Abstract

This research aims to explain: (1) characters character in the drama script Senja Dengan Dua Kelelawar; (2) the inner conflicts experienced by the characters in the drama script Senja Dengan Dua Kelelawar; and (3) the relevance of the drama Senja Dengan Dua Kelelawar as a teaching material for drama appreciation at senior high school. This study uses a literature psychology study, which uses a psychological approach to knowing the character of the character through observation of behavioral characters. The results of this study are descriptions of: (1) the characterization of the characters in the Drama Senja Dengan Dua Kelelawar which differ from each character. This is done to build a storyline that matches the theme of the drama script; (2) the inner conflicts experienced by the characters in the drama drama Senja Dengan Dua Kelelawar are very complex. Every inner conflict experienced by a character can be described through psychoanalytic theory with a focus on the study of the id, ego, and superego; and (3) the relevance of the Drama of Senja Dengan Dua Kelelawar as a teaching material for drama appreciation in high schools by paying attention to aspects of language, students' psychological development, and cultural background.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe and explain: (1) the aspects of diction used in the novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata; (2) the values of character education in the novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata; and (3) the relevance of Andrea Hirata?s novel Ayah as a teaching material of language and literature in Vocational High School. This study is a qualitative research that analyzes the data in the form of documents with the object of study of novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata. The results of this study are as follows. (1) The diction aspect contained in Andrea Hirata's father's novel includes five types of diction, (2) Novels contain sixteen points of character education values, (3) Novel Ayah is relevant to the learning of Indonesian language and literature in SMK because the aspect of diction and the value of character education in accordance with the learning objectives that have been designed using the Learning Implementation Plan based on the Core Competence and Basic Competence which includes the competencies that the learners must achieve in language and literature learning. Dad's novel can increase students' vocabulary mastery according to language ability, student psychology, and cultural background.

Abstract

This research used qualitative research approach with psychology literature review. The data of this research came from the text in the novel Laut Bercerita while the data source came from the results of interviews with teachers, students, counseling and guidance?s teachers, and the authors. The data collection techniques using document analysis and interviews. The technique of taking research subjects with purposive sampling. Data validity using theory triangulation and data triangulation. Data analysis techniques using interactive analysis models which include data collection, data reduction activities, display data, and drawing conclusion. The research procedure consists of the preparation stage, the data collection stage, the data selection stage, the stage of conducting data analysis (interactive models), the stage of preparing the research report. The results of this research are 1) the novel Laut Bercerita has the completeness of intrinsic elements consisting of 7 elements, 2) the inner conflict in the main character can be understood through Sigmund Freud's theory (Id, Ego, Superego) that is able to be influenced by factors within the character itself or external factors of the people around him, 3) there are 12 values of character education contained in the novel Laut Bercerita, and 4) the novel Laut Bercerita is relevant when used as a teaching material for literary appreciation in SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta and SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta because it contains a lot of  positive values that can be realized for students in real life.

Abstract

This research aimed at describing and explaining about (1) the discourse structure of review text on book review columns in Solopos Newspaper January-December 2017 edition; (2) the textual aspects of book review; (3) the contextual aspects of book review; (4) the relevance of book review columns in Solopos Newspaper January-December 2017 edition as the teaching materials of review text in Secondary Junior High Schools and in Secondary Senior High Schools. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive. The results of this research indicated that (1) the discourse structure of review text on book review columns included opening paragraph, contacting paragraph or content, and closing paragraph; (2) textual aspects supporting the completeness of book review were the topic of discourse, aspects of cohesion and coherence, and forms of words; (3) the contextual aspects on book review could be understood through four interpretive principles, namely: the principle of personal interpretation, the principle of local interpretation, the principle of temporal interpretation, and the principle of analogy; and (4) the results of this research also indicated that book review columns in Solopos Newspaper January-December 2017 edition could be used as the teaching materials of review text in Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools.

