Abstract

In this paper, the effect of moisture on the durability of composite repair is investigated using fracture mechanics approach. The specimens of double cantilever beam were made from two composites adherend (fiberglass/unsaturated polyester) bonded by epoxy adhesives. The adherend were immersed in the distillate water to gain moisture and then dried in different drying conditions at room temperature (RT) for 12 hours followed by 100 oC for 15 minutes, 50 oC for 5 hours and 100 oC for 2.5 hours. The spesimen was wedged tested in both dry and wet condition in room temperature. The results show that the lower moisture about 2.8%wt according to drying temperature 100 oC give the better durability followed by drying temperature of 50 oC and room temperature. The indication is shown by stable crack growth at higher fracture energy and also by low crack speed at higher fracture energy. Whereas, for wet testing, the better result is reached by drying temperature of 50 oC (moisture contents of 4,4 %wt) and for dry temperature of 100 oC give the worst result. The contradiction suggested that drying temperature for adherend of composite repair should not higher than 100 oC. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Dalam paper ini pengaruh kelembaban pada perbaikan durabilitas komposit fiberglass/polyester telah diselidiki dengan pendekatan fracture mechanics. Spesimen berupa Double Cantilever Beam yang terbuat dari dua adherend komposit fiberglass/polyester yang direkatkan dengan perekat epoxy. Adherend direndam dalam air distilat untuk memperoleh kelembaban dan kemudian dikeringkan dengan beberapa suhu pengeringan, yaitu suhu kamar selama 12 jam diikuti dengan 100 oC selama 15 menit, 50 oC selama 5 jam dan 100 oC selama 2,5 jam. Spesimen diuji baji pada kondisi kering (lingkungan udara) dan kondisi basah (lingkungan air). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa untuk pengujian kering, kelembaban yang rendah sesuai dengan suhu pengeringan 100 oC memberikan durabilitas yang lebih baik diikuti dengan suhu pengeringan 50 oC dan kemudian pada suhu kamar. Hal tersebut ditunjukkan dengan energi patah yang relatif cukup tinggi dan juga kecepatan retak yang rendah pada energi patah tinggi. Sedangkan pada pengujian basah, hasil yang lebih baik diperoleh pada suhu pengeringan 50 oC (kelembaban 4,4%) dan suhu pengeringan 100 oC memberikan hasil yang terendah. Hal ini menyarankan bahwa suhu pengeringan seharusnya tidak pada atau lebih tinggi dari 100 oC untuk kondisi lingkungan basah. Abstract

Teachers? diagnostic practice on students-difficulties is one of the important steps in designing and managing classroom lessons. The purpose of this study was to explore teachers? perception and practices regarding diagnosing students? learning difficulties. The participants of the study were 28 Indonesian mathematics teachers of Junior High School. The data was collected through a Focus Group Discussion and a teacher questionnaire. The data were analyzed qualitatively to describe how the teachers perceive learning difficulties and how the teachers diagnosed students? learning difficulties. The results of the analysis reveal that the teachers do not yet perform an in-depth diagnosis of students? difficulties in learning mathematics. The teachers only focus on the mathematics topics and non-mathematical issues, instead of on students? thinking process. The teachers also do not differentiate the diagnosis, evaluation, and prediction test. With regard to the strategies used by the teachers to diagnose students? difficulties, analyzing students? responses to tests was the majority. In this respect, observing students? learning process during classroom activities is rarely done by the teachers in the purpose of diagnosing students? learning difficulties. The results of the diagnosis are mainly used as the basis for remedial and drill and practices. The results imply that more support is needed for teachers to improve their competences particularly in diagnosing students? thinking process difficulties when learning mathematics.

Abstract

Penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak daripendidikan matematika realistik (PMR) terhadap peningkatankemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik (KPMM). Desain penelitianyang digunakan adalah kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen dengan subjekpopulasi seluruh siswa SMP di Kota Yogyakarta yang berasal darisekolah level rendah (C), sedang (B), dan tinggi (A). Dari masing-masinglevel sekolah diambil satu sekolah kemudian dari setiap sekolah yangterambil diambil satu kelas eksperimen yang mendapat PMR dan satukelas kontrol yang mendapat pembelajaran biasa (PB). Instrumen yangdigunakan berupa dua set tes KPMM yang setara. Analisis datamenggunakan uji-t dan Anava. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah:(1) peningkatan KPMM siswa PMR lebih tinggi daripada peningkatanKPMM siswa PB pada keseluruhan siswa dan semua level sekolah; (2)peningkatan KPMM siswa PMR paling tinggi terjadi pada sekolah levelA; dan (3) tidak ada interaksi antara pembelajaran dengan level sekolahdalam peningkatan KPMM.Kata Kunci: pendidikan matematika realistik, pemecahan masalahmatematik

