Abstract

Diatoms are the largest phytoplankton group and as the primary producer in marine waters. This research was conducted in September 2016 around Cawan Island of In-dragiri Hilir Regency of Riau Province. The aim of this research was to determine the structure of epiphytic diatom community on the midrib of Nypa fruticans and to deter-mine water quality as well as to see the relationship of epiphytic diatoms abundance with water quality. The survey method was applied in this research and sampling loca-tion determined by purposive sampling. Measurement of water quality was done by in situ and ex situ which consist of biology, physics and chemical parameters. Nitrate concentrations in waters ranged from 0,0139 to 0,0639 mg/l and phosphate concentra-tions ranged from 0,1342 to 0,2345 mg/l. The epiphytic diatoms on the midrib of Nypa fruticans in Cawan Island consist of 18 genera of diatoms, the average value of abun-dance ranged from 7.385 to 23.042 individual/cm2, the mean value of diversity index ranged from 1,41 to 2,05.The dominance index value ranged from 0,27 to 0,52 and the uniformity index value ranged from 0,58 to 0,91. Meanwhile, the correlation of diatom abundance with concentration of nitrate was 0,21 (weak relationship) and correlation of diatomic abundance with phosphate concentration was 0,11 (very weak relation-ship). Based on the result of epiphytic diatom calculation on the midrib of Nypa fruti-cans can be concluded that the waters in Cawan Island was in medium contaminated condition.

Abstract

Formal environmental education can be obtained at the school, because the school which isinvestment values about the environment in order to enhance students´ awareness of theenvironment. This needs to be inculcated in the students because they are the youngergeneration as a determinant of the future of the nation. Formulation of the problem in thisstudy is (1) whether there is a relationship between parental employment and livingenvironment with concern for the living environment (2) Which factor is most associatedwith concern of Students Cendana Junior High School Pekanbaru to school environmentbased on parental employment and living environment.Concern for the environment isinfluenced by various aspects such as knowledge, attitudes and responsibilities. Researchwas conducted in Pekanbaru Cendana Junior high school through survey methods, arequired primary data were obtained from leaners by questionnaire and secondary datahave been available at the school. Data analysis used chi-square tests and multipleregression analysis with helping of SPSS program.The results confirm that the studentscaring view of working parents whether they are CPI and non-CPI. Their parents who arenot CPI employees care more than CPI employees . While the students caring view ofliving environment in the complex and the outside of the CPI complex, the students who liveoutside of the CPI complex are more concerned than they live in the CPI complex. Comparethe children of CPI employees who live in complex and outside the complex, the children ofCPI employees who live outside the complex more concerned than they live in the complex.Then from the three variables that concern affecting are knowledge, attitude andresponsibility, the more dominant influence learners concern is the aspect of knowledge.

Abstract

The condition of good water quality is essential to support the survival of organisms that live in it. Determination of the status of water quality needs to be done as a reference in monitoring the water quality pollution.The purpose of this study to analyze and determine the status of water quality physically and chemically in the coastal waters Dumai. The method used in this research is survey method was conducted in December 2018 - April 2019 in the Coastal Water Dumai in Riau province. Sampling sites physical and chemical parameters determined by purposive sampling. Based on consideration of environmental conditions and Dumai City Regulation No. 11 In 2002, it was determined sampling consisted of four stations, with each station there are 5 sampling points were used as replicates. Determining the status of water quality using storet index and the index of pollution. Water quality measurement results About Coastal Dumai use Storet index and the pollution index shows that the coastal waters of Dumai categorized as Heavy Polluted waters.

Abstract

This research was conducted in April to Mei 2019 to determine the content of organic matter and abundance of phytoplankton, to find out differences in organic matter and phytoplankton abundance between station and to know the relationship between organic matter content and phytoplankton abundance as reference for determining the condition of the Sungai Guntung estuary, Kateman Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The method used in this study is  survey method, where the sampling locations consists of 4 research stations and each station consists of 3 sampling points. The results showed that organic matter content at station 1 had an average of 11.60 mg/l, station2 8.64 mg/l. Station 3 8.22 mg/l and station 4 8.22 mg/l. Phytopkankton species that found at Sungai Guntung estuary water is 21 species the Isthmia sp, Biddulphia sp, Chaetoceros sp, Rhizosolenia sp, Skeletonema sp, Thalassionema sp, Pleurosigma sp, Nitzschia sp, Synedra sp, Grammatophora sp, Thallassiothrix sp, Fragilaria sp, Navicula sp, Melosira sp, Asterionella sp, Cocconeis sp, Coscinodiscus sp, Stephanopyxis sp, Cyclotella sp, Bacteriastrum sp dan Oscillatoria sp. The highest abundance is in areas far from human settlements and around mangrove ecosystem, while the lowest abundance is in area near residential settlements and ports. Simple linear regression relationship between organic matter and the abundance of phytoplankton in Sungai Guntung estuary has a moderate relationship, where the correlation coefficient (r) = 0.36. The relationship between organic matter and phytoplankton abundance is negative, the higher the value of organic matter, the lower the abundance of phytoplankton..

