Abstract

This study will examine the nature of silica and modified silica in the interaction with Cr (III) ion as an adsorbate. Properties that will be studied are kinetics and equilibrium of Cr (III) adsorption in solution. Studies begins with determining the existence of Cr (III) ion in solution at various pH values, the presence of adsorbent at various pH values, and the adsorption of Cr (III) ion in solution by the adsorbent at various pH values. Based on this data set also can determined some values, e.g the maximum adsorption capacity (notated as Qmax), and the equilibrium constant, the RL value that determined the nature of adsorption were favorable or not favorable. Similarly to the Freundlich isotherm. Adsorption kinetic and equilibrium were performed at pH 5. Each adsorbent has a different kinetic model. All of adsorbents has compatibility with Langmuir 2 isotherm model, and on these condition had favorable adsorption of Cr (III) ion. The highest Qmax value is at HSSN. In the Freundlich isotherm model can be stated that all of the adsorbent is favorable for the adsorption process of Cr (III) ion in solution..

Abstract

In this research, adsorption of Ca(II), Pb(II) and Ag(I) in aqueous solution onto sulfonato-silica hybrid (SSH) prepared from rice hull ash (RHA) has been studied. The preparation of SSH adsorbent was carried out by oxidation of mercapto-silica hybrid (MSH) with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution 33%. MSH was prepared, via sol-gel process, by adding 3 M hydrochloric acid solution to mixture of sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) solution and 3(trimethoxysilyl)-1-propanthiol (MPTS) to reach pH of 7.0. Solution of Na2SiO3 was generated from destruction of RHA with sodium hydroxide solution followed with heating at 500 °C for 30 min. The SSH produced was characterized with Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyzer, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and determination of ion-exchange capacity for sodium ion (Na+). The adsorption of Ag(I) and Ca(II) were conducted in a batch system in various concentrations for one hour. The adsorbent ion was calculated based on difference of concentrations before and after adsorption process determined using atomic absorbance spectrophotometric (AAS) method. The adsorption character was evaluated using model of isotherm Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption to calculate the capacity, constants and energy of adsorption. Result of characterization by EDX and FTIR showed qualitatively that SSH has been successfully synthesized which were indicated by appearance of characteristic absorbance of functional group namely silanol (Si-OH), siloxane (Si-O-Si), methylene (-CH2-) and disappearance of mercapto group (SH). The XRD data showed amorphous structure of SSH, similar to silica gel (SG) and MSH. The study of adsorption thermodynamics showed that oxidation of MSH into SSH increases the ion-exchange capacity for Na+ from 0.123 to 0.575 mmol/g. The change in functional group from silanol to mercapto and from mercapto to sulfonato increases the adsorption capacity of Ca(II). However, the capacity order of adsorbents for both ions of Pb(II) and Ag(I) in aqueous solution is MSH > SG > SSH.

Abstract

Learning to speak is not easy especially for the learners. The teacher always finds that the students or the learners are often reluctant because they are shy and difficult to express themselves in front of  other people, especially when they are being asked to give personal information or opinions. Besides they are rarely given a chance to practice their speaking. Because of less in practicing to speak English or even never, students are finally afraid of speaking. They are afraid of making mistakes, especially in grammar and pronounciation. To make the students have motivation in speaking, the teacher should be able to facilitate and encourage the students in order to speak English as much as possible. Therefore the teacher needs to create an atmosphere where the students will feel free to use language they learning, so the learners will not get bored in learning English. There were three steps in the implementation of demonstration technique, pre activity, while activity and post activity. In pre activity, the teacher always opened the lesson through greeting, asking the student’ condition and checking the attendance list. The teacher also prepared the materials every meeting. Then the started to introduce the material and explained the demonstration technique. In whilst activity, the teacher always asked the students to bring things that they would present in the following day. Then the teacher asked the students to discuss the steps with their friends how to make something before they started to demonstrate their properties. After discussing, the students began to demonstrate their properties while practicing it directly in front of the class. After demonstrating, other students began to respond their friend’s presentation. In post activity, the teacher observed the students activity and controlled their interaction during teaching learning process. She always gave reward to the best performance students, and corrected the students mistakes.After the students had the implementation of demonstration technique, their speaking ability showed that 75 % scores were increasing. So demonstration technique gave positive effect to the students’ speaking ability. And it can be said that demonstration technique was interesting for the students in learning  speaking.The student’ response toward the implementation of demonstration technique in the process of teaching speaking were good. It can be showed that most of them stated that the use of this technique were really interesting and made the students more active in class. They also agreed that it could help them practice speaking English bravely. It was because the teacher chose appropriate topics selected which was related to the students’ interest and daily lives.

