Abstract

The area of dry land for plantation cultivation is limited, so  peatland would be an alternative development. Adaptation of plant oil palm on the long inundation need to be investigated. This study aims to determine the growth response of oil palm seedlings in peat with some duration of flooding. The research was conducted in the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Musi Rawas at an altitude of 110 m above sea level on March to June 2014. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) consists of six treatments and four replications. Treatment includes without flooding, duration of flooding 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 days. The results showed that oil palm seedlings can survive up to 50 days of flooding. Long flooding inhibits the growth of plant height, number of leaves, reducing the amount of leaf chlorophyll. flooding also causes morphological changes in the root of the formation of adventitious shoots.

Abstract

Safriyaniet al, 2018. Correlation of Growth and Product Components on Integrated farming Padi-Azolla. JLSO 7(1):59-65.In order to increase the growth and production of rice plants that support sustainable agriculture can be done with the azolla application. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation of the components of growth and yield on rice-azolla production. The research was conducted on Karang Ketuan Subdistrict South Lubuklinggau II Subdistrict Lubuklinggau City from January to April 2018. This study used a randomized block consisting of K1=250 kg urea ha-1 without azolla, K2=250 kg urea ha-1+azolla 1000 kg ha-1, K3=187.5 kg urea ha-1+azolla 1000 kg ha-1, K4=125 kg urea ha-1+azolla 1000 kg ha-1, K5=62.5 kg urea ha-1+azolla1000 kg ha-1, K6=without Urea+azolla1000 kg ha-1. Data analysis used correlation and path analysis. The results showed that plant height and number of pithy grains correlated on grain weight with higher values than other growth components. Dry weight of straw and harvest index had a direct and positive effect on grain weight with cross coefficients value namely 1.086 and 0.755 representatives. Plant height and number of pithy grains could be used as an indicator of crop production.

Abstract

Luas areal lahan kering untuk budidaya perkebunan yang terbatas sehingga lahan rawa yang tergolong lebak dangkal menjadi alternatif untuk tempat budidaya perkebunan karet. Adaptasi tanaman karet terhadap genangan perlu diteliti. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji respon pertumbuhan berbagai umur bibit karet dari stum mata tidur terhadap tinggi genangan air. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Musi Rawas pada ketinggian 110 m dpl pada bulan Maret sampai Juni 2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Berbagi (RPB) dengan tiga kali ulangan, tinggi genangan sebagai petak utama dan umur bibit sebagai anak petak. Perlakuan tinggi genangan (petak utama) terdiri dari tanpa genangan, genangan tinggi 5 cm, 15 cm dan 25 cm. Genangan diberikan selama 3 bulan. Perlakuan umur bibit terdiri dari 2 level, yaitu 3 bulan dan 5 bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bibit tanaman karet dapat bertahan hidup 3-12 minggu tergantung tinggi genangan

Abstract

The efforts to develop and increase rice production in tidal land need appropriate technologies including adaptable superior varieties and efficient seed planting system. This study was aimed to measure the agronomic characteristic of the three rice varieties on the systems of in-row direct seeding and broadcast in tidal land. The experiment was carried out at type B of tidal land in Sidoharjo Village, Air Saleh Subdistrict, Banyuasin District, from January to April 2016. The experiment was conducted using split plot design with four replications. The main plot was seed planting system, consisted of in-row direct seeding system and broadcast system; whereas subplot was three rice varieties, consisted of  Inpari 22,  Inpara 4, and Ciherang.  Result of LSD test on interaction showed that though the best growth was obtained from the combination of Inpari 22 and in-row direct seeding and  very significant  with the others, but its yield was not significant with the combination of Inpara 4 and in-row direct seeding. It was concluded that Inpari 22 and Inpara 4 with in-row direct seeding system showed better growth and higher yield than Inpari 22, Inpara 4 and Ciherang with broadcast system in tidal lands. Ciherang was not suitable in tidal land, while Inpari 22 was suitable.

Abstract

Jagung manis merupakan salah satu produk hortikultura yang sampai saat ini permintaan akan produk tersebut semakin pesat. Salah satu faktor pembatas pertumbuhan tanaman jagung manis adalah hara. Keadaan hara di dalam tanah sangat menentukan hasil jagung manis. Upaya untuk mengatasi perbaikan kesuburan tanah adalah dengan pemupukan, baik menggunakan pupuk organik maupun pupuk anorganik. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Musi Rawas dari bulan November 2014 sampai Januari 2015, bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pupuk organik yang dikombinasikan dengan pupuk anorganik NPK terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman jagung manis. Penelitian menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang disusun secara faktorial dengan 2 faktor perlakuan dan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Adapun faktor perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah: 1). Perlakuan dosis pupuk organik, terdiri dari: O1 = tanpa pemberian pupuk organik (kontrol), O2 = pupuk organik 10 ton/ha atau 3,75 kg/petak dan O3 = pupuk organik 20 ton/ha atau 7,5 kg/petak ; 2). perlakuan dosis pupuk NPK terdiri dari: P1 = tanpa pupuk NPK (kontrol), P2 = pupuk NPK 243 kg/ha atau 90 g/petak dan P3 = pupuk NPK 486 kg/ha atau 180 g/petak. Berdasarkan hasil ansira bahwa perlakuan pupuk organik memberikan pengaruh nyata dan sangat nyata terhadap semua peubah yang diamati, demikian pula untuk perlakuan pupuk NPK kecuali peubah umur berbunga berpengaruh tidak nyata. Sedangkan kombinasi kedua perlakuan memberikan pengaruh interaksi yang tidak nyata. Dari hasil uji BNJ menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pupuk organik 20 ton/ha (O3) menghasilkan pertumbuhan terbaik dan produksi yang tinggi, demikian pula dengan perlakuan pupuk NPK 486 kg/ha (P3). Secara tabulasi kombinasi perlakuan yang memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi jagung manis diperoleh pada perlakuan O3P3.

Integrated Rice-duck-azolla farming is biologically controller of pests and weeds in rice plants. The research aims to evaluate the role of ducks and azollas in reducing pest and weed populations of rice plants. The research has been carried out in the irrigated rice fields of Tanah Periuk Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency from October 2018 to February 2019. The study used experimental method with a randomized block design, consisting of K1= 250 kg urea/ha: without ducks and azolla, K2 = 187.5 kg urea/ha: without ducks: azolla 1000 kg/ha, K3 = 187.5 kg urea/ha: duck 3000/ha: azolla 1000 kg/ha, K4 = 125 kg urea/ha: duck 3000/ha: azolla 1000 kg/ha, K5 = 62.5 kg urea/ha: duck 3000/ha: azolla 1000 kg/ha, K6 = without N: duck 3000/ha: azolla 1000 kg/ha. The application of 3000 ducks/ha and 1000 kg/ha azolla could reduce rice pests and weeds, including Nephotettix virescens 83.33%, Valanga SP 88.70% dan Scirpophaga innotata 83.57%, Fimbristylis dichotoma 84%,  Cyperus difformis 91.4%, Ludwigia adscendens 85.7% and Eclipta prostrata 80.8%.Keywords: azolla, duck, integrated farming, pest
