Abstract

Nature resource utilization by local peoples around the resource have been part of Indonesian culture, occuring at many places, for instance in expansion area of Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP). Research was directed to describe the access pattern (way of getting access and access utilization forms) in frame on formulating model and strategy of restoration activities implementation. Research result shown that community access interrelated  with history of this area management and dependency of land user to forest resources that is influenced by land property factor, agronomic culture, and local institution; also shown that there are 2 (two) types of community  access goals i.e. non woody forest product harvesting and forest land using as agronomic activity that can be differenced  into 5 sub-types utilization forms base on kind of commodities (main food, horticulture, trees, Multi Purpose Tree specieses, and medicinal crop); 3 sub-tipes base on  time scale of commodities production (seasonal, annual, perenial); and 4 sub-tipes based on agronomic pattern (agronomic system base), i.e: vegetable base, rice-horticulture base, casava-banana base, and agroforestry. Finding 5 kind of access patterns of community to gain access on forest land i.e:  land distribution pattern, self-community inisiative pattern, inheritance pattern, compensation cost pattern, and pawning/rental pattern. Abstract

Generally, at the growth phase of the forest, plants, for example ground plant can absorb CO2more higher than climax forest. This study was aimed to determine biomass and ground plants carbon around Tambing lake. Research was carried out in Tambing lake, Lore Lindu National Park area, from August through October 2013. Quantifying biomass was done by destructive method by collecting all ground plant samples in plots. Ten plots (1m x 1m) were established in south, east, north, and west part of the lake with distance between the plot is 10 m. The results showed that the biomass average were 0.26 ton ha-1, 0.48 ton ha-1, 1.12 ton ha-1and 0.93 ton ha-1 in south, east, north and west part of the Tambing lake, respectively. Hence, the average number of carbon were 0.12 ton ha-1, 0.22 ton ha-1, 0.52 ton ha-1 and 0.44 ton ha-1 in south, east, north and west part of the Tambing lake, respectively. Abstract

Leda (Eucalyptus deglupta) is one kind of endemic flora of Celebes that its natural spread area side on Lore Lindu National Park (LLNP). The aim of this research was pointed to investigate the physiccally charracteristic of Leda habitat. The usage of this research is hoped to enrich scientific information in order to improve understanding about charracteristic of Leda habitat. This research was conducted in highing track of Nokilalaki Mount – LLNP territory, Nokilalaki District – Sigi Regency, as long as two months (October up to December 2013) used survay methode and laboratory analysis, by the placement of 7 (seven) sampling plots used purposive sampling methode at the location where be found habitat of Leda based on the high from sea level. Getting of soil samples used soil sample rings,than be analyzed on soil textures, permeabilities, bulk densities, and soil porousities.This research results shown that the charracteristic of Leda habitat in highing track of  Nokilalaki Mount be located on (1110-1206) meters from sea level high, with land slope (8-15)% (enough obliquity), the temperature on morning time (19-20)°C and afternoon time (19-23)°C, the air moisture on morning time (81-90)% and afternoon time (76-91)%, intensity of sun shine (80-400) lux. Physiccally charracteristic of soil texture are clay-clayey-sandy, clay-sandy, clayey-sandy, and clayey. Soil permeabilities (15.05-47.61) cm/hour (Fast andVery Fast catagories). Bulk density (0.91-1.27) g/cm3 (Fair and High catagories) and porousity (51.92-65.61)%. Kata Kunci : habitat, Leda, Lore-Lindu, Nokilalaki, physiccally-charracters.

Abstract

Rattan is persevering climbing plant and almost can grow in all areas. Rattan is one of forest plant and have commercial price at market. At the public this plant can grow naturally, spread begin from the beach until the mountain and grow fast and relative easy to harvest and transport. Rattan stick can reach for the hundreds meter. Spray water if we slash the stick and can be used for survival at the forest. This research purpose to know many types of rattan at the protection forest area in Dampelas Sojol subdistrict Donggala regency. This research using the box line method with cut contour line. Supervision form with long track 100 m and wide 20 m. furthermore build 20 sub box with format 10 X 10 meter. Number of supervision is 3 track with box placement and intentional directed according “purposive sampling” basic on the area can grow rattan . Research result indicate that kind variety of rattan in Dampelas Sojol subdistrict Donggala regency main kind variety of rattan cacing (Calamus melanoloma Mart) lambang (Calamus ornatus), tohiti (Calamus inops), batang (Calamus zollingeri Becc) and noko (Calamus koordersianus Becc),. The kind of rattan was so dominate is worm rattan with INP 76,67 %. Index kind variety of rattan at the protection forest area in Dampelas Sojol subdistrict Donggala regency include very low with H’ number 0,52 %. Key word: rattan, protection forest, Donggala.

