Abstract

This study discusses Kakawin Hariwangsa and Geguritan Hariwangsa. The purpose of research describing the structure of narrative and how far do the reception kakawin into shape geguritan. This study used structural theory of Teeuw, and reception theory of Junus powered by Jausz, Kelvin, and Fokema. Methods and techniques use divided into three stages, namely: (1) at the stage of providing data used method of reading aided engineering log and translation techniques, (2) at the stage of data analysis used descriptive comparative aided engineering analytical description, and (3) at the stage of presentation of the results of analysis Data used informal methods aided engineering inductive and deductive. The results achieved in this study, known Kakawin Hariwangsa narrative structures using a loose groove with the background of a kingdom Dwarawati, Kundina kingdom, the kingdom of the Pandavas, and setting time in the afternoon. The characters in Kakawin Hariwangsa namely Sang Krishna, Dewi Rukmini, Sang Jarasandha, Sang Pandavas and Hyang Narada. Themes in kakawin hariwangsa is loyalty and mandate that every person who faithfully and waited for her beloved then they will meet and unite with the person loves. Geguritan Hariwangsa using loose groove with background Dwarawati kingdom, the kingdom Kundina, the kingdom Magada, garden Kundina kingdom, and the kingdom Indraprasta and timescapes afternoon, seven in the evening, a full moon toward the fourth month, the afternoon before the evening and when the day was good. The characters in the Geguritan Hariwangsa namely Sang  Krishna,Dewi  Rukmini, Sang Jarasandha, Hyang Narada SangYudistira, Sang Arjuna, Sang Bima, Ni Kesari and I Priambada. Themes in kakawin hariwangsa is loyalty and mandate that we have to wait for someone to love us because no matter how hard we will unite separated. Kakawin Hariwangsa of narrative structure and Geguritan Hariwangsa obtained reception of kakawin towards geguritan where reception is not done thoroughly because there are some differences.

Abstract

Bahasa Bali sebagai salah satu bahasa dan perekam budaya Bali sangat penting untuk dipelihara. Pemeliharaan bahasa Bali juga diharapkan untuk mempertahankan taksu Bali. Di Bali ada tingkatan(anggah-ungguhin basa) berbahasa yang menyebabkan terdapatnya klasifikasi sosial dalam masyarakat Bali.  Kemampuan seseorang dalam menggunakan bahasa Bali memperlihatkan kedudukan sosial dan etika orang tersebut dalam berbahasa. Kemudian muncul pertanyaan ketika orang Bali berbicara dalam bahasa Bali tanpa menguasai tingkatan bahasa. Untuk situasi sopan dan harmonis, penutur bahasa Bali diharapkan mampu menggunakan bahasa yang tepat sesuai dengan tingkatan berbahasa (saling singgihang).

Abstract

This research on Tutur Angkus Prana is to discuss on structural study and semiotic matters. The aim of this structural analysis is to assess the manuscript structure, and so the semiotic analysis is to analyze signs on Tutur Angkus Prana that contain a specific meaning. The result of this research is the unfolding and explanation on Tutur Angkus Prana that is involved with intrinsic structure on the relevant text, that is usada, mantra, upakara, and language style. The understanding of Bapa and Ibu on Tutur Angkus Prana, karma and reincarnation, and kamoksan (kalepasan) as symbols.

Abstract

  Research the Babad Danghyang Bang Manik Angkeran: study of the structure and function against the backdrop of an interesting story from the Babad Danghyang Bang Manik Angkeran and contains lineage of the clan. Research Babad Danghyang Bang Manik Angkeran aims to provide knowledge and insight to traditional Balinese society, that Babad the importance of literature in life, which can provide a living learning of the meaning contained in it. The theory used is the structural theory and the theory of functions. Structural theory used is the structural theory by Jonathan Culler and Darusuprapta. The theory used function is the function theory developed by S.O Robson and Teeuw. In this study, used several methods to simplify the research process. The methods used are: (1) phase of the provision of data using the methods of literary study and consider methods. While the technique used is the technique of translation, (2) the stage of data analysis using qualitative methods, and techniques used are descriptive, and 3) the stage of presentation of the results of data analysis using formal and informal methods. While the technique used is the technique of deductive and inductive techniques. The results of this study are unfolding structures that build Babad Danghyang Bang Manik Angkeran, content, and functionality contained therein. The structure of the building Babad Danghyang Bang Manik Angkeran include characters, plot, and theme. Which shows the whole sequence and intact furthermore, elements Babad Danghyang Bang Manik Angkeran, namely Mythology (angel), Legend (the origin of the Strait of Bali), hagiography (miracle), Symbolic (symbols), and Suggestion (divination). Functionality in the Babad Danghyang Bang Manik Angkeran among which historical function, the function of religious and social functions.