Abstract

The amount of solid waste at station 1 to station more than 2 type of solid waste in the Black Water Strait of each station is almost the same, where the Black Water Strait is dominated by the type of waste plastic and small pieces of wood. In Black Water Strait encountered type of waste that generally consist of plastics, paper, rubber, foam, jute sacks, leaves, and small pieces of wood. From this we can conclude that the solid waste at both stations originate from the same source ie domestic waste. The strong tidal currents provide a direct influence on the amount of solid waste that are found in every point of the study and vice versa if the lower the pressure, the current is the entry-level waste into gear tends to be decreased.Keywords : Comparative Study, Solid Waste, Selat Air Hitam, Meranti Island

Abstract

The research aims to assess the environmental condition of the Kampar River waters based on the species and abundance of epiphytic diatoms, to know the species of epiphytic diatoms seen from water quality condition of Kampar River water sand to determine the dominant species of epiphytic diatoms. The research was conducted on February to March 2013 inthe Kampar River village of Buluh Cina. The method used was a survey method. Analysis and identification at laboratory of Aquatic Ecology Management of Waters Environment, Water Resource Management Department, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences University of Riau.The results of research were obtained the species and abundance of epiphytic diatoms as many as6 generas with to talabundance (cell/cm26870), of the value of diversity index (H) ranged (0.9312 to 1.8292), the value ofthe diversity index(E) ranged (from 0.1411 to 0.3328), and the dominance index (C) ranged (0.2868 to 0.6797). The results of measurements of water quality parameters of physics and chemistry in the waters of Kampar River Village of Buluh Cina: the temperature ranged from 28 to 310C, the brightness ranged from 40 to 106 cm, turbidity ranged from 5 to 17 NTU, flow velocity ranged from 3.5 to 12 cm/sec, dissolved oxygen ranged from 6 to 6.8 mg/l, pH ranged from 5.32 to 7.8, nitrate ranged from 0.06 to 0.08 mg/l, phosphate ranged from 0.01 to 0.07 mg/l. In general, waters quality condition of Kampar River Villageof Buluh Cina is still in good condition and support for living organisms, especially epiphytic diatoms. Abstract

The study was conducted in Mempura region, Siak regency for 5 month, from July to November 2012. The aims of this study are: 1) to definite potential value of nature in Mempura region Siakregency; 2) to identify strength, weakness, opportunity and threat of Mempura region according to criteria of ecotourism, and 3) to define strategies for developing ecotourism in Mempura region. Descriptif methode is used in this study with SWOT analysis to take for certain development strategies of ecotourism based on area potencies result.Result of this study showed that: Mempura region has a great potentials for the development of ecotourism. It main source of attractions was the panorama/view of river, forest and durian garden. In addition, historical site and traditional culture activities provided additional attractions, as well as flora and fauna that varied in the region.Management strategies priority for ecotourism in the regionare : 1)increasing service and ease, 2)empowering regional planning aspect for ecotourism, 3)improvinghuman resources andecotourismfacility, 4) Involving local awareness andinisiative, 5)increasing promotion of ecoturism in Mempura region, 6) increasing monitoring activity in conservation of nature and local culture, and 7), involving management of ecotourism in Mempura region.Key word: Siak Regency, Mempura region, Ecotourism, Development strategy

Abstract

ABSTRACTA Study on the abundance of Chaetodontidae, coral cover and  relationship of  abudance with coral cover were conducted from May -          July 2019 in the Lagoi Waters of Bintan Regency of  Riau Islands Province. Abudance of fish observed with Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method while coral cover with Reef Check  method. Apparently the abundance of Chaetodontidae fish ranged from 313.3 - 603.3 ind/ha whereas coral cover ranging from 46 - 74%.Forthat, abudance of coral fish corelated (r = 0.977) with coral cover, suggest that, there is a very strong relationship between live coral cover and Chaetodontidae fish. Key words :Chaetodontidae, Coral Reef, Lagoi Waters

Abstract

Research on the structure community of planktonic diatom with nitrate andphosphate concentrations in sei undan estuarine sub district of Reteh district ofIndragiri Hilir was conducted on May 2013. The aims of this study was todetermine the community structure of planktonic diatom which includes index ofdiversity, index of dominan and index of uniformity and was to determine therelationship between the nitrate and phosphate consentration with the abundanceof diatom. Sample were taken at 4 station each station was divided into 3sampling points. The identification result of sampel obtained 7 species of centricdiatoms anda 1 species of pennate diatom. The highest abundance of diatom wasfound in station 2 (7.846,95 ind/L) and the lowest was found in station 4 (2.615,65ind/L). The highest individual abundance was shown by Nitzschia pungens andLeptocylindrus minimus. It was indicated that dominan species in the waters.Based on index of diversity, index of dominan and index of unifornity the areawas categorized as mesotrofic area.Keyword: Sei Undan Estuarine, Diatom, Structure Community, Nitrate & Phosphate

Abstract

This research was conducted from April-Mei 2013 in the Waters around the Estuary Sei Undan, Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir, Riau Province. The aim of this research is to understand the distribution and abundance of epiphytic diatom presenting on the trunk of the Avicennia sp which is related to water quality factor. Survey method was applied on this research where data were obtained by direct observation in the field. The samples of epiphytic diatom were analyzed in the Laboratory of Marine Biology. Water quality parameters were measured in situ.Six species of epiphytic diatom were found on the trunk. The abundance of epiphytic diatom on the trunk ranged from 0 to 9.59 ind/cm2. Beside that, water quality parameters were in the sufficient range for marine epiphytic diatom.Keywords: epiphytic, diatom, avicennia sp, Sei Undan