Abstract

Tarsier (tarsius dentatus) is an endemic species in Sulawesi Island, these animals have a strong dependence on the forest. The objective of this study was to identify the physical conditions (abiotic) of tarsier habitat focused on the altitude, air temperature, air humidity and slope. These data were collected by conducting surveys and observation of the purposive sampling plot that was located in tarsier habitat in Lore LIndu National Park area around the village of Sungku. Physical conditions of the tarsier habitat were descriptively analyzed from identification, observation, measurement and actual conditions in the field. The result would be then compared with the other tarsier habitats at LLNP in village of Kamarora, Palolo sub-district. The altitude discovered tarsier habitat at the village Sungku is at 702-861- m a.s.l. the air temperatures range 20,33°C-24,66°C and humidity in the morning, and afternoon and evening were 85,3%, 71% and 75,3% is respectively. The slope of tarsier habitat varied from steep up to very steep (25%-40%). Where as in Kamarora village, tarsier habitat was at an altitude of 694 m a.s.l., whit a slope of 10%, air temperature (20,77°C-27,1°C) and humidity (72,3%-82%). The tarsier nets were observed during the study were at the bamboo cluster and Ficus sp. Tree. Keywords: Tarsier, tarsius dentatus, Habitat, Lore Lindu National Park.

Abstract

The main function of Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve is as an area for protection of ebony (Diospyros celebica Bakh) species. The aims of this study was to analyze vegetation based on forest types in Pangi Binangga Nature reserve area. Study was conducted from March through May 2013. This research was use transect methods by purposive sampling. Classification of the forest based on the altitudes, i.e; 469 m asl (lowland forest) and 830 m asl (highland forest). The results showed that the vegetation at lowland forest (469 m asl) was dominated by Dracotamelon dao with important value index (IVI) (34.15%), and it was followed by Lithocarpus sp (36.26%), Palaqium obovatum (42.04%) and Asplenium nidus L (24.17%), at the tree, pole, sapling and seadling levels, respectively. Furthermore, the vegetation at highland forest (839 m asl) was dominated by Pometiapinnata J.R Forst with important value index (IVI) (42.25%), and it was followed by Conanga ordorata (57.12%), Michelia champaca (43.48%), and Memordica cochinchinensis (29.39%), at the tree, pole, sapling and seadling levels, respectively. Hence, index of similarity and index of dissimilarity between both forest types was 30.55%. Its means that similarity of the vegetation in this location was less (≤ 50%). Abstract

The readiness of farmer association institution and interaction of farmers association with in charge institution is an important element in developing community forest. The development of Community Forest in Kawende village started by people’s unrest about forest in their village that has suffered a distruction. The research was conducted for 3 months that began on September to November 2014 on two farmers associations of community Forest in Kawende village North Coastal Poso subdistrict, Central Sulawesi. The research began by doing observation in location and interview directly by choosing respondend directly (Purposive Sampling). The Instrument that  used in the research was people and and questions list for interviewing and also stationary and camera. The data Analysis used was institutional  analysis that more stressed on institutional structure and the rules that related to the ownership right and forest utilization (Ostrom, 1990 in Iqbal, M. 2009) by requiring primary data from interview and secondary data from the institution and literature review. The result of the research showed the villagers of Kawende had institution in form of organisation but the rule of the ownership and forst utilization still in charge of  Forestry Department of Poso District. The relation between farmers Association as candidates of Community Forest manager with involved institution was very good, it was known by the one who facilitated people ideas was Forestry Department of Poso District and Department of  Riverflow Area Management of Palu-Poso.Keywords : Farmers Association, Readiness, Institution, CommunityForets

