAS) Acetol (6,41%), 1-Propen-2-ol, acetate (CAS) Isopropenyl acetate (5,16%), 4.73 Phenol, 2-methoxy- (CAS) Guaiacol (4,73%). Hasil uji antioksidan terhadap daun torbangun dengan metode DPPH didapatkan IC50 247,942 ppm dibandingkan standar vitamin C 1 ppm. Nilai IC50 dari penghambatan enzim á-glukosidase dalam ekstrak daun torbangun >100 ppm dibandingkan dengan standar glukobay 0,264 ppm. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa daun torbangun yang diekstrak dengan etanol mampu berperan sebagai antioksidan berdasarkan nilai IC50.Kata kunci: aktivitas antioksidan, Coleus amboinicus Lour, komponen kimia

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the frequency of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise on body fat of female university students. A quasi experimental design was applied by involving 21 undergraduate students who were divided into three groups of treatments moderate-intensity aerobic exercise intervention for eight weeks. The first group was two times a week, the second group was three times a week, and third group was four times a week. Primary data collected was included subcutaneous fat (triceps, abdomen, and thigh). The results showed that the third group has significantly difference in reducing body fats, namely 6.6 cm triceps, 5.4 cm abdomen, and 9.4 cm thigh (p<0.05).Keywords: aerobic exercise, body fat, moderate-intensityABSTRAKTujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis pengaruh frekuensi senam aerobik intensitas sedang (low impact) terhadap lemak tubuh mahasiswi. Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi eksperimen dengan subjek berjumlah 21 mahasiswi, kemudian dibagi kedalam tiga kelompok perlakuan dengan melakukan senam aerobik intensitas sedang selama delapan minggu. Kelompok pertama diberikan perlakuan dua kali dalam seminggu, kelompok kedua tiga kali dalam seminggu dan kelompok ketiga diberikan perlakuan empat kali seminggu. Data primer terdiri atas lemak tubuh (trisep, abdomen, dan paha depan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada kelompok tiga terdapat penurunan yang nyata (p<0,05) sebelum dan setelah perlakuan sebesar 6,6 cm trisep, 5,4 cm abdomen dan 9,4 cm paha depan.Kata kunci: aerobik, intensitas sedang, lemak tubuh

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe general objective of this study was to analyse nutritional adequacy, physical activity, and cardiorespiratory fitness among Indocement?s workers at Bogor. The cross-sectional study was applied with purposive sampling, involving 32 office workers and 32 plant workers. Most of subjects (59.4% and 78.2%) had a normal Body Mass Index (BMI). The mean VO2 max of plant workers (24.4±7.6 mL/kg/mnt) was higher than office workers (22.9±7.5 mL/kg/mnt). There were no differences of macrocutrients adequacy (energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrate) between two workers (p>0.05). Physical activity level of plant workers was higher than the office workers, and it was categorized as moderately active (59.4%), whereas the office workers categorized as sedentary (75.0%). The office workers had better exercise (160.3±118.0 minutes) than the plant workers (89.1±167.6 minutes). Moreover, there were differences on physical activity and habitual exercise between the two groups (p<0.05). The significant correlations between age, physical activity, and habitual exercise with VO2 max were found on plant workers (p<0.05), but not on office workers (p>0.05).Keywords: cardiorespiratory fitness, nutritional adequacy, physical activityABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis tingkat kecukupan gizi, aktivitas fisik, dan tingkat kebugaran kardiorespiratori pegawai PT. Indocement di Bogor. Desain penelitian adalah cross-sectional dengan purposive sampling, melibatkan 32 pegawai kantor dan 32 pegawai lapang PT. Indocement. Sebanyak 59,4% pegawai kantor dan 78,2% pegawai lapang memiliki IMT yang normal. Rata-rata VO2 max kelompok lapang (24,4±7,6 mL/kg/menit) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok kantor (22,9±7,5 mL/kg/menit). Tingkat kecukupan zat gizi kedua kelompok tidak berbeda (p>0,05). Sebagian besar (59,4%) pegawai kelompok lapang mempunyai kategori aktivitas sedang dan sebanyak 75,0% kelompok kantor mempunyai kategori aktivitas fisik ringan. Kebiasaan olahraga kelompok kantor lebih baik (160,3±118,0 menit) dibandingkan kelompok lapang (89,1±167,6 menit). Terdapat perbedaan aktivitas fisik dan kebiasaan olahraga antara kelompok kantor dan lapang (p<0,05). Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara usia, kebiasaan olahraga, dan aktivitas fisik dengan VO2 max pada kelompok lapang (p<0,05), dan tidak terdapat hubungan pada kelompok kantor (p>0,05).Kata kunci: aktivitas fisik, kebugaran kardiorespiratori, tingkat kecukupan zat gizi