Abstract

This research was done in Chemistry Laboratory FMIPA UNY. The aim of this research is to know the effect of diatomaeous earth soaking in a such acid on its adsorption power for heavy metal chromium(III) and chromium(VI) ions.The subject of this research is the diatomaeous earth from Sangiran Village, Sragen, Jawa Tengah. The object of this research is the diatomaeous earth properties soaking in such acid. Independent variables of this research are acid type, acid soaker concentration and the type of metal ion adsorbed. Dependent variable is its adsorption power for heavy metal chromium(III) and chromium(VI) ions. Experiment procedure consists of some steps: preparation, the diatomaeous earth treatment on chloride acid, nitric acid, and sulphuric acid, properties of the diatomaeous earth adsorbent for chromium(III) and chromium(VI) investigation. FTIR analyzing on original and treated diatomaeous earth and AAS analyzing to determine chromium(III) and chromium(VI) concentration before and after being diatomaeous earth soaker.The conclusion from this research was the diatomaeous earth soaking on such acids can caused adsorption power differences. Optimum adsorption power for chromium(III) occurred on a half concentrate chloride acid soaking (18.50%), concentrate nitric acid (65%), and concentrate sulphuric acid ((96%). Optimum adsorption power for chromium(VI) occurred on a half concentrate chloride acid soaking (18.50%), half concentrate nitric acid (32.50%), and an eight concentrate sulphuric acid (12%). Both original and treated diatomaeous earth has a similar FTIR spectrum pattern.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of pH on the adsorption of micronu- trients of Ca 2+  and K . by silica from lapindo mud. Data were collected by the adsorption experiments, on which 3 grams of silica separated from Lapindo mudwere dissolved in 300 mL of 0.0001 or 0.001 M Ca + 2+ or K ., and stirred for 2 hours. The pH of suspension was varied and left for equilibrate for 2 hours, and a sample was taken and measured for free concentration of K + + .cation  using Flame Atomic Emission Spectroscopy and of Ca  using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The pH ranges were from 3 to 10. Temperature o  30 C and contact time of 2 hours were maintained. The research showed that both cations were adsorbed in sigmoid curve, increased with increasing pH values. In entire ranges of observed pH, the percentage of cations adsorbed by silica was not different signi? cantly. The adsorbent of silica formed silanol (SiOH) in water. The ?OH groups of silica were protonated forming SiOH o at lower pH and deprotonated forming SiO¯ at higher pH. Abstract

The primary issue in this study is how the level of professionalism of teachers of Islamic education in improving the quality of school at SMK (vocational high school) Bhakti Anindya, SMKN 8, and SMK Tiara Angkasa of Tangerang is. This study aims to find the level of professionalism of teachers of Islamic education of SMK Bhakti Anindya, SMKN 8, and SMK Tiara Angkasa of Tangerang in overcoming barriers to school’s quality. The purpose of this study is to know the importance of Islamic Education Teacher’s Professionalism in improving the quality of learning. This study employs a combination of design/model of sequential exploratory, with its main steps: In the first stage, the study conducts a qualitative method to determine the setting of study that has problem. In the second stage, this study employs quantitative methods to test the hypothesis obtained in the first stage. The population of this study is 150 students with a 5% error, so the number of the sample is 105 students. The sampling collection is conducted by using proportional random sampling. The instrument of this study is collected through questionnaires that are arranged according to the Likert scale model. The results reveal that there are positive contributions from the Professionalism of Teacher of Islamic Education to the quality of the school. This is shown by the determination coefficient of 44.89%, which provide simple information that 44.89% of school quality is determined by the Islamic Education Teacher’s Professionalism. Thus it can be concluded that the higher the professionalism of teachers of Islamic education, the higher the quality of schools.

