Abstract

A 7.4 magnitude earthquake have strucked Donggala on September 28th 2018, followed by tsunami and liquefaction which hit Palu, Central Sulawesi, a few minutes later. This event had resulted in damage to buildings, and caused more than 2,000 people were killed and injured. Indonesia already have a building code in form of SNI 1726:2002 which had been updated to SNI 1726:2012. This paper analyses the hazard level caused by the 2018 Donggala earthquake compared to the existing design spectra, as mentioned in SNI 1726:2002 and SNI 1726:2012. A simple analysis was carried out by comparing Donggala earthquake’s acceleration response spectra with the existing design spectra, at the MPSI accelerograph station. The site class at MPSI station is hard soil (SC). The seismic hazard in Palu and Donggala refers to SNI 1726:2002 is included in the earthquake area 4. The maximum earthquake response factor for earthquake area 4 is about 0.6 for hard soil type (SC). The MPSI station recorded peak ground acceleration of Donggala earthquake around 0.14 g. The acceleration response spectra recorded at the MPSI station showed a peak value of around 0.71 g for the N component. This value is actually still below the design spectra referring to SNI 1726:2012, which the peak value is 0.88 g for SC, but, it exceeded the design spectra of SNI 1726:2002.

Abstract

The performance of the South Sumatra Provincial Government is reflected in the quality of innovation, program development, public services, and administrative processes related to the task and function of improving people's welfare. Performance productivity is measured by reducing poverty, increasing economic growth, and increasing local income. One of the improvements in performance is the work of middle level management in addition to the work of other levels of top management and low management. This study will answer the question of what factors can significantly to improve the performance of the government of South Sumatra Province. This paper will examine the factors of self-efficacy and affective commitment which are seen as determinants of improving the performance of the government of South Sumatra province, because it is one of the advantages of human resources and is a productive added value. However, previous studies on self-efficacy and affective commitment provide evidence that these two factors produce inconsistent research findings or gaps. Therefore empirically recommends that the effect of self-efficacy and affective commitment to improve performance requires further research to be justified. To resolve the gap of self-efficacy and affective commitment to the performance of the government of South Sumatra province, researchers adopted the theory of goal setting with the concept of competitive leadership with good organizational indicators, applying technology, sustainable work programs, and developing wider networks as a result of efficacy self and affective commitment can henceforth be used to improve organizational performance. The sample was used 108 respondents who held administrative positions with SEM LISREL 9.30 data processing. This conceptual model is expected to prove thatcompetitive shared leadership that is influenced by self-affication and affective commitment significantly improves the performance of the government of South Sumatra province.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the type of plagiarism contained in student papers on the subject of Introduction to Literature and the factors causing students to do plagiarism. Researchers used descriptive quantitative research methods to answer both research questions. In this study, this type of plagiarism is examined using unpaid online applications and manuals to determine the type of plagiarism based on indicators of government regulation no. 17 year 2010. While the factors causing plagiarism obtained through the responses of respondents to a given questionnaire. Population in research is one semester student majoring in English Education. The total population was 50 students and the sample in the study was 44. The results of the study show that type 1 plagiarism is the most dominant type appearing in student papers, followed by plagiarism types 2, 3 and 4. Chapters 1 and 2 in most papers are chapters where the chances of plagiarism occur most often. Then, the factors that cause students to practice plagiarism are: a) lack of understanding how to cite and write references well so not confident in composing academic writing; b) limited access to referrals and c) student attitudes which often delay and hasten in completing tasks.

Abstract

This research was about the problems faced by students in applying grammar on speaking skill at the second semester students at ABA UMI. This research was carried to find out and analyze the types of problems encountered by students. In doing the research, the researchers used qualitative approach which involved descriptive method in it. Then, the data were collected through the questionnaire. The researchers took 23 students as the sample then gave the students test that consisted of 30 items: 25 multiple choice and 5 essays questions. There were four types of errors which were usually made by students of second semester students. They were omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. From the questionnaire finding, the results showed that based on the rate of the grammar problems faced by students percentage total error of omission is 14 on the percentage 0,60%, total error of addition is 18 on the percentage 0,78%, total error of misformation is 21 on the percentage 0,91%, and total error of misoredering 10 on the percentage 0,43%. It is followed by the problems speaking skill with mean percentage, of grammar is 64%, vocabulary 25%, and Pronunciation 11%.In conclusion, problems in the application of grammar on speaking skill is higher, it concluded that the grammar problems still become barrier that affect students speaking skill.