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the glycemic index values of gembili products. The research consisted of three stages covered: (1) processing of gembili into three treatments (boiled, steamed, and fried), (2) analyzing of nutrient contents in gembili products, (3) measuring of glycemic index of three processed food. Moisture content (wet based/wb) in boiled, steamed and fried gembili were 68.09%, 62.11%, and 49.09% respectively. Ash content (dry based/db) in boiled, steamed and fried gembili were 1.62%, 2.15%, and 2.13% respectively. Fat content (dry based/db) were 0.63%, 0.37% and 7.75%, while protein content (dry based/db) were 3.71%, 2.99%, and 4.25%. Insoluble dietary fiber content (dry based/db) between 11.79% to 13.43%, while was higher than soluble dietary fiber content (dry based/db) between 5.84% to 10.88%. Total dietary fiber content (dry based/db) in boiled, steamed and fried gembili were 19.01%, 18.15%, and 24.30% respectively, while carbohydrate by difference content (dry based/db) were 91.05%, 93.33%, and 88.88% respectively. The results of this study indicated that all glycemic index values of gembili products were high (>70). Glycemic index values gembili boiled, steamed, and fried gembili were 85.56, 87.56, and 83.61 respectively. Analysis of variance test One Way ANOVA showed that those treatments did not significantly affect the glycemic index value (p> 0.05).

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze effect of multivitamin mineral supplementation to hemoglobin and hematocrit concentration of Bogor Agricultural University First Common Year female students. Design of this study was the quasi experimental, double blind, with number of subjects were 28 female students devided into two group. The intervention group consisted of 15 subjects, received supplement syrup 15 ml per day for eight weeks.The control group consisted of 13 subjects received placebo syrup. Data collected by interviewing subjects used questionnaire, physical examination, and blood biomarkers. The results of statistical test (paired sample t-test) showed that there were no significant increase in hemoglobin and hematocrit concentration respectively in both intervention and control groups (p>0.05). However, on a subset of subjects anemia, the hemoglobin and hematocrit in the intervention group tended to increase larger than the control group.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the association of nutritional status (Body Mass Index, waist circumference, waist-hip ratio, and body fat mass) and blood pressure with inflammation status which was assessed by blood C-reactive protein level in dyslipidemic subjects. The study design was cross sectional survey involving 81 dyslipidemic subjects in Bogor. The study showed that there were significant correlations between BMI, waist-hip ratio, body fat mass, and diastolic blood pressure with blood CRP level (p<0.05). In conclusion, the higher percentage of over nutritional status, body fat mass, and diastolic blood pressure, the higher status of inflammation.Keywords:

Abstract

The study was conducted to analyze the association between food consumption and physical activity with blood cholesterol level. The study design was cross sectional located in the District and the Municipality of Bogor. Subjects in this study were 64 adult men and women aged 25?60 years. Stepwise regression test results indicate that the intake of protein, carbohydrate and cholesterol did not significantly affected blood cholesterol levels. Physical activity level and gender significantly affected blood cholesterol levels (p<0.05). Dietary fiber intake and fat intake significantly affected blood cholesterol levels (p<0.10).

Abstract

This study was aimed to analyze the effect of multi-micronutrients (MMN) supplementation and nutrition education on nutrition knowledge, mean adequacy ratio (MAR) and iron status of young adolescent girls (YAG). The study was done in three purposively selected junior high schools (JHS) in rural Bogor by implementing a quasi experiment control trial for 112 YAG for 16 weeks: thirty five YAG in the first JHS as a MMN group (SG) were given three times of MMN tablets per week, forty two YAG in the second JHS were given MMN tablet plus nutrition education delivered by trained teacher fortnightly called SGP group and thirty five YAG in the third JHS as a control group. The result showed that the increment of nutrition knowledge score as well as MAR of SGP group were significantly higher than the other two groups. The decrement level of hemoglobin (Hb) in SG and SGP groups was significantly lower than in control group, but in the subset data of anemic group, both intervention groups had significantly increased level of Hb. This imply that nutrition education improved nutrition knowledge of YAG, but MMN tablet could not improve Hb level in general and only had effect on YAG suffering from anemia.Key words: multi-micro nutrients, nutrition education, iron status, adolescent girls