Abstract

Research on DarmakayaGeguritan text is about the analysis of the structure and function. This analysis has the objective to describe the structure and functions contained in the text GeguritanDarmakaya.                This study uses the theory of structural and function. Structural theory based on the theory of Teeuw and Luxemburg, the function is used from theory Damono, Methods and techniques used is divided into three stages, namely (1) the stage of the provision of data by using the method of literature study and the technique used is the technique of recording, and assisted with translation techniques (2) the stage of data analysis, using qualitative methods and techniques used is descriptive and analytical techniques, and (3) the stage of data analysis using formal methods informally assisted with deductive and inductive techniques.                Disclosure of text structure GeguritanDarmakaya structure forms include; code language and literature, style and variety of language and narrative structure includes; incident, plot, character and characterization, setting, theme and mandate. Functions contained therein, is the function of affirmation, negation function and aesthetic function.

Abstract

This study employs the texts of I Gede Basur and I Ketut Bungkling contained inthe text of Kidung Prembon (abbreviated into KP) as the data source to explain theintertextual relationship and receptive process of the texts of Geguritan I Gede Basur(abbreviated into GIGP) and Geguritan I Ketut Bungkling (abbreviated into GIKB)written by Ki Dalang Tangsub. The reason is that when this study was conducted theneither the text of GIGB nor GIKB written by the authoritative Ki Dalang Tangsub wasfound. Then the text of KP has multiple functions; on one side, as an existing text, it isassumed to contain the texts of GIGB and GIKB written by the authoritative Ki DalangTangsub, and on the other side, it is a receptive text of the texts of GIGB and GIKBwritten by Ki Dalang Tangsub.The theories of intertexts, reception and discourse were used as the means ofanalysis in this study. The theory of intertexts could reveal the historical process of thetexts of GIGB and GIKB written by Ki Dalang Tangsub and the creation process of thetext of KP. The theory of reception was basically used to explain the process of how thereaders gave responses to the texts of GIGB and GIKP written by Ki Dalang Tangsub.The process of how the readers gave responses was revealed by the text of KP (in clockstories) as well as the other individual texts.Intrinsically, the texts of GIGB and GIKB written by Ki Dalang Tangsub giveparticular colors to the texts of the responses given, as Pupuh/Tembang Ginada (strophe)is entirely adopted in the texts of responses given the readers making the particularcharacteristics of the hypogram texts compared to the following texts clear. Havingmagical and social critical themes, many hyperboles, similes and sarcasms are used in thetexts of GIGB and GIKB written by Ki Dalang Tangsub. The plots of the texts of GIGBand GIKB are made up of 28 big sequences and 29 small sequences with the maincharacters are I Gede Basur and I Ketut Bungkling (Mantri as one of the characters).

Abstract

This study aims to find the functions and ideologies of Depeha Village folklore entitled Sang Sandiaka. The focus of the problems to be studied in this study consists of three things; they are: (1) to find out the narrative structure of the folklore of Sang Sandiaka, (2) to find out the functions of the story, and (3) to find out the ideologies in it. The type of this study is qualitative. The theories used in this study are the morphological theory , the function theory and the mythological theory. The data were collected through documentation and interview. Thus the analysis started with a review of Sang Sandiaka's story, then the narrative structure and the function as well as the meaning of the story, and the ideologies contained in it were presented. The results of this study showed that: (1) the story of Sang Sandiaka functions to remind the past, as non-formal education of the community and as the entertainment for the Depeha Village community, and (2) the ideologies which the folklore contain are the ideology of leadership and the ideology of social equality.

Abstract

This study discuses about text of Babad Pasek Kayu Selem because it has its own uniqueness campares with other literatures, that have forma structure and whole narrative. This study has purpose to help building, preserving, and developing traditional literature especially history (babad) in Bali. The theory that used in this study is structural theory by Teeuw that supported by other researches. In analizing, this study used a method that consists of several steps. They are (1)collecting data, (2)data analysis, (3)result presentation. This study found that the structure of Babad Pasek Kayu Selem is revealed both in forma structure and narrative structure with covers the language which based on this study used Kawi Bali language. Meanwhile, from the content covers plot that is straight plot, which in this history consist of situation, generating circumstances, climax, and denoument, incident; there is 8 incident, 12 backrounds of place and 7 backrounds of time, theme that is the origin of Bhujangga exsistence in Tampurhyang with variety limitations and prohibition, character which cover 1 main character, 1 secondary character, and 13 complementary character, and massage that is to remind the generation of Pasek Kayu Selem to the forefathers and where they are from.

Abstract

This article examines Balinese text of usada genre as a basis for traditional medicine and as a model of the text purification. The importance of this study is done considering that in maintaining health or treating diseases, people consume chemical and herbal medicine as an alternative. Despite of the high prices of medicines and herbals, Balinese people rarely use herbal ingredients recommended in the usada text. Furthermore, usada texts that circulated in public contain many mistakes and consequently errors in selecting medicinal ingredients. This study uses qualitative data by comparing three texts from the Usada Cukil Daki manuscripts. The theory used to study is the traditional philology to get the case of incorrect copying of Balinese letter text to Latin letters. The results obtained indicate that there are many errors in the copy and wrong writing in the decrease in text.