Abstract

This aims of this research are to describe and explain: (1) the intellectual elements which contained in Athirah novel created by Alberthiene Endah, (2) psychological characteristics of the main characters in the Athirah created by Alberthiene Endah, (3) character education values in the Athirah created by Alberthiene Endah, and (4) the relevance of Athirah as a literature learning material in high school. This research is a kind of qualitative descriptive research using a psychology literary approach. The research was conducted from January 2017 to June 2019. The source of the data is Alberthiene Endah's novel named Athirah. Other main sources of data were used, are theory books and journals. This study used a purposive sampling technique. The validity of the data was tested using data source triangulation techniques, and expert judgment, while the data collection techniques used document analysis and interviews. Data analysis used an interactive analysis model which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of data analysis, the Athirah novel by Alberthiene Endah, there was an attachment between elements of the theme, plot or plot, character and characterization, setting and setting, point of view and mandate. The characteristics of the Athirah novel by Alberthiene Endah are divided into id, ego, and superego. Athirah novels contain a lot of high-value and relevant character education content for literary learning material in high school.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the forms of misuse of spelling on official letters in and out of the Village Office of Batan Village; (2) a form of error in the choice of words on official letters in and out of the Batan Village Office; (3) the form of misuse of the sentence on official letters in and out of the Village Office of Batan Village; and (4) the relevance of the findings of the analysis of errors in the use of Indonesian with learning letters in junior high school. The method used is qualitative descriptive. The data source used is in the form of documents and informants. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection techniques use document analysis and interview techniques. The validity of the data is done by theory triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis is using interactive analysis. The results of the study showed: (1) there were spelling errors in the official letter of entry and exit in the Village of Batan as many as 1,171 errors, among the three types of errors in spelling, capital letters errors had the most frequency followed by word punctuation and writing errors; (2) there were 273 errors in the official letter of entry and exit in the Village of Batan. Among the three types of diction errors, the savings error has the highest number of errors followed by errors in accuracy and rigidity; (3) there were 142 mistakes in sentence in the official letter of entry and exit in the Village of Batan Village. Among the three types of errors in the sentence, the error of the unitary arrangement has the most frequency followed by logical errors and politeness; (4) the findings of the analysis can be evaluated on the learning of letters in junior high school class VII, KD 3.11 and 4.11 and KD 3.12 and KD 4.12.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the quality of the learning process and the skills of retelling the contents of the biographical text with the print media using the Think Talk Write model of learning in students of class X Motorcycle Technique (TSM) B SMK Gamaliel 1 Madiun. This study is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is implemented in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subjects in this study were students of class X TSM B consisting of 21 male students. Data collection techniques used in this study include observation, field notes, interviews, documentation, and ability tests. This research used compative descriptive data anlysis technique. The results showed that the application of Think Talk Writelearning model with print media can improve the quality of the learning process and the skills of retelling the content of the biography of the students in cycle I and cycle II. This is indicated by the improvement of process quality from cycle I with an average score of 71,42 increased in cycle II with an average score of 90,47. Then, skill enhancement retells the contents of the biography text in cycle I with an average score of 70,42 increases in cycle II with an average score of 82,80.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe; (1) inner conflict experienced by the main character in the novel Burung-Burung Manyar by Y.B. Mangunwijaya; (2) the values of character education in the novel Burung-Burung Manyar by Y.B. Mangunwijaya; and (3) the relevance of the novel Burung-Burung Manyar by Y.B. Mangunwijaya in the learning of literary appreciation in senior high school.This research applied descriptive qualitative method with the approach of literature psychology. The assessment of inner conflict was done with the psychoanalysis theory by Sigmund Freud. The data of this research were collected from the quotes in the novel Burung-Burung Manyar by Y.B. Mangunwijaya and the information from teachers. The research subjects taking was done with purposive sampling technique. The technique of data collection for this research is content analysis and interview. The validity test used triangulation of data sources and triangulation method. The flow technique is applied to analyze the data.This research reveals that there are id, ego, and superego that affect character personality. The imbalance among id, ego and superego cause inner conflict. The values of character education appear in the novel are religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, independent, curiosity, national spirit, patriotism, acknowledge achievement, friendly/communicative, social care and responsible. This novel is relevant to the instructional purpose that must be achieved from the aspect of content, presentation, language, and graphic.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe (1) the form of directive speech acts in JK Rowling's Harry Potter novels year 1 and 2, (2) the form of language politeness, (3) the relevance of the Harry Potter novelsyear 1 and 2 in Indonesian language learning to students in middle school. The data collection technique used in this study was purposive sampling and data analysis used an interactive analysis model. The results of this study indicate that the form of directive speech acts and compliance with the principles of politeness contained in the Harry Potter novels year 1 and 2 by J. Rowling are  as follows: (1) speech acts; requests, questions, rules, prohibitions, granting permits, and directive forms of counseling which numbered 419 data; (2) compliance with the principles of teacher and student politeness during the learning process is found as many as 118 data; (3) Harry Potter novels year 1 and 2 by J. K. Rowling are related to literary learning in junior high schools.

Abstract

The objectives of the research is to know: (1) The knowledge and the confidence of the young generation on Indonesian language; (2) The valuation to the young generation on Indonesian language; (3) The inclination of the young generation to take measures in using Indonesia language; (4) The exist and unexist of the influence of gender variable, the education level and the education level and the back ground of mother language on the attitudes of young generation to Indonesian language. The sample research is 300 young generation, consist of 60 students of SMK, 120 students of SMU, 120 the university students from government and private universities. Which was taken by multiplestage cluster random sampling techniques. Based on the data analysis descriptively, it can be concluded: (1) The young generation have positive confidences on Indonesian language; (2) The young generation have positive valuation on Indonesian language; (3) The young generation have an inclination to take positive measures by using Indonesian language. While from the result of the data analysis by using T-examination technique, it can be concluded: (1) There is a gender influence on the language attitudes from the young generation; (2) There is an influence of the education level on the language attitudes from the young generation; (3) There is an influence on the back ground of mother language on the young generation attitude.