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aims to determine the impact of realistic mathematics education (RME) on increasing Mathematical Problem-Solving Abilities (MPSA). The research design used was the non-equivalent control group with the subject population of all junior high school students in the city of Yogyakarta originating from low (C), moderate (B), and high (A) levels. From each school level, one school was taken then from each school taken an experimental class that received RME and one class of control who received regular learning (PB). The instrument used is in the form of two sets of equivalent MPSA tests. Data analysis uses the t-test and Anava. The results of the research were: (1) an increase in the MPSA of RME students was higher than the increase in the MPSA of PB students for all students and all levels of the school; (2) the highest increase in MPSA for RME students occurs at level A schools; and (3) there is no interaction between learning at school level in increasing MPSA.

Abstract

The study aims at generating a product in the form of comic book and also displaying the feasibility and the effectiveness of the comic book in improving the mathematical problem-solving skills and the self-confidence of the Grade IV students in the Muhammadiyah Elementary School Condongcatur Yogyakarta. The study is a Research and Development initiative (R&) with reference to 10 stages that have been developed by Borg & Gall. During the conduct of the study, the subjects were the Grade IV students of Muhammadiyah Elementary School Condongcatur Yogyakarta. The results of the study show that: (1) a comic book-based learning media that meet the criteria of feasibility based on the validation results by the material expert, the media expert, the teacher response and the students response have been generated with “Good” category; and (2) the comic book-based learning media that have been generated are effective for improving the students’ mathematical problem-solving skills and also the students’ self-confidence.

Abstract

This study confirms the correlation model constructed among organizational abilities variables of secondary school teachers. The organizational abilities variables are: organizational commitment, and professional commitment, job satisfaction, and job performance. The samples are secondary school teachers selected using purposive sampling techniques. Additional sample criteria are: teaching experience for two semesters and a maximum 45 years of age. Data were collected through a rating scale questionnaire (1-5) and analyzed using Lisrel 8.0 program. The results show that professional commitment has a significant effect on organizational commitment and job satisfaction with values of 2.72 and 2.60. Other findings that organizational commitment and job satisfaction have an effect on job performance with values of 2.36 and 2.02. Empirically, the results concluded that the correlation among the variables theoretically fulfilled the fit criteria.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan pengaruh pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) dan pendekatan konvensional serta keefektifan pendekatan PMRI dan pendekatan konvensional ditinjau dari motivasi berprestasi, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan prestasi belajar siswa pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Luragung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experiment). Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Luragung, semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang terdiri atas delapan kelas. Sampel dipilih sebanyak dua kelas dari 8 kelas dengan menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Perbedaan pengaruh dianalisis menggunakan uji multivariat (MANOVA) dan keefektifan dianalisis dengan uji one sample t test dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pengaruh yang signifikan antara pendekatan PMRI dan pendekatan konvensional ditinjau dari motivasi berprestasi, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan prestasi belajar siswa dan pendekatan PMRI efektif ditinjau dari motivasi berprestasi.Kata Kunci: Pendekatan Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik Indonesia, pendekatan konvensional, motivasi berprestasi, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, prestasi belajar. The Effect of the IRME Approach on the Achievement Motivation, Problem Solving Skills, and Learning Achievement AbstractThis study aimed to describe (1) Differentiation the effect of Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) and the conventional approach and (2) Effectiveness of IRME approach and the conventional approach on achievement motivation, problem solving skills, and learning achievement of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Luragung. This study was a quasi-experimental study (quasi-experiment). The population of this research was all the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Luragung, semester I academic year 2013/2014 consisting of eight classes. Two classes was chosen from 8 classes by using cluster sampling technique as samples. The effect of IRME were analyzed using multivariate test (MANOVA), and effectiveness were analyzed using one sample t test with a significance level of 0.05. The results show that there is a significant difference effect between IRME approach and the conventional approach on achievement motivation, problem solving skills, and students learning achievement. IRME approach effective on achievement motivation in the subject system linear equations in two variables in SMP Negeri 1 Luragung.Keywords: Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) approach, the conventional approach, achievement motivation, problem solving skills, learning achievement.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran bangun ruang dengan pendekatan Creative Problem Solving  yang berkualitas baik berdasarkan kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan dengan model pengembangan Four-D yang diadaptasi dari Thiagarajan, Semmel, dan Semmel yang memuat tahap define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Penelitian ini menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran yang terdiri dari Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), Lembar Kegiatan Siswa (LKS), tes prestasi belajar, dan tes kemampuan penalaran matematis. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa perangkat yang dikembangkan memiliki kategori sangat valid untuk masing-masing RPP, LKS, dan tes. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa RPP dan LKS yang dikembangkan memiliki kategori praktis dan efektif. Kepraktisan mencapai kategori sangat praktis berdasarkan penilaian guru dan mencapai kategori praktis berdasarkan hasil observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dan penilaian siswa. Keefektifan mencapai kategori efektif berdasarkan ketuntasan belajar siswa. Secara klasikal ketuntasan tes prestasi belajar mencapai 76,67% dan tes kemampuan penalaran matematis mencapai 90%.Kata kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran, Creative Problem Solving  Developing of Solid Instructional Package with Creative Problem Solving Approach AbstractThe aim of this research was to produce the solid instructional package with Creative Problem Solving  approach which have good quality based on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness criteria. This study was a research and development using the developmental model adapted from Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel included define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. This study produces instructional package consists of lesson plans, student worksheets, achievement tests, and mathematical reasoning tests. The results of the validation showed that the developed package is very valid based on lesson plans, student worksheets, and tests. The results of the tryout indicated that lesson plans and student worksheets are practical and effective. The practicality was in  very practical category based on teacher?s assessment and practical category based on the implementation of learning and student?s assessment. The effectiveness was in the effective category based on student?s learning mastery. In the classical mastery learning it reached 76.67% for achievement and 90% for mathematical reasoning.   Keywords: development, instructional package, Creative Problem Solving