Abstract

Sub watershed catchment area of Miu river is located at Sigi Regency  that has 70.494,5 hectare width. Part of the watershed become critical land since the community has less understanding and knowledge in land management.   The community use the land just for economic reason that is for fullfill their daily need without think about how to manage the land in right way so that land still in productive condition along time. This research aims are: (a) Knowing pattern of empowering commnunity, (b) Identifiying community group that involved on empowering activities, (c) Knowing accompanying methode on applied empowering community program, (d) Knowing obstacles on applied empowering community activities at upstream of sub watershed catchment area of Miu river. This research used interviewing methode, and as respondence are field facilitators and community.  The research data collecting include primary and secondary datas. The primary data need to answer research aims, while the secondary data need as supporting data analysis. The research result shown that empowering community activity in Winatu village has succed in target reaching, and can give contribution on SCBFWM project persistence. Pattern of empowering community that is given by SCBFWM project are establishment of farming group (CBO) Ulu Miu Pewatua, independency training to the group, contonuous socialization, land rehabilitation, developing agicultural and animal husbandry efforts, and  improvement on structure of farming group institution. The obstacles on empowering commnunity process direct to the non technicalproblems i.e. access problems to the location, activity level of the community and the topography condition of hilly Winatu village.Keywords: empowering community, Miu river, pattern, SCBFWM, watershed catchment.

Abstract

Education Forest of Tadulako University located in Central Sulawesi that has ± 6.000 Ha large  is one of habitat of Sulawesi endemic and rare animal, anoa. The research aimed to find out the characteristic of abiotic component of anoa (Bubalus sp) habitat in Education Forest of Tadulako University area. The conservation effort toward the rare animals necessary to be done in order to keep the preservation and the balance of ecosystem. The research applied survey method based the track and feces of anoa then the spot of anoa habitat determined. To take the sample of abiotic component of anoa habitat was done purposively where the mud hole found, the place to find food, drink, doing activity and taking rest of anoa. The research focused on abiotic components of anoa habitat such as , soil, water, temperature and air humidity. The information about soil, water, temperature, and air humidity of anoa habitat were expected to make the preservation activities of the wildlife easier. Based on the result of the research and laboratory analysis, five spots of observation of anoa; places for doing activities, for resting, for finding food, drinking and wallowing in the mud hole, the air temperature was about 190 C - 230 C and the air humidity was about 80,5% - 84,2%, turbiditas of dringking water was about 0,07 FAU, water of mud hole 0,22 FAU, water salinity and mud hole was 0,00 ppt, pH of drinking water was 6,75, water of mud hole was 5,66, pH of soil was about 4,38 - 5,68 and it dominated by clay soil, the height was about 690 - 712 mdpl  generally had slope slightly topography.Keywords : Anoa, Bubalus sp, Habitat, Education Fores

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that rich of natural resources which one of them is fauna. The variety of fauna is one of the certain natural wealth of Indonesia. Yet human characterisic to destroy forest has inflicted a loss. Therefore the fauna in its real habitat needs more attention so  it may become a media in conserving the fauna and the habitat in order to save it for the future generation. Means and infrastructure that can help to preserve the existing fauna are either conservation area, fauna rehabilitation or fauna park. The research was conducted in wildlife reserve of Tanjung Santigi in Santigi Village Ongka Malino Subdistrict Parigi Moutong District. The research was done for 3 month from August untill Oktober 2015, with observation period began at 06.00 up to 09.00 in the morning and obserbvation began at 16.00 – 18.00  in the afternoon. The technique of data gathering was done by using transect path and interviewing people around Wildlife Reserve of Tanjung Santigi, the observation on the location was done by following direction and  position of transect diameter slowly and at the same time making note of any reptile species found. The observation way was 3000 meter lenght with 50 meter lenght of left and right side. The data analysis consisted of species composition, evenness index and variety index. The result of the research that was done in wildlife resrve of  Tanjung Santigishowed that there were 5 reptile species found with the number of individual 48 that consisted of lizard (Cryptoblepharus novaeguinaeae), monitor lizard  (Varanus indicus), black snake (Ramphotyphlopsbraminus), small lizard (Hemidactylus frenatu), and house lizard (Gecko-gecko). The number of the reptiles found was affected by some factors, they were  effort  that was done in finding reptile. The effort counting was based on the time needed in searching in the location and the width of surveied area. Based on te result, it was found that on observation track that the variety index in the Wildlife Reserve area of Tanjung Santigi was low enough with H=1,036.Keywords: Exploration of Reptile Species, Variety, Evenness, Wildlife Reserve of Tanjung Santigi.