Abstract

The  objective   of  this  study   was  to  investigate    the  effect  of  soaking nitrate  acid  of Malelo  sand  to adsorption   efficiency   of chromium  (Cr). The Malelo  sand  was prepared   by soaking   in nitric  acid with variation of  concentration     were   17,5:  35  and   70%  for    24  hours   at  room temperature.    The  adsorption   efficiency   of  chromium   was  determined based  on concentration    of chromium   residue   after  adsorption.   which measured  using Atomic Absorption  Spectrophotometer    (AAS). The characterization    of Malelo  sand  determined   using  FTIR  and XRD.  The result  indicated  that the mean  ofadsorption    efficiency   of chromium  on Malelo   sand   without   preparation    and  soaking   in  nitrate   acid  with variation   concentration    17.5:  35 and  70%  were  91,36:  92,40:  92,72 and 94,004%  respectively.

Abstract

Realizing the expediency principle of waqf property, one of the efforts that be able to conducted is selecting and appointing nazhir that is conform the criteria and standards of professional nazhir competence. The purpose of study is to determine the criteria and professional nazhir competence in order to realize the expediency principle to assets of waqf in Ciawi and Megamendung district as well as to know the legal effect on waqf asset if nazhir not professional in managing and developing it. The approach method used in this research is sociological juridical (empirical), the law as a symptom of society, as a social institution or behavior that is pattern. Technical data collection used is through observation method, and interview method (interview). Based on results of research conducted by the author that the criteria and standards of professional nazhir competence is proficient, reasonable, law waqf understanding both Syariah and law, behaved as has been exemplified by the prophet Muhammad SAW namely sidiq, amanah, fathanah, tabligh, and possess skills and creativity not only in the field of syariah but law field, management and business. The legal consequences of the unmanaged asset of waqf in accordance to the legislation are the objects of waqf being displaced so that the management and its development can be taken over by the Badan Wakaf Indonesia, accordance to applicable laws and regulations

Abstract

This   program   of  implementation    Science,   Technology    and  Arts (Ipteks)  intended  to  introduce  and  give  skill  training  about  making  chips from  fish skins (kerupuk  kulit  ikan)  to the community   in Tanjungsari   Sub­ district,  Gunungkidul   Regency.  In this  area,  there  are  plenty  of  fish  skins that can pollute  and disturb  the beauty  of the environment.   Producing  chips from fish skins can reduce the pollutant  and increase  the value of fish skins.The  program   was  held  by  giving   information   and  demonstration methods  in two locations  with different  participants.   The first program  was held  in Tanjungsari  Sub-district   Hall  for 35 participants,   who  were  village chiefs'    wives.   The   second   program   was   held   at  Baron   beach   hall   to accommodate  20 participants,  consisting  of fishermen's   wives and members of youth group.The questionnaire  result  of first program  showed  that  85.71 % of theparticipants   considered  this  program  profitable   and  74.28%  said  that  they were  interested  to  develop  business  in  producing   fish  skin  chips.  All  the participants   (100%)   of  the  second   program   said  that   the  program   was profitable  and  they  were  interested  to  develop   business   in producing   fish skin  chips.  Thus,  the  program   succeeded   in  broadening   the  participants' perspectives  and  skills  on how  to make  use  of   waste,  turning  it into fish skin  chips  and  to  motivate  the  participants   to  develop   business  using  the knowledge  and skills already obtained.Key words:fish skin waste.fish skin drips