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan matematis, yang terdiri atas kemampuan penalaran dan representasi matematis siswa SMP di Kabupaten Indramayu, Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP kelas VIII di Kabupaten Indramayu tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 390 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah stratified random sampling.Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik Tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistika deskriptif melalui dua cara, yaitu estimasi titik dan estimasi interval rata-rata untuk menentukan kategori ketercapaian pada masing-masing kemampuan matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan matematis siswa SMP di Kabupaten Indramayu berada pada kategori sedang. Secara lebih spesifik rata-rata skor pada kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Begitu juga pada rata-rata skor kemampuan representasi matematis siswa berada pada kategori sedang. Exploration ability of mathematical reasoning and representation of junior high school students AbstractThis study aimed to describe the mathematical ability, which consists of the ability of mathematical reasoning and representation in junior high school students in Indramayu, West Java Province, Indonesia. This research was using survey method with quantitative approach. The population in this study were all grade VIII students in both state and private junior high schools in Indramayu district in academic year of 2016/2017 and 390 students selected as sample research. The sampling technique was stratified random sampling. Data collected using test technique. Technique data analysis used descriptive statistics through two ways, namely estimation point and the average of interval estimation to determine the category of achievement in each of the students' mathematical abilities.  The result showed that the mathematical ability of junior high school students in Indramayu district was in the medium category. More specifically the average score on students' mathematical reasoning abilities was included in the moderate category. Similarly, the average score of students' mathematical representation ability was in the medium category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hubungan kemampuan verbal, kemampuan interpersonal, dan minat belajar dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian expost facto. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP di Kabupaten Purworejo. Sampel yang berasal dari sembilan sekolah di tiga daerah ditentukan dengan cluster random sampling technique. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan angket. Hasil analisis menunjukkan kemampuan verbal, kemampuan interpersonal, dan minat belajar matematika secara bersama-sama berhubungan dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa SMP, di mana kontribusi yang diberikan sebesar 38,60% serta persamaan regresi yang diperoleh ialah . Hubungan antara kemampuan verbal dan prestasi belajar matematika dengan kontribusi sebesar 23,62%; hubungan antara kemampuan interpersonal dan prestasi belajar matematika dengan kontribusi sebesar 1,64% dan hubungan antara minat belajar matematika dan prestasi belajar matematika dengan kontribusi sebesar 6,15%.Kata Kunci: kemampuan verbal, kemampuan interpersonal, minat belajar matematika, dan prestasi belajar matematika siswa. The Relationship Among Verbal Ability, Interpersonal Ability, Interest in Learning, and the Mathematics Learning Achievement AbstractThis study aims to describe correlation among verbal ability, interpersonal ability, interest in learning, and the mathematics learning achievement of junior high school (JHS) students. This study was a quantitative expost facto study. The population comprised all Year VIII students of JHS in Purworejo District. A sample consisting of nine schools from three areas was established using the cluster random sampling technique. The data were collected through a test and Likert-scale questionnaires. The results showed that verbal ability, interpersonal ability, and interest as an aggregate correlate with the learning mathematics achievement of JHS students, with a contribution of 38.6% obtained by the regression model Y = -1.385 + 0.635X1 + 0.039X2 + 0.085X3, the verbal ability and mathematics learning achievement with the contribution of 23.62%; the interpersonal ability and mathematics learning achievement with the contribution of 1.64%; and interest and mathematics learning achievement with the contribution of 6.15%.Keywords: verbal ability, interpersonal ability, interest in learning, and mathematics learning achievement.