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe use of in vitro methods that mimic carbohydrate digestion in the gastrointestinal was expected to be able to predict glycemic response in human in a simple, faster and relatively inexpensive way. Englyst et al. (2003) and Argyri et al. (2016) became the selected in vitro method that tested their validity in this study by determine their ability to classify food according to the results of in vivo glycemic index (GI). The test uses rice with different GI categories (low, medium and high). Six rice varieties were cooked using a rice cooker then tested for proximate analysis (protein, fat, water, ash, carbohydrate), total dietary fiber, amylose, amylopectin and starch. A total of 20 subjects who met the inclusion criteria were divided into two comparable groups to measure their blood glucose levels for 2 hours after consuming test food. Cirebon black rice, Cisokan and Inpara 5 have moderate GI value, while Inpari 24, Sintanur and Grendel glutinous rice were classified as high GI value. Glucose levels of six rice varieties as measured by Englyst et al. (2003) at 20th minute and Argyri et al. (2016) at 120th minute has a comparable rank with in vivo glycemic index. Therefore, both methods are suitable for estimating GI value in rice samples.ABSTRAKPenggunaan metode in vitro yang meniru pencernaan karbohidrat dalam gastrointestinal diharapkan dapat memprediksi respon glikemik in vivo secara lebih sederhana, cepat dan relatif murah. Metode Englyst et al. (2003) dan Argyri et al. (2016) menjadi metode in vitro terpilih yang diuji validitasnya dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan keduanya dalam menggolongkan pangan sesuai hasil pengujian indeks glikemik (IG) in vivo. Pengujian menggunakan nasi dengan kategori IG berbeda (rendah, sedang dan tinggi). Sebanyak enam varietas beras dimasak menggunakan rice cooker kemudian nasi diuji kadar proksimat (protein, lemak, air, abu, karbohidrat), serat pangan total, amilosa, amilopektin dan pati. Sebanyak 20 orang yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dibagi dalam dua kelompok sebanding untuk diukur kadar gula darahnya selama 2 jam setelah mengonsumsi makanan. Nasi hitam Cirebon, Cisokan dan Inpara 5 memiliki nilai IG sedang, sedangkan nasi Inpari 24, Sintanur dan ketan Grendel tergolong berindeks glikemik tinggi. Kadar glukosa nasi yang diukur dengan metode Englyst et al. (2003) menit ke-20 dan metode Argyri et al. (2016) menit ke-120 apabila dibuat pemeringkatan terendah hingga tertinggi menunjukkan urutan peringkat yang sesuai dengan urutan nilai indeks glikemik in vivo. Oleh karena itu, keduanya menjadi metode yang sesuai untuk memperkirakan nilai indeks glikemik in vivo pada sampel nasi.

Abstract

The research aimed to produce biscuits formulated with Bilih fish and to analyse the effect of Bilih-fish-based biscuits on the growth of experimental rats. Six biscuit formulas were developed using three different amounts of Bilih fish flour (0 g, 20 g, and 30 g added to one formula dough) and two flavors (chocolate and vanilla). One biscuit formula was selected based on the best organoleptic test. Four treatments were applied to 24 male growing rats (21 day olds of the Spraque Dawley strain) for 28 days using a completely randomized design study. The treatments used were P1 (standard feed), P2 (standard feed + standard biscuits), P3 (standard feed + standard biscuits + pure omega-3 oil) and P4 (standard feed + the best formula biscuit). The parameters measured on rats were weight and tail length. The best formula biscuit based on the organoleptic test was the chocolate-flavor biscuits prepared with 20 g Bilih fish flour. The longest tail length was found in the P4 treatment (2,257±0.52 cm), which was significantly longer than the P2 (1.46±0.34 cm) and P1 (1.34±0.29 cm) treatments. No significant weight differences were found among the rats in all treatments. Hence, the chocolate-flavor biscuits formulated with the addition of 20 g Bilih fish flour increased the linear growth in experimental rats as shown by the significant difference in the tail lengths found in the treatment group.
